Rick had suggested a midnight swim in the heated pool since he thought it should be warm enough by then. It had been over 12 hours since he had turned on the heater.

He had changed first in a different bedroom and was gone since she could hear the door open and close. Not she needed to change. She found a short robe in one of the bedrooms and was wearing it down to the pool.

Rick looked serious. "I don't cheat, Kate. I know first hand the cost of that."

"Meredith. I don't understand her. Alexis deserves better. I don't cheat, Castle. If we're going to do this we're going to be exclusive. You so much as kiss another woman and I'll make you pay." She had two animals out there somewhere to prove it.

"Good." Kate kissed his neck. "I do have a problem that needs to be solved. "I don't think that will be a problem. You forget the mayor's a fan. Besides I don't work for the NYPD. I'm an unpaid consultant. I don't have any medical benefits and I don't even get to work the case with you until you call me. I'm your partner only because one of us thinks that," Rick pointed out.

"You're definitely my partner, Castle, and I'm keeping you." Kate kissed his neck again. "Now go to sleep. I need rest." She closed her eyes and tried to shut down her mind and go to sleep while breathing in his scent. He had a really nice scent.

Kate realized Castle was missing when she woke up but he hadn't been gone long since his side of the bed was warm. She was presently in the bathroom – still naked – brushing her teeth when Castle walked in to join her. He, however, was wearing shorts.

I know you've talked with Alexis and that's great. She likes you, so that's good. All you have to do is not lie to me and we're good."

"I'll try, Castle, I promise to try." Kate wasn't sure she could tell the truth all the time. Besides, she had to keep the fact that she was a witch a secret.
