Lightz: Oops, almost forgot. Welcome to a new chapter. Enjoy what comes in this chapter, because it's time we moved to the final arc. So enjoy this out-of-season Christmas Omake and the return of Hitomi. Now if you'll excuse me, I have a remote duel tournament soon.
- Omake -
It's December 25th, a cold winter evening in Musutafu; it's a white Christmas indeed. With all of the actions of the year in mind, all of Japan enjoys this merriment. In one such place are the heroes in the training of UA High.
"MERRY CHRISTMAS!" They shout, shooting off celebratory poppers that cover themselves and the floor in confetti. Dressed in Christmas-themed clothing and surrounded by food, drinks, and a tree, the teenagers enjoy themselves.
Denki sits back on the couch while yawning. "Ah, man. I can't believe we're finally here; the year is freaking over!"
"Now, Kaminari, no need to almost swear," Tenya tells him in his authoritative tone.
"Oh, chillax for one moment, Ingeneral," Mina tells the four-eyed one. "We get a week off from work and you wanna ruin it with these restrictions?"
Fumikage holds up a can of Sprite while resting in a seat. "I wouldn't actually mind working with Hawks again."
Melissa is there as well, clad in a Santa dress. She notes Katsuki is the only one not in the Christmas spirit, but that is wont of him. She approaches him. "Bakugo, won't you join the rest of us?"
"I showed up, didn't I?" he says, eyes ahead and nowhere in her direction.
As she sighs to that predicament, the door opens up. "Sorry, I'm late. Oh, you already started."
Aizawa is there with Ochako Uraraka. Like them, she's also dressed for the holidays. "Uh, hi…"
The others look to her, with Izuku being the first to speak. "Welcome to the party!"
She smiles a little while coming closer. Ashido cheerfully takes her arm saying, "Come! We've been waiting to hang out with you."
This takes her by surprise. "You have?"
"Of course! I'm sure you have a lot of interesting stories to throw at us!" Ashido brings her to the girls.
As Ochako becomes friends with the girls, Izuku groups with Momo all by her lonesome. The two sit together in enjoying comfort. She places a hand on his lap, saying, "It's been a long year."
"Yeah, it has," he replies with equal exhaustion.
"To think that 365.25 days ago, we had never known each other. Now here we are in a room with our friends, having had many experiences together…" She leans her head on his shoulder.
"Life can be funny like that," he says in admission. "Still, I wouldn't change it for the world."
"Me neither."
"Hey, lovebirds! We're doing the white elephant exchange!" The two gather with the others to collect their items.
They gather their gifts together and each grabs hold of a rope attached to them. Once they all have one in hand, Camie merrily gives the command. "Ready? And, pull!"
The kids pick out their gifts at random. Each of them opens up what they picked, with mixed results.
"A cookbook?" Tenya looks at his item.
Minoru has a pair of wireless earphones.
Camie receives a facial cleanser. "Does someone want to say something?"
"Oh, cool!" Ochako wields a notepad.
Izuku has a giant sword straight out of the darkness.
Shoto has a box of expensive tea leaves. "Oh. These are actually good."
Momo lifts in her hand a green Christmas shirt that would normally be too big for her.
Bakugo is holding up an All Might doll. "Well, it's obvious who fucking this is…"
As everyone takes to enjoying their new stuff, Izuku brandishes his beautiful blade like a JRPG hero. "I didn't think I'd get something this cool."
"I'll admit, this is interesting," Momo tells her boyfriend while looking at the decal on her shirt.
The green teen places his sword on his back, holding it in place with his spider cling, saying, "I'll be surprised; I was expecting to get your gift, and you get my gift."
"That sounds so forced," Momo replies with an almost laughing tone, "especially since this is random."
She then creeps over to him and leaves a note for him. "Read it."
Checking the note, he reads, 'Me, you, Melissa, tonight.' Getting that message, he looks up at both the mentioned ladies with shock in his eyes. They simply wave back, like they didn't just imply something wonderful.
Elsewhere in the City…
"Now Eri, what will you say to Izuku when you see him on New Year?"
"Happy Christmas!" Santa-Eri shouts with her arms thrown up in joy.
