When I awoke the next morning I sat up and realized I was the only one in my dorm room. That meant Vanessa hadn't made sure I was awake when she went to class. I looked at the clock on my nightstand and saw it said 12:42 p.m. which meant that I had missed half my classes.
I panicked so quickly I got dressed and remembered that I had Charms class with Professor Flitwik. He is not going to be happy, I thought as I walked down the corridors to his class.
I ran inside his class and said, "Sorry Professor my alarm didn't go off and my roommate didn't wake me either." I noticed the whole class was staring at me. Probably because I was late but I didn't want to take any precautions.
"What?" I asked Alex as I sat down.
"You shouldn't have been late on the first day and you missed like half our classes."
"Is something wrong Ms. Davison?" Flitwik asked me.
"May I go to the restroom?" I asked him. I needed to get out of there. I didn't want to cry in front of the class and my eyes were already watering.
"May I go too please?" A girl with fiery red hair asked.
"Yes, you both may go," he answered.
We both got up and quickly walked out of the classroom.
While we were walking the redhead tried to make small talk. "So," she said, "you're a deep sleeper huh."
"Yep."
"And you're in Syltherien."
"Yep."
"And you're-"
"Look, you're nice and all but I don't know you."
"I know but I wanted to change that."
"Do you think I'm interesting or something?"
"No-well yes but it's not what you think." She was getting nervous. "I've had a little trouble making friends and it looked like you have too. I just wanted to help you and maybe, in return, you could possibly help me," she explained.
"Oh." I was a little surprised by this answer. She was beautiful so I didn't know why she had trouble making friends and I wasn't sure how she knew I had trouble too. "You're very-"
"Perceptive, intelligent, beautiful, courageous, funny?" She cut off.
I laughed. "I was going to say intuitive but those work too. I'm Logan by the way." I stuck my hand out for her to shake it. She looked at it a little confused. Then she realized what I was doing.
"I'm Calynn. Calynn Potter," and she shook it.
We laughed and bonded over things all the way to the bathroom. When we entered Calynn stopped dead in her tracks.
"What?" Then I saw what she was looking at.
It was Gianna. Dead on the flooded bathroom floor.
