SCP: Birth Of The Legends

Chapter 32: Duty and Bloodlust.

Jonathan threw the empty vial across the room, shattering into dozens of pieces.

"You're not well."

The blond turned around to see a statue of a beautiful woman with horns and two pairs of wings; one of a dragon and the other pair of an angel. The statue represented with accuracy the voluptuous figure of the deity.

"It's been a long time since our last talk."

"Three human years to be precise. The blood of Hevel and the bioengineering experiments have caused great consequences to your health."

Jonathan entered his bathroom and closed the door. "I know."

The samurai unwrapped the towel that was around his waist and began to dress up.

The fatigue, weakness, low number of white cells in his blood. That illness was similar to radiation poisoning, he had a clear and solid theory of its cause.

"Have you found a way to cure it?"

Jonathan exited the bathroom completely dressed, he didn't say anything for a few seconds.

"Nothing."

"You will die-"

"In three or four months if I keep having my current treatment. In a week if I don't do anything."

The statue remained silent and frowned. "This was never our intention."

Jonathan finished putting his dressing vest on before turning on his computer, the screen showed an image of his blood cells and a scale of radiation. He was running out of time.

"If you let scientists of the city of Dahaka help you, we can make sure that you will live."

The survival instinct acted, making him consider the goddess' offer but he quickly refused his own instinct. The things he had done, the people he had slaughtered to achieve his desperate goal; there was no redemption for him.

His brain unconsciously looked through his most recent actions.

A roc, a titanic demonic bird, served as the power source for the initial phase of the tower. The spiritual energy of a leviathan, a titanic demonic serpent, had been stored to use when the second phase of the tower begins.

He and a squad of members of the Crimson Slaughter captured two dragons to use them as extra fuel for the tower.

His katana had much spiritual energy stored courtesy of his fallen enemies and victims. It should be enough to power one of the gates in case of escape.

At least he had made sure that his children didn't get their hands too dirty. While he was irredeemable, his children still had the chance.

"Jonathan," the goddess called. "Let me help you."

"I'm sorry, Lilith, I shall refuse. I have crossed a line and I can't come back, I will carry on with this plan."

"I don't have to remind you how dangerous it is. The gatekeepers of the Tree of Knowledge are looking for you, A'habbat has managed to keep them distracted but that will no last."

"I see. Don't worry about me if my plan fails, I have a contingency plan."

"..."

"The horrors that are on this planet will keep them in line and they will become the ultimate deterrence of humanity."

"You cannot weaponize them, they are too powerful, intelligent, and resentful. This is a double-edged sword that will result in the extinction of humanity in the best of scenarios."

"No, I know what the Foundation has done, they have a plan to keep humanity alive, the Global Occult Coalition is ready for such a case as well."

"Are you sure of your contingency plan?"

"I am."

"Fine, before I leave. The demonic blood in your younger son has awakened."

"Faster than I thought. Farewell, Lilith."

The statue lost all trace of life and returned to be an inanimate object; for a moment, he thought if he should keep the statue in a more secluded place just in case of unwanted calls. It would be a huge disrespect though, it wouldn't be fair keeping her in the dark when she had helped him so much.

She resurrected Melanie as a half-demon.

He sat on the chair in front of the computer and changed the analysis of his blood for a picture of her younger daughter. He could allow himself a moment to remember the past.

On a day where he was hunting down a stray devil from the Phenex clan, he ended up in the criminal world of the Underworld.

After some interrogations and some help, he located the stray devil in a place of human trafficking (for him, supernatural beings were humans as well). There, he found rooms that he deduced that were used for prostitution.

There were cages filled with exotic creatures and other stray devils that couldn't do anything else to survive other than running into the forest.

In one of the cages, he found a small girl, a nekomata of complete black iris and purple fur. Her poor health condition told him that she wasn't going to endure another day.

After making the stray devil pay, he liberated every captive and took the girl with him. Unfortunately, even Samantha's and Weiss' best efforts were fruitless; she perished.

Frustrated, he sought the help of an acquaintance, Lilith.

One of her servants told him what to do and he did it. A pentagram, black candles, the girl's and his own blood, and the presence of roses in the middle of the pentagram.

Lilith used her own blood to bring the girl back to life.

He had no regrets, even when that meant making errands for the goddess.

Now that he thought about it, those errands were the perfect way to access the demonic knowledge.

Lilith also was what made him know his wife. Indirectly at least.

"Don't worry, Samantha. Our children will grow strong and they will be the guardians of this world."

Kuriho caressed Adam's back, he was sat on her lap with his legs wrapped around her waist and his face on her shoulder.

He was like a cute little boy.

"I'm sorry," he said. "This is not an appropriate behavior."

