Peter Parker had been deaf for ten years. When he was eleven his uncle had been shot in front of him and the murdered apparently had a thing against both killing a child and leaving a witness. He pistol whipped Peter before fleeing the scene, unfortunately hitting children in the head can cause permanent brain damage which in Peter's case left him completely deaf. Aunt May tried her best and the two learned ASL and Peter attended speech therapy and learned to read lips most people can't tell he's deaf. At least when they talk to him that's not what they assume but they often admit that it makes sense that he's deaf. He's not ashamed of it, in fact he's proud that he got though high school with a 4.0 without a crucial sense. When he got bit by a radioactive spider at 15 it enhanced all of his senses but of course not his hearing. At first he was disappointed but eventually he found it funny that spiders couldn't hear and neither could he. Being Spiderman was hard in high school but Peter's in college now and it is so much harder. Sure he doesn't have to sneak out away from May every night but he also has to make a living and being deaf doesn't exactly make it easy. Peter settles with selling pictures of himself to the daily bugle which isn't hard work perhaps but being disabled at the daily bugle is emotionally exhausting. This made Spider-manning a welcome outlet for all the anger at being treated poorly through-out the day went. Yes he was deaf and yes he was Spiderman.
Today had been a particularly annoying day where J.J had yelled, well at least Peter figured he was yelling, at him that he wasn't really disabled and he was doing it for attention because he could have just gotten hearing aids and his interpreter had shown up late for his classes today which made the rest of the lesson confusing. But it was all fine Peter thought to himself as he pulled on his suit and slipped out his window, slinging his webs out on to roof tops waiting for his spidey sense to alert him to trouble in the city while he enjoyed the feeling of being free and capable. Of being a person that people never questioned if he could do his job or not. It was freeing and exhilarating and it was Peter's favorite part of everyday. Attaching his webs to a taller building Peter swung up to the top pulling himself on to the roof allowing himself to stare over the amazing city that was New York. Spreading his arms out Peter he was on top of the world the problems of today forgotten. Suddenly his spidey sense tingled alerting him to a person on the roof. spinning on his heel he spotted the figure in question thirty feet away from him. A massive man dressed head to toe in red and black leather and Kevlar, Deadpool. Unfortunately head to toe costume meant his mouth was covered. Peter's was too but he knew how to sign and would of course if asked. Usually Peter would start the conversation with another super by explaining he couldn't hear and that he needed the other to list their mask at least a little. Unfortunately, the exact moment that Deadpool took a step forward happen to be when his spidey-sense burned at the base of his skull, something was happening in the city and he had to go stop it. He gave Deadpool a small salute before flipping of the building and swinging into the night allowing his sense to guide him to the trouble, a bank robbery. Webbing up and disarming the bad guys took a few moments, they we untrained and had no hostages. and in less than half an hour the police showed up and Peter was out swinging in the night again. He was left to think about his meeting with Deadpool, he had seen him a few times around but never talked to him in fact today was the closest he'd even been to him. Peter had been warned that the man was a cold blooded killed but he had never seen the man do anything terrible and Peter had a thing about actually making sure people were bad and not just taking someone else's word for it. Otherwise he was no better than a henchman himself. Peter didn't have many thoughts on Deadpool other than the fact that he was crazy jacked and Peter wouldn't mind getting to know him a little bit better. No- not like that- gross- the had never even talked Peter pushed the thought from his head and decided that it was probably time for him to get some sleep. The young man swung back to his apartment stripping himself of his suit triple checking that all the windows were locked before climbing bed. Over the next few days every time he put on the Spiderman suit he spotted Deadpool out of the corner of his eye watching him fight crime however everytime he was done webbing up the bad guy he turned to wave over Deadpool his back was turned. Unfortunately, yelling wasn't something Peter could do as Spiderman, he couldn't regulate his volume too well and he had been told when he yelled he sounded like he had been shot. Instead Peter gave up on Deadpool being anything else than a creepy watcher.
