AN: Hey guys. So I was just in disbelief over the beef between the actors who play Kol and Enzo. I'm disappointed in Nate but I gained so much respect for Michael who is extremely empathetic and passionate. Anyhoo...enjoy

"You would think that after all the murders and the supernatural bullshit that has been plaguing this town that Damon would learn to keep this place a little more secure," Matt snorted as he and Jeremy made their way into the Boarding House. It was nearing midnight and while most people would have been home preparing to crash, Damon was nowhere to be found. Matt figured that he was still out with Enzo probably feasting on a buffet of sorority girls with no care in the world. The thought made Matt roll his eyes as he closed the door behind them. If Damon and Stefan didn't mean so much to people like Elena, Caroline and Bonnie, he would actually have no problem with helping the counsel taking them down. Lord knows, there would far less killings and unexplainable crap that he would be forced to cover up.
"When Damon is on a mission to get laid, he's only thinking about putting his key in some chick's lock," Jeremy said causing Donovan's face to shrivel up in disgust.
"Gross," he muttered not wanting the image of Damon humping someone lodged in his brain.
"I thought they were keeping Elena's body in a warehouse in Brooklyn. Why did they relocate her back to Mystic Falls?" Jeremy asked confused as he walked side by side with his friend as they made their way up the stairs.
"Long story short, Stefan broke into the warehouse and kidnapped Elena so that he could trade her for Enzo's freedom after he had been kidnapped by Sybil. Obviously it was no longer safe for Elena to remain away from Damon, so he had her secured here," Matt informed as the walked down the long hallway searching for the guest bedroom that held Elena asleep in her mahogany polished coffin.
"I'm so glad that I got the hell out of this town. I just wish that Elena could have escaped before Kai put her under that stupid sleeping spell." Pause. "Do you ever think about leaving and starting over somewhere that hasn't been tainted by vampires with the last name Salvatore?" Jeremy inquired as he abandoned one guest bedroom and began to search the one adjacent from Damon's sleeping quarters.
"Yeah, but Mystic Falls is my home and if I am not here to protect it, who will?" Matt asked as he briefly snooped around in Stefan's bedroom. The place was a pigsty.
"I see you are determined to live out your dream of being Walker Texas Ranger," Jeremy snickered.
"Man screw you. Chuck Norris is cool," Matt laughed defensively.
Gilbert made a face. "He is ninety. He stopped being cool a long time ago."
"Your shitty opinions on pop culture is the exact reason why I don't face time you or text you anymore," Matt grinned.
"Whatever," Jeremy said rolling his eyes before smiling as he entered the last room in the hallway, "I found her."
Jeremy frowned deeply as he looked around. "Why would Damon just leave her out in the open?"
Matt walked over to the coffin and gently lifted Elena's hand revealing a bracelet.
"Bonnie got this off of Sybil. Apparently, it's was some relic that protects her from anyone who means her harm. Bonnie also put her own personal ward over the house just to amp up the security," the former quarterback explained.
Jeremy smiled briefly at the mention of his ex girlfriend.
"Bonnie has always gone above and beyond to protect her. If it wasn't for her, Elena would have probably been taken from us a long time ago," Jeremy said somberly.
Matt nodded quietly in agreement.
Dropping to a knee, Jeremy dug around in his bag before retrieving a syringe. Rising back to full height he walked over to the former quarterback and handed it to him.
"So you just walk around carrying syringes on you?" Matt asked smirking.
"Yes. It's practically a must have instrument in a Hunter's tool kit if you have to inject vervain or wolfbane into some vampire or werewolf you don't actually want to kill." He explained. "That's for you to use in case Tiffany doesn't want to cooperate."
"Are you really sure that you want to do this? There is no going back once we do this," Matt warned as he placed the syringe inside his jacket pocket.
"Damon has been responsible for wreaking havoc on so many lives since he stepped foot in Mystic Falls. Tiffany is just his latest victim and fortunately we can help her by giving her the cure. I hate that we might have to do it against her will, but If it comes out that Damon turned the daughter of the Mayor into a vampire, all hell is going to break loose and innocent people are going to get caught in the crossfire. I can't let that happen," he said his brown eyes flashing with determination, "I won't."
"Rodger that," Matt relented.
Satisfied that his friend was completely on board, Jeremy moved closer to the coffin to retrieve the cure from Elena's veins.
"Do you mind giving me a second alone?" Jeremy asked softly with eyes trained on the comatose doppelganger.
