Disclaimer: I own nothing.
Chapter one: A New Beginning
When people preach about what happens after death, no one doesn't truly know anything. It is all what people hope is true to give life meaning.
I used to be one of the people who took these teaching to heart. Well, after I died, I learned the truth.
There is nothing after death. No heaven or hell. It is just a void of nothingness.
A perpetual sentence of coldness and darkness, and the worst of all loneliness.
Well, at least in normal circumstances.
This is an interesting development.
Normally, any souls that wake up in this place go insane within the first few days.
Why didn't you?
If I answer your questions will you answer mine?
Depending on if the answers satisfy me.
If that is my only option, I will take it.
I didn't go insane because none of the symptoms I'm experiencing are new to me.
I have always been alone. Never knew my family and was always tossed around in foster care. Never stayed long enough to make any friends.
The families that took care of me were only looking for a paycheck. They gave me the bare necessities only.
Many sleepless nights on the hard floor with just a sheet to cover myself, not even a light was provided.
Did you not try to get help?
I did. It didn't help in the end. I just got sent to the next home which never was any better.
I see…
Do you resent the people in your life?
Of course, I do. However, in the end it didn't matter, everyone seems to be destined for this nothingness.
Now, answer me this question. Who are you?
Your answers satisfied my curiosity, I will answer your questions.
I am a cosmic entity.
My name can't be pronounced in human tongue.
You can call me The Game.
A cosmic entity? Are you God?
I guess you could call me a God.
However, not one you would know.
If you are a God, I wouldn't know, why show yourself to me?
A human that is able to keep their sanity while experiencing this void is impossible.
You proved it to be possible.
I wanted to know how.
Even if I could have read your mind. I wanted to know directly from you.
I guess that is something I could understand.
I have many more questions that I could ask, but I think the main one I have right now is... what happens from here?
…
What if I could offer you another chance at life?
What do you have to gain for this?
Honestly, nothing.
Like I said a human able to keep their sanity here is unheard of.
I want to see what more you could do.
Would I go back to my original world?
No.
I would put you in an anime world with something… interesting.
…Will I get a chance to experience a family?
…I could arrange this.
You can even grow your own family. You can be a villain or a hero.
I don't care as long as I can watch.
This place is boring as fuck.
That sounds creepy.
I wouldn't watch all the time, like when you're fucking your girlfriend… or boyfriend.
I don't judge.
You're a pervert aren't you.
Immortality gets boring. You pick up traits over the years.
Okay, I guess that is understandable.
Do you accept?
…If I can get another chance at having a family, I accept.
Let's get started then.
[Gamer's Mind] (Passive)
Allows the user to see the world as a video game.
Protects from mind manipulation.
[Gamer's Body] (Passive)
The user body will become that of a video game characters. Keeping the user alive as long as HP remains.
HP and Status affects reset after a night of rest.
[Observe] (Active)
Gives information of the target they are focusing on.
If used on person this will give stats, HP value, MP value, etc.
However, even if target health shows a high number this doesn't mean they can't die easily. It isn't like everyone you run across will have something like Gamer's Body.
[ID's Create and Destroy] (Active)
Make pocket dimensions filled with enemies.
Available Dungeons
-[Zombies]
Gamer? Is my life going to become that of a video game character?
Correct, it is.
This doesn't mean everything won't be real though.
That is… AWESOME!
Hmmm, that is the first bit of excitement you have experienced since talking to me.
That is interesting.
Now, you have a choice to do.
Choose your race.
[Human, [?, [?, ...
Selecting a question mark can be anything.
From a cockroach to a Dragon God.
I don't want to risk being a cockroach. I'll choose a Human.
Race Chosen
[Human]
Humans are the most populated race across the Multiverse. This doesn't mean they are the strongest though. They are normally jacks of all trades and masters of none.
Gain 25% bonus class exp.
Select a starting class.
[Fighter, [Rogue, [Mage, [Support]
That bonus exp is going to be amazing. I didn't get a lot of chance to play games in my past life, but when I did, grinding was the worst.
The amount of time I spent at libraries is nothing to scoff at. It was fun though. I just spent it watching anime, reading, and playing games on their computers.
I don't know the world I'm going to, so I don't think a fighter class would be good to start. What if I had a world like Dragonball? No, matter what type of marital arts class I chose, I wouldn't be prepared. Support classes would be a horrible decision because I would be forced to rely on others.
