Kagome panted for air, chest heaving and lungs barely working right. They'd ended up in a battle where she had been fighting a group of youkai of her own when she had gotten separated from the group… again. During the battle, she had been cornered and somehow fell into a river. The water had been moving too quickly to properly catch her bearings and she was mercilessly dragged down stream.
The worst thing about the whole situation, was that when she was finally able to get out of the water, her jeans were so soaked they packed on extra weight and her white shirt was now see through. She had also lost her weapons to the rapids and was in a horrible mood. And just when it couldn't possibly get worse... it started to rain.
Finding a cave to stay in wasn't all that hard thankfully. Some Kami was looking out for her that way at least. The problem was that she was cold and couldn't make a fire with wet wood. She didn't have her bag with her and was beginning to sniffle as the chill set in. And it was getting dark on top of it all. Just misfortune stacked upon misfortune.
She hugged her knees to her chest and growled in annoyance. Why did these kinds of thing always happen to her? She had the worst luck in the world.
Suddenly, a coldness that was much worse than what she was feeling on the outside flooded the cave, seeping into her bones. She shivered while looking at the entrance to see something shocking. It was a youkai, who had a strong resemblance to Sesshomaru of all beings, but had ears like Inuyasha. Admittedly, a cross between adorably and devilishly handsome.
"Hello, little ningen," he purred as he moved closer, a sway about his movements that spoke of confidence and seduction.
Kagome couldn't tell if he was a wolf, a dog, or a fox though. Either way, she knew well enough not to let him get any closer to her than he already was. She was the one at a disadvantage even if she'd obtained some actual training in the last few years.
"Go away," she mumbled.
The youkai paused in his stride and fixed her with a shocked look. It quickly shifted into one of confusion as he obviously was used to lonely ningen talking down to him. "Aren't you going to cry because you're scared?" he asked with a cocked brow.
She snorted, "I'm not scared of you."
The honesty in her tone was easily noticed and he stepped back in shock.
She let out a huff. "I'm just annoyed. 'Cause if you're a dog, you'll start acting like I'm someone for you to push around and control. If you're a wolf, you'll probably claim that I'm 'your woman' and have to remain by your side at all times, and if you're a fox, I really don't feel like staving off your attempts at seduction."
Kagome gave him her most annoyed look, trying to get it across that she wasn't in the mood to deal with him and that he should just fuck off back to wherever he'd come from.
The youkai stared at her. She couldn't dissect the expression and rolled her eyes in annoyance when nothing happened.
"I'm a Gingitsune and I have no wish to seduce you. I just want to hear you scream," the youkai smirked, disappearing from her view.
She felt a hard grip her hair that yanked her head back. Her eyes connected with a dark violet and she held back a blush. What was with her attracting the sexy, silver-haired males?! Sesshomaru, Inuyasha, Youko, and now this guy. Maybe she had a spiritual type or something.
"Are you going to scream for me, ningen?" the youkai asked while he caressed her face with faux concern.
She glared at him and brought her hands up to run them through his hair. He jerked back a little when her fingers grabbed harshly onto his ears and she squeezed as hard as she could.
"Not in the way you want!" she yelled loudly at his head.
He flinched and distanced himself from her immediately. He glared at her as he rubbed his sore ears that were no doubt throbbing in pain but also ringing from her shouting.
Kagome thanked her lucky stars that she knew about such weaknesses. Inuyasha and Youko were a big help in that area. And she also might have a bit of an ear fetish. Just a bit.
The youkai was watching her with a narrowed gaze. "Why aren't you afraid of me?" he demanded, sounded offended.
She snorted, "I don't have to be afraid of you. I know for a fact that I could kill you without a problem."
Her answer seemed to intrigue him and he fixed her with a bewildered expression. "Oh really? And how would you accomplish this, little ningen?" he asked in a taunting tone.
Kagome's mouth curved into a sadistic smile that she had learned from Inuyasha. One that could scare anyone and it seemed to have the effect on the youkai. She let the dam that was suppressing her reiki break, and her power flooded the cave without hesitation. Her hair had even begun to float from the release, and her eyes took on a minor, pink glow. "You were saying?" she asked with a raised brow.
The fox hissed. He hadn't known that she was a miko! From her little power surge, he could easily tell that she wasn't lying. So the strangely dressed, ningen onna was a powerful miko who hadn't killed him yet. Briefly he wondered why.
Not even ten seconds after she had let her power go, she bottled it up again, leaving no indication that anything had even happened, but his fur remained ruffled and standing on end anyway.
"Why don't you kill me if you can do it?" he asked, not understanding.
She shrugged. "You haven't really done anything to me. And besides, I don't believe in killing without reason. Will you go away now? I want to wait for my friends in peace."
He glared at her, but knew not to push the issue. Turning from the strange ningen and looked over his shoulder and said, "I will go for now. But know this, miko, I will do whatever I want, when I want." He moved to the cave opening. Before departing he called over his shoulder, "My name is Tomoe. Remember it!"
Kagome spent the night in the rain, thinking about the strange demon. She felt a little glad for the rain, because walking out into it completely washed away the scent of the creature that had touched her. When Inuyasha had found her the next day, he wasn't able to smell the other male and for that she was grateful. he would have thrown the biggest fit otherwise.
Looking back on her encounter, she couldn't help but wonder if she really was going to see the male again. She secretly hoped so. The reason being the same one as her wanting Sesshomaru to show up or for Youko to stop by. She needed something attractive to look at and seeing Inuyasha all the time wasn't enough. He got a bit boring after a while.
Well, a single miko can only hope for so much, I guess. But still, even though he caught me at a bad time, he was unfairly hot! That hair and those eyes! Oh please, Kami-sama, let me see him again!
A/N: The first is finished!
