A/N I don't know Na'vi so please don't shoot me. I don't own glee or any of it's characters or story lines.
Sat beneath a willow tree staring up at the blue morning skies were Sam and Rachel.
The two had walked in silence until they came across the tree.
Rachel didn't want to make it obvious but the monster in her belly was getting more heavier by the day thus she tired out faster.
Sam didn't object, he sat as well also being sure to give Rachel space by two and a half feet. They've been sitting silence ever since.. that is until Sam opened his mouth.
"Nalor." Sam whispered to himself.
"What?" Rachel whipped her head to Sam with suspicious eyes.
"Oh uh-I said Narlor-"
"What the hell did you just call me?!"
Sam chuckled than choked with wide eyes as Rachel's glare pinned him where he sat in warning if he continued with his laughter. "Oh-no! I swear I didn't call you anything Rachel!"
"Then what the hell did you just say?"
"It's Na'vi? You know the avatar language?"
"The what now?"
"Oh my god-You've never heard of it?!"
"No and so what? You got a problem with that?"
"No, Rachel please I swear I'm not trying to offend you in any way. I just.. I've never met anyone who's never heard of it. It's refreshing to be able to show someone." Sam rushed out as he patted his self down looking for his cell phone urgently. Hoping and praying Rachel would find it just as awesome as he did.
Rachel looked skeptical of his sincerity.
"Damn, you're mom has my phone. I swear when we get back to the house I'll show you. That is if you'll let me. No pressure."
Rachel stood quiet for a minute and Sam was cursing himself for making her feel uncomfortable.
Rachel could clearly see how much he was beating himself up over it and rolled her eyes. What the hell was wrong with her? She felt... Bad for making him feel that way. The thought alone made her skin crawl.
"I guess you can show me." Rachel agreed begrudgingly in a semi-committable grumble.
Sam beamed. "Re-Really?"
"Sure."
"Cool!" Sam smiled and Rachel could see at that moment how much it meant to him that she agreed.
Just then a twig snapped behind them. The two looked up just as Charlie came into view.
The blonde halted in her steps. Her eyes widening in surprise, then falling on Rachel.
She and Rachel held solid eye contact. Sam watched on in confusion at the tension he could feel happening between the two.
"What are you guys doing out here?" Charlie finally asked.
"We could ask you the same." Rachel replied in challenge.
"Walking." Charlie replied with some attitude.
"Really? What's wrong feeling a little suffocated?" Rachel snipped.
Charlie's eyes flashed.
"Screw you, Rachel! Why don't you mind your own damn business!" Charlie said as she stepped forward in warning.
"Make me!" Rachel growled standing up in acceptance for a fight.
"Guys chill!" Sam tried in worry as he too stood up.
"She needs to chill! You know what, screw this! I'm out of here!" Charlie growled.
Rachel scoffed with a shake of her head. Sam stood watching with a little worry.
"See this is why you can't handle anything. All you do is run away crying when things get hard." Rachel said casually. All false bravado gone.
Charlie glared at her. "You don't know anything."
"Yeah, you said that already but I'm still right. So relax, I was just fucking with you."
"You're an asshole."
"So what else is new? Sit or leave I don't care I was trying to help you let out some of that steam you're holding up your ass." Rachel said offhandedly as she sat back down and repositioned herself against the large tree. Her eyes casting to the blue skies once more unbothered.
Sam watched the interaction with fascinated eyes as his sister calmed considerably. She hesitated then walked over.
"Excuse me." Charlie said with a roll of her eyes standing in front of Rachel.
Rachel rolled her eyes back. "I'm pretty sure there's enough tree for you to sit elsewhere."
"Does it look like I care?"
Rachel tried. She really did but she couldn't stop the smirk from forming on her face.
Sam's eyes widened when Rachel actually scooted over. Charlie sat leaning against the tree like Rachel. It was silent for a few minutes.
"So you never answered my question, what are you guys doing out here?" Charlie asked.
"I couldn't sleep." Sam answered.
"Yeah, so your brother had this bright idea to come out here and tell me about nostrils."
"What?" Charlie asked confused as hell and a little grossed out.