Inko, as much as she wants to tell otherwise, gushes at her statement.
Chapter 63: Hot Barrage Zone
It's January the Third. The air of Japan has grown chilly. Atop a building, down at Hosu, Mandalay of the Wild Wild Pussycats stands there looking out at the city. As she does, behind her are the heroes Deku, Shoto, and Dynamight walking up.
"Good, you're here," she says looking back at the trio. There is a glint in her eye seeing Izuku in his red and blue hero suit. "Endeavor sent his best interns?"
"Damn right!" Katsuki says loudly with a toothy grin.
Shino shushes them. "Here's the situation." She points to a building two blocks away. "Three villains inside of that building on the top floor there have trapped people inside. All three are members of Shigaraki's Villain Alliance."
"Who are they?" Izuku asks her.
"Jin Bubaigawara, Dabi, and Hitomi Yatsu." Learning of their names, Izuku flinches. Hitomi has been gone since Tama was shut down, so this will be their first reunion since he saw her there. "I've been watching them since this morning and found them sneaking inside. Nothing has happened yet and they've made no demands, so it's clear they're looking for a fight. But above all else, we have to free the civilians before they become hostages."
Shoto keeps his eyes on the building with deadly accuracy. "Dabi…" He remembers meeting with the one with the blue flame Quirk back during the training camp. He is oddly spiteful, especially to him, as if they know each other.
"Yatsu huh?" Katsuki mutters, recalling the blue-haired girl back during his middle school days. "Let's get going."
Shino calms herself. 'I've called for backup just in case, but we have to go in quietly. Dynamight, you and Deku will take the left of the building and sneak in through the back without letting them see you. Shoto, go in from the front and draw their attention. We go in five minutes.'
All three nod to wordlessly agree with the plan before making their move. As they go into position, Shino follows after Shoto.
Meanwhile…
Inside, regular civilians are on their knees suffering. Standing over them without care is Hitomi in her Wolfram costume. The spider girl holds a sort of capsule the size of a water bottle in her hand. "All of the people not in this room have been vacated. We're the only ones in this building."
She then frowns. "It's rather annoying that I was entrusted with this task, and yet you two are here to make sure I don't fail. Does he not trust my abilities?"
"Considering your failures before, yes," Dabi states with his arms crossed, sitting on a desk.
"You lack focus," Twice tells her as he looks down at the people on their knees. "Hey! No sneaking off!"
"Like you've done better!" She aggressively points at Twice. "What have you done without the help of that old man?"
"I've done plenty! … of nothing."
"And I suppose you have your own achievements you wish to brag about?" Her eyes go to Dabi.
"Losers brag," is his response, "like Muscular, or most heroes. And you."
One of her tentacles slams into a desk. "Oho, you think you're cute?"
"Bitch, I'm adorable."
"Not as much as your little brother." Dabi's mouth slightly lowers. Hitomi brings a tentacle to his face. "I'll explain the part of diving into your background later, but those damn heroes should be here any moment."
Twice turns back to Dabi. "You got an adorable brother?"
"Shut up."
Hitomi then flinches, her spider-sense activating. "They're here. Twice, proceed with the plan."
"Why, here you go!" From his hand, he creates a doppelganger of the wolf spider lady without her tentacles. She climbs the walls and heads for the ceiling.
Outside, Shoto uses his Quirk to freeze open the door before kicking it down. He then rushes inside. Heading up to the appropriate floor, he comes to the hallway before standing just outside the door. Following behind, Shino uses hand signals to send him into hiding before she opens up and steps in to view the situation. She pulls out her tranquilizing pistol in the meantime.
Hitomi narrows her attention to the cat heroine, stating, "Well, look at the cat bringing herself into danger."
"I wish I knew what that meant," is Twice's response.
"You're back to crime already, Wolfram?" Shino prepares herself, eyeing Hitomi and the strange, red item in her hand. Peripherals spot Izuku entering through the ventilation before turning invisible.
"Well, I was expecting someone more important, but I guess they couldn't get anyone else for such a sloppy operation." Hitomi's tentacles move in front of her. "You must be wondering what this is all about."