Matt could see from from Jeremy's pained expression that he had some stuff to get off his chest and his heart broke for his friend. Matt had loved Elena once so he couldn't imagine what Jeremy felt seeing her and not being able to connect with her in the ways that actually mattered.
"Sure, bro. Take your time," he said clapping him on his shoulder before leaving Jeremy alone in the room.
He reached down and stroked her hair tenderly as a sad smile graced his face. He would give almost anything to see her open her eyes and hear her voice again. Despite the fact that they were cousins rather than siblings, he still regarded her as a sister and his last remaining family member.
"God, have no idea how much I miss you," he whispered feeling the corner of his eyes burn with tears.
For a long time he had felt so much guilt over the fact that he had left Mystic Falls to live a normal life while Elena was stuck in a magical coma unable to wake up until Bonnie died. He tried his hardest not to be happy. For a long time he had become a recluse not wanting to build and form relationship with anyone after everything that had happened. He had been content with being alone but that all changed when the love of his life had came into the picture.
Kimberly was this beautiful, grey eyed beauty who was a tattoo artist that walked to the beat of her own drum and had entered his life like an force of nature. She was artistically gifted and the darkest part of her twisted sense of humor. He loved her because she was normal and he knew that he would never have to worry about losing her at the hands of some supernatural creature with a murderous agenda or losing her to death because she was willing to sacrifice herself for everyone and everything around her. If he would be honest, he would admit that Kimberly was quite selfish. If something didn't benefit her or satisfied her own needs, she wasn't willing to give it any of her energy. At first that self absorbed attitude had turned Jeremy off. He had spent his life surrounded by women who were people pleaser's and selfless. In the end, he realized that she was exactly what he needed. He would never have to worry about her being an anchor to some supernatural purgatory or having her trapped in a Prison World where he couldn't reach her.
He knew that it was wrong, but a small part of him resented falling in love with Bonnie. He knew it was terrible given the fact that she had done so much to keep him alive and safe, but because of what and who she was, they never really had the chance to have a normal relationship. Now that he was learning what it was like to date and love a woman who wasn't involved in the supernatural horror show that was once his life, he planned to make the best of it and had no plans of turning back.
"I'm happy, Elena. I just wanted you to know that and I'm going to make sure that Damon is safe so that when you wake up, you will be happy too," he murmured as he gently stuck the syringe into her vein and withdrew her blood.
For a moment, Jeremy thought he could see the ghost of a smile form on her lips, but before he could look closer, he heard Matt shouting.
"Uh, Jer? You need to get down here? Now!"
Jeremy felt his spine stiffen as he stuck the syringe into a small black case before depositing into his bag. Leaning down, he gave Elena one last chaste kiss on the forehead before leaving the room. When he arrived down in the basement he found Matt standing in front of the cell with a disturbed look on his face. Jeremy was about to ask him what was wrong when he realized the cell door was open and the newbie vampire that they had been planning to give the cure was nowhere to be found.
This was bad. This was really fucking bad.

What's love got to do, got to do with it?
What's love but a second-hand emotion?
What's love got to do, got to do with it?
Who needs a heart when a heart can be broken?
Maybe letting Enzo have the third bottle of Bourbon and feed off several pretty co-eds haven't been such a good idea because at that moment his booze and blood drunk friend was sitting in the passenger seat singing brokenly while starring down at his phone which held a picture of a smiling and beautiful picture of Bonnie Bennett. Seeing Jeremy had really triggered Enzo and he had spent the majority of the night trying to escape his guilt, anger and shame by leaning into his needs as a vampire and a broken hearted man. He tried to numb the pain but no matter how far down into the bottle he fell or how pretty the girl who veins he tapped hungrily, he couldn't escape the hollow feeling inside of his chest that once filled from Bonnie's love.
"I think Miss Turner had a point," Enzo slurred as he took another swig out of the nearly empty bottle of Bourbon in his hand. "What's the use of having a heart when the love of your life can just stomp on it and crush it to pieces?"
The two drunk vampires was speeding down a dark road heading towards Enzo's safe house and Damon was praying to whatever god that would bother to listen that Enzo did not throw up in his precious car..
Damon glanced at the angst filled vampire who was currently scrolling through the playlist on his phone. "Do I want to know why you have this song on your playlist? You can't call yourself a badass vampire and listen to Tina Turner."
"Mind your tongue, mate. Tina Turner is the queen of rock and roll. That title in itself is very bad ass," he slurred and smiled fondly as he dropped his head back against the head rest, "Besides, Bonnie loves her. She loves to sing oldies when she is happy."
