"Oh man you got to try these" Rosalie eagerly opened her mouth to accept the food Isabella was holding out for her. After they had trained at the Cullen's house Isabella had told everyone that Rosalie needed complete concentration to actually be able to use her gift properly. When they had been out of earshot Isabella asked her if there was a mall with a food court near by and if they could go. After thinking Isabella wanted her to try to use her gift on humans and wanted to find a group of them she had led them to the mall. It wasn't until Isabella started to look over the many food offerings that Isabella explain that she wanted to try out this dimensions food. Rosalie had been confused until Isabella had handed her a vial of liquid called traleif she explained came from a dimension she had visited that allowed a vampire to be able to taste human food as if they were humans themselves without having to throw it up. The liquid mixed with a vampire's venom and broke the food down as they ingested it.
"What is that?" Rosalie had spend the last 3 hours sampling every food stall in the food court going for seconds many times.
"The guy called it an onion ring." Isabella told her. "I think I'm going to have to bring some onion plants home to see if I can grow them in my dimension. My Rosalie would love these."
It was always kind of weird when Isabella motioned her dimensions Rosalie." What is your Rosalie like?"
"She's amazing." Isabella smiled at the thought of her friend. "We have fought side by side many times over and there is no one I trust more than her. Other than my mate of course but she isn't part of the guard."
"Wait, your Rosalie is part of the Volturi?" Rosalie could not see herself as one of Aro's pets but she now realized that if he ever found out about her gift she would be sought after. Rosalie was happy that all those who knew about her gift had their minds shielded. Luckily Edward had yet to come back so he wouldn't know. She would have to be especially careful on how much she used her gift in front of others. If they thought she was weak then they wouldn't want to recruit her.
"My Rosalie and I do everything together." Isabella said. " She is really passionate about technology and anything to do with electronics. If I find something I think she hasn't seen before I try to bring it back for her."
"You can bring things to other dimensions." Isabella nodded. "Duh the vials. Can you take people with you or only objects?"
"I can't bring people with me or any other living things. Plant life excluded. I actually brought a pear tree to my dimension that flourished and now you can find them all over my world. As for non living things I have never brought anything back bigger than a car engine that my Rosalie focused on for over a month trying to figure out how it worked." Isabella chuckled at the memory. "It was rather funny watching her get so frustrated and have to be careful so she didn't break anything."
Rosalie perked up hearing this. "You could bring a car engine from a different dimension to any dimension you wished?"
"Of course. I just have to be holding anything I want to bring back with me and I can take it anywhere I want." Isabella motioned back to the food court. "Do you want anything else? I can feel the traleif wearing off."
"I think I'm good." Rosalie was kind of sad that this would be the only time she tried human food. Before she could ask Isabella if she had any extra vials of the liquid the woman handed her a leather pouch.
Seeing Rosalie's confusion Isabella explained. "I have some at home and if I run out I can always get more. Just don't use more than one vial every seventy two hours. If you use more it causes your need for blood to come on tenfold and you would possibly go on a killing rampage trying to get it under control. It isn't a pretty sight. Especially for animal drinkers."
"I will keep that in mind." Rosalie carefully tucked the pouch in the inside pocket of her jacket. She wasn't sure who she was going to share the vials with. It would make sense to give one to Carlisle for him to study but somehow she felt like it was insulting Isabella to treat her gift like a science experiment when it was obvious she gave it to Rosalie to make her happy.
"Ok so now that we are done with eating let's try out your gift on humans." Isabella motioned to a group of boys that were staring at them. "See those guys over there."
Rosalie scowled when she noticed the way the three boys were leering at them. "Yes,the way they are looking at us makes me want to punch them in the face."
"So why don't you?" Isabella asked.
"Isabella I can't punch a human in the face. It would kill them." Rosalie couldn't even believe the woman suggested it. Maybe everyone was right, maybe Isabella was crazy.
Isabella rolled her eyes. "If you did yes but if they did it to each other then they would only be hurt."
"Oh." Now Rosalie got it. Isabella wanted Rosalie to use her gift on the boys. "What should I do?"
"So you are going to have to go up to them alone so I don't distract them. When you get their attention tell them exactly what you want them to do. Just like we practiced." Isabella explained.
"I can do this."Rosalie took a deep breath as she stood up. She made her way over to the boys fighting to keep the sneer off her face as she noticed the way they all seemed to perk up when they saw her walk over.
Before Rosalie could even get to their table one of them was already out of his seat holding out his hand."Well hello. I'm Tom and you are?"
"Rosalie." Rosalie focused her energy on Tom and noticed his eyes slightly glaze over. Taking this as proof of her gift working she moved her eyes to the other two boys until their eyes glazed over as well. She leaned forward to be sure they weren't going to be overheard and whispered loud enough so the three boys could hear her and gave her command. "I want the three of you to beat each other until security comes and stops you."
"OK." Tom mumbled and then turned to one of his friends and punched him the face. Rosalie hurried away when she smelt the blood she saw coming from his broken looking nose. She looked over her shoulder as she made her way to Isabella's side and saw the boys in an all out brawl. The fury in which they were hitting and kicking each other surprised her and she didn't know if she should be proud of her gift or horrified the she was the cause of this.
Noticing Rosalie becoming uncomfortable with the blood Isabella reached into her pocket and handed Rosalie a plant leaf. "Here chew this. It will stop the blood lust."
Trusting Isabella Rosalie put the leaf in her mouth and chewed. Almost instantly the burning in her throat lessoned to a manageable level and she sighed in relief. "Thank you."