"If it's not a distraction, it's probably something huge," she replies calmly. Izuku climbs over the ceiling just above Twice. He comes down using webbing to slowly lower himself.
"Well for you and the person you have hiding somewhere in proximity," Hitomi holds up the item in question, "I hope you've been taking your vitamins."
Shino peers in. "This here is a little invention my father took part in, the Breath of a Thousand Deaths; code name, Ibuki. It was created to heal people of the most dangerous of illnesses by combining the genome sequences of several healing Quirks. But it was incomplete before they could finish it; now it incorrectly attacks the immune system causing immunodeficiency and if left untreated death."
This frightens the civilians left in place, shivering at the bioweapon in her hand. Shino holds in a gasp to prevent her mentality from exposure. Even Izuku stops in midair thinking of how dangerous such a thing could be.
Though the telepath thinks further on it; if that's true, why would they flaunt it in front of them? There must be more going on. So remaining quiet, she listens in while telling her fellow assistants, 'Be ready to free the people when I give the word.'
"You're crazy," she shouts. "Do you really think you can get away with this? You'll be contaminated as well."
"As if a stellar, superior, sophisticate like myself would carry around something this dangerous without a vaccine."
"But now you tell us…" Twice mumbles, just as Izuku lands quietly behind him. He karate chops Twice in the neck and catches him just as he falls unconscious, before laying him on the floor.
"Of course, my body is far too healthy to die from such a weapon, but that can't be said about them." Fingers tap against the capsule. "Just one snap and this entire floor will be the epicenter of the red plague."
"You can't!"
"Once you heroes collect and rescue these people, you'll be infected and spread it to other heroes. And even fewer heroes will be available, discouraging the populace from this terrible profession." The capsule is held up high.
A black tendril attaches to the capsule, yanking it out of her hand. Izuku appears into reality to grab it. Reacting fast, two of Hitomi's tentacles fly out at both him and the capsule. Just as he catches it, the metal arms snag his arm and waist, hoisting him in the air.
'Todoroki, Bakugo, move in!' Shino draws out her pistol and aims at Dabi.
Dabi stretches his hand down at one of the civilians, halting her movements. "Not so fast, hero. Did you forget about them?"
"Bugger…" she curses, withdrawing her weapon.
Shoto breaks in through the doorway preparing to make a move. But as he does, the Hitomi clone drops down and forces him to the floor. "Not so fast, Todoroki boy."
"Oh, Midoriya," Hitomi whispers, her tentacles holding up the boy with ease. "How I've wanted to have you in my grasp."
Wordless, Izuku summons One for All in his hand and grabs the tentacle around his waist with it, sending the voltage through it back to Hitomi. She screams out in pain as her grip loosens, allowing Izuku to rip himself free. 'I gotta be careful not to crack it!'
Dabi quickly looks back to see what happened, leaving Mandalay enough time to aim her pistol at the man. Without looking he moves out of the way of her sight, causing her tranquilizer dart to miss. She then jumps away, avoiding the blue flames that came her way.
Shoto erupts flames from his left half, forcing the clone to jump away and avoid cremation. He twists himself, swiping his right hand to release a pillar of ice from the frost he produced.
'We have to do something to protect the hostages. Izuku, smokescreen!' Following Shino's words, Izuku produces a cloud of smoke while remaining knelt. The fog blanket covers the room, with its thickening and blinding those above him.
Mandalay on her hand and knees broadcasts her message to the civilians. 'Everyone, move to the exit! Crawl to avoid the smoke!'
Following her lead, everyone crawls as fast as they can to the exit where she has rushed to.
With his work done, Izuku stands back up to return to combat. His senses kick in when he sees a blast of flames coming his way. But since he can't move otherwise someone could get caught in the stream, he pumps One for All into his fist and punches. The air force made disperses most of the flames, but enough scorches his shoulder, knuckle, and forearm. He also ends up dropping the capsule.
Dabi laughs as the wind hits him slightly. "Good for me that was a light burst. Time for the big one!" He attempts a bigger blast, only to get hit by pellets of explosions from above.