Damon knew this as well first hand. He recalled his time in the prison world when Bonnie had loved to hum "Ain't no Mountain high enough" whenever she was in a good mood. "I'm just glad that I no longer have to be tortured by her singing."
"Bonnie has the voice of an angel," Enzo confessed with a heavy sigh.
"Yeah, if that angel was tone deaf and screechy," Damon snarked.
Minutes later, Damon arrived at Enzo's safe house and killed the engine to the car.
"Come on. Let's get you inside."
Damon helped the stumbling vampire up the steps of the porch and into the house which was dark and musty.
"When's the last time you been here?" Damon asked wrinkling his nose as he searched for the light switch.
"After Bonnie dumped me, I couldn't bring myself to come back here," he mumbled as he flopped down on his couch. "This was the first place we kiss and this..." he gestured towards the abandoned seat next to him, "Was the first place that we made love."
"I guess that means I will remain standing," Damon said trying not to look disgusted.
"I love her, Damon. I loved her and I fucked up," he said his voice cracking as if he was on the verge of tears.
Damon really felt bad for his friend. He knew all too well what it was like to have a broken heart and he wouldn't wish that feeling on his worst enemy. Well...maybe Klaus, but he couldn't think of a single person who would be stupid or desperate enough to fall in love with that Original psychopath.
"I'm not going to stand here and tell you that everything is going to work itself out, because there is a good chance that it won't." Seeing the dejected look on Enzo's face caused Damon to continue quickly. "But Bonnie will eventually forgive you because that is just who she is. She may not ever trust you again, but she always forgives the people that she loves. Even when we don't deserve it."
Enzo opened his mouth to say something but he stopped short when his stomach lurch. Using his vampire agility, Damon sped over to the trashcan and placed it in front of the nauseated vampire who began vomiting violently. Not wanting to stay around for the show, Damon squeezed Enzo's shoulder sympathetically.
"Sleep it off, bud. I'll check on you in the morning," he said before disappearing out of the front door.
Twenty minutes later he pulled up to the Boarding House and found himself frowning deeply as he spotted a familiar truck parked outside of his house.
What the hell was Donovan doing at his house this late?
Storming into the house, his ears perked up at the sound of two heartbeats coming from his basement and he was in the room in the matter of seconds. He felt his jaw tighten as his eyes went from the two nervous humans huddled together in a corner next to the empty cell.
"Where the hell is the girl?" he demanded coldly.
A curtain of tension fell over the small room causing the two humans to shift nervously and the vampire's jaw to clench tightly.
"She was gone when we got here," Matt said defensively.
"That's not possible," Damon started.
"Did you make sure that she was actually locked and secured in her cell before you left?" Jeremy asked frowning with his arms folded across his chest.
Damon stopped pacing and glared at Jeremy as if he had just asked the most dumbest question in the world.
"Of course I locked her cell. I've kidnapped plenty of people. I'm not an amateur ," he scoffed.
"Only you can brag about committing felonies as if it was the most normal thing in the world," Matt sighed rolling his eyes.
Damon flashed a smile that was anything but friendly.
"Maybe this isn't such a bad thing," the vampire stated licking his lips slowly.
"How is the mayor daughter running loose as a vampire not a bad thing?" Jeremy asked confused.
"Think about it," Damon drawled as if he was speaking to a small child, "Tiffany is a vampire without a daylight ring. The sun comes up in less than a couple of hours and if she isn't in some dark and shady place, she will go...poof and our problem will literally go up in flames."
Matt blinked owlishly and Jeremy shook his head wearily.
"What?" the vampire asked defensively.
"Tiffany is an innocent girl. She doesn't deserve to die just because her existence is an inconvenience to you," Matt snapped angrily
"I don't get it, Damon. If you think Tiffany is better off being dead, why were you keeping her a prisoner down here in the first place? Why didn't you just kill her?" Jeremy demanded.
"Because murdering her would have made Bon Bon hate me and I can't afford to be on her bad side right now," he grumbled rolling his eyes.
"It's nice to see that Bonnie is keeping you on a tight leash," Matt sneered.
Before Jeremy could blink, Damon had him by the throat and had him in the air with his legs dangling a feet off the ground. Matt gasped and clawed at Damon's leather clad arm, but Damon was unrelenting.
"We seriously don't have time for this. Damon let him go," Jeremy groaned exasperated.
Damon eyes narrowed and waited until Matt's face turn a darker shade of red before he reluctantly dropped the human who massaged his throat while glowering hatefully at the vampire.