"While we're in privacy, you don't have to worry for trying to look good for everybody. With me, you can cry, laugh, or moan ̴"

Adam blushed and hid his face against her neck.

Due to the difference in height, she had to bend over a little but that wasn't a problem at all.

"See? You don't have to worry about your appearance, I will love you regardless. And don't worry, I will always lust you."

She giggled and smiled widely when she felt a certain part of his anatomy getting excited. So sad that she had to restrain herself from making babies, she got to make sure that Adam fulfills what he promised to Jennifer.

Well, she could do something else that doesn't lead to him losing his "purity".

No!

She was being too lustful, that was love time no baby-making time. Well, it could be love-making time.

No!

"By the way, do you want to keep cuddling naked?"

"It would be a lie if I say otherwise," he answered honestly. "I feel safer."

"..."

No teasing, no talking, something was off.

"Kuriho?"

He separated to see her face. Was there something bothering her?

Kuriho had lowered her head, Adam was about to ask when she held him tighter and laid down on the bed. His senses quickly focused on the kisses that she began to plant all over his face.

"You little boy! You're safe in my arms!"

Adam purposely rubbed his body against her, the sensation of her huge breasts pressed against his chest was so glorious. She noticed his intention, a predatory smile formed on her face.

"I wanted to cuddle but you made it impossible."

"What did I do?"

"You know exactly what you did. Sadly, it's not the time yet."

After dressing up and paying, they got out of the love hotel.

Kuriho had changed her clothes for a purple yukata that showed a good part of her cleavage, to cheer him up, she had put on fishnets. Since she was almost perfectly linked with his mind, she knew almost every fetish that he had. That was a massive advantage.

That yukata was short enough to show her calves and had openings like a slit dress.

This kind of clothing in addition to her beauty, size, body proportions, and nine tails instantly made her the main focus of attention. She wasn't too uncomfortable; back in her days, dozens and dozens of persons would make a queue to enter her and her sister's shrine to leave offerings and ask for better fortune.

By the way, she noticed Adam's nervousness, that was right; he was too anxious by the number of yokais looking not just at Kuriho but at him as well.

If he had a mission inside the city, he could easily block the anxiety and focus just on the mission but that was not the case. Kuriho was escorting him to the place of his current mission.

She said something about that the duty of a wife is to protect her husband.

His anxiety increased when he noticed a lot of looks being directed at him. Without thinking, he grabbed Kuriho's sleeve, she held his hand as a response.

She couldn't really blame all the women (and some men) that devoured her cute boyfriend with their eyes.

His slightly spiky blond hair was slicked back, his eyes were hidden behind square-shaped goggles which darkened glass would shield his eyes from the Sun but now were hiding his reptile or cat-like eyes.

He was wearing a purple dress shirt that fit perfectly with his defined and muscular torso and arms. Well, he wasn't too bulky just a little.

Over the shirt, a black three-button dressing vest.

He was wearing tight black dressing pants, and ankle boots with a belt on them. On his hips, a formal belt, and on his waist a combat belt ready for action.

She didn't fail to notice that in spite of hugging her arm, he had his hand close to his pistol.

People were careful to not get too close but weren't too worried.

On the combat belt, there was the personal crest of the Empress.

"We're getting closer, don't worry, I'm here."

She felt his body relaxing a little but his state of alert didn't cease. With all the things that had happened, it was natural to be like that.

[-]

Adam spun the karambit repeatedly, he had a wide smile on his face while manipulating the curve knife. He would be in a trance if it wasn't for the Foundation Operatives around him.

A squad of 13 plus him, they were part of the MTF Lambda-5 "White Rabbits". Specialized in the containment of anomalies that can manipulate space and time.

The Foundation base in Supernatural Kyoto had detected disturbances in the space-time fabric of that dimension, they converged in a secluded village.

Since he was one of the nearest operatives, Adam was tasked with the duty of assisting the squad; Jennifer decided to assist as well because of her boredom.

Actually, that village was the one where the Emperor's shady business was tracked.

Adam had put Elin to work since Yasaka asked him to reveal how evil Haruki was. His adoptive sister and servant had a familiar with shapeshifting abilities.

Yasaka gave them some names and places to investigate; he had to train with his grandmother Blake so he made Elin do all the investigative job.

The Foundation operatives were in the city to take him to the village right at the moment where he was training and the attacks began.

A lot of things happened in such a short time.

Now, let's focus on the mission.

Jennifer was already in the village, she scouted ahead; if anything strange happens she would inform them.

Adam hadn't changed his clothes, the only thing he changed was the magazines in his combat belt. Two doubled magazines for the M4A1 that he used as his main weapon now, it also had a shotgun accessory.