I'm not going to lie and say Rogue isn't appealing. They are normally the ones with a mix between mage, fighter, and supports. It just they are normally weaker in general than the others and only beat support because of the versatility.
Not saying they don't have a chance to be stronger than the other classes, but I can't pass up the chance of pure magic. Mage is my choice.
Choose a Specialization.
[Necromancer, [Beast Mage, [Druid, [Diviner, [Abjurer, [Illusionist, [Elementalist, [Locked, [Locked]
That is a lot of options. I'm sure in time I will be able to choose several specializations, but for a starting one… I don't know what is best.
Necromancer is powerful on many fronts. However, is normally frowned upon no matter the world. Beast mage sounds amazing if it is anything like the Strauss siblings from Fairytale. Druid. No, just no. Diviner has no offensive capabilities that I know of. Abjurer could be beneficial, but it is the same as Diviner. Illusionist would only work until the illusions break. Elementalist is something that is straight forward and powerful.
Having control over the elements is good in any world. Even if I get to only start with one element at first. In the long run it will allow me to level the fastest. Well, Elementalist it is.
Choose a Starting Element.
[Water, [Earth, [Fire, [Air, [Ice, [Lightning, [Locked, [Locked, …
Looking at these elements I want to choose Lightning badly just because of the power behind it. However, in the list of starting elements one has the potential to control all of them. Air. All of these elements can be controlled with Air.
Water can be picked up in an air bubble and thrown around. If I can control the temperature of the air I use. I could just freeze water and throw around Ice. Earth is the same as water and ice. It isn't difficult to cause a spark to start a fire. The wind is what keeps fire alive giving it oxygen to get stronger or taking it away to get weaker. I could use the wind to blow the fire around. Lightning can be created by mixing cold and warm air together to create thunderstorms.
It may be difficult or straight up impossible to directly control the lightning with my wind element, but it still creates it. Air has to be my choice.
Wendy from Fairy tail says it best.
Do not underestimate the infinite power of air, it can be as gentle as a breeze yet violent like a storm.
Class Gained
[Wind Mage] – 1/100 0%
Gives five Intelligence and five Wisdom per level
Skills Gained
[Air Infusion] (Active)
Cost 100 MP
Empower or energize anything touched or used with air/wind.
Gives extra slicing, impact, and piercing damage.
Increases length and durability of weapons.
[Air Blast] (Active)
Cost 20 MP
Release air/wind over a target area.
Can push back enemies and cause damage.
[Wind Sword]
Cost 75 MP
Have the wind solidify to form into a sword.
[Zap] (Active)
Cost 25 MP
Release a small burst of wind to cause little pain and discomfort.
Slows enemies and lowers defense.
[Wind Pillar] (Active)
Cost 50 MP
Create a solid pillar of Wind. For protection or a foothold.
These skills are good to start off with. Gives me some nice defensive options and offensive ones. It is a slight discomfort getting knowledge crammed into my head, but it is worth it. Wish I could have gotten more skills, but I'm sure more will come in time.
What is next, Game?
The Status Sheet.
Kaze

Kaze? That means wind. Did my name get chosen based on class? That isn't my name… wait what was my name before death?
I took the liberty of giving you a new name.
It's a new life, new you.
Also, Kaze is a good name and it fits with wind. Not changing it, so your stuck with it.
Now, you are on the final stretch of… Character Creation? Might as well call it that.
Do you want to roll for perks?
However, you have to take on traits, that could become problems.
Can I get rid of the trait?
In time, it is possible.
If you can resist the effects of the trait, you can gain a reduced version of it and then eventually a quest to remove it.
I guess it wouldn't hurt to try.
Trait Gained
[Sin of Wrath]
You have a short temper and become uncontrollable when enraged.
Perk Gained
[Enhanced Magic Core]
Magic is more entwined with your being causing you to regenerate it faster than many.
Mana regen from Wis is doubled.
I… I don't know how to feel about that. I've never been a person to get angry. Hopefully, I can learn to control my rage, the mana regen is amazing though. That gives me a path to being OP.
I'll take another trait.
Trait Gained
[Sin of Lust]
You are an incarnate of Lust.
You are drawn to opposite sex and sexual acts.
You have an sexual endurance that rivals that of an incubus.
Perk Gained
[Charming Façade]
You seem to give off a charming appearance.
Making people like you faster. Reputation and Affection gain is much easier.
