I woke up to arguing. Which did not help my headache.
I was in a hospital bed with a chair to my head left and a curtain to my right. The room looked like a long, wide hallway with dots set up throughout the room. Most of the cots were empty except for a few.
In front of me was a whole crowd of people. The crowd contained most of my professors and Alex and Harris. The professors were partially screaming at each other and Harris and Alex looked like they were about to throw some punches. Nobody even noticed I woke up until I brought that to everyone's attention.
"Hey!" I yelled. "I'm not sure what everyone's fighting over but it needs to stop now! This is not solving any problems nor is it helping my headache. So, could you all just stop for a minute and breathe?"
Everyone stared at me. They were shocked. McGonagall was the only one who recovered quickly enough to take action and be a leader.
"The kid is right," she admitted, "fighting will get us nowhere. Now, everyone please try to relax for the rest of the day. Tomorrow we start school and I want everyone to be at the top of your game." She turned to Harris and Alex, "I'm not sure what you two are doing here but you weren't helping either. Now," she turned to me, "it looks like you are well taken care of so I'll just leave. Bye, Logan. I hope you feel better. I will trust that these two can fill you in?" She asked the boys.
"Yes ma'am," Alex spoke for the both of them, "we will give her the best care we can." He smiled at me.
"Wonderful," and with that Minnie turned and left the Hospital Wing.
Alex looked at me, "I thought I had lost you."
"You're not getting rid of me that easily," I smiled, "So, what house were you sorted into? And who are you two sharing your dorm with?"
"I was sorted into Slytherin," Alex said.
"And," Harris jumped in, "we are sharing a dorm."
"That's wonderful!" I laughed.
"What?" Harris asked.
"You sound like an old married couple and I am so here for it." We all laughed.
That day I was released from the hospital wing. Since we had no classes, as it was Sunday, I went back to my dorm room to find out who I was sharing with.
As I walked into the dorm I sighed. Sitting on the bed reading a book was Vanessa.
She looked up from the book and said, "Quite a show you performed on Friday."
"What? Did your dumb sister tell you to say that?" I snapped. It was out of context but I deemed it necessary.
"What is your problem?" Like she didn't know.
"If you must know it's you. You and your sister bullied me to no end when we were younger and I could never let it go."
"Wow," she said, "it's no wonder you got sorted into Slytherin."
"Yeah well it's no secret why you did," I informed her.
She cleared her throat, "Look, I'm sorry about the way I treated you. Can we please start over? Maybe we can be friends."
I sighed, "Okay, I can try but if you make fun of me or talk about me or anything slightly insulting or rude we're done. Oh, and you have to be nice to me in front of your sister."
"Deal." We shook hands.
"So, what are you reading?" I asked, trying to change the subject.
"Oh, it's Lord of the Rings," she laughed it off like it was no big deal.
"No way!" I exclaimed. "I love those books! I've read them at least five times."
We laughed and totally nerded out talking about them. We stayed up half the night talking and finally passed out from exhaustion. Just as i was falling asleep, I thought, Maybe sharing a room with her isn't going to be as bad as I thought. Then I drifted off to a dreamless sleep. I was wrong of course but at that moment I was too tired to care.