Even with the goggles, he could see clearly. Those new eyes were amazing.

Now that he was really caring, he was out of place in that helicopter.

Everyone was using black and gray tactical gear while he was so casual.

"The anomalies concentrate in this village, we must be careful. The population of the village consists of nekomatas, they are kind of secluded so they probably are not used to the presence of humans."

"And especially if they are heavily armed," added Adam. "I'm just saying facts."

"What do you suggest, Omega?" questioned the leader of the squad, a woman.

Adam meditated his answer for a few seconds, if there was a way to avoid direct conflict then that was the best choice to take. That was so familiar, the last time he decided to be pacific, he had to take cover.

"What if you let me do the talking?" he touched the Empress' crest on his belt. "I can make sure that whoever is the leader of the village listens."

"Do I have to remind you that you are here just as support?"

Adam raised his hands and shrugged. "It was just a suggestion, almighty. I have my doubts."

Adam smirked briefly when the squad leader leaned forward clearly pissed off. Oh, yes, the golden times of pissing somebody off for no reason.

"What are those doubts?"

He crossed his legs and put the karambit back on its sheath on the rear of the combat belt. If he managed to manipu...make her give him the reason, he would have enough time to talk with Jennifer.

"The Foundation is seeking peace with the supernatural world, right?" Adam rested the buttock of his carbine against the floor. "We should show ourselves as pacific as possible to gain the trust of the people around."

The leader wanted to deny his reasoning but she couldn't find anything wrong with it. The Foundation was seeking coexistence, appearing heavily armored all of sudden would be counterproductive. They had already let the Empress know about their intervention in her territory and she said that she had sent a message to inform the inhabitants of the village, in theory, their presence shouldn't be so unexpected.

But a single man was less intimidating than an entire squad.

"Fine, you will get in first and be diplomatic. You have an hour from the moment we set foot out on the ground"

"Yes, sir!"

The helicopter landed a few meters near the village, close enough to get inside quickly yet far enough to evacuate successfully.

Adam walked to the village with surprising calm.

He didn't let his guns though, he was trying to be diplomatic, not suicidal.

There weren't too many people and while some buildings were just fine, the vast majority seemed that was about to crumble. He quickly noticed the number of people around him.

There weren't males, just females.

What happened to the male population?

Was that a village exclusively for women?

Whatever it was, he was going to find out.

"Salutations, I am Adam Rose, I'm here to investigate."

Before he could continue with his introduction, a little girl got closer to him. She was held back by her mother.

That reaction made him suspicious, it was natural to be wary of outsiders though.

"I came here on the Empress' behalf and on the behalf of the organization she's working with. I would like to talk with the chief of this village."

The women shared looks. Alright, that was being weird; no males, frightened women, and complete silence after asking to be taken to the chief.

He should investigate first and have all the facts before trying to think what was the situation in that village.

"Are you here to take us?" questioned one of the members of the crowd. "Or you're here to take our daughters?"

Adam decided to leave all basic combat rules aside by resting his Carbine M4 on his right shoulder. The gun was upside-down, he wouldn't have time to point at them if they attack him.

And that was the idea.

He had to show confidence and zero intention to kill, it didn't mean that he was going to low his guard though.

"No, I am not. I came here to investigate a disturbance in the fabric of space and time. There are sensitive things that I need to discuss with your chief."

Silence again. That wasn't resulting.

"I'm here to help but I need to talk with your chief."

A small girl came out from the crowd and managed to avoid the hands of the adults that tried to keep her away from the outsider. She stood behind him and pulled his pants.

"My mom is the chief-nyan, I can lead you to her."

"Thanks, little one," he thanked. "Maybe one of them can accompany us."

The way to the chief's house wasn't too long, the girl excitedly talked with him about her parents. After a few minutes of conversation, he learned the little girl's name.

Kuroka.

Looking at someone so innocent and happy helped him to remember his duty.

"This is my home-nyan!"

Adam managed to hide his concerns, the girl sounded so happy that he couldn't allow himself to break it.

The house in question was a shrine with the statue of a cat outside; after entering, he noticed that it also accomplished the function of a house.

Besides the altar, he noticed three futons and a small table with papers and books on its surface.

"Mom?" called Kuroka. "Someone wants to see you?"

"Coming, sweetie!"

Adam slapped Kuroka's hand when she tried to touch his pistol, he repeated the same action when she tried to grab his knife.

"Do not touch, these are dangerous things, little one."

"I'm eight, I can touch them."

The nekomata that accompanied them was about to say something but was interrupted by Kuroka's mother.

A woman in her mid-30s.

"No, you can't. You can leave us, Saki-san."

She doubted a few moments before following the order.

Adam took his time to analyze the chief.

