Hey everyone, Idol here and welcome to my new fic! I should be working on my other ones but I have a lot of this already prewritten so I thought I might as well publish it. This fic is going to update weekly on Saturdays and will be a Todoroki x OC fic. The other OC is getting paired with Kirishima. I'm stuck on what other ships to do (Shindeku or Bakudeku? Shinkami or Kamisero? UGH-) So give your thoughts in the reviews!

I'm not going to describe my OCs, even though there are a lot (I didn't mean for it to end up that way, I hate stories with too many OCs) because I want you to get to know them as the story continues. And I am aware my OC might seem like a Mary Sue but she is far from it. You'll see in later chapters. But feel free to tell me how much of a Mary Sue she is in this chapter. I've rewritten it once, I can rewrite it again.

Please leave constructive criticism, it motivates me to work on the fic!

As old doors close, new doors open.

And the cycle repeats…

We were staring up at the huge arch at the entrance to the high school when I finally spoke.

"So U.A is one of the biggest schools in the country, but why is everything so big?"

"It's so big because it's U.A."

I shifted my stare to my best friend standing beside me, who was looking at me with a deadpan expression. "How much money does that mammalian principal even have!?"

My best friend, Yangchen Tse, was a curious character. She was an exchange student from China and was living with me and Aizawa-san, my guardian. Her inky-black hair was pulled up into a bun and her dark eyes, although severe, held a great amount of kindness. She was wearing a lavender shirt with black chinese characters emblazoned on it under a jeans jacket which she would remove later, and black leggings ending just below her knees. This was her usual attire, perfect for doing just about anything she wanted except attending a fancy ball or something, which probably wasn't going to happen anytime soon.

I myself couldn't be considered normal under any standards. I left the right side of my frontal bangs loose while braiding the other half behind my ear. The rest of my striking dandelion-colored hair was pulled up in a ponytail and ended just above my shoulders. My battle suit consisted of a green hoodie and blue tights along with some neon-yellow sneakers.

Why did I refer to it as a battle suit?

The question you should be asking is "Why are we at U.A High School?"

The truth is that we were about to take the practical portion of the U.A High School Entrance Exams. We had already aced the written portion judging from some self-scoring.

Aizawa-san, although he worked at U.A, had not given us any hint as to what the practical exam would have us do, so we were denied the advantage we would have otherwise had. But that was fine; I wouldn't have it any other way.

Better to show my skills and get in on my own merit than get in because of an unfair advantage.

I looked over at Yangchen and grabbed her hand suddenly. She looked surprised but she gave a squeeze back. Together we walked through the enormous archway and set foot in U.A, ready to give our all. Appearing unflappable, we took confident strides towards the entrance hall.

All was well until the collision.

"Kiraru, behind you!"

I suddenly pitched forward with a cry as a force- rather, a person, rammed into me. I stopped my fall by landing on the palms of my hands, using the momentum to flip myself on my feet. This way, I got a good look at Yangchen, who had leaped to the side, and the person who ran into me, who had stumbled after running into me but had caught his footing.

When he lifted his head, the first thing I noticed was his hair.

It was like a forest; dark green and untameable. His eyes held the same color and looking into them, I immediately knew that this child was nothing if not the personification of innocence. Freckles dotted his pale cheeks and he wore a simple sea-green jumpsuit.

Clutching his bag nervously, he bowed at us. "I'm so sorry! I'll be on my way now-"

He went to take a step forward but instead tripped on a stray pebble and was dropping like a sack of potatoes when another girl dashed to his side and slapped his arm. Suddenly he wasn't falling; he was floating in the air while flapping his arms in a panic when he finally realized what was going on.

The girl tapped her fingertips together with a cry of "Release!" and the greenhead was suddenly subject to gravity again. He clumsily fell on his feet while now it was the other girl's turn to bow. "I'm so sorry for using my quirk, but falling is a bad omen!"

Her cheeks seemed to always be flushed pink and her face seemed more round than egg-shaped. Combined with her soft, cheerful eyes and she held the same childlike innocence the boy had. She was wearing a winter coat, underneath of which must be her fighting attire and black leggings. Her hair was a caramel brown.

She raised her head and regarded us. "Are you two alright?"

