Daro'Xen "So why do you use singularities generated through electrogravitics to create the warp bubble instead of using gravity waves directly to do so?" She asked, genuinely curious. It really just seemed like an unnecessary additional process
Dr. Lytho "because gravity waves are notoriously power hungry to generate and control. We use singularities to have full control over spacetime at a massively more efficient and manageable level. The warp drive precursor known as the gravitic lightspeed drive, also known as At Light drive, or AL Drive, only used gravity waves to create an extremely crude warp drive capable of only going the exact speed of light. Fast for sure but still years of travel to go from one system to any nearby" she explained
Daro'Xen thought about that, most people forgot just how vast space was that even light travels quite slow in the grand scheme of things, and for efficient interstellar travel FTL capable starships were needed "hmm, yes that would make sense. This AL drive would only be useful for extremely fast sleeper ships and interplanetary travel"
Dr. Lytho smiled at the Quarian, other than her unhealthy anti-AI obsession, she really reminded her of herself in her early years "Exactly, that is exactly what the AL drives were used for." She explained, "It wasn't until we created the singularity generator that we had our correct level of manipulation over spacetime and thus the warp drive was born and we could break the light barrier."

Today I've gotten authorization to conduct tests involving eezo produced singularity technology in the Amun Ra system 3.75 light years off Rannoch. I've been given the system as my test ground for me and my team to create all kinds of singularity based technologies big and small for the New Quarian Federation
However, due to the ongoing conversion of an old Geth outpost into my lab, I have been given the old Alerai lab ship while I wait the estimated 2 months the damned Geth need to convert the station to organic usage

I've just performed my first successful test involving singularity technology-based propulsion after weeks of tweaking precision mass effect fields to prevent the central drive from consuming the drone surrounding the singularity. I have unfortunately lost five prototypes in this process.
However, I must point out just how power-consuming it is! I've just created a basic Omni drone-sized contraption connected to an industrial-rated wire bundle that uses multiple Eezo projectors I salvaged from a Blackstorm to create, I call it Kartactii. Kartactii is run by a singularly roughly ten centimeters in diameter resting in the center of the device
Even though I can call this a complete success, the amount of power I used to create this basic drone with the ability to control the singularity to move was astronomical! About as much needed for a cruiser! I truly can see why the Transhumans needed to invest in antimatter and eventually direct mass to energy conversion generators to even imagine using singularities as a technology base. And that is to say nothing of the power needed to create gravity waves from the electricity that just adds up even more necessary power to then use singularities created through this method!
Apparently, the first singularity drives were the size of a frigate and had to use precise electrogravitic fields to create a protective bubble around the drive core just as I have done with mass effect fields but unlike me, the gravitic field generators weren't as simple as using some Eezo and were four corvette sized gravitic field generators. These first FTL capable ships were apparently the size of a dreadnought on average and if not for uploading technology would have the living space of a heavy frigate
I truly can see why the Transhumans are so much more advanced than us. Power is the bottleneck of all civilizations and the transhumans need as much power generated by a live ship to allow a corvette-sized ship to go to FTL, let alone one of their multi-kilometer-long ships!
Speaking of power requirements, I have noticed Kartactii needs only a 10th of the Eezo that would be necessary to lift the same amount of weight otherwise.
Eezo based singularity technology clearly trades the amount of Eezo needed for absurdly higher power requirements.
What I need to do is create a mass-to-energy conversion generator using this newfound technology like the Transhumans use as antimatter power generation doesn't exist at the moment and it wouldn't even cut it anyways as the Transhumans history has shown.

Success! I have created a mass-to-energy conversion generator! I have dropped a nanogram of pure carbon into the singularity created by Kartactii which has created more energy than an entire frigate! A nanogram of carbon has just created more energy outputs by a fusion reactor on a frigate in the form of Hawking radiation and a gamma-ray beam!
Well… it hasn't entirely been entirely a success…said gamma-ray beam may have melted through six floors of the Alerai with the strength of a cruiser's GUARDIAN array and injured five people… But it works, that is what matters! I have created a new source of power far beyond anything we have! These Quarians' sacrifices will be remembered in the name of science!
My next task is clear: I need to find a way to contain and harness this radiation and energy beam in something reminiscent of a starship's Eezo core. I don't expect to be able to create tiny Eezo nodule-sized singularities anytime soon but we don't need to. The Transhumans have taught me a valuable expression in my enjoyable interaction with Dr. Lytho "Necessity is the mother of invention." This is an eon old Human and then Transhuman saying dating back to their industrial era that we Quarians know well, even if we don't have a verbal equivalent.
The Transhumans had no access to Eezo so they were forced to miniaturize singularities to an absurd level to simulate things such as biotics and other things we can easily do with mass effect fields on a small scale

I've done it! I've created my masterpiece! The NQF Cordoitti! This ship is a frigate-sized ship that utilizes an Eezo-Singularity core! This ship can go about 112 light-years per day and can fire a long-range gamma-ray burst with the energy of 5 dreadnoughts main guns!
I can only imagine what this technology can do when it becomes more advanced… No, I know what it will become, the Alten and Transhumans are living embodiments of what we can become!
I have revealed the NQF Cordoitti to the admiralty board and have received ten times the funding! I can't wait to get back to work!