This perk and trait work well together.
Honestly, I never got the chance to lose my virginity before I died, this increases my chances of getting laid. As long as the Sin of Lust doesn't make me lose control of myself, I'll be fine… I hope.
I will roll again.
Trait Gained
[Kleptomaniac]
You can't seem to keep your hands-off things that aren't yours. You will find that things that don't belong to you often will be in your possession.
Perk Gained
[Lady Luck's Secret Love Child]
Increase loot drops and the rarity of them.
Games of chance are much easier to win.
Gacha and dice rolls never give a blank result.
Allows a reroll of the Gacha every ten tokens.
That perk is the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. That trait though could lead to some incidents. It doesn't even seem like controlling it will be easy either. The way the descriptions sounds seems like I'll grab items not even realizing it.
What world am I going to, Game?
The easiest world to gain a family.
Danmachi.
The family you make won't be by blood, but family doesn't have to be.
I'm not going to complain about this. Mythology is my favorite subject of all time. This world has gods from Norse, Greek, Roman, and, Egyptian. Probably even more but those are the main ones I care about.
Gaining a family with a God in it is even better than I could have hoped.

-Scene Change-
"Ah, my head. Where am I?" I said holding my head in pain.
Looking around I find myself in a field outside of a town.
"It's beautiful." I couldn't help but say looking around at my surroundings. It was an amazing experience. There was no pollution, no overly decorated buildings that ruined the scenery, and animals ran rampant around in the fields.
The city was the sight that caught my interest. I knew that there was a tower in Orario that held a dungeon, but I never expected it to be so… big. The Tower of Babel if I'm not mistaken is what it is called.
I couldn't see it in detail from where I stood outside the town, but it didn't look to even have deterioration. Which is interesting because a tower that big you would expect to show some weather damage. Nope, it looked to have just been built.
"Well, I should get moving if I'm going to make it to the town anytime soon. Probably isn't save for me to stay in the open. May end up being attacked by monsters. Actually, that may be beneficial for experience." I mused to myself started the long trek to the city.
-Hestia-
I was looking around Orario like always for any Familia members. It was difficult though because no one wanted to join an unpopular God.
Also, a God know for leaching off others. Hephaestus Familia doesn't like me for that exact reason. I always just stayed in my room and ate their food and used them. Not paying anything back in return.
Hephaestus told me that she wouldn't take care of me for long when I came down. I should have tried a long time ago to move out but just was constantly lazy. Eventually, she and her Familia had enough, and I got forced out.
It wasn't like I got left with nothing though. Hephaestus at least caring for me still gave me a home in the destroyed part of town in the church. At least that is one good sign. It wasn't that run down and didn't look like it would fall at any time, so it was more than I could ask.
The problem was I still needed a Familia. I can't be the only God in the lower world who never had at least one member. I will become even more of a laughingstock among the gods.
Which is everything I deserve in all honesty. Shouldn't have been a freeloader when I came down to the lower world.
In heaven was the same with people always talking about me behind my back. Even my fellow goddesses talked about me.
Then again that was more because I didn't want to get close to anyone. I was one of the three virgin goddesses in heaven and many gods would make bets seeing how long this would be the case.
Mainly why I stayed by myself or spent time with my two friends. Hephaestus and Artemis. It wasn't like I didn't have more friends, but they didn't talk down to me. They just wanted to encourage me to become better.
It broke my heart when they left Heaven. They did recommend for me to go down with them, but I was scared at first.
I didn't know how to feel about losing access to my godly powers. Stayed up there for many more years afterward before I cracked and wanted to see them.
Descending and finding Hephaestus and living with her. Artemis, I couldn't ever find her. She was one of the best hunters in Heaven and with her not living in Orario it was all, but impossible to find her in the wild.
Gods can normally sense when another God descends. So, I thought Artemis would feel my presence and come see me. However, I've been down here for two years and she hasn't tried to see me.
I shouldn't think of all this sadness.
Right now, I need to find at least one Familia member.
I've already checked Babel earlier to see if any new adventurers were signing up, to try and get them in my Familia but found no one. Maybe now will be different, so Babel here I come.
-Freya-
I was looking out over Orario on top of the tower of Babel drinking one of the finest wines, worthy of a Goddess. My aide was next to my side ready to protect me at all cost. Ottar was always an obedient little adventurer.
I lucked out finding him all the years ago.