She was as tall as him, her kimono that of a miko which meant that she was the one taking care of the shrine. She purposely had let it lower enough to show her ample cleavage, not as big as Kuriho's or the Empress' though.

Okay, that was an inappropriate thought.

Her white hair was tied in a ponytail, her face carried a tired expression. Adam didn't know why he felt bad for her, maybe because that was the same face that his mother had when she learned about Kassandra's death.

The cat ears on top of her head were lowered just like the twin tails in her back. The fur was as white as her hair.

A glimpse of her hazelnut eyes communicated him tiredness, not physical but something deeper.

Kuroka sprinted towards her mom and hugged her leg. "Hello ̴"

"Hello," she caressed her daughter's head. "Is this the man who wishes to see me?"

"Yes! He is...uh."

Kuroka gave him a look at him seeking help to not let her mother down.

"I'm here to investigate disturbances in the fabric of space and time."

"It sounds serious," she said. "Kuroka, would you be so kind of making company to your baby sister?"

Kuroka's eyes brightened and quickly left.

Sisterhood, huh?

"I think that the onsen would be the ideal place to talk."

Adam rose an eyebrow. "Why?"

"This shrine has one and it is kind of secluded."

Thus, they went to the onsen of the shrine.

Once there, Adam couldn't be wrong if he said that the place was the nicest in the building. The hot water looked so tempting but he wasn't there for leisure.

"I'll be brief, Miss, unless you wish to hear all of the details."

"I would like to, details like your name for example."

Adam blushed slightly, how could he miss something so basic?

Jennifer would have kicked his ass.

"Apologies, I'm a little distracted. My name is Adam Rose, servant of the current Maou Leviathan, agent of the Foundation, and temporary knight of your majesty."

"My name is Fujimai, the miko of this shrine and provisional chief."

With the due introductions done, it was time to make questions. He had the hunch that she was the one who was going to start.

She lifted her kimono enough to submerge her calves in the hot water; a clear sign of stress.

"Are you alright, Miss?" he shortened the distance. "It seems that you could really enjoy a massage or a good nap."

"Thanks for your concern, I've been a bit busy lately. My newborn daughter tends to consume a lot of my time and energy."

Adam smirked, he had a soft spot for babies, they were the maximum expression of innocence.

"A tiring duty, isn't it?"

"Motherhood?"

"Yes. I admire you."

"Hmm?"

The blond blushed a little but he decided to finish his thought.

"Taking care of another living being, making sure she grows strong. It's more honorable than ending lives."

Adam's look turned grim briefly before returning to normal. Good thing he was wearing goggles.

"I know that you might have questions, I'll try to answer them."

Fujimai noticed his intention to diverge the attention from that last sentence of his.

"Well, what is this Foundation you work for?"

Adam meditated on his options.

A) Lie.

B) Say the truth.

C) Asking if her daughters needed a father and if she wanted another child.

Okay, the last one was just a joke.

"The Foundation is a Private Military Company specialized in investigation and containment of things that are out of what is considered normal."

Alright, revealing what the Foundation really was would mean his termination and he didn't want to taste the newest plasma cannon.

"Normal? Like a pretty girl with cat ears?"

Adam smirked. "Something weirder, like a shadow that can think by itself."

"Oh."

"There is another matter besides the disturbances in the space-time fabric. The Empress wants to sink her husband really deep, we tracked down his shady businesses to this village."

"The Empress finally has opened her eyes, she should be heartbroken right now."

Fujimai's words were genuine, she was showing concern.

"It's a probability. I would like to know what happened here and what the Emperor had to do with it."

"What about the disturbances?"

"My organization has a squad outside the village, we have the Empress permission to investigate and protect this village if needed."

"Right!," Fujimai moved her legs sending drops to the air and wetting her kimono a little. "I read the letter, I'm sorry, my-"

"Motherhood is a full-time duty, I won't judge you, Miss."

Fujimai smiled, that young man was so polite and nice.

"There's no problem, we don't have enough magicians to take care of the disturbances."

Adam crouched beside her. "That's why we're here, to help. Now, about what I asked."

"Oh, right."

A month ago, a large group of armed men had attacked the village indiscriminately killing and destroying everything they could. The men of the village hid their wives and children while they fought.

Some of them were caught along with women, the chief died and Fujimai decided to take the role in order to keep the order and have a better chance to survive.

The already scarce number of males nekomatas had gotten thinner.

She didn't know if any of that had to do with the Emperor though.

"Hmmm."

The Spirits and even Adam (internally) sighed, Sylphide was about to say something either stupid or genial.

"I remember that male nekomata are rare, like very rare. The Emperor had just destroyed the chances of this race to have pure-blooded offspring."

That was surprisingly serious; point for the Spirit of Wind.