"Never better," I flashed a grin at her. Yangchen nodded in agreement as I continued. "My name is Amano Kiraru and this is Yangchen Tse."

She smiled at us. "I'm Uraraka Ochako! And who are you?" She turned her gaze to the tensed boy, who seemed to shrivel under the attention.

"I'm, uh, Mido-Midoriya Izuku-"

"OI DEKU!"

A roar interrupted the forest boy's stuttering as a kid with explosive bleached-blonde hair stomped up to him. His narrow blood-red eyes looked over the other kid's form with disdain. "Do your worst, you quirkless nobody."

And just like that, he was on his way, everyone sidestepping him to avoid being the subject of his ire.

Eyes blown wide, Uraraka stared at the greenhead. "You know him?"

"Uh, yeah…" The kid, Deku I think since that's what the blonde kid called him. "Ka-Kacchan is my friend though, he doesn't mean any harm."

I pursed my lips. "I don't think a friend is supposed to put you down like that. And why," I interjected before Deku could protest since he had opened his mouth. "Did he call you a quirkless nobody?"

He froze at that, attempting to formulate an answer. Before he could though, Uraraka clapped her hands together. "Oh, we're going to be late if this keeps up. I'll be on my way then. See ya later!" She waved at us before jogging to the entrance door.

I glanced at Yangchen beside me before speaking. "We should be on our way as well. Bye for now, Deku-kun."

As we turned to leave I could hear Deku stuttering. "I- Deku is not-it's not my name…"

Once he was out of earshot, Yangchen leaned into my ear. "Doesn't 'Deku' mean Useless in your language?"

I shrugged. "Yeah, it's probably a nickname."

"He seems like a nice kid." Yangchen leaned away, sighing.

"Yeah, agreed."

My mind kept wandering to those two. Their attitudes, however contrasting, reminded me of my younger self, before all the pain I went through, most of which I can't even recall for the life of me. It saddened me to think about it, but they were going to learn that the world wasn't such a nice place to live in as they had thought.

From what I'd heard, Yangchen had a somewhat rough life as well, but I wasn't privy to the details. She hadn't opened up to me yet because we've only known each other for half of a year. All I knew was that she was a Chinese exchange student and that her relationship with her parents was a bit strained.

I shook my head, attempting to physically disperse those thoughts. I was going to need to concentrate on this exam, especially since my Quirk was not that physical; I couldn't afford to have random thoughts distracting me.

We entered the building.

I ran through the roads turning into mud from the pouring rain. My hair was getting ruined after I had spent so much time caring for it, but I couldn't bring myself to care. My nightdress was torn and muddied in several places and tears were leaking out of my eyes.

He was still chasing me.

Why was he still chasing me? I'd been running for almost an hour; he wasn't supposed to have this much endurance.

Several times I nearly lost my grip on the three apples I had brought for food. I knew that if I lost even one I'd be hungry for a few days. If I had stayed with the vigilantes I would most definitely be used again. I didn't want to be used again! I was used to being the tough gangster, not the one who has to run.

The boy chasing me...he promised me so much. The day I joined. At the time it was one of the happiest in my life. Now it was the day I regretted the most.

Soon the telltale sign of footprints ceased and I allowed myself to stop and catch my breath, noticing I had absolutely no clue where I was. I looked around frantically while breathing heavily and clutching my apples.

This was spectacular. I'd have to start over my life yet again.

I was about to go find myself a small alley to sleep in when I was approached. The man had a black sweater and pants with a very long white scarf. His hair was almost as dirty and matted as mine and he wore a perpetually sleep expression on his face. No matter how unthreatening he looked, the fact of the matter didn't change.

He was a stranger.

I jumped back and stepped away while he curiously advanced until my back hit the wall. At this point I was close to hyperventilating. Eyes wide open, I watched as he held out a hand to me.

"You 'kay?"

"Kiraru. Kiraru? Kiraru!"

My head shot up, nearly hitting the seat beside me. Yangchen looked sufficiently annoyed. "How are you sleeping at a time like this? You'll never survive UA!"

Realizing what I had done, I groaned. "Did I fall asleep again?"

"You sure did."

