Chapter 29
"YOU'RE WHAT?!" Noelle and Asta winced by the loud shout Solid let out, while Nozel and Nebra gaped at them.
"Would you keep it down, Solid?" Noelle scowled. Solid on the other hand, wasn't listening to his sister at all and pulled out his communication device.
"I'm calling Mother!" Solid let out frantically.
"Highly doubt that'll do much." Nebra scowled.
"Plus ya know, she's incredibly busy being Queen of Clover." Asta added.
"Too late!" Solid frantically spoke. "Hello? Mother? Can you come to the house now?"
"Hmm? Solid? Is it a life or death emergency?" Acier answered, distracted.
"Does Noelle being freaking pregnant count as an emergency?!" Solid demanded. Upon hearing this, Acier let out a delighted squeal.
"Pregnant?! Oh that's wonderful news!" She replied happily. Solid groaned with a sweatdrop at his Mother's words.
"...Not exactly the reaction I thought I'd get." Solid groaned.
"What else did you expect?" Nozel sighed.
"Ugh…!" Solid groaned again.
"If that's all Solid, then I'll be going. I have work to do." Acier told Solid.
"Did you have a hand in this Mother?" Nozel questioned Acier. Acier's lips on the screen/hologram in front of the 5 curved into a mischievous smile.
"Maaaaaaaybeeeee.~" Acier answered.
"What?!" Nebra and Solid gaped.
"Of course you did." Nozel sighed. Acier laughed lightly.
"I regret nothing!~" Acier giggled. Noelle and Asta only looked at Acier both flabbergasted, yet at the same time unsurprised by this. "Well if that's all, I'll be going now. Bye kids!" And with that, Acier hung up. Solid could only sputter helplessly before he screamed again. The rest sighing at him.
"This is ridiculous!" Solid growled, mostly to himself. "How-no, why would Mother do this?! Noelle isn't even an appropriate age to get pregnant! What's next? Mother giving Asta and Noelle wedding rings and saying that the 2 are married?!"
"Sounds like something she'd do." Nebra shrugged. "Might as well expect it once she gets back… Where was she anyway? Didn't look like the castle."
"From the looks of it, I think she was heading out of the Kingdom for the day." Noelle guessed. "Yuno has been a bit under the weather ever since his mission to the Earth Grand Magic Region with Mimosa, Klaus, and Letoile. When me and Asta tried talking to him and Mimosa about what happened in the Earth Grand Magic Region, neither of them would say anything."
"Out of the kingdom and the Golden Dawn boy…" Nozel muttered, before he grew wide eyed. "Now I see. She's going there."
"Going where?" Asta asked, slightly confused.
"You'll see." Nozel sighed. "Nebra, inform one of the servants in the house to prepare a guest room. We'll no doubt be expecting someone upon our Mother's return."
"Will do Nozel." Nebra nodded before leaving the large living room area of the house. Asta and Noelle blinked in confusion, looking at each other in wonder.
"I wonder what Nozel is talking about." Asta spoke. "Do you have any idea, Noelle?"
"We'll have to wait and see." Noelle frowned. Asta could only nod as they sweatdropped at Solid who was still ranting to himself.
"Eheh. Let's go to my, or your room for awhile." Asta chuckled as he rubbed the back of his head sheepishly. "Or at least until Solid stops ranting about this."
"Fine by me. I could use a nap anyway." Noelle replied.
"Same." Asta laughed. With that, the 2 left while Nozel walked for his office to do paperwork; thus leaving Solid alone to rant.
"Phew finally made it." Acier elegantly landed in enriched land in her valkyrie armor before allowing it to disappear. "It has been a while since I've been to Heart and it still looks lovely." Acier walked into the secluded forest area west of the Heart Kingdom, recalling her visit from years ago before she stopped. Sensing the eyes of a predator on her.
This mana…! She thought, quickly turning. Suddenly a dark shape jumped forward over her before landing. She quickly looked to reveal a large jet black wolf with piercing red eyes and markings on its fur as it growled at her before looking at her and stopped as she smiled.
"Hello Koji." She said to the wolf. At this the wolf relaxed and almost looked as if having a deadpan expression.
"I figured that mana seemed familiar." The wolf spoke. "What brings your appearance here, Acier Silva?"