"Let's see the bright side at least, this is so sad. This means that you can pick whatever woman of this village you want and they won't refuse, you can have the entire village as concubines if you want!"

And there was the stupidity; the score goes back to zero.

"Ho ho ho, you can even choose a little girl like that Kuro-"

"Now you're getting too excited, calm down," asked the Spirit of Fire. "We've seen hundreds of cultures but I don't think that Adam is into children marriage."

"She said that she was eight, all he has to do is wait five years, and then it would be a teenage marriage."

"I think that you don't get the point. Adam likes adults, no little girls."

"What if the little girl looks like one but she actually is centuries old?"

"Then it would be the opposite, Adam would be the child."

Adam used all of his concentration to block the voices, they could be so annoying sometimes.

"The attack must have been done with another purpose than just destruction. The women that were taken prisoners probably were sold in the black market."

"Why would we be attacked?" she questioned totally frustrated, not even the hot water was enough to calm her down.

"There are a lot of reasons actually, the one with most logic is that he needed to silence this village. He has drug and human traffic networks all over Kyoto. Is it a problem if I take pictures of the village?"

Fujimai stood up, the time to fulfill her new duties had come. She almost could hear her youngest daughter's cries.

"It's not, you can do whatever you want if it is to reveal the atrocities of the Emperor. Even small children had disappeared before the attack."

"I won't disappoint you, he will face justice."

"What will you do?"

"There are secrets that have to be revealed."

Natasha had just put her kimono on when Kuriho got into the bedroom all of a sudden. By reflex, she had taken her hand to her hip but there wasn't a pistol.

Kuriho started to talk with her and almost got her to talk about Adam's body but she managed to avoid the questions and redirect them towards her.

She had taken down a few attackers, got her lab coat and normal clothes stained with blood, the Empress gave her that kimono.

That happened a few hours ago, she had taken her time in the bathroom. She used that time to think about the recent events and about Adam.

She didn't know why but could feel that he was under a lot of pressure, maybe that was why he had decided to ask them to be his girlfriends.

Well, besides her guilt, she really felt attracted to Adam.

When he was in Area 51, she used to go to his cell and talk to him or give him food, sometimes hugs or just hold his hand.

Back then, she got interested in Adam's philosophy and beliefs, and in the stories about his dead cousin.

She understood how broken he was, and she felt good for it. She felt that she could give him all of her support and love so he could heal.

The experiments that she and Elin had performed on him were horrendous and to that day still were nightmare fuel.

Her guilt originated not just from the things she did but from the understanding and realization that she was hurting the person she was starting to love.

That's why she begged Axl to be his psychiatrist and personal doctor; to atone for her sins.

She even was ready for anything.

If he wanted to torture her, so be it.

If he wanted to rape her, so be it.

If he wanted to never see her again, so be it.

Of course that she underestimated Adam's point of view; to his eyes, she was his savior.

That crushing guilt was what pushing every other feeling aside, if it was going to make Adam even more concerned or confused then it was irrelevant.

Of course that she wanted to be the only woman in Adam's life but she knew that he would rather be alone than choosing one of them and break their hearts.

And being alone would be too harmful to him, he would sink deeper in the mud.

He was kind of addicted to alcohol, she saw it in the restaurant in the normal Kyoto. He had drunk a lot of liquor like juice and wanted more.

She needed to be there for him, by his side.

She (and the rest) could be his moral compass because his line between right and wrong could be very thin and flexible. He also was a scared child whose innocence was shattered in millions of pieces, he was craving for affection, he was love-starved.

"You really care for him, don't you?"

Natasha blinked twice to come back to reality, Kuriho's fluffy tails relaxed her enough to dwell in her inner thoughts. There was no use denying it, she had already read her mind.

"I do. He is my boyfriend now."

"He is too naive and inexperienced, besides that he will have a lot in his mind to notice."

The red-haired scientist scratched her head.

"We need to fix that guilt of yours, it's not healthy to neglect yourself. I saw how he doesn't blame you for anything and he had forgiven everything but you haven't forgiven yourself."

Natasha stood up but Kuriho forced her to sit again. That titanic force of hers was something that her human body couldn't resist.

She didn't want to talk about it and she knew that it was wrong not to do so.

She hadn't talked with Jennifer and she was sure that the blonde hated her for what she did. It wasn't like she actively tried to engage in a conversation besides the occasional greeting and question.

Kuriho was the closest thing she had to a friend, a friend that she experimented on.

She was so horrible!

"I-I can't look you in the face, I did horrible things to you."

The fox woman shook her head and put her hand on Natasha's shoulder. She could feel that the emotions began to overwhelm her.

"Cry or shout, it doesn't matter. Just get rid of the pressure on your chest."

