Location: Coruscant
Time: Midnight
It was quiet... Too quiet... Inside of the former Sith Temple, now the newly modeled Revanite Temple, on the planet Coruscant. All the Revanites were asleep, save for the guards, who were busy patrolling the halls. However, amidst the silence, there was one individual who was rather... Active on this night.
Moving swiftly towards the library, ducking out of the sight of the patrols, she managed to locate the library and sneak inside, where she hoped to find her target. The individual, a young woman with long blonde hair, bone-white hooded robes, a bronze chest plate, hip plates, arm guards, pads, boots, and a bo searched through the library for her target, all while trying to keep as quiet as possible.
It took a bit of time, but she managed to find what she was looking for: The entrance that led to the lower levels of the temple.
"Bingo," she whispered.
"You know," said a voice.
The young woman whirled around, seeing Kayla looking down at her from the second floor, dressed in her Revanite Hunter Armor.
"Entering the temple after hours is forbidden," she said, "first timers usually get a warning and are escorted out. Second timers are usually brought back home. Repeat offenders get arrested."
Kayla jumped over the railing and landed on a table.
"But I guess you wouldn't know that would you... Alaisa?" she asked.
Alaisa Galegos, a member of The Order of Mythic Eternal, stared at the Revanite Hunter in silence.
"...I don't have time to play with you, Revanite," she said, "I have work to do."
Alaisa went back to try and opening the door when... She stopped at the sound of a lightsaber being ignited. Alaisa looked over her shoulder, seeing the glowing amethyst blade.
"...Fine," she said.
Alaisa drew her lightsaber and ignited, the glowing silver blade hummed to life. Kayla beckoned Alaisa and she was quick to oblige, jumping at Kayla and crossing swords with her.
Game on.
The girls immediately slipped into a dance of blades, slamming their blades together as they crossed each other's paths, then another slam and another before their power blows turned into precise, fluid strikes. Kayla buckled down, using Form III to match Alaisa's Form II.
"Watch her feints and ripostes," thought Kayla.
Silver and amethyst swirled and collided with each other in an almost twister-like formation, Kayla and Alaisa slashed, blocked, thrusted, blocked and parried each other's attacks as their dance continued in the dark, quiet temple. When the girls locked blades down low, Kayla backhanded Alaisa, but was met with a backhand as well, followed by a kick to her face and another kick to her chest to send her stumbling back.
Kayla took off out of the library, Alaisa followed; however, when she left the library, the Mythic Assassin saw that Kayla was gone.
"...Where are you?" she whispered.
"Here," said a voice.
Alaisa whirled around and blocked a sneak attack from Kayla; Alaisa jumped from the stairs and landed on the main floor, Kayla jumped after her and attempted to impale the assassin, but Alaisa rolled back, came to a stop and jumped forward delivering a thrust aimed at Kayla's chest. Kayla flipped her lightsaber around and deflected the thrust and countered with a roundhouse kick, which Alaisa evaded with a backflip and followed it up with a rising upward slash.
Kayla spun to the right and followed her evasion up with a swing at Alaisa's neck, but her attack was deflected and found the silver glowing blade going for her neck. Kayla ducked down low, jumped to her feet and lashed out with a flourishing slash attack; Alaisa buckled down and followed up with a 'barrier of blades' maneuver, spinning her lightsaber around herself to deflect Kayla's attacks, then the girls performed three sweeping strikes, followed by series of fluid slash attacks.
Alaisa and Kayla locked blades and pushed against each other, but the two of them broke away and went at each other again, there blades going from fluid strikes to mere blurs of amethyst and silver.
This wasn't a contest of Form II against Form III now, but a contest of Form VII against the combined style of Form III and IV. Kayla gritted her teeth as she struggled to keep up with Alaisa's randomized attack bursts; but it was tough, the most she received from her training as a hunter was how to better counter Form V, whether from her teacher or from her stepbrother, she had little to no training with countering Form VII.
"Focus Kayla, focus!" she thought as she amped up the speed of her attacks.