"I'm here for 2 reasons." Acier began. "The first reason is wanting to invite Ren to the Star Awards Festival that's coming up in the Clover Kingdom within the next month. The 2nd reason is...well, one of the Golden Dawn members, Yuno, isn't doing too well. Neither is Mimosa. They both are refusing to talk about what happened in the Earth Grand Magic Region. Not just to their own squadmates, but their family members as well. So naturally, I decided to come here. Hopefully to see if Ren could help them. I would have brought the 2 with me but… They're refusing to leave the Golden Dawn base." The wolf looked at Acier for a moment and sighed.
"It must be serious if you came all the way here yourself." Koji remarked. "Alright. I'll lead you to the village then."
"Thank you Koji." Acier smiled. Koji only rolled his eyes and turned around, leading Acier through the thicket of the forest. Mindful of the roots as he sniffed the air for a moment before continuing walking to reach a large tree.
"Dryad, contact Ren. She has a guest." He said to the tree. A tall woman with long, wavy hair that grows up from her head and is filled with flowers. She has long, pointed ears and wears a gown made of plants, with stems and flowers growing out of it appearing out of the front of the tree.
"Oh! Hello Acier dear!~" Dryad smiled before looking down at Koji. "And sure Koji dear! I'll do it right now!"
"Good, I'm going back to patrol. You show her where to go once you relay the message." Koji replied.
"Of course!" Dryad replied. Koji gave a nod to Acier before turning and swiftly running off.
Oh Ren! Acier is here to see you!~ Dryad telepathically told a female elf.
"Acier Silva? Hmm… Let her come in then Dryad." The elf replied. Dryad nodded, then turned to Acier.
"You're good to go, Acier dear!" Dryad cheerfully told the Clover Queen. "Ren's hut is in the center of the village. You can't miss it!~"
"Thank you Dryad." Acier smiled. Acier then walked forward, coming within Elysia, the elf tribe of the Heart Kingdom. Acier could feel the curious stares of both elves and half elves within the tribe as she walked before reaching the hut Dryad had mentioned. She walked inside, looking around.
"Acier Silva, it has been a while." Acier looked and smiled at the female elf in front of her. The elf looked to be in her early 20s despite Acier knowing otherwise. Her hair dark blue hair had light blue strands that brushed her shoulder, pure green eyes, pale skin, and wearing a pure white dress that brushed her knees with gray boots.
"Yes it has, Ren." Acier greeted the female elf. The female elf, Ren, smiled softly as she took a seat on her wooden chair, motioning for Acier to do the same. Acier does so.
"I would think it had been since your exchange visit back when you were such a fledgling, not counting the many letters you've sent to me." Ren remarked fondly. Acier laughed lightly.
"Yes. I was quite the excited kid to be a part of the exchange program between Clover and Heart." Acier admitted.
"Yes, I remember. And you were especially excited once you and a few others were given permission to come see my tribe as well." Ren added. "You never dreamed of seeing elves from the fairy tales your grandparents would tell you."
"Haha! That's right!" Acier laughed, a smile on her face. "I remember seeing you for the first time and I asked you "Are you a real elf?"."
"Yes and I said, "I would hope so. Otherwise it would be strange for my ears to be this pointy."." Ren chuckled. Acier laughed again, reminiscing on her younger years as a young girl.
"If I remember right, it was me, along with my sister that first came here during the exchange program." Acier remarked.
"Ah yes. How is she doing?" Ren asked.
"Married just like me." Acier answered. "Her children are Kirsch and Mimosa Vermillion."
"Only 2 huh? Here I thought she would have 4 like you." Ren smirked, amused.
"My husband's older brother has 3 children. Mereoleona, Fuegoleon, and Leopold Vermillion." Acier told Ren before laughing lightly again. "So it's a close second to my 4. Though out of the 3, Mereoleona is the most rough."
"A middle." Ren hummed in amusement, before she looked at Acier. "Though I think there's something else you wanted to talk about besides memory lane."
"There is." Acier nodded. "But before I get into the serious topic, I have to ask 1 thing."
"Which is?" Ren asked.
"Do you still have your Grandparents wedding rings?" Acier asked before going into a small giggling fit. "You see, Asta and my youngest daughter need...ah, wedding rings." Ren raised an eyebrow at this.