"Are you alright?" Jeremy asked starring at Matt with concern.
"I'm fine," he spat clenching his fingers into tight fists.
"Instead of fighting, we need to go out and look for Tiffany," Jeremy said stiffly with his hands planted on his hips, "Once we find her, we are going to help her. We are not going to kill her."
"How are we suppose to help her?" Damon asked sounding bored.
"I have a plan," Jeremy hedged slowly.
Damon snapped his fingers repeatedly feeling impatient. "Spit it out. I'm not getting any older."
"After we track her down, we can make it where she is no longer a vampire," he explained carefully.
"And how do you suppose we go about getting Tiffany to go from being a blood enthusiast and back to being a human?" Damon inquired folding his arms across his chest.
"The cure."
The look on Damon's face was almost comical. "Um...come again?"
"If we give Tiffany the cure, she will be human and that will eliminate the current threat that we are facing. Matt and I discussed this and we decided that this would be the best option."
"What do you mean that you and Matt discussed this? The cure doesn't belong to you. It belongs to Elena and in case you have forgotten, she isn't conscious so therefore she can't consent to giving it away," Damon growled.
"If Elena was awake, this is what she would want," Jeremy argued.
"You want me to give up the cure and potentially my future with Elena just so that Tiffany Sharp can become human again? When did you go from smoking weed to smoking crack?" he snorted.
"Damon, I'm serious," Jeremy insisted.
"So am I," he said jabbing his index finger inches away from Jeremy's face. "I'm not going to give up something so precious to keep some brat human. I already sacrificed enough when it comes to Elena. I won't sacrifice that."
Jeremy knew that arguing with Damon was pointless so he decided to try another tactic.
"You mean how you so selflessly sacrificed your happily ever after so Bonnie could actually live a life that she deserves? That wasn't a sacrifice, Damon. That was just you making the score even. After all the times Bonnie had saved your ass, the very least you could do was to chose her. I know that was hard given the fact that you don't really care for women that you can't manipulate into getting into bed with you."
This was the second time that his friendship with Bonnie was thrown in his face in a negative way and Damon was suddenly getting the urge to kill.
"Watch it," he breathed hotly as he moved closer to Jeremy.
A look of suspicion suddenly flashed across his handsome face.
"I smell her blood," he said with a murderous edge in his voice, "Why do I smell Elena's blood?"
Jeremy gave a look to Matt who subconsciously clutched the syringe in his pocket as he stared between the stoic hunter and the fickle vampire.
"Because I already took the cure from Elena and I am going to give it to Tiffany. There is nothing that you can do to stop me," he said boldly.
"Is that right?" Damon sneered.
Jeremy braced himself for the attack that he knew was coming. As Damon lunged towards him, Jeremy moved out of the way at the last possible second and darted behind the fuming vampire. As Damon turned towards him, Jeremy through a right hook which caused blood to come spurting from Damon's split lip.
Fury danced in his methane blue eyes as he tackled Jeremy to the floor and slammed his fist into his face causing Jeremy to briefly see stars doing the tango behind his eyelids. Damon was about to hit him again when a needle filled with vervain was plunged into the left side of his neck causing his entire body to burn with pain before he passed out.
It wasn't' that often that Matt manage to get the jump on Damon Salvatore, but he decided he would gloat over the fact later and focused helping his friend off the floor.
"You do realize that provoking Damon was insane, right?" Matt exclaimed as he watched Jeremy massage his jaw . "He could have killed you!"
Rolling his eyes, Jeremy said, "Yeah and if he would have killed me, Elena would have never forgiven him. Damon is impulsive, but he isn't stupid."
"What are we going to do with him? There is a good chance that Tiffany is going to out Damon as a vampire. As much as I can't stand the prick, we can't leave him here defenseless," Matt sighed heavily.
"I know a place where we can stash him so that he will be safe and out of the way," Jeremy promised as he lifted Damon and draped him over his shoulder. "You should go and do surveillance on the mayor's house. If you need me, I'll be at the Lakehouse."

Barefooted and soaking wet, Kol Michaelson made his way down the dark cobblestone streets clutching an unconscious Bennett witch tightly in his arms. He was grateful for the fact that he had been able to use a cloaking spell to hide their presence from prying eyes because him carrying a naked woman who had blood coated on her ears and upper lip in public at the time of night would have created quite the spectacle. He had attempted to perform a healing spell on Bonnie back at the beach, but whatever magical force that had attacked her was blocking his magic. He was both annoyed and concerned that there was someone out there who had magic that could rival and possibly surpass his own.