From up high, Katsuki screams, "Die," while blasting them with his AP Shot.
Shoto watches as the clone Hitomi comes at him from above. Catching her shadow, he releases another pillar of ice. She lands on it as it forms and jumps off to avoid being frozen, just as her senses kick off again. A blast of fire seers through the air and everything in its path, including the ceiling and the clone. She falls to the floor and splashes.
As Izuku rests his burnt arm, the tentacles fly out and strike him in the stomach to knock him over. The canister of the bioweapon leaks its forbidden essence, catching his spider-sense. 'Uh oh.' He rolls away before he could be contaminated. He then fires webbing at the capsule, concealing it. "That's not gonna hold."
The tentacles grab hold of Izuku and slam him through the floor. Hitomi then jumps in after him.
Katsuki finishes his assault before landing, just to see that Dabi is dissolving. "The fuck?"
"Not bad for a brainwashed brat," Dabi says before he disperses.
Katsuki and Shoto then look over at the leaking capsule covered in webbing. Despite Izuku's shooting, it's still leaking out. The ice-fire user says, "I better freeze that!"
"Too late for that, icy-hot!" Katsuki barks, aiming with his grenade gauntlet. "All the muggles are gone, so no one will mind a little collateral damage."
"Muggles?"
"Dad likes Harry Potter!" Ignoring that for a moment, Shoto clenches his left fist as his right side cools the area around him. He then heats himself to his limit.
"Flashfreeze Heatwave."
The two combine their attacks into an explosive fire blast. The reckless attack utterly eradicates the capsule, as well as everything behind it including the wall. After this strike, all that is left is the flames produced by the destruction.
Outside with the civilians, Mandalay spots the explosion. She breathes a sigh of relief. 'Those two wouldn't attack so recklessly. They must have been trying to destroy the virus.'
Back inside, after Izuku is sent to the lower floor, the green teen rolls before flipping back to his feet. Hitomi lands down to attack him, using her tentacles to impale him. He easily rolls out of the way to avoid death and stands back up.
"Gotcha!" Twice comes out from behind and grabs hold of Izuku, wrapping his arms around his arms.
'Wait a minute! Why didn't my danger sense warn me?!' He struggles for a bit trying to break free, only to find that Twice is stronger than he took initially.
"Good work, Twice." Hitomi glares at Izuku before pulling out a syringe-like gun. "Now for the real plan."
"Real plan?" He'd use One for All, but he still wants to understand what exactly she is planning.
"What's up there isn't the Ibuki; it was just something I cooked up," she declares, stepping forward. "I wouldn't bring in the real Ibuki, not where it can be broken or stolen easily."
He narrows his visors. "Then, what's this really about?"
"We set up shop here and did all of this because the Endeavor agency was the closest one, all so I can give you this." She gestures to her item. "It's an experimental gene cleanser we created to remove the formula factor. If it can work on Noumu, it can work on you."
"An actual cure?" he asks in shock. "This whole event was put together to take your powers away. It's time for you to go back to being a Quirkless nobody again."
She rushes forward to inject him. But before she could get close enough, Izuku releases an electric current around him that hits Twice hard. He screams unnaturally before stumbling backward, causing him to release Izuku to let him counter Hitomi. His hand grips tightly on something while he falls to the floor.
With his other hand, Black Whip's tendrils fly out to contain Hitomi's tentacles. He uses his right arm's tendrils to contain her arms and legs. With her contained, he moves forward and kicks whatever serum gun she has out of her grasp before grabbing it.
Upon doing so he releases her and punches her with his spider strength in the stomach. The blow causes her to keel over on her knees, before doing a roundhouse kick to send her toppling over. He then jumps on top of her to pin down the woman, while also zapping the module that connects her mechanical arms. At the same time, the destruction happens up above.
"No! This wasn't part of the plan! Twice, you useless-AH!" Izuku injects the cure into her neck. As the serum takes effect, he can feel her body slowly shrinking back to normal.
Done with her weakening, Izuku lifts her. "There we go. Now that's one less person with spider powers."
From up above, Shoto and Katsuki drop down to join Izuku in his conflict. But by now, he has Hitomi with her hands behind her back wrapped in webs. He faces them, asking, "What was that explosion upstairs? Katsuki?"