Alaisa and Kayla flourished their blades around themselves before spinning around and slamming their blades together. The girls growled and broke away once again, glaring and panting heavily. Kayla knew this was going to end up becoming a Duel of Attrition, and thus she saw one option.
"Got to bust it out," she thought, slowly reaching behind her back and going for her offhand lightsaber.
Alaisa came at Kayla again and swung at her neck; the hunter switched her main hand lightsaber around to a reverse grip and deflected the strike, then she activated her offhand lightsaber and attempted a counter. Alaisa gasped and evaded, via one-handed backflip. Kayla flourished her lightsabers and assumed a ready stance.
"...Are you aware that dual-wielders lack power as opposed to duelists like me?" asked Alaisa.
"Weren't you supposed to be a dual-wielder?" asked Kayla.
Alaisa growled and came at Kayla, attempting to split her head open with an overhead chop; Kayla deflected the chop with 'Blade Barricade' and followed it up with a kick to Alaisa's face, knocking her back a few steps. Using the window, she gave herself, Kayla locked her lightsabers together, turning them into a staff and engaged Alaisa. The Mythic Assassin buckled down and tanked up as Kayla countered with a flurry of spinning strikes and sweeps to put the girl on her backfoot.
"Dammit," Alaisa grunted as she blocked five more swings.
Kayla delivered a thrust, and Alaisa performed a backflip, then she followed it up with Force Push to send Kayla sliding back. The Mythic Assassin came at Kayla and went for a thrust aimed at her chest, but Kayla grabbed her by the throat with Force Grip and hurled her off to the right, then she charged, jumped, and performed a powerful shockwave that caused Alaisa to bounce up and hit the ground again.
"Owwww," she groaned.
Kayla marched over to Alaisa and attempted to impale her, but Alaisa tripped up the hunter with a spinning bird kick, then she jumped to her feet and attempted to get Kayla while she was down. Kayla blocked Alaisa's killing strike and kicked her right leg out from underneath her to trip her up and finally she kicked her in the face to send her stumbling back. Kayla jumped to her feet and jumped at Alaisa, spinning her saberstaff and swinging at the assassin's neck.
Alaisa blocked and shoved Kayla back, then she sent her stumbling back with a kick to the ribs, then she Alaisa sent Kayla sliding back with another Force Push. Kayla and Alaisa glared at each other again, panting heavily, sweat pouring from their foreheads. Kayla bit her lower lip as she felt her muscles start to ache, she had faced countless Force Sensitives in her life, Jedi Padawans, Inquisitors, Saber Guards, and Shadow Guards.
Very few had pushed her this far, apart from her late-rival, Claieva. Whoever this girl was... She matched her step-for-step... Power-for-power...
"Ready for the next round?" Kayla asked as she got ready.
"Kayla!" someone yelled out.
Alaisa turned to the right, then she pulled something out from behind her back, then she tossed it at Kayla's feet.
"Wha-"
The item went off, emitting a blinding flash of light and a loud bang. When Kayla managed to come to her senses, she saw Daralec was lightly slapping her cheek and shaking her. And what's more, he had a Revanite Guardsman with him.
"Kayla!" he screamed.
"Ow! What!?" she snapped.
"Are you okay?" asked Daralec.
"Do I look okay?" groaned Kayla, "ugh... What the fuck happened? Where'd that bitch go?"
Daralec looked around.
"What do you mean?" he asked, looking back at Kayla in confusion.
Kayla gritted her teeth.
"...Up and vanish like that, huh? Go ahead and run, but rest assured, we will meet again," she thought.
"From the bottom of my heart, thank you so much for giving Star Wars: Knights of Revan a chance. We all know Disney failed with the sequels and is now doing full-on damage control with the release of The Bad Batch as well as many other spin-offs and Star Wars stories. But they still try to slip in political propaganda and thus have killed a good chunk of our childhood. I shall do no such thing. And for that, I thank you for your chance(s) and love you have given this story"-PageMaster434