As he crossed the street and headed towards the room and board that Bonnie and Stefan were currently staying in, he was so focused on getting her inside that he didn't notice the broken wine bottle near the curb and he growled in pain as he felt a piece of the green glass lodge into the heel of his foot. Ignoring the pain, he limped towards the door and nearly snatched it off its hinges as he made his way into the house.
Because she was dripping wet due from their impromptu swim in the ocean, Kol opted for placing her on the couch instead of her bed for the time being. His eyes moved from her face and briefly landed on her body. For such a small and petite woman, she manage to have curves in all the right places. Feeling his lower half began to stir, he diverted his eyes and briefly left her side. He disappeared into the bedroom and returned seconds later with a blanket to drape over the nude witch. You could call Kol a lot of things, but at the end of the day, he respected witches and he was noble enough to preserve Bonnie's dignity while she was incapacitated. As he stared down at her with a wry smile on his lips, he absently guided his hand across her hair and brushed the sand out of her hair.
The sound of a low and warning growl drew Kol's attention away from Bonnie and towards the Salvatore mutt who looked like he was ready to tear him apart at any given moment. Sparring a bored look at the Stefan who was sitting by the couch with an ugly snarl on his face, he fought the urge to crush the canine's skull beneath his boot. It would be so much easier to get closer to Bonnie without Stefan being an obstacle, but he realize that killing him would do more harm than good and Bonnie would probably skin him alive. As he weighed his options he realized that Stefan was more useful alive than dead. Bonnie was already going to be freaked out when she woke up and discovered that he had fooled her into believing he was the Salvatore vampire for an entire evening. The last thing he wanted to do was to fuel that anger by her finding Stefan in the form of a four legged creature.
He sighed. "I suppose the little witch would appreciate seeing a friendly face once she wakes up."
Rubbing his hands together, he clenched his jaw before extending his arms allowing his palms to hover over the dog's head. Mumbling softly in Latin, he narrowed his eyes as he watched Stefan shifted from the dirty gray four legged creature back into a very pissed off vampire.
Being naked and on all fours in front of an Original was high on the list of moments Stefan had found completely and utterly emasculating and he was grateful that Damon wasn't there to see him in that position because his brother would have never let him live it down. Making his way to his feet, Stefan snatched down one of the curtains hanging over the window and wrapped it around his waist so that he could preserve the little dignity that he did have left.
As Stefan stared down at Bonnie lying motionless on the small couch, he inhaled sharply. The fact that she had almost died and he had been absolutely powerless to stop it made seethe with anger and frustration. The whole reason for him being there on the mission with her was to protect her, but so far he had been doing a piss poor job of that and that was all thanks to Kol fucking Michaelson. Clenching his jaw, he looked over at Kol who was squatting next to Bonnie. He was stroking her hair gently with a look of fondness and concern on his face and it made Stefan's stomach lurch.
"How in the hell could you let this happen?" Stefan said through clenched teeth.
Kol frowned. "I beg your pardon?"
"Bonnie is hurt because you didn't do enough to protect her," he said viciously.
"How was I suppose to know that some magical force would use quicksand to snuff the little witch out?" he asked defensively.
"Maybe if you weren't too busy trying to get your dick wet, you would have sensed that she was in danger," he sneered.
Kol's eyes darkened noticeably. "I understand that seeing your friend in this state is quite upsetting, but you would do well to mind your language. After all, there is a lady present."
As he said this, he reached down and gently dragged his knuckles across the apple of her cheek. He couldn't help touching her. She was so soft.
Stefan flashed over to him and grabbed his wrist pulling him away from Bonnie before placing himself between the Original and the unconscious witch.
Kol eyes were cold and hard. "Touch me again and I promise you that you will regret it."
"Really, Kol?" Stefan breathed defiantly, "We both know that you won't kill me."
"You think that just because my brother fancies you that I would spare your life?" Kol inquired deeply amused. "You really underestimate how little I care if Klaus would mourn the loss of his...beau."
Kol's statement made something inside of Stefan snapped. Feeling anger and humiliation mingle into one big ball of fury, he stepped back before punching Kol square in the jaw. The Original stumbled back as blood exploded from his mouth. He touched his mouth gingerly before starring at Stefan and chuckling darkly. Before Stefan could orchestrate another attack, Kol flew towards him and grabbed him by the throat and lifted him in the air before choke slamming him onto the floor causing the room fill with a sickening cracking sound as his skull made impact on the ground. As Kol's fist repeatedly slammed into Stefan's face, the younger vampire realized that he may have bitten off more than he could chew when he had blindly attacked the Original, but he was too proud and stubborn to ever admit it out loud.