The blamed blond glares at him, griping, "Why do you automatically assume I was the sole proprietor?"
Shoto also gives him the look. "Why do you know that word?"
"I'm like an onion!"
"Cause you stink?"
"Fuck you!"
Hitomi sighs at their bartering. "Oh great, it's Bakugo."
"That's Dynamight to you, Yatsu," he barks back. "Man, this is sorrowful; first Ganretsu, and now you. Did anyone else from middle school become a wannabe villain out of jealousy?"
"Don't flatter yourself, Natsu," she mocks as condescending as always. "Unlike Midoriya, I knew without a doubt you couldn't succeed in anything BUT being a hero. He has a mind actually worth preserving!"
"I am sick and tired of so many people sucking Deku's dick!"
"Says the guy wearing kneepads," Shoto mutters to himself, almost breaking his cool facade. "But, enough jokes."
He then approaches Hitomi. "We have some questions for you about Shigaraki."
"I'm keeping my right of silence," she retorts. "You rid me of my powers, but I'm still Quirkless. I'll just get injected again and fight smarter. The Ibuki is still out there."
"Giving up and shutting that mouth of yours is the smartest thing you CAN do, and you're not doing it at all," Katsuki growls.
Sighing, Izuku is about to say something to Hitomi. But then, he feels something at his feet. Looking down, his eyes widen as he gasps. "Uh, guys? Do you feel this?" The three other parties glance down at their feet with equal surprise.
A flood of the crimson-colored liquid has flooded the floor, passing by their feet. It has settled and thickened, before slithering like tendrils up their legs. The liquid then lifts the teens, throwing them into four separate directions landing onto desks and other office supplies.
As they recover from the pain, Izuku gets up first being the first to. That is when he sees it; Twice is back on his feet, the source of the liquid coming from them. It slowly retreats into him as his costume melts away, revealing his true appearance.
"Tomura Shigaraki?!" Izuku shouts in terror.
Hitomi, being the last to recover, is the most confused. "Shigaraki? When did… how did… where's Bubaigawara?"
Shigaraki covers his body in the crimson fluid, turning into the monstrous form he once held. The crimson melds and morphs, giving him the sharp claws he adores. His transformation stops there, strangely.
"Oh no…" Izuku then realizes something. That's the monster that attacked them back at Nabu.
"Don't worry so much about Twice," Shigaraki says as he walks to Hitomi. "All I did was steal his Quirk, completely mitigating his little issue."
"Steal his…" Izuku sits up and flinches. Stealing Quirks is something only that person can do.
"Now you just follow through with that stone. I've got another bird to throw in." As he speaks, Shino sneaks in from the doorway with her gun aimed. She fires at Shigaraki, and without looking, he catches it easily with his left hand.
"What?!"
"Oh yeah, Shino Sousaki… I was hoping to see you again." Shigaraki glares back at her. Red rises around his body before molding a more confined form.
He prepares to move in her direction, but before he could Katsuki and Shoto step forth to fight him. The latter releases a stream of flame from his left arm while the former drops an explosion down upon Shigaraki. Smoke billows from the attack, as both of them land.
"We already know how to handle you alien things!" Katsuki says as he sparks his palms.
"The Symbiotes are weak to heat, so this will work on you easily." Shoto watches as the smoke clears away showing that Shigaraki's body is the same.
"The fuck?!"
Shigaraki snickers with pride before his tendrils shoot out and thicken into hammers, slamming into Shoto's ribs. Katsuki blasts out of the way due to his instincts, avoiding the attack. While airborne, red blades shoot out and impale Katsuki's legs and arms. "Damn it!"
"Todoroki! Kacchan!" Izuku gets moving, infusing One for All through his body. At 30 percent, his body reacts just before he reaches Shigaraki. "Detroit Sma-"
Shigaraki catches off guard, with a higher speed as well, and grabs his face. He then slams Izuku into the floor, erupting splinters and whatever else is in the way.
"Izuku!" shouts Shino seeing her beloved taken down so easily.