I had a little...problem. Often, when I go to bed, I lie in anticipation of the next day. I stay up just planning and thinking and before I know it, it's dawn. I don't know if this is a form of insomnia or something else, but Aizawa-san has the same problem so when I can't sleep I go to him and we watch funny cat videos until morning if he doesn't have patrol.

Unluckily, I fell prey to this last night and I was utterly exhausted, though I tried to not show it.

I looked around, noting the absence of Present Mic and the shuffling of the students. "Did I miss the instructions?"

Yangchen huffed. "We're fighting giant robots."

It was as if a rock fell to the bottom of my stomach. "Say what now?"

Yangchen rested her weight on her arm propped against the table. She passed me a handout. "This shows the different kinds of robots and how much they're worth. There's robots that are worth one, two, and three points, and one that's worth nothing. The main goal is to get the most points in ten minutes. The robots get harder to beat as their point level goes up, though. For you, I'd suggest sticking to the one-pointers based on your quirk."

I nodded in agreement. "I have been working out though so I might be able to take some two pointers."

"Look, I'm not saying don't do that," Yangchen said. "But don't do that. Be careful, you can be physically crushed by these things."

I smirked at her. "When am I not?"

"Literally all the time."

"Don't worry, I'll come home in one piece."

"Oh really..." She grumbled under her breath. She pointed to four lists on the handout. "These show the breaking up of groups. I'm in Group B and you're in Group A. We have to report to the assigned field for each group."

I mock-saluted. "Roger that, captain!"

Yangchen just shook her head fondly. "I'm no captain."

My joking around couldn't displace the sinking feeling in my heart. It knew already that this was going to be an ordeal.

A few short minutes of running later, I was standing outside my assigned field. There were people talking, people just standing around, and people stretching.

I pulled off my biker gloves, stuffing them into my pocket, and started rubbing my hands, warming them up for using my quirk.

My quirk is called Flash Bang. The essential idea is that whenever I clap my hands, they emit a bright light that's brighter the harder I clap my hands, and the vibrations are gigantified so the clap sound is also much louder. Usually, it blinds and deafens people for about ten seconds. However, the vibrations make it hard to use and I get some recoil. Furthermore, my eyesight and hearing have been deteriorating for a while now. I use contacts like I use clothes and I would get hearing aids in the future.

As you can probably tell, it wasn't the best for fighting giant robots.

But I would manage. I always managed in the end. Someway or another.

All of a sudden, the gates opened.

I gaped as Present Mic shouted into the loudspeaker. "Your time starts now!"

While the others were still getting their bearings, I dashed through the doors. There was a mass of people behind me who had realized that if they stood around for much longer they would have a significant disadvantage.

Not even a minute later, I encountered my first robot.

I had thought that U.A was joking when I had heard that there were going to be giant robots, but these definitely lived up to my expectations.

Luckily this robot happened to be a one-pointer.

I had nothing to fight it with, so I let it charge me. At the last second, I dodged the foot and let it slam into the building behind me. All of a sudden, instead of dodging robots, I was dodging metal beams.

Once they had ceased falling, I examined the damage. Most of them were huge and would be too heavy to lift...but one of them was just a little smaller than the others.

It would have to do for now.

Groaning under the weight, I heaved it up to my shoulder. It would be hell running with this but I had no other choice. The robot had found its balance again and was headed towards me. Forcing my legs to move, I ran as fast as possible and used the momentum to crash the metal beam into the robot's leg, tearing through the thin metal sheet.

The robot started falling forward, and it was all I could do to keep from being crushed. Upon impact, the robot shattered.

Well, I thought as I wiped the sweat from my brow. That's one point at least.

And so I ran out of the alley into the main street where everyone was annihilating the rest of the robots. I had some semblance of a strategy, but I wasn't sure if it was going to work.

Once I saw a weakened robot, I would quickly strike it with my metal beam, destroying it and gaining the points. It was a bit cruel but it was the only way I could get points.

The problems arose when I had to decide between helping a guy in trouble and going for a robot. I usually went for the person in trouble because if I ignored them just to get more points, I wouldn't be any sort of hero other than a fake one.

I had gotten around 50 villain points when the zero-pointer appeared.

True, Yangchen warned me about this, but it still couldn't shake the sense of awe that came with looking at a robot three times the size of everything else, easily able to crush you with minimal effort.