Natasha couldn't stand it anymore, everyone treated her so nicely, respected her, trusted her. She didn't deserve any of it!

She has killed, manipulated, lied, butchered people with her experiments. She was a monster and deserved to be treated as one.

Why Kuriho showed her mercy and compassion?

Why did Adam choose to love her?

Even Jennifer being indifferent wasn't enough, she had to hate her, despise her.

"Why are you helping me?!"

Kuriho didn't react to Natasha's outburst, she simply took her glasses to keep them away from tears or damage.

Natasha stood up, she had broken completely at that moment. A waterfall came out from each eye, ran across her cheeks, and then fell to the floor.

The Korean fox-woman didn't make a move to comfort her, Natasha needed to get all of that out of her system.

"I stole your blood, didn't do anything when they ripped off your tails!"

Kuriho made a small frown of discomfort, her tails could grow again but have them ripped off was painful; comparable to have a broken arm twisted and pulled.

She ended up provoking severe dementia to the ones who made her suffer so much.

"I can't blame you for anything, you were not in a position to do anything."

"Why?!" she exploded and got closer to her. "Adam said the same, you are saying the same!"

Kuriho braced herself, Natasha's slap didn't hurt too much but she felt the full strength behind it. She was stronger than she looked.

"Adam doesn't want to hate me, Jennifer doesn't hate me, you do it!"

"No, you are my friend."

"I am not!"

Natasha slapped her again, she was expecting some kind of punishment, rejection, something.

"But you were the only one who gave me food and drinks."

Another slap.

"It's nothing to thank me for!"

"When you are starving it is."

Another slap.

"I did the same to other prisoners before butchering them in surgery!"

This time her hand was stopped and she was waiting for the hit but it never came.

Kuriho stood up, intimidating her a little with her impressive height.

"Now you're behaving like a child. I'm good pampering children."

"W-Ah!"

Kuriho embraced her tightly, the difference in height provoked Natasha's face to get sank between the Korean's ample mammaries.

Natasha's anger subsided and was replaced by embarrassment. Why was she doing that?

"Now that your anger has disappeared, you can begin to accept that we have forgiven your actions. We don't blame you and you shouldn't blame yourself."

Kuriho started to caress her head causing an even bigger sentiment of embarrassment. Despite this, she felt better after getting all of that pressure out of her chest.

It didn't mean that her guilt wasn't there anymore but felt way better.

"Remember that I am your friend and Adam is your lover, you can trust us and come to us in your times of need."

Natasha separated from her with the color of her face matching that of her hair.

"And Jennifer will be your friend too. We'll be like a sisterhood!"

"How am I going to be her friend?" she questioned while massaging her cheeks in an attempt to vanish her flush. "We don't even talk to each other."

Kuriho sat on the bed and let out a cute "pff".

"I'll take care of it."

Natasha scowled and crossed her arms.

"Aren't you being a little manipulative?"

Kuriho winked at her and smirked. "Someone has to do it, Adam wouldn't."

"That's true but because it is not okay."

Kuriho sighed, this child didn't know anything!

Natasha felt how she was bound by her fluffy tails and was tossed onto the bed.

"Hey!"

Kuriho got onto the bed and knelt, she contained a smile before Natasha's confused face.

She pointed both index fingers against her head and...

"Think, Natty. Do you really believe that we all are going to be Adam's brides if we don't pull some strings?"

"Eeeh...No?"

"We're here to make sure that everyone is happy."

After looking at Kuriho giggling, Natasha chose to follow her game.

"What if they're jealous?"

"That's why we're here, to keep future lovers from feeling jealous...or die."

After a few seconds of complete silence, they both burst into laughter.

Serafall appeared in Yasaka's bedroom, she was confused for a second but when she saw the Royal kimono on the bed she understood that something serious had happened and Yasaka redirected her transportation there.

In fact, she was standing on a magic circle drawn on the floor.

Her friend got out of the bathroom with nothing but a towel.

"Yasaka, what did I miss?"

"An attack, it was already contained."

"Are you alright?"

Serafall got closer to Yasaka genuinely worried for her well being.

"I am, Serafall. I have to reassure my people."

"Where's Haruki?"

"I created a fake meeting in Kanto, he went there while I'm here to regain my people trust."

"And he went with one of his concubines?"

"Likely. You should find something else to wear."

Serafall looked at her dress; after so many years, she was beginning to criticize her fashion sense. Incredible.

"I would like to present our friendship formally, to the public. I want to show that our races are working in an alliance."

"Speaking of alliance, I think that we're going to have a friend in common."

"Hmm?"

"I'll tell you later. I will wear my Devil Queen uniform."