"It's no problem. Now we have to just wait to see if they stop when you told them to. If not you are going to have to use your gift again to calm them down." Isabella leaned against a wall as she and Rosalie watched as bystanders tried to break up the fight. She winced when a man got an elbow to the face while trying to restrain Tom.
Seeing security rushing towards the boys Rosalie held her breath waiting to see if her gift worked properly. She relaxed as if by magic the boys stopped fighting once the security guards pulled them apart. She looked towards Isabella in awe. "It worked."
"Of course it worked." Isabella smiled at proudly at Rosalie. "If you think this is amazing just wait until you use it on a vampire. Once you give them a command nothing can stop them from doing it unless they die. It doesn't matter what gift is used, yours will never be overridden."
"Jesus." Rosalie was now understanding how powerful she really was. If she could command vampires to do as she just did with the humans she could cause chaos in a battle. Even though she was weary of having such power she was happy that if she ever needed to protect her family she could."Could I use it on the wolves?"
"Shifters are the easiest for you to use it on. With it you could control that pack of puppies we just met up with easier than what you did with those humans. All you have to do is get one of them under your influence and their pack mind link gives you control over all them, even ones that are far away from you." Isabella told her.
"You said before I could use my gift on other supernaturals as well. What did you mean?" Rosalie asked. She was now excited by the fact that she could take on the whole pack of wolves by herself. She wouldn't let anyone know that though. She decided to keep that to herself so it would be a surprise if she ever needed to use it.
"Well it depends on what supernatural beings exist in this dimension. They vary from dimension to dimension." Isabella explained. "I have yet to encounter a Rosalie that hasn't been able to use her gift on any she has come in contact with no matter what dimension. There is one that seems to exist everywhere though and that's werewolves. Those you can control pretty easily. Not as easily as the shifters but if you got the attention of the alpha then you can have him give a command to his pack and they would have to obey even though they were of mind to fight it."
"Holy fuck!" Rosalie exclaimed. Noticing the stares at her outburst she lowered her voice. "You are saying if I faced a pack of children of the moon by myself I actually had a chance to come out of it alive."
"Now you see why I made the daggers for my Rosalie. It makes it so she can go against anything and quickly take out her enemy so she can move on to the next." Isabella said.
"Do you think you could make me some daggers to? Or maybe even a sword?" Rosalie asked. Now that she was understanding her gift she realized how important it was to be able to take out her opponent quickly if she were faced with a large force.
Isabella thought about that. She knew it wouldn't take two months for her to make another sword now that she got the trial and error already done with but she wasn't sure if she was going to come back to this dimension. She didn't want to make any promises to Rosalie. "I think I can do that for you but I don't know if or when I will be back here. I really don't like to leave my mate that often. This time I got pulled here without warning because Edward was on the verge of killing me soon. The next time I can come when I want, although time does work different when I travel."
"I don't want you to have to go out of your way. I just want to have a way to protect my family if it comes to that." Rosalie did feel bad asking. She didn't want to take advantage of Isabella's kindness and her obvious feelings about her Rosalie. She just couldn't help herself though. Rosalie wasn't a warrior. She would need every advantage she could get if it ever came to a fight.
Looking at Rosalie Isabella felt her reluctance crumble. "Alright, since you just figured out your gift I will make you some daggers. A sword would be to bulky for you to swing while you are using her gift so daggers are the better option."
"Thank you." Rosalie pulled Isabella into a hug surprising herself at the show of affection. She pulled back sheepishly but was reassured by Isabella's bright smile.
"Don't thank me yet." Isabella warned. "I don't have the time to stay and teach you how to use them. You will have to train on your own or get someone else to train you."
Rosalie was already running through ideas on how to go about getting a good teacher. Unfortunately the number one person on the list was Kate. "I will do my best. Thank you for doing this."
"As I have learned many times before and what my Rosalie likes to rub in my mate's face is the fact that no matter what dimension I can never say no to you." Isabella sighed as she looked around. The boys had been escorted out by the police and everything had been cleaned up. "Let's get out of here. I need to see if Maggie showed up and if there is any lead on Garrett."
"I really wish you didn't have to go." Rosalie admitted shyly. She was really enjoying Isabella's company and felt bonded to the woman. Rosalie couldn't remember the last time she had laughed so much or had as much fun. Even around her family she was reserved and only let her guard down with Emmett. Isabella on the other hand had broken down Rosalie's walls right away and Rosalie had laughed more since Isabella had shown up than she had in all her years alive it felt like.
"That's always the sad part of these trips. I meet different versions of people I know and form new bonds with them. I think if I didn't have my mate or my Rosalie I would probably just continue to travel back to the many dimensions I traveled visiting the new friends I made." Isabella sighed. "I like it here with you but I miss my Tanya. It hurts seeing a version of her in front of me and knowing it isn't my actual mate. It's easier with you because I can be your friend and don't have to feel the sadness that comes with being away from my mate. My version of you gets a kick out of learning all about her other selves. That encourages me to befriend each of you."
Rosalie never thought about it like that. She couldn't imagine seeing a version of a Emmett that although she didn't feel the pull towards that would be a physical reminder of being separated from her mate. As she walked with Isabella towards the tree line so the could run back to the Cullen's home she found her respect for the other woman grow. Isabella held a burden that although romantic must be so hard. Constantly seeing your mate with someone that isn't you. Rosalie knew she could never do it herself. She wasn't strong enough.