Kol was about to snap the younger vampire's neck when he felt himself being thrown across the room by an invisible force.
Feeling more startled than hurt, he scrambled to his feet bracing himself for another attack when he spotted Bonnie sitting on the couch with her hand stretched out towards him. The look on her face showed that she was not happy.
"Hello, little witch."
"Kol," she responded neutrally as she slowly got off the couch clutching the blanket tightly around her as she slowly backed away from him.
"I'm not here to hurt you," he promised sincerely.
"I don't believe you and don't call me love," she said coldly before brushing past him and helping Stefan off the floor.
"Are you alright? Did he hurt you?" Bonnie murmured as she rested her hand on his bare chest.
Seeing the Bennett witch coddling the big bad Ripper made Kol's left eye twitch slightly and he knew he had to remove him from the scene before he gave into his baser instinct and removed Stefan's head from his shoulders. Forcing a smile, he slowly made his way over to the pair and locked eyes with Stefan who was looking at him with soul shivering hatred.
The Original said, "Go in the other room and get dress and give me and the little witch some privacy."
Bonnie fumed as she watched Stefan disappear from the living room under Kol's compulsion. The last thing that she wanted was to be alone with the Original, but she knew that given her current circumstances, she didn't really have a choice in the matter.
"Give me one good reason why I shouldn't stake you in the face," she asked through clenched teeth.
"We both know that a regular stake can't kill me and if you make a move against me I will go into the next room and compel the almighty ripper to shove his hand into his chest and rip out his own heart."
"You do that and I will make everything Klaus ever did to you look like child's play," she breathed angrily as she pressed her hand against his chest and slowly backed him across the room until his back hit the wall, "I may not be able to kill you, but I will turn your heart to stone, I will break every bone in your body, I will calcify you and then I will drop you into the bottom of the ocean where you will spend all of eternity rotting away underneath some barnacles who will use your crevices as their forever home. If you even look at Stefan the wrong way, I promise you will suffer a fate far worse than death at my hands."
"It would seem that I gravely underestimated the affection you have for my brother's protégée," he smirked.
"It's not affection that is making me want to keep Stefan safe. It's the fact that I don't want my best friend to spend the rest of his life without his brother,"
"Family is so overrated," he grumbled rolling his eyes.
"It tends to be when your family consists of immortal psychopaths," Bonnie said sweetly.
Kol laughed genuinely amused. "Fair enough. So if I agree not to kill Stefan, you must agree to here me out. Do we have an accord?"
Bonnie studied him quietly as she began to weigh her options. Despite her being powerful in her own right, it was clear that Kol's magic was superior to hers in anyway. She could attempt to force him to back off, but she knew that in the end she would just be wasting precious energy and time, plus she couldn't exactly play fast in loose with Stefan's life by challenging Kol, so her choice was pretty clear.
"I can practically see the wheels turning in that pretty head of yours, little witch," Kol grinned playfully tapping her on the tip of her nose causing Bonnie to scowl, "Why don't you go get cleaned up and I will tell you everything you want to know.
Five minutes later, Bonnie returned back to the living room with her hair tied up in a messy bun and a scowl on her face. Despite her black tank top and grey shorts being a far cry from the gorgeous white dress that she had wore earlier that night, Kol still found her incredibly stunning.
As Bonnie glowered up at him, he couldn't help but focus his gaze on her mouth which was pursed tightly showing further signs of her annoyance and dislike towards him. Moments earlier she was kissing him hotly with that mouth and he had been enjoying every moment of it. While he knew that she was kissing who she thought was the Rippah, it was still something he wouldn't be forgetting anytime soon. Her mouth had been warm and her lips had been soft and plush and the way she had pressed her body against his and taken control of the kiss had surprised him. The Bonnie Bennett he had met back in the day was a force to be reckoned with when it came to her magic, but he always assumed she was complete the opposite when it came to her getting intimate. Apparently he had been mistaken. Imagining her being aggressive between the sheets caused him to growl softly.
"I'm happy to see that you were able to change a lot quicker than you did when you were getting ready for our date, love," he quipped amused.
"You mean the date you tricked me into? I didn't realize that Originals had to resort to deception to get a girl to go out with them."
You are still as fiery as ever. It's nice to see that some things haven't changed, love," he grinned running his tongue across his white teeth slowly as he moved closer to her her.