For lack of a better phrase, this sucked.

There was no way I'd be able to destroy the monster without getting seriously injured. Fighting was out of the question.

I already had a bunch of villain points, so it would be alright if I ran around helping people instead. So I started running backwards-

Only to run into Deku. (Well, he said his name was Midoriya, so I'll call him that. And I didn't even realize we were in the same group!)

He grasped my arm in desperation. "Amano-san, over there!"

I followed his gaze-

And it felt like someone had poured a bucket of ice on my head.

Uraraka was trapped under a metal beam.

And the zero pointer was closing in.

Everyone was too busy fleeing the scene. Nobody gave the nauseous, trapped girl a second thought.

I met Midoriya's eyes. That was all communication we had before we dashed forward at the same time.

Midoriya went for the robot while I went to help Uraraka. "Can you use your quirk?"

She shook her head shakily.

I took a deep breath, forcing myself to forget about the aching in my muscles, and placed my hands under the beam. And I lifted.

This beam was considerably larger than the one I had been hauling around earlier, but I was somehow able to throw it to the side to free Uraraka.

Just as I did, I looked up to see Midoriya...flying.

His legs were broken, flapping uselessly, as he reared his hand back. With a battle cry, his fist made contact with the head of the robot.

The head exploded.

As Uraraka and I gaped along with the rest of the onlookers, Midoriya started falling.

His arm was now as broken as his legs.

He would have no chance of surviving if he hit the ground.

"Uraraka!" I turned to the brunette, who was visibly trying not to puke. "I know this may be asking for too much, but please use your quirk on him!"

It looked like she didn't need any encouragement. With a nod, she leaned her weight onto me and I directed her to where Midoriya would fall. Once Midoriya was at our eye level, Uraraka's hand shot out and slapped his face.

He didn't hit the ground.

I heaved a sigh of relief. Thank the holy mother of quirks.

After releasing her quirk, Uraraka promptly threw up. I turned my head and instead focused on Midoriya.

He was trying to get up. "Just...just one point…"

And he fell unconscious as horror flooded my entire being. He...didn't get a single point yet?

Just then, the loudspeakers crackled to life. "TIME'S UP!"

I had gotten 53 villain points in total. Uraraka's total was still unknown and Midoriya had gotten none.

I winced in sympathy. His quirk had so much recoil...maybe he was called quirkless earlier because he's always had to hide it? But why did he have such little control over it? Did he never see a quirk counselor?

"Out of my way! Coming through!" An elderly voice snapped me out of my musings as an old lady made her way through the mass of examinees.

I sighed yet again. Recovery Girl.

I had forgotten that U.A had such a competent nurse. Midoriya and Uraraka would be completely fine.

She kissed them both and loaded Midoriya on a stretcher, her helpers carrying him away. I only had a gash on my arm but no major injuries.

More importantly, I had to find Yangchen and Aizawa-san. I left after getting Uraraka's phone number, promising to text her as soon as I arrived home.

Only when I was safely walking with Yangchen later did I realize that I had forgotten to get Midoriya's contact information. I groaned in annoyance, making Yangchen very confused because I was talking with her animatedly not even a moment before.

"So, what have you got?"

"Basically, she got a very high score. She will make it into U.A."

"That's good. Oh, call Tomura; I need to have a chat with him."

"But Hiroto-"

"Shun, you realize that if I am to take them down, I need to maintain good relations with them? Shiggy and All for One believe we're on their side, but we haven't been since the beginning, which you know. But if they suspect anything, we're dead."

"That makes sense, even though I still want to not talk to him for a few days to mess around with him."

"We can't."

"I know. Hey, at least we have spies on both sides of the battle. Well, this whole group is a spy for the League of Villains, but still."

"Both? What about the heroes?"

"Whirlpool decided to keep an eye on the girl, so she took the entrance exam. She passed too."

"I see. So young, yet so talented…"

"Musco, we're the same age as them. You could have taken the test if you wanted to."

"Eh, vigilantism is more fun. Besides, if we didn't all make it in, I'd be separated from you guys."

"Fair enough. Oh, you want me to call Tomura now?"

"Please do. Imma play Minecraft and annoy him with a running commentary while I give my report."

"Pfft-"