Sam immediately understood that Rachel didn't want Charlie to know she actually invited him but he decided to go along with it.
He rolled his eyes in annoyance at Rachel. "She means Na'vi."
"Same difference." Rachel said with a shrug.
Charlie giggled.
Skylar has been awake for a little over an hour. She had woken to find the room empty and the second bed that belongs to Charlie still made.
She felt a pang in her heart but was self-aware enough to understand that her feelings mattered as well and she couldn't force someone else to confide in her.
She had faith that if Charlie wanted to come to her she would. She just needed to give her space. So instead she got up, took a shower and was now preparing herself some lunch.
She had gone looking for Sam but he wasn't in his room. She assumes he's with Charlie and that made her feel better knowing Charlie had someone with her.
Just then she heard footsteps and her eyes lifted when a just waking Quinn walked into the kitchen. Skylar could not lie to herself. Quinn just like Charlie and Sam is also so very unfairly beautiful.
"Hey," Quinn said softly as she hesitated to enter not sure if Skylar needed to be alone at the moment.
The blonde had some time to think last night. Guilt has been added to her weight of problems.
Because now that she thinks about it. Her family has somehow managed to tangle their mess within the Corcoran home and now they had to hide too. It wasn't right and certainly wasn't fair.
"Hey, cap," Skylar replied with a small smile. "Just wake up?"
"Yes actually... You didn't happen to see where Rachel's snuck off to?"
"Nope. I was actually going to ask you if Charlie and Sam might be up in the attic with you because she wasn't here when I woke up and neither is Sammy."
"No. I haven't seen either of them since we all went to our rooms. I didn't realize I fell asleep until I woke up."
"So.. We've been ditched by our siblings. Wow, I don't feel lame at all." Skylar joked.
"Hey! We are not lame." Quinn defended jokingly with a hand gesture between she and Skyler than paused with a quirk of her lips.
"Well... I'm not at leas-Hey!" Quinn playfully growled after being hit in the face with the dishcloth for her comment then throwing it back at Skylar.
"Watch it, we're not on the field anymore Cap." Skylar teased.
"Yeah, yeah... So what are you making?" Quinn asked coming up behind the shorter girl to get a peek.
"The only thing I know how to make, pancakes."
"Sooo is there a chance there's going to be any scraps left over?" Quinn inquired just as her stomach growled.
Skylar smirked. "If you contribute something to the meal then sure."
"I'll be honest, I can't cook buuuttt-I can make a mean cup of milk?"
"Hmmm... Not what I would have preferred but..." Skylar purposely hesitated as Quinn's eyes shined with hope.
Skylar can admit even if it's just to herself that Quinn had to be the second most adorable person she'd ever met only second to Charlie of course. "I guess that will suffice."
"Yes! I'm on it, say no more." Quinn rushed to the cabinet to get the glasses and Skylar smiled sadly while the girl's back was turned.
She couldn't believe the triplets and their mother had gone through all that they had.
How could anyone want to hurt such amazing people? She just wanted to take all four of them in her arms and shield them from all the harsh cruelty of the world.
"You know since the adults aren't around maybe we should make enough for Rachel, Sam, and Charlie." Quinn suggested thoughtfully.
"We?" Skylar smirked with a raised brow at the blonde. Quinn chuckled.
"Well who else do you think is going to pour all this milk? I mean it's not like just anyone can do it?" Quinn cracked and Skylar burst with laughter.
Shelby held on to Judy's hand as the woman slept. They just loaded Judy in the transport van and Shelby refused to let her be transported alone.
She has Kevin driving her car and will drive him back later to get his. She couldn't leave her sister alone, not like this.
In Shelby's head, she has already failed Judy several times and she wasn't about to let it happen again.
She looked down at Judy and wiped her own tears once more. Russell had done a number on her.
Shelby's surprised she's even alive at this point. Judy was going to need a lot of time to heal and Shelby was going to give it to her.
Sam rolled his eyes once again. "No, it's not the same thing!"
"It sure seems like it." Rachel replied with indifference.
Charlie was trying so hard to stifle her laughter but she just couldn't. Her brother looked on the verge of a diva storm out.
"You just don't get it!" Sam defended childishly.
