CHAPTER 39: FOREVER

One Hundred Years Later

Katsuro dreaded this meeting. Every year since he had turned sixteen, he and his twin Tomoe, were required to attend these ridiculous meetings. Their father had conquered the Northern and Southern lands some fifty years back, which by default, made him Emperor of Japan.

Kouga avoided war with Sesshomaru by surrendering with the condition that he keep his title has lord under his rule. Sesshomaru agreed without hesitation.

Sesshomaru had the help of his brother, Inuyasha, and Kai, his most trusted general. Of course Atreus helped command. Even the eldest of his children helped him conquer the opposing lands. He was proud of Katsuro and Tomoe for their skills in battle. He had taught them very well.

So here Katsuro sat with his brother, in this boring meeting that the lords and lady's of Japan demanded.

A lord, one of who's name Katsuro had forgotten, stood, slamming his hands down on the table. "I demand to see Sesshomaru!" Said lord shouted.

The Taisho brothers eyes narrowed at him, along with Kai. When Katsuro finally spoke, his voice was serious. "First of all..." He paused, catching the attention of everyone in the room. "My Father is Emperor. You will do well to remember that you cannot make demands of him. Second of all, he is with my mother along with two of my sisters and our family midwife."

The lord's expression turned to confusion. "Midwife?"

"Yes. My mother is in labor as we speak away for the western shiro. He is a progressive man and has been with my mother through all her births."

Suddenly, the entire shiro was engulfed with an extremely powerful aura. It was suffocating to most but everyone knew that the emperor had arrived.

The heavy wooden doors opened, revealing Sesshomaru's towering figure. When he spoke, his deep baritone voice was as intimidating. "Why is it I hear that I am being demanded to make an appearance upon my arrival?"

His sons smirked when said lord who did the demanding paled. Sesshomaru's eyes zeroed in on him, narrowing menacingly. A sneer followed. "You..." Sesshomaru appeared before him before anyone could blink, baring his elongated fangs mere centimeters from his face. "Give me a reason why I should not rip your throat out right now, Lord Kenshi? You know that I will never force my daughter into an arranged marriage. She wants nothing to do with you. You will remove yourself from my presence before I do."

Kenshi left without refute, not wanting to get himself into deeper trouble. Sesshomaru ordered Kai to keep an eye on him. He agreed, of course.

"Come my sons. You need to meet your new brother, Kisho." They followed him eagerly, effectively putting an end to the meeting.

Kisho was a Grey Inu with brown eyes and his grandmother's markings. He was beautiful but also the smallest of the fifteen children Sesshomaru and Kagome had over the past hundred years.

Kagome was asleep, exhausted from a very difficult birth. Sesshomaru spoke in hushed tones when he broke the silence. "Let your mother rest. Kisho was difficult for her to deliver and she lost a lot of blood. Do not fret. She will be fine." The twins relaxed, both kissing their mother on her forehead before making their way to their father.

Kisho was awake but very quiet, having already ate so Sesshomaru lifted him from his bassinet gently, mindful of his large claws. The twins waited patiently, having already done this several times.

Their father passed Kisho to Tomoe. Katsuro didn't like holding newborns for fear of hurting them. Especially when it came to his siblings. It wasn't because he didn't love them. He did, with all his heart and loved spending time with them. He was just scared of himself sometimes. He, along with Tomoe, we're mirror images of Sesshomaru. The differences in their eyes and personalities were the only ways to differentiate the three of them.

Tomoe held Kisho snuggly, turning to his older brother. They both smiled brightly and Katsuro leaned in close, nuzzling and purring to his baby brother.

Sesshomaru watched his eldest sons bond with their youngest brother. Pride filling his very being. "Father, may we take him to meet the others?" Tomoe asked quietly, looking up to his father. When he inclined his head, the twins smiled their thanks and left silently with a content Kisho cuddled into Tomoe's neck.

"You are a wonderful father, Sesshomaru." Kagome's sweet voice made his body tingle. He turned his head towards her tired form on their futon and gave her a small smile. She returned in kind with a much bigger one that made his heart take flight.

His feet were silent as he walked over to her, taking his haori and boots off once he did. Dressed in nothing but his hakama, he swiftly got into bed with her, pulling her gently flush against his imposing form.

She rested her head on his chest, listening to the soothing sound of his thundering heart and smiled. Her eyes fell shut once more, his arm around her back embracing her tighter while his opposite hand rested against her neck and jaw possessively.

"You, My Miko...Are my forever..." His hushed voice lulled her to sleep and he kissed her forehead, letting sleep take him as well.

"And I will love you..." Forever.