This would be a normal everyday thing of mine when a presence pressured me that cause me to drop my wine.
I clutched my arm rests of my chair struggling to breath.
Ottar rushed to me drawing his giant sword looking around expecting an intruder.
The presence only lasted a few moments before leaving. After the presence left I caught my breath before looking out over Orario trying to find it.
Not finding a trace of it I looked over at Ottar.
"It is fine, Ottar. There isn't an intruder. Go back to being my aid." I told him.
I could see he was hesitant even with his facial features not changing. Over the long years of knowing him, I've been able to pick up a bit on what he is thinking or feeling.
Residing to follow my orders he put his sword down before returning to his spot to guard over me.
Looking back over Orario, I couldn't get the thought of that presence out of my head.
It was powerful, not even all the Gods in Orario releasing their arcanum matched up to it.
"I wonder, if I could get this person on my side." I mused to myself pouring myself another glass of wine.
-3rd person-
All the Gods in the lower realm all felt the same presence, and all had trouble breathing.
They all were wanting to know why, where, and how a being of the power decided to come to the lower world.
Many gods were wondering if they could exploit this being.
-Kaze-
I think I should warn you.
I accidently let my presence out when bringing you to this world.
All the Gods in the lower realm have felt your presence.
Well, more accurately your arrival, they felt my presence.
Seriously, you couldn't have kept your presence in.
It isn't like they will know who you are.
I'll be more careful from now on.
You suck.
I guess I'll have to deal with it.
Like you said they don't know I am. I'll just need to keep a low profile and not attract attention to fast with that.
*Scoffs*
…Did you just scoff?
Good luck with not drawing attention.
You do know to actually get a family you need to meet people, right?
Not even talking about your power.
You do know in this world magic is rare, right?
Even if someone has magic, the max they will have is three.
You don't have any such limit.
Oh, that is something I didn't know.
…This is going to become a problem isn't it?
Most likely.
I'll deal with the problem when it rises.
Right now, I'm just going to explore the city.
Ending up making it to the town. I thought it would be exhausting because of the distance, but no. I felt more refresh than I ever have.
Must be because of Gamer's Body. It makes my body that of a video game character. I can only ever recall video game characters getting tired after losing stamina, but it regenerates quickly meaning they are only tired for a moment.
This is skill is so broken.
"Ganesha! That is who I am. I'm the God that guards this city." A guy wearing an elephant mask dropped in front of me when I was about to enter the gate.
Causing me to jump back a few feet in surprise.
"Um, can I go inside?" I asked trying to get away from the strange god.
"Before you enter, I want to know if you hold any ill will. I don't want any misconduct in the city. I would be a failure of God if I allowed any such thing." he said looming over me his eyes squinting slightly through his mask.
"I came here looking for a family. I heard you could find one here" I said honestly.
"If that is the case why don't you join my Familia?" he asked surprising me.
"Didn't you just suspect me of being up to no good? What is up with the quick change of personality?" I asked him.
"I feel like something is unique about you. I don't know what it is though." he said observing me more closely making me uncomfortable.
"I will have to decline. You creep me out." I told him.
"Oh, you hurt Ganesha with your words. I won't force you though. That is not my way." he said clutching his chest in mock pain. "I wish you luck in finding a Familia. You may enter the city. Don't get up to no good or you will find yourself exiled."
"I'll keep that in mind, Lord Ganesha." I said with an awkward smile waving goodbye.
"I am GANESHA!" he yelled when I was walking away.
That was one weird God.
He didn't seem like a bad person, but he was strange.
I don't think I'd fit well with his Familia. There are plenty more I can hopefully join.
The city is really beautiful up close.
Stalls are set up lining the streets. People are smiling and going about their everyday life. I can see the few shifty people in the crowd though. Like the few who are standing in the alleyways looking like they are searching for easy targets.
Better not drop my guard or they may think I am easy. Which I don't think I am an easy target.
If anything of what The Game said is anything to go by. I have more magic than anyone will ever have. I started off with nine.
When the rare people who do have the luck of having magic can only hold three.
I really did luck out in dying and catching the attention of The Game.
Well, I better live this life to the fullest.
…Wait.
What should I even do?
I want to experience having a family that is my number goal, but I don't know what I should do after.
Want my help?
I can offer some… advice.
At times of great decisions, I can also give a Guidance program.
Do you want my help?
If you have advice for me, I'll take it.