"Either I do or I don't doesn't really change the fact that it's still just as lame as it was five minutes ago."
"Take that back!" Sam fumed.
Charlie whimpered in a laugh once again as Rachel smirked calmly at a stricken Sam.
"Let me think about hmmm... Nope!"
"You still don't know what you're talking about!"
"Sam, let me be clear that I don't claim to know anything. I said it seems like it."
"Yeah-Well, you're implying that there is a chance of truth in there."
"True not true, once again it doesn't matter. Because it's still lame."
"Ugh! You're just not taking the time to really understand it! Pokemon is a completely different series than Yu-Gi-Oh but Yu-Gi-Oh has way more to offer!" Sam fumed.
"Like I said they both fight using cards, Sam! It's the same thing but with a different way of playing it!"
Charlie could clearly see her brother was damn near hysterics but she could also see Rachel was just messing with him on purpose and could tell the brunette was loving how riled up her brother was getting.
To think this all started because Charlie said she was more of a Pokemon fan than Yu-gi-oh. Charlie shook her head.
"Rachel Yu-Gi-Oh has way cooler fighters!"
"Sam, they're still just caaarrrrrddss!"
"Damn it, Rachel!"
"No way!" Skylar exclaimed in laughter.
"I'm serious. Puck wears mascara because he claims it makes his eyes pop." Quinn spilled with a giggle.
They had been just setting the table after Skyler finished enough pancakes for everyone. The two found they really connected on a more than superficial level.
Skyler and Quinn surprised by the fact but happy to find some companionship in someone new. It was refreshing.
Just then the two teens furrowed their brows in matching confusion when they heard laughter low in the distance. The two rushed to the kitchen window above the sink and both teens eyes bulged at the sight before them.
Charlie and Sam were returning home but they weren't alone. Rachel was with them.
Skyler felt so many emotions at once at the sight of her sister walking with that devilish smirk of hers in amusement at the indignation of Sam's rebuttal.
Charlie's obvious laughter at his expense looking not so down in the dumps as she had been earlier in Skyler's presence.
To say Skyler was not amused would be putting it mildly.
Was she happy to see her sister socializing? Yes!
Did it hurt to know that Rachel seemed to be wide open for all the Fabray kids but had no room for her? You fucking bet it does!
Skyler felt her insides set a blaze with jealous hurt. Seeing them together hurt more than any words could describe.
Then there was Charlie and how easy going she seemed to be in Rachel's presence.
How though Skyler has tried several times to get her to open up and be there for her, it seems she only allowed you but so far unless your Rachel or in the most hurtful case Rebecca McIntosh.
"I guess Rachel really knows how to help.." Skyler said low.
Quinn's eyes cast to the brunette beside her and for the first time could not only see but feel the brunette's hurt, sadness, and angry betrayal oozing from her pores. The blonde's eyes softened.
"Hey." Quinn said softly and Skyler turned from the window not wanting to see anymore.
"You know, you're just as important as your sister and so are your actions. Before you came along Skyler my sister and brother were miserable. Over time I've watch them grow and become more comfortable with themselves simply by being your friend. However I will admit my sister's an idiot. Now I don't know what's going on with her right now but I will say this because I'm also your friend just like I'm her sister. She doesn't deserve your loyalty right now and maybe she never did. Maybe instead of just letting her walk all over you, you need to let her experience what it feels like to not have you."
Skyler's eyes were wide and in disbelief that Quinn, Charlie's sister was saying this to her.
Quinn pulled the brunette into a hug and whispered: "You are worth more than being someone's after thought."
Skyler felt her emotions hit at the words than wrapped her arms around Quinn as they hugged.
"Thank you, cap. It really means a lot to me."
"No problem and if you ever want to just talk to me and hang out or need to vent about anything I'm always here for you."
"What's going on here?" Rung out with suspicion.
"Thank yo-"
Quinn and Skyler released each other only to come face to face with Charlie, Sam, and Rachel.
Quinn raised a brow at her sister feeling the urge to slap her upside her head for not only her blatant disregard for a girl who clearly has feelings for her but also for being so stupid as to treat the girl she's been pinning over secretly like her actions weren't hurting her.
