Author's Note - This story was published (exactly) 12 years ago (!), and one or two years ago, I started to edit some of the chapters. I forgot about the editing until only recently, and once I restarted I had to finish. This story is now edited for more clarity and one chapter was added near the end. I remember wanting to finish this story quickly back then and I think that's what made the last chapters feel rushed. Anyway, I tried to fix what I could and add storylines that I meant to add in the past but didn't. Revisiting this world was amazing and I really hope you enjoy it! :)

A.N. Hi everyone! Just thought I'd try my hand on fanfiction, starting with a Sky High story. I've always wanted to write a Warren/OC fic so here it is :)

Disclaimer: I do not own Sky High and any of its characters. All OC's are mine, and that's pretty much it - sad I know :)

Prologue- Let the Flames Begin

A memory remains, just a tiny spark,

I give it all my oxygen,

To let the flames begin.

"Because I like you Warren!" a girl in pigtails said loudly as she faced a guy clad in a black leather jacket.

Warren just shook his head. Sure, he didn't have anyone to go to prom with, but he would never go with Mia. They might have been friends when they were younger, but he certainly did not have any romantic feelings for her. Plus, she had become more annoying lately, and followed him around with a few other girls who seemed to have formed a Warren Peace 'Fan Club'.

"I told you Mia, I'm not going to prom with you. Now stop following me around wishing that I would ask."

Soon enough people started to notice the conversation between the two. Warren's friends did not want to be involved so they stood by a few feet away. The others in the hallway however, just looked on out of mere curiosity, and the hope of fresh, new gossip.

"Is it because I'm a sophomore? You don't want me to like you because I'm too young or something?" asked Mia forlornly as she looked at her object of affection.

Warren sighed in frustration when he finally noticed the crowd around them. From the corner of his eye, he saw the group of girls who were part of his so-called 'Fan Club'. They looked at him and Mia apprehensively, as if they were holding their breaths to await his response. He groaned inwardly and his temper rose. The day had been hard enough for him and he wasn't in a very good mood.

"It's not because you're a sophomore! It's because you've been such a stalker who won't leave me alone!" came Warren's loud response. As soon as the words left his mouth, he regretted it, but it was too late.

It had been loud enough for everyone in the hall to hear, and the laughter started as if on cue. Mia looked like she was just slapped in the face, and Warren's frustrated expression instantly disappeared. He walked away quickly from Mia's shocked and embarrassed face in case he did something else to hurt her feelings more. Warren quickly passed his friends who opened their mouths to say something but immediately chose not to. He walked out of the school doors and headed left to the gardens, away from the school buses.

Meanwhile, the laughter in the hallway continued, and Mia rushed outside, away from the jeers, the insults, and the fingers pointed at her. The only sympathetic face she saw was that of Nate's, her best friend, possibly her only friend at that time.

Warren's rejection was a big blow for Mia, but deep in her mind she saw it coming, she was just not prepared for it. She sat in the bus on her way home with people still snickering at her, and she felt nothing but sadness and humiliation. She wanted to cry, but the tears never came. She was not a person who cried easily, in fact, she couldn't remember a time when she cried. No matter how much she wanted them, no tears wanted to comply.

"Millie, are you okay?" her friend Nate asked in a worried tone.

Mia shrugged, "I don't know."

"It's gonna be okay, trust me," Nate wrapped an arm around her reassuringly. He looked around and glared at the people in the bus who were still laughing at his friend.

Mia however, just stared ahead, and tried to feel apathetic towards the rest of them.

The clichéd words of 'crushed by a crush' came instantly to her head.

She swore to herself that she would try to forget the boy named Warren Peace and move on with her life.

Too bad life doesn't always go as planned.