"If my math is right, aren't they only 16?" She questioned. "Marriage is a bit far for them."
"I beg to differ." Acier snickered. "I got married at age 17, and had Nozel when I turned 18."
"That's different. Given the circumstances and the times-!" Ren began before she blinked, then deadpanned at Acier. "What have you done this time?" At this point, Acier just went into full on laughter.
"Hahahaha! After the Seabed Temple mission, Asta and Noelle were super exhausted. So naturally, I carried the 2 back into the Silva House after Courtney gave my squad, as well as Captain's Fana squad, a lift back to Clover. When I entered the house, I put the 2 in Noelle's room and left." She continued to laugh, having to take a breather from the laughing before continuing. "But apparently, Asta instinctively kept going back to Noelle's room for the night. I dunno if it was because he was extremely tired every night or what, but the best part is that Noelle didn't stop him! Pfffft! Hahaha! I know because I watched him go into Noelle's room every night for the past 2 months!" Eventually, she stopped laughing before adding. "But in all seriousness though, I planned the whole thing out."
"Of course you did. It's you after all." Ren sighed, shaking her head. "So your youngest daughter is pregnant and you're gonna have them wed."
"But of course!" Acier grinned. "No ceremony. Just the wedding rings and me saying "You're married because I say so!"!" Ren sweatdropped. She shook her head, unsurprised by Acier's antics before standing up from her chair and walking to the small mantle on her wall where few treasures and antiques were. She took the small white wood box and walked back, setting it on the table and opened the lid for Acier to see 2 rings: one a simple golden ring with a small image of a sword engraved on it. The second one was also gold, but had wind engravings on it. Acier smiled at the 2 wedding rings, picking each one up carefully to observe them. After a minute or 2, she put them back in the box and closed it.
"They're just as beautiful as I imagined they'd be." Acier smiled.
"Mind you, you don't have to do the engravings. That's just an elf custom bit." Ren replied, taking back the box.
"I know." Acier nodded. "But I believe the engravings would be lovely." Ren lightly chuckled, rubbing the box with her thumb before she looked at Acier.
"So what brings you all the way here in a Magic Zone within the Heart Kingdom?" She asked.
"The wedding rings was the first reason." Acier spoke before frowning slightly. "The second reason is because 2 of Captain William's Golden Dawn members are not feeling very good. One of them sees me as a mother figure, and the other is my family member. So naturally, I am worried about them."
"What happened?" Ren frowned. "Do they need a healer? I mean the Heart Kingdom might have a profound one instead of coming here."
"Oh if only it was a physical injury." Acier sighed, still frowning. "No. They're mentally damaged. Yuno and Mimosa are the 2 mentally damaged. For clarification."
"Mentally damaged?" Ren questioned. "What do you mean?" Acier's frown deepened.
"After the 2 returned from the Earth Grand Magic Region a few days ago with Klaus and Letoile, Klaus and Letoile tried to get the 2 to talk about where they had gone for several hours. The 2 just ignored Klaus and Letoile since then." She paused, then added. "I went to visit the Golden Dawn base myself after William told me that he wanted to tell Julius and myself what was going on with the 2. When I got there, the 2 tried to tell me off. Which they did eventually, but not before I figured out what was wrong. Least for Yuno. His mana has been...tainted. He also no longer has a grimoire, yet the Wind Spirit is still staying with him despite this."
"Tainted with no grimoire…" Ren frowned. "I still don't see why you would need someone from the elf tribe here. If anything, the Queen-"
"Actually Ren, I need your help." Acier stated. At this, Ren looked surprised.
"Me?" Ren questioned.
"Yes." Acier nodded. "You are the most experienced when it comes to helping those that are traumatized. There's just an aura about you that gives off positive waves of energy. That, or it's just your mana."
"I feel like that's a thing people like to say about me, given my Light Magic." Ren muttered, before she sighed. "Back on topic, I don't know about this. Given the news I've been hearing, won't those 2 think I'm an enemy? Not only that, I barely know them."
"I can assure you that they won't see you as an enemy." Acier remarked. "I have told them about you before. And while it is true that you barely know them, as long as Clover and Heart are in good relations with each other, the Eye of the Midnight Sun's attacks will not hinder our relationship."