"Nothing, we were just going to have breakfast." Quinn replied as she casually wrapped an arm around Skyler's shoulder.
"Really? Because it looked like you were h-"
"We were having a private conversation Charlie as we see you were doing with Rachel and Sam." Quinn replied with intention clear in her tone and eyes.
Charlie swallowed thickly as she saw not only the hidden threat for her to drop it but also the challenge her sister was penetrating her with.
It was clear to every in the room that Quinn's temperament had dropped low and was harsh with her cold calculated stare aimed at her little sister.
Unbeknownst to Quinn Rachel was staring at her with jealously written beneath the indifferent stare she was giving.
Not understanding why Quinn and Skyler were in the kitchen alone having breakfast and hugging that closely while simultaneously not understanding her own feeling as to why that would even bother her and Sam?
Well Sam not only wanted the nice on hot pancakes on the kitchen table but also wanted to bolt for the door at the sight of scary Quinn pancakes be damned.
"Anyway." Skyler cut in. "Quinn and I are having breakfast now. You guys can continue on with whatever is that you were doing." Skyler said feeling empowered by Quinn's words and perfectly okay with not inviting Charlie for breakfast.
The brunette took a seat and looked up at Quinn giving her a blinding smile. "You still joining me, cap?"
Quinn smiled this appreciative thing. The blonde could clearly see Skyler was taking her words to heart and in her own way was letting Charlie know she wasn't moping around waiting for her.
Quinn was completely on board with that because her sister needed a serious reality check because though she is worried about the change in her sister's behavior.
She also knows that Rachel some how is the only person who knows what happened to make Charlie act the way that she has and that isn't fair.
It isn't fair to have not only Skyler but Quinn herself worrying over Charlie and leaving them to try to get her to open up about what's bothering her, without a thought as to how they feel about it.
So Quinn pulled out a chair for her self than sat down feeling completely content in helping Skyler make her statement.
"So anyway Sky, like I was saying. I really love your hair like this." Quinn said reaching over with gentle hands purposely knowing that it would make her sister not only jealous but drive her crazy with whether or not there was something going on between Quinn and Skyler.
"Really? Thank you and I have to admit though I'm envious of your healthy glow. I've always wanted to ask what you're skin routine is?" Skyler asked with a smile and shining eyes catching on to Quinn helping her and playing the part of a lifetime.
What Quinn didn't pay mind to was the flare in Rachel's nostrils and the penetrating gaze she was shooting at Quinn as jealousy raged harshly within her.
"Whatever." Rachel scuffed out before leaving the room to head for the attic.
Charlie narrowed her eyes at the two who acted as if they were the only two in the kitchen. Her heart felt the burn of betrayal as her mind worked in over drive at just what she was seeing.
Charlie scoffed than stormed from the kitchen as well being sure to roll her eyes as she did.
Sam looked at the two as they watched Charlie go before the two girls at the table covered their mouths as they burst in to giggles. Sam furrowed his brow in confusion.
Quinn and Skyler looked at him with matching smiles.
"You're dying to know aren't you Sammy?" Skyler asked with humor.
"Hell yeah I do but only if I get to have pancakes." Sam negotiated.
"As long as you don't tell Charlie and don't interfere. You can have all the pancakes you want." Quinn countered with a raised brow at Sam in challenge.
Sam's eyes lit up in mischief. "Deal!"
Skyler patted the seat next to her and Sam rushed over. Quinn stood up and rushed to the archway and checked back and forth to make sure Charlie was really gone than rushed back to the table.
Sam already had a stack of pancakes on his plate covered with syrup. Quinn leaned forward as did Skyler and Sam.
Sam listened with rapt attention as Quinn spoke. "So you know how when Sky first came to school and Charlie was practically drooling over her?"
"She was?" Skyler asked in surprise and happiness at the news that she wasn't the only one looking like a love sick idiot.
"Yes now shh! Let me finish." Quinn said with a small smile.
"Okay, sorry go ahead." Skyler said eager to hear what exactly Quinn was going to spill while talking about what she and Sky were talking about in the kitchen before Charlie, Rachel and Sam interrupted and that's how Shelby found them when she finally arrived with Judy in tow.