Hmm… give me a moment.
I'm going to give you some quests complete them if you want.

These are just a few quests to get you started.
Should give you some ideas other than having a family and some incentive for them.
You don't have to complete them.
Only one quest is kind of not optional.
If you can't tell by quest rewards you won't be stuck in this world forever.
You have many paths you can take to leave.
As long as you "complete" the story you get another world.
However, there are many stories in each world.
If you had to complete all stories leaving would be impossible.
That is a lot of information. Could you not have condensed it? Maybe even just said some rewards were repeats.
I was just making sure you knew everything you can obtain.
I guess I can't complain about that.
You know, I mainly just wanted to get a family. I didn't care about growing stronger, but it seems I have to.
I don't want to gain a family and end up losing them.
Meaning Antares has to go for one and I need to become a God.
Never thought I would say that.
Should have made something clear.
You won't be a God with gaining the Godly Arcanum.
You just obtain the power of one.
This is still enough for your Harem quest though.
Yeah, should have made that clear.
Looking through these quests I can see that becoming completely evil seems to come with consequences.
The complete evil paths come with less rewards and sometime even bad ones.
Making an enemy of the world doesn't seem smart.
The Rapist trait doesn't sound nice either. Don't think I could become a monster like that.
However, I don't think I'll be a complete good guy either. Maybe more in a gray area.
We will see in time.
Maybe you change your mind once you gain more power.
Like they say, power can corrupt.
The quests and paths will still be on the list as long as not failed.
I am curious on what you choose.
I'm glad I can be of entertainment.
Being entertainment is getting annoying quickly. I won't complain much because I got this insane power now, but it still makes me a little angry.
…Wait.
That is my Sin of Wrath coming into effect isn't it?
Yep, at least you're not getting enraged.
That trait may become an issue if something as small as you watching my actions affects the trait.
I'll work to hold this on a leash.
Right now, I'm going to go to the dungeon. Also, I'm not talking about my ID Dungeons. The actual Tower of Babel.
If I want to join a Familia or a family. That would be the easiest place.
Quest added
[Join a Familia]
Find a Familia willing to take you in.
Rewards – Possible family, Easy access to main cast, Easier access to dungeon, 5,000 XP
Failure – No Familia, Harder time with interactions with Main Cast, dungeon advisors may try and prohibit your entrance to dungeon, Harder time with gaining a family

Kill 100 Monsters [0/100]

Failure – Complete within 24 hours after entering dungeon or get nothing.
Well, I'm going to the dungeon anyway might as well grind a little.
I wonder what will be better for me.
My ID's or the actual dungeon.
Something to test out in the future.
First, I'm going to go to Babel though.
I guess this is the start of my new life as the Adventurer Gamer.
Author Note: First Chapter of Adventurer Gamer.
If people have read my other story "Gamer of the Wind". You will have seen I had made many mistakes in it. Like not giving my OC any goals and just put him in a world not fit for his power level.
I am writing this story to hopefully fix my mistakes. Giving a character people can more grow an attachment with. My other story will still be continued though.
If it isn't obvious this story concept is similar to my "Gamer of the Wind". My OC still has the power of wind and with similar perks. Just won't start off as completely OP. He starts off in a world able to hold up with a Gamer's rapid increase. However, this world isn't in DW Shiro's omniverse. Obviously, it is still inspired by his stories though.
This story is going to have a gray OC. Along the lines of Chaotic Neutral. Hopefully, I can keep it Chaotic Neutral. I've noticed that it is a little difficult keeping a character in a certain alignment.
Actually, recently reread Shiro's Conquest story and saw the alignment he had for his OC Kuro. The alignment was literally Kuro.
Wish I could just put the alignment as my OC name. However, isn't what I'm going for in this story for my character personality.
I have one important thing to say about this story.
The wiki on Danmachi actually gives the status of the characters and their levels. My story is basically scraping the original system of the anime. If my OC uses observe for example, he will see the targets status setup similar to his own. However, by their level I'm going to have in parentheses their level in the anime.
Meaning when I talk about their levels it won't be the higher number from the Game system. Hopefully, this make since, it should become clearer when I have Kaze observe someone.
Just wanted to clear that up, so I wouldn't get reviews screaming that Danmachi has a different system.
Edit:
Sorry about this mistake with Ganesha having a pig mask. It was late and wrote two chapters in a day. I was exhausted. It won't happen again.