Yasaka placed her hand on Serafall's face and ran her fingers over her shoulder and caressed her chest.

Serafall blushed a little and smirked before holding her hand. "Are you tempting me?"

"I would like to relax."

"And I would like to take a bath."

Adam had secluded himself in a tower, he felt safer in a place where he could watch everything. He saw the buildings where the members of Lambda-5 were.

The village was small enough for them to scatter and investigate, in the case of needing to regroup, they could reach the center of the village in a minute or two.

The flow in that village felt disturbed, thanks to Lambda-5 he knew that it had to do with time and space. He wasn't qualified to investigate that sort of thing.

He was trained for combat and infiltration and was qualified to perform surgeries and give his medical opinion. He had knowledge of basic physics and chemistry.

He shouldn't have quit Harvard...

Who was he trying to deceive?

He hated the schedules and that monotony, the envy, the lack of something interesting. The people around him didn't even bother to be something more than teammates or nuisances.

The message on his scroll got him out of his trance.

Those devices were amazing, he just had to separate the small two titanium rods and the graphene screen would reveal. Remnant might be a bit small but its technology was impressive.

Cutest cyborg in the universe "Mary": I'm fine.

William: Have you slept?

Cutest cyborg in the universe "Mary": Sometimes.

That name was so large, better shorten it.

William: You're young, you must sleep a lot, okay? Any problem with your body?

Mary: It's hard to move, I feel pain if I lay down.

William: Don't worry, we'll find a way to help you.

Mary: When will you come?

Adam bit his lip, he couldn't lie to her and say "soon". He didn't know if he was going to see her in the near future.

William: To be honest, I don't know, the security is hard to fool. But I will go to pay you a visit some day, would you like a gift?"

Mary: [deleted words].

Mary: A plushie.

William: Okay, anything special in mind?

Mary: A squid.

William: Okay, I'll buy it. I got to go, make sure to rest enough time.

Mary: OK.

Adam ended the communication and closed the scroll but couldn't put it back in his pocket because of Jennifer's hand grabbing his wrist.

"Who were you talking with?"

"My mother."

"Don't lie to me, Greg."

Adam gulped, half intimidated half aroused by her voice full of authority.

"The cyborg girl."

Jennifer released Adam's wrist and crossed her arms. "How?"

"She hacks and modifies the signal of the antennas of Site-19, when she feels lonely, she calls me."

"Do you have any idea of how many rules you have broken?"

"Yes, I do. I'm testing something."

"What is it?"

Adam put a finger on his chin, to say or not to say.

"I want to see how many strings Axl moves, I have received special treatment and I want to know why."

Jennifer got closer to him.

That mere action was inappropriate during a mission yet there she was. She blamed her mating season.

A normal vampire wouldn't have it, but she was the daughter of a succubus-vampire hybrid. It wasn't so intense years ago, now it was like a volcano on the verge of eruption. That was Adam's fault.

"Axl also protected me but I don't think that pushing the limits of the Council's patience is a good idea."

"Well, just time will tell."

Before even realizing it, Adam embraced her with an arm. That physical contact felt so good.

Jennifer broke the hug; she shook the dust off of her clothes to hide her arousal. Next time she planned to stay indoors and please her instincts alone.

Adam analyzed her from head to feet.

She was wearing a black biker jacket and a red shirt underneath, tight black pants, and biker boots.

Adam let out a purr just like a cat, he covered his mouth a second after. What was that?

"I know that you just have awakened all of your animal instincts. But are you serious?" The diabolic voice sighed. "Show more control before you disappoint the entire demon race again."

Jennifer limited herself to just pat his head, that was the first time she heard him make a sound like that and it was cute.

"I see that you liked my outfit."

"If I knew that you were going to dress like that, I would have asked Elin for other clothes."

"Maybe next time. What have you found about the Emperor?"

Adam shrugged. "I'm sorry, I haven't found anything yet. The chief said that there were disappearances before the attack and there is a lack of magicians."

"The one I interrogated told me that the attack in Kyoto was payback for Haruki's lack of commitment to fulfill his part of the deal. They said that they needed magicians to awaken something."

Adam rubbed the bridge of his nose to focus. "The connection between the attacks and Haruki is what Yas...the Empress needs. I just fear that all of this has something to do with my father."

That was what he feared the most, his father causing a slaughter or provoking harm to innocents.

The nekomatas that were captured and sold in the black market likely were slaved or raped.

The mere assumption provoked him anger beyond his control, he wanted to pummel his dad so bad.

Jennifer didn't know what to say, she knew that those mercenaries worked for Jonathan. He had been so kind and good with her when she stayed on the Rose Manor, imagining the same man causing dozens if not hundreds of deaths was almost impossible to do.

