Kate was just finishing reading the chapters that Castle had written while she'd been gone. As usual she had added a few Post-it Notes. She even found that he had addressed at least a few of the previous Post-it Notes from the last time so she was happy.

"So before you're showing or after you give birth and feel up to it," Rick asked.

"I don't have a problem adopting my own child. Do you have a type of ring choice?" Rick asked since he was going to need one of those when he got down on one knee.

"You'll laugh," Kate warned him.

Rick shook his head. "I doubt that very seriously."

"All right, I don't want a diamond or any other type of stone. Nothing antique with a huge 3 caret stone in the middle. Maybe teeny tiny ones set into the ring itself.

"It can be ornate in some way just so long as it's smooth. I don't want a reason to have to ever take it off. Like when I put on gloves at work at a dead body site or whatever. I want everyone to know I'm married even while wearing gloves. Some big stone would just rip them open.

Rick bowed and presented the glass to her. "One pineapple smoothie for the pregnant lady. I have Popsicles, too, don't forget."

"How was your trip, ma'am?" She had her old driver back. The owner of the company.

"Good to hear. Mr. Castle is a good man with a big heart." He knew that first hand.

"Indeed he is," Kate agreed.

Rick wasn't sure he would find the kind of ring Kate wanted in the city. It sounded too handmade to him. No large gems and yet unique which to him meant a one off. No other ring like it. That told him none of the big jewelry stores in the city were going to have anything like that. They were all about standard rings, some with large stones, or a whole lot of stones. She had given him a challenge. It was a good thing he loved a challenge.

Rick was thinking he liked a challenge. After spending the last 30 minutes trying to find a ring he had just one so far. It was a 1.00 carat channel diamond ring. The little diamonds were set into a grooved channel so none of them extended out beyond the channel of the ring.

It was available in yellow gold, white gold, rose gold, and platinum. $1,300 to $1,700 dollars seemed just too cheap for Kate to wear. She deserved better. Still he kept it for now and kept looking.

Next he found a Kona wood inlaid White Gold ring Wave Ring. Chasing Victory at $1,049. It was truly unique. It had Kona wood in it! But just $1,049 dollars? He kept it and kept looking.

Then he found another one. Queen Anne Hawaiian Diamond ring. 1.0 carat total. It had two rows of little diamonds set into a channel so it was smooth. Between the two rows of diamonds there were leaves engraved into the metal. Yellow gold, white gold, or rose gold. From $3,852 to $4,280. Now that was a price he thought said Kate. In addition he could order it engraved on the inside.

"Great, now what do I want it to say?" All right, he had a ring now he just needed to figure out what he wanted it to say.

After pressing ENTER he saw his order and a copy in his email account. He wondered just how many chapters, if any, he would have finished when she came back.

Was she teasing him about whipping his ass? Somehow he doubted it. So that left him thinking about just how much writing he wanted to have finished when she got here.

"I am so dead." Rick didn't believe he was doing this.
