Jane walked in the front door after running a few errands and said, "Honey, I'm home."

Maura replied, "We are in the office."

Jane had a puzzled look on her face, "We, who is with you?" Jane thought to herself, 'I did not know any one was coming over this morning, we have plans in a little while, I hope they won't stay long.'

Maura laughed and said, "Bass, he wanted to keep me company until you got home. He often follows me around when you are not here. Once you come in and greet us, he will find his way to his room or the living room."

"Okay, I will be right there. I am going to put the few groceries away that I picked up and then I will be right there."

"Okay sweetie."
Jane put the groceries away and then made her way to the office to see her girlfriend and her turtle.

Jane leaned down and gave Maura a kiss on the cheek and asked, "Did you get all the arrangements taken care of today?" She patted Bass' shell and said, "Bass, have you been a good little turtle for your mommy today?"

Maura reached for Jane and pulled her into a kiss before she responded, "Jane, I have told you numerous times that Bass is a tortoise and not a turtle. I swear sometimes I think you say that deliberately just to get a reaction from me." Jane just smiled at her and she continued, "Yes, I finished the last item on our to-do list about half an hour ago. All the arrangements have been made. I just need to print out a few items and then our to-do list is complete. I did have to let Cailin in on our plan because I needed her help on one item with Hope."

"Oh, did everything work out okay? Will we still be able to pull this off?" Jane asked with a concerned look on her face.

"Yes, we will be able to pull this off now that Cailin took care of that one item for me."

"Okay, now I am curious, what item did Cailin need to take care of for you?"

"I needed to know if Hope's passport was up to date. I know our mother's passports are up to date, as my mother travels all the time and your mother just got back from France with Ron. She was so proud when she showed me the stamps in her passport and I saw that the passport was issued earlier this year."

"Awesome Maur, what time are we having brunch with our mothers?"
"Brunch is set for 1 PM today, so we will need to leave in about 30 minutes." Maura said as she rose from her chair.

"Okay, come on Maur, let's get dressed so we can go to brunch. I am getting a little hungry. I am excited also to see our mother's faces."

"I know Jane, I am sure they will be pleased. I know Cailin is excited." Maura said as she followed Jane down the hall to their bedroom. Maura already had her clothes laid out so she knew it would

only take her about 20 minutes to get ready. She had showered while Jane was running her errands. Jane would only take about 15 minutes to shower and get dressed so they had plenty of time.

25 minutes later the ladies left their house to meet Cailin, Hope, Constance and Angela at the restaurant for brunch. The restaurant was a little crowded but they had reservations and were seated right away. They were the first to arrive and the other four arrived about 5 minutes later. Once they were all seated their waiter took their drink orders. When he came back with their drinks, they placed their food orders and continued to talk.

Maura was getting a little anxious and Jane could tell. She slid her hand on Maura's thigh in an attempt to calm her down. Maura looked at Jane and without saying a word Jane got everyone's attention. Maura smiled and then addressed the group, "Jane and I wanted to do something special for our mothers this year for Mother's Day, so here you go." Jane placed an envelope in front of Hope, Constance and Angela. "Please open your envelopes and let us know if you are willing to participate?"

Hope, Constance and Angela all looked at each other and opened their envelopes. They each carefully read the card and Angela put her hand up to her mouth as her eyes got big as saucers and she said, "of course sweethearts, I am in."

Constance immediately got up and stepped between Jane and Maura's chairs and gave a group hug to the younger women and whispered, "I am also in."

Hope had tears running down her face as Cailin hugged her. Hope and Angela both got up and went to hug Jane and Maura. Hope said, "of course I am in."

When everyone sat back down Maura continued speaking, "we thought it would be a great way to spend some quality time together. We have made all the arrangements already. All you need to do is pack your bags and show up at the airport for your flight. Jane and I have taken the liberties of arranging all the side excursions. This will be a fun two-week trip for the six of us. Hawaii watch out because here we come, well in two weeks we will go."

Jane spoke up, "we have talked with your places of employment and secured your time off already, so really all you have to do is pack. I hope you all like this gift. We did not know what to get each of you. We know you all love to travel and that you all work too hard and like us you do not take enough time off so, we thought this would be perfect. Besides you know the lieutenant is always bugging me to take some leave so Maur and I are taking a much-needed vacation."

They all laugh because they each have received phone calls from the lieutenant asking for their assistance to get Maura and Jane to take some leave.

Maura and Jane look at each other again and said, "Happy Mother's Day moms."

They all enjoyed their brunch and looked forward to their two-week cruise to Hawaii that they would be taking in two-weeks.