"When you have multiple Quirks and an altered body to possess them, you can overpower the Symbiote's weakness by healing faster than the damage." Shigaraki then pulls back and charges at Shino, who pulls out some shuriken.
Before she can use them, tendrils fly out and restrain her. One sneaks into her belt and pulls out her ammo. "I'll be taking back the Quirk Destruction Bullets you took."
"You…" He grabs her throat, cutting off her supply of air.
"That reminds me… didn't you say this back then?"
"Looks like the fat lady just sang, Shimura," speaks Shino before drawing her gun and aiming at him, thus cutting Nejire's valid question before it could be answered. "Now, come quietly or lose your Quirk. We have some discussions for you down at the station, you goblin."
"You called me a goblin, so how about I show you how terrible a goblin can be?" He sneers as his form alters; his abs and muscles are visually prominent, dark red with cracks that shine like a solar prominence, a hooked tail extends out from behind him, and sharp, yellow eyes with black slits for irises.
With his ears extended and pointy, he indeed resembles a goblin.
He looks back to see Shoto has stood back up. Stomping, he sends a trail of ice at him. Shigaraki summons a red ball with a face and mouth full of sharp teeth and throws it at the frost. It contacts the ice and explodes, the heat blowing the fire-ice user away.
"Binging Ball plus Landmine with Carnage's properties create homing bombs that bite."
With him down, Shigaraki releases the already unconscious Shino. She hits the ground with a hard thud. Free, the red goblin moves over to Hitomi, who is so afraid she's tearing. "Now, remember the plan." He then flicks her head, knocking her unconscious.
Finally managing to recover, Izuku gets back up and digs into his belt. 'I'm so glad I brought the metal suit with me.' As he searches, his eyes widen in horror when a fact occurs to him.
"Looking for this?" Digging into his red flesh, Shigaraki shows him the box that houses the nanobots that compose his armored suit. "I wasn't about to let you draw out the weapon that let you defeat Nine."
Izuku grits his teeth. "Shigaraki."
"No no. Not Shigaraki. I am Kotaro Shimura." More red balls fly out at Izuku.
The spider boy fires lightning blasts at them, but that leaves him open to an ax impaling his stomach. Shimura then lunges forward and slams him through a wall. While at close range, Izuku spreads One for All through his body, spitting up blood as a result, while Shimura slams another bomb at Izuku's chest.
The explosion caps wide across the air. From it flies Izuku, who forces himself to recover. With his Black Whip, he swings from that building across the air to recover using the momentum. 'Why isn't my danger-sense warning me? The only time it stays off is when someone I don't consider a threat comes to me! The only exception was…'
No time left to realize the truth as Shimura bursts through the hole following Izuku out into the quickly blackening skies. 'If he has multiple Quirks, then he must have All for One… but for how long?!'
One for All sparks through his body as he clashes with the Symbiote wielder, engaging in a hand-to-hand grapple. Even as they fall, the energy of his Quirk contacts Shimura's hands. Izuku notices that despite his recovery speed, the damage is still building up.
Shimura's right leg slams into Izuku's ribs, sending him flying skyward and knocking the wind out of him. Despite that, the spider teen manages to pull himself together and stop in the air using Float. "Heads up!"
Alerted by his opponent, the spider looks up and spots several of those mouth ball bombs that have surrounded him. 'When did he have time to do this?! No, don't think. Just do.'
He prepares One for All around his body, twitching as the pain hits him. Black Whip spurts out of him for added effect. Just as he's about to be struck, he spins around shouting, "Oklahoma Smash!"
Kei: Wait, is that it?
Ryusei: Yeah.
Kei: Where's the rest?!
Ryusei: Next chapter. One person cared enough to actually comment on the chapter so we're going to make it up to him.
Kei: Wasn't this what happened in the original? And Emerald Lightning? And Black Hazard?!
Ryusei: Of course not! That one guy was the one commenting that this was poorly done and shit shit, and immediately didn't care because he's a toxic critic who only read our stories to have something negative to say. Like card reviewers.
Kei: I don't know.
Ryusei: Look, let's just get a move on. We have a lot of work to do in the next chapter.