Bonnie balked and narrowed her piercing green eyes. "The last time that I saw you, you were dead and disappeared with the other side. How and why are you alive?"
"I will be more than happy to tell you. Why don't you have a seat and I'll make you something to warm your bones," he suggested pulling out a chair for her to sit in before heading into the kitchen.
Bonnie sat at the table and watched suspiciously as Kol rambled pointlessly as he wandered around the kitchen gathering the things needed to make coffee. It was almost comical to see how the immortal psychopath who had once tried to kill her in the hallway of her high school was not appearing to be normal and stable as he attempted to have a light hearted conversation with her. She knew that she would be a fool to trust him. After all, she knew he was dangerous. She cringed internally when she recalled the time Damon told her about how Kol had worked him over with a baseball bat. Kol was a true blue crazy person and while she wasn't thrilled to be left alone with him, she was going to make sure she remained alert and on guard at all times.
"What the hell are you doing here?" She demanded glowering at him with barely contained anger.
"I would love to say it was for pleasure, but unfortunately it's business that has me standing before you," he confessed honestly.
"We," Bonnie said using her index finger to motion between herself and the Original. "Have no business."
As he used his magic to float a ceramic mug out of the cabinet, she narrowed her eyes suspiciously.
For a moment, Bonnie's anger faded and her curiosity got the best of her. Kol was a warlock? An Original warlock? How was that possible? She always thought Klaus was the unique one in his psychotic family given the fact that he was a cross between a vampire and a werewolf, but discovering Kol was a vampire and a warlock was truly mind blowing. As she pondered over the revelation, she remembered that his mother Esther was a witch. How was it possible that Klaus ended up a hybrid, Rebecca and Finn regular Original vampires, and Kol a warlock and a vampire? What the hell was up with the genetics in that family?
"How is this possible? How are you a witch?" Bonnie asked stunned.
"I believe that the correct term is warlock, and it's a long story," he said slowly as he nibbled thoughtfully on his bottom lip.
"Well give me the cliff notes version," she pressed evenly.
"Let's just say that I made a deal with the devil. A deal to bring me back to this world. When I was bought back to life, my first order of business was to return to Mystic Falls to make that doppelganger bestie of yours pay for the part she played in my death," His face darkened momentarily as he thought of Elena Gilbert and how she and her brother had murdered him in their home. "However, my plans became null and void once I discovered that she had been put under a sleeping curse and could only awake upon your death."
"How did you learn about Elena's sleeping curse?" Bonnie asked stiffly.
He shrugged casually. "Nicklaus filled me in. He makes it his business to be informed about everything that he finds somewhat relevant. Once he filled me in, I knew that my plans for revenge would have to wait until your tragic passing."
Bonnie bristled. "So Cade resurrected you and in return, you what? Because one of his minions?"
Kol laughed haughtily. "Don't be insulting, darling. My relationship with Cade is quid pro quo. Cade bought me back to life and I told him that I owed him a favor. I was in New Orleans minding my business and helping Niklaus in his bloody little war with Marcell, when he approached me. He told me all about a little witch who was seeking the weapon that will bring about his destruction, and I thought to myself. Who could be so bold and brazen to go after the instrument that threatens the most powerful immortal in this world," he paused and stared at her with a twinkle in his dark brown eyes. "Imagine my surprise when he told me that it was a little Bennett witch that he wanted me to shadow and keep an eye on."
"I'm not letting you get your hands on the bone dagger. I'll die before I let that happen," she growled through clenched teeth.
Kol lifted his hands in mock surrender. "I'm afraid that you have misunderstood me, love. I'm not here to relieve you of the weapon. I'm here to make sure you aren't going to die while retrieving it. Cade made it clear that it is of the utmost important that you arrive back to Mystic Falls alive and breathing."
"So Cade doesn't care if I get my hands on the weapon that can destroy him? That doesn't make sense."
"I agree, love. I personally thought he would want me to snuff you out, but apparently you are worth more alive to him than dead. Maybe there is something that he values more than the one thing that would take away his immorality."
"What could the devil possibly want more than a weapon that can destroy him?"
"Isn't it obvious? What does every immortal want that tends to slip through their aged fingers?" Kol murmured sipping his tea slowly. "What did Silas want? What did Stefan want? What did my wretched brother want?"
Bonnie stared at him for a long moment before her eyes widened at the sudden realization. Silas wanted to reunite with Amara. Stefan wanted Elena and Klaus wanted his family.
"Love."
"Correct darling."