"While I don't disagree with you, there's still the matter that I don't know their circumstances and of my tribe. I am the tribe leader of Elyssia. I can't just up and leave." Ren pointed out.
"True." Acier agreed. "However, I believe Koji could take your leader position for a time. Right?"
"Hmm… He is my right hand, so it wouldn't be much trouble." Ren muttered.
"And I believe they'll open up to you." Acier smiled.
"What makes you say that?" Ren asked.
"Call it a woman's intuition." Acier replied.
"I would rather have facts over intuition." Ren deadpanned.
"Ahh come on Ren!" Ren looked at her grimoire, taking it out, revealing it as a ruby red grimoire with white wings on the corners and a four point star at the cover with a gold four leaf clover in the center. The grimoire opened and a light shot out to reveal a male fairy with spikish snow white hair, pure gold eyes, pale skin, and wearing pure white robes with a gold star center as he flapped his white wings.
"Fay." Ren frowned.
"These kids sound like they could use your kindness and light. Besides, it'll be great to come over to Clover." Fay grinned.
"If I didn't know better I would say you only want to come to see your fellow spirit." Ren hummed.
"Well there's that too." Fay grinned. Acier giggled at the interaction between Fay and Ren. It reminded her of Sylph (or Bell, as Yuno calls her) and Yuno's own interactions.
"Speaking of Sylph, she is doing her best to purge the negative mana from herself, as well as Yuno." Acier spoke up.
"And it'll be a lot easier if I help her." Fay sang to Ren. The elf leader looked at her spirit, then at Acier before she sighed.
"You 2 are just gonna gang up on me till I agree, aren't you?" She questioned, knowing the answer.
"Yup!" Both Acier and Fay replied in unison.
"Figures." Ren sighed. "Alright, alright; I'll do it. But don't expect a miracle, Acier."
"Yes!" Fay cheered.
"Whoooo!" Acier grinned in satisfaction.
"Let me just contact Koji and pack a few things. Because, knowing you, you'll have me stay there for more than a few days." Ren deadpanned at Acier, as she stood up again.
"I will not confirm nor deny that statement." Acier laughed.
"In other words, I'm right." Ren sighed, going for her room.
"Clover here we come! Clover here we come!" Fay sang, watching Ren disappear to her room before quickly facing Acier. "Ok before she comes back, tell me, is this also a matchmaking scheme?" Acier glanced at Fay, trying to hold in her giggling.
"I have no idea on what you're talking about Fay.~" Acier couldn't hold her giggling in and started to giggle.
"Oh thank god! You would not believe how aggravating it is to have a pretty master who is oblivious to everything." Fay sighed in relief.
"I have an idea." Acier remarked. Ren came back down, wearing a black and crimson hooded cloak over her white dress while carrying a duffle bag and placed her grimoire in her white holder.
"Alright Koji has agreed to watch the tribe while I'm gone, so we can get going." Ren said. Acier turned to face Ren and gave the Elysia Elf Tribe Leader a nod and a light smile appeared on her lips.
"That's good." Acier smiled.
"So what kind of plan do you have to bring me up? And don't play coy, I know you have a plan. You always do." Ren said as they left her hut.
"Why of course. Would you mind waiting a while?" Acier asked, smiling.
"Define a while." Ren frowned.
"I need to check to see if my children got a guest room set up for you." Acier remarked.
"Wait, how long am I staying with you for? Would your King even allow it?" Ren questioned, mentioning the king in distaste. Acier's lips formed a light smile, despite Ren mentioning the now former King Augustus Kira Clover XIII.
"You mean King Augustus Kira Clover XIII? I wouldn't worry about him being the King of Clover anymore. Because I, with the help of Mereoleona, Julius, Captain Fana, Elf Fana, Torbjorn, and Thordin, he and the Royal House Kira have been overthrown as the ruling House of Clover." Acier took the crown off her head for a moment, as if tipping a hat, then put it back on her head. "I'm the Queen of Clover because of it." Ren gaped in shock by this while Fay whooped in cheer.
"Overthrew, new Queen, coup." Ren began, shocked.
"All hail Queen Acier! Hahaha!" Fay cheered.
"Yes Fay." Acier smiled. "The entire Clover Kingdom now knows the truth about what happened 500 years ago. So even if Royal House Kira, minus Damnatio Kira because I still need him around, get out of house arrest, they will not be treated very well by the rest of the Clover citizens."