Two weeks after seeing Deadpool on the roof Peter got a text from Tony Stark half way through class that there was a battle happening down town and he was needed. Excusing himself from the Physics class signing to his interpreter that his Aunt was sick and she needed someone to drive her to the hospital before fleeing the school. Luckily he had brought his suit to school that day and ran to find an ally to quickly change in before webbing off in the direction he could see smoke coming from above the tops of the buildings. Once Peter arrived he was greeted by the entity of the Avengers a massive robot and ... Deadpool? He didn't have much time to think of the later because as soon as the robot he's him a huge arm swings out causing Peter to roll sideways to avoid being crushed. The fight lasted a little over an hour but was exhausting none the less. Twice Peter was flung into a building only to have to pull himself back up to attack the monstrosity. Once he pulled Deadpool out of the way of the arm only to find himself the new target of the arm and have to swing in the other direction dropping the mercenary.
Once the battle was over Peter dropped down to sit on the concrete to catch his breath. Tony came over removing his mask to tell Peter that he needed to be checked over by the medical staff before returning home. Holding his hand out for Tony to pull him up with the young man got to his feet and was walking over to the medical tent when Deadpool and Clint caught his eye he wanted to finally talk to Deadpool after all this stalking.
"One second Mr. Stark I want to go talk to Deadpool" Peter said at first Iron man looked confused and gestured to Deadpool's mask but shrugged he knew better than to question Peter's capability. Peter had gone on enough tangents over the past six years about people telling him what he could and couldn't do as if they knew his disability Peter than him. Jogging over to the two men he could see Clint on the verge of laughing but he couldn't tell what exactly was happening with Deadpool. Lucky for Clint he had hearing aides that for the most part allowed him to hear and he didn't no have to rely on reading lips like Peter which meant he could hear what Deadpool was saying even though the Mercenary kept his mouth covered. Approaching the conversation Peter pulled his mask up to his nose just to make it easier on Clint but he would sign when he talked just in case. Once he reached the other two men Clint immediately turned to Peter
"Deadpool thinks your ignoring him" Clint said bitting his lip to contain his laughter. Peter however cocked his head
"Why?" Peter asks Clint
"Because when he yells at you from across the street you never respond" Now Peter got it Clint threw back his head laughing and Peter chuckled giving Deadpool a once over.
"Tell Deadpool that I'm not mad at him" Peter said he decided he was going to have a little more fun with this. Looking closely he could see that Deadpool's mouth was moving underneath his mask. Peter turned to Clint who was trying to gain composure
"Deadpool said to tell you to prove it" considering his options, He could tell Deadpool he was deaf, or have fun confusing the supposedly very observant mercenary.
"Give me your phone you can have my number" Peter decides Clint is taken aback but giggles about whatever Deadpool says next. The mercenary handed over a phone which Peter put his number in and put his name as Spiderman texting himself from Deadpool's phone. He pulls out his own phone after receiving the text and writes back Figure out why I'm ignoring you smart guy before turning on his heel and heading to the medical tent where had a few cuts bandaged up but was soon allowed to go home where he promptly slept fro thirteen hours. Waking up he found five texts from Deadpool and two missed calls. Peter couldn't answer the phone but he did wonder that Deadpool thought of his voicemail message "If you have my number you should know better than to call me"
Deadpool 3:45 PM Why are you mad
Deadpool 5:00 PM I didn't even do anything to you
Deadpool 6:41 PM Are you asleep? Why did you give me your number if you weren't going to answer
Deadpool 9:34 PM Come on talk to me youre my favorite super hero
Deadpool 1:58 AM Youre so mean :(
Spiderman 7:11 AM I was asleep
Peter set down the phone but not more than a minute later a notification went off vibrating the phone
Deadpool 7:12 AM OMG
Deadpool 7:12 Am You answered
Deadpool 7:12 AM we should meet up today I'll bring food or we could go out to eat I know the best taco place.
Peter considered the offer and eventually decided that he was Spiderman what could go wrong
SPiderman 7:13 AM Sure what time