She admired him when she was younger and she knew that Adam admired his father too. He wanted to be like him, at least when Jonathan was a man of honor.

"I'm so stupid. All we need is the date of the attack so we can investigate the sales that were made that day. "

"Why the same day?"

"Well, I suppose that the nekomatas captured were high in numbers and if he was using this village to make a profit in the black market, it is a probability that he sold them."

"It is unlikely that he could have hidden them from the Empress. Either he sold them quickly or..."

They both shared looks. "Killed them."

Adam crossed his arms disgusted by the idea, he glared at the ground fantasying about making Haruki suffer.

Jennifer embraced herself in a futile attempt to contain herself from patting his head. He was her boyfriend now, it was totally fine, right?

She looked at her surroundings, she couldn't hear or see anything.

"He will pay, we will make sure of it," she said while caressing his head. "You need to focus on this village first."

Adam nodded and walked to the window. "I feel that something is coming. We should-"

A huge disturbance in the flow, something was violating the space-time fabric.

The couple quickly opened their scrolls to communicate with Lambda-5; they were welcomed by the voice of the second leader of the squad.

"Black Rabbit here, multiple portals opening."

"It's just one. Massive and aggressive; possible invasion, retreat to the center of the village. Mad Hatter!"

"Yes, madam?"

"Go back to the helicopter, we need backup."

"Right away."

Jennifer turned into multiple bats made of darkness and descended to the nearest building.

Adam checked his gear and adjusted his goggles. He was so excited, that was his first time fighting things out of that dimension.

Well, technically it was the supernatural dimension and not human.

He shouldn't be so excited, if whatever was coming was destructive or hostile, it was going to harm the innocent nekomatas in the village.

They were just a few dozens, they should be able to evacuate quickly.

"I shouldn't but I will take care of it, master. It's already done."

Adam wondered what Kenkyo did but his doubts were answered when all the inhabitants of the village got out of their houses and started to leave.

"Master, three on the shrine don't want to leave."

"How much time we have before the opening?"

"Four minutes and thirty-three seconds."

Adam jumped off the tower; he summoned the power of the Earth to land without damage. Once he touched the ground, he changed to the power of the Wind to run as fast as he could towards the shrine.

On the way, Adam hit some objects making him realize that his movement speed was superior to his own reflexes which slowly started to get used to the new speed.

Adam slowed down but hit his face against the concrete wall of the shrine. He rubbed his nose and got inside.

"Kuroka!"

There was no time to lose, he had to find them and make them leave.

"I'm here-nyan"

The little girl appeared with her baby sister in her arms. From his position, he could see white hair and fur.

"Where is your mother?" Adam shook his head, that wasn't the right thing to say at the moment. "You three must leave, now!"

"We can't leave without dad, we told him that we will wait here."

"Girl, you are the older sister, right?"

"Nyan."

"Then your duty is protecting your sister, isn't it?"

"Nyan."

"This village will be destroyed, you won't protect your sister if you stay here. Your mother should understand, now, go for her and leave."

Adam knew that he was running out of time, he had to get them out as soon as possible.

"I understand, Rose-san, we're leaving right now. I can feel that something is coming, I won't risk my daughters' lives."

The blond didn't know what to say or do; he felt that leaving without a word would be rude.

"Farewell."

He ran again towards the center of the now-abandoned village, just before arriving he stopped using the wind.

Adam checked his gear again and knelt beside a member of Lambda-5. They all had taken cover behind the nearest buildings and were ready to shoot.

Adam managed to restrain his smile while moving the selector switch from safe to automatic fire.

"Do not shoot first, we must be completely sure about this," Alice, the leader, said.

The electronic devices became crazy for a second, there was absolute silence.

Then, the space-time fabric was broken and a portal manifested.

What was on the other side was a goddamn army!

Everyone could guess by the looks of it that there were tanks and infantry equipped with advanced technology.

"That flag, is that IJAMEA?"

Adam wasn't wrong, the rest of the squad didn't correct him and swore instead.

"What are those nationalists doing here?" questioned the soldier beside Adam.

"They aren't our IJAMEA, Jabberwocky. They are an extra-dimensional threat."

The blond felt Jennifer's presence behind him and turned back to look at her face; she was completely serious and bloodthirsty.

The commander, who wore a kind of super-advanced samurai armor, saw them and lifted his gun.

"The enemy of our glorious Japan is here, they shall be eliminated."

Adam silently thought about the situation, there were no weapons or vehicles in their possession with enough power to take out one of those tanks.

Their weapons couldn't do too much against those exosuits.

Jennifer could get hurt!

Kyoto will be a wasteland!

It was either using the elements until his limits or...

"This is getting interesting!"

Adam grunted and readied for the battle.