"They… They all know everything?" Ren whispered, covering her mouth, shocked.
"Yes." Acier nodded. "I know that even with them knowing the truth thanks to Elf Fana's memories of the past, change will not come overnight. Julius knows this too. It's been his goal ever since he became the Wizard King. And I believe even before that. His goal, as well as mine, Asta, and Yuno's: To make a world with no prejudices and discrimination." Ren grew wide eyed, recalling her beloved grandmother's words, making her weakly smile.
"I see… So grandfather's wish never died…" She whispered softly.
"It did not." Acier smiled. "It has traversed through time to reach the current era. Julius, myself, as well as Asta and Yuno know that this won't be easy. In fact, one could say it's a near impossible task. But if me and Julius don't try now, who will? Excluding Asta and Yuno trying now, too." Ren let out a breathy sigh, feeling her chest constrict with emotion before taking another breath.
"Well then. It's best I should really help this Yuno get better." She remarked with a small smile.
"Yes." Acier nodded in agreement. "I know it won't be easy, but patience with him is key."
"Good thing her obliviousness makes her the most patient person ever." Fay muttered.
"I heard that." Ren flicked Fay, making him yelp.
"Pfft!" Acier giggled before recomposing herself. "Shall we go to Clover Ren dear?~"
"Yes, let's." Ren said, putting up her hood. Acier glanced over at Ren before reforming her Valkyrie Armor and flying up into the air.
"You don't need your hood up, Ren dear." Acier told Ren in a reassuring tone. Ren only gave a small chuckle, pulling out her grimoire.
"Yes I know." She only said. "Light Creation Magic: Seraph's Wings!" And in a gold light angelic wings of light sprouted from Ren's back as she flew up next to Acier.
"Now let's be off." Ren replied.
"You wished to see me, Mother?" Zenon walked in the throne room and saw Eva looking at a monitor before she looked up and smiled at her son.
"I did Zenon." Eva replied. "It's about this man in this photo here." She waved her hand and turned the monitor screen around to show Zenon. A man with short, light-colored hair and tinted glasses with dark-colored frames. As well as wearing what appeared to be laboratory clothes, such as a lab coat over a white shirt and white pants. "Tell me, do you know what type of person this is?" Zenon looked the image of the man over for several seconds before replying.
"That is a Magic Scholar." Zenon replied nonchalantly. "All 4 Kingdoms have one. Ours just lacks one now due to us killing her for siding with Royal House Grinberryall and not us."
"Hmm yes, you're right." Eva mused. "Well let me tell you a bit about this particular Magic Scholar. For starters, his name is Morris Libardirt. He used to experiment on the children of the Diamond Kingdom before someone found out and got him arrested for his heinous crimes against the Diamond Kingdom citizens."
"...Such as?" Zenon inquired.
"Oh...killing children for the sake of science." Eva answered. "Basically the sole survivor of these death battles would get a gemstone implanted into their bodies, as well as getting their grimoires stitched together." Zenon was about to ask something, but Eva continued. "How I know all this is thanks to our Eye of the Midnight Sun allies."
"Oh. Right. Of course." Zenon remarked simply. "So….you want me to go to the Diamond Kingdom, free this insane Magic Scholar, and bring him back here. Is that right?"
"Yup. Basically." Eva smiled.
"...Well then." Zenon deadpanned at his Mother's words. "I shall take my leave to retrieve Morris. And...whoever else that's trapped in the Diamond Kingdom's Castle's dungeon. If that is what you desire of course, Mother."
"I do." Eva nodded before waving Zenon off in a dismissive manner. "You may go." Zenon gave a nod, then turned on his heel and left the throne room.
0713MM: And Chapter 29 is finished! Now, before anyone in the reviews say anything about Noelle being "hindered" and will be "useless" for the next several chapters, this is not true. As for the idea of her getting "accidentally" pregnant, Queen Acier Silva Clover explained earlier in the chapter to Ren, who is an OC of Aurasoul's that she is letting me use for this Black Clover fanfic, as well as the Elf Tribe Leader of Elysia.
Anyway! Chapter 30 will be the fanfic returning to the Diamond Kingdom!