"Cade wants someone he loves and apparently you are the key to getting this person back so as much as he may hate the fact that you will secure the bone dagger that could end his life, he cares more about keeping you alive in order to get back the person who owns his heart."
"So you are here to keep me alive because of the debt you owe to Cade?" she asked dubiously.
"Just consider me to be your supernatural bodyguard," he said winking at her.
"I remember there was a time where you tried to kill me. Why should I trust you?" she asked boldly.
He laughed lightly as he stared down at her with a twinkle in his brown eyes. "Silly witch. I never intended to kill you back when you were so foolishly attempting to rise Silas from the dead. I was merely attempting to scare you into abandoning that idiotic mission. Believe it or not, I have a soft spot for witches. Always admired them. Respected them. Loved them." There was a brief flash of sadness that Bonnie managed to see and she realized that she recognized that particular brand of sadness. It was called grief. Kol had admired, respected and loved a witch. It was also clear that he lost that witch and while she didn't particular care for the Original, the empathetic part of her felt some sort of compassion for him.
"What was her name?" she asked softly.
"Davina. She was very special to me," he said softly as he stared down at his now lukewarm tea.
"I'm sorry for your loss," she said sincerely.
Kol stared at her for a long moment with an unreadable expression on his face. It was clear that Bonnie did not like him, but the fact that she cared enough to show sympathy over the fact that he had lost someone he had loved showed that she was the same good person that she had always been. A part of him couldn't help but think that if Davina was still alive, that the two witches could have been friends. They both were fiercely loyal, protective and beautiful. Davina could have used someone like Bonnie to mentor her and help her grow into her powers and become a better witch than she already was. Davina was taken from the world far too soon and the more that he thought about her absence in his life, the darker his mood became until he found himself gripping his tea cup so tightly, it shattered into a hundred tiny pieces. The unexpected destruction of the cup caused Bonnie to flinch as she stared at him startled.
"Forgive me," he said apologetically before waving his hand effortlessly allowing his magic to make the mess disappear, "Davina is a sore subject for me."
Bonnie could tell by dark look of pain and anger in his eyes that it was in her best interest to move the conversation in a less volatile direction.
She took another sip of her tea before clearing her throat and meeting his gaze once more. "So what all do you know about this mission that I am on?"
"I know that the fact that someone tried to kill you means that you are on the right track. I also know that you should heed the legend," he said cryptically.
Bonnie ears perked up. "Legend? What legend?"
"There is a legend that the people on this island whispers to their children right before they put them asleep," he said leaning forward with a conspiratorially look on his face. "The legend is about magical children who were born with the gift of being a psychic and if they were bad, they would be exiled to an island where a man from below will drag them to the lake of fire. Of course it was a tale told to children who misbehave in order to scare them straight, but every myth, however ridiculous it sounds, holds a bit of truth. When Cade was burned at the stake on the remote island miles outside of Limosa, it became cursed. Everyone who has ever stepped foot on that island has died and ended up in hell."
Bonnie blinked owlishly before laughing.
"Was that little story suppose to scare me? I been through worse," she snorted as she stood up from the table to place her cup into the sink.
When she turned around she sighed heavily when she found Kol towering over her.
"I don't appreciate your blasé' attitude, Bonnie. That should at the very release concern you and make you consider putting an end to this foolish crusade of yours," he warned evenly.
"I've come too far to turn back now," she said stubbornly.
"I forgot how formidable you could be, little witch," he teased before pinching her chin between her thumb and index finger.
Bonnie swatted his hand away before glaring at him. "Moving forward, I would appreciate if you kept your hands and your lips to yourself."
"If I recall correctly, you didn't mind that I was touching and kissing you when we had our little dalliance in the ocean."
"I thought that you were Stefan otherwise I would have never let things get that far," she bristled as she tried to ignore the heat crawling up the back of her neck.
"You may not like me little witch but you cannot deny that the kiss we shared was incredible. I have kissed many girls over the span of my immortality and our kiss is burned into my memory," he said huskily.
"Well I'm glad that you enjoyed it because it will never happen again," she smirked.
"Never say never, love. Before we leave this island, I intend to kiss you again
"So you intend to get your lips melted off your pretty little face," she said with a saccharine smile on her face.
"So you think I'm pretty? I'm very flattered little witch," he grinned winking at her.
Bonnie smiled despite herself. Kol was all kinds of deranged and crazy, but she couldn't deny that he was very charming.
Seeing that he manage to get her to soften up towards him a little bit, Kol decided that it was best to leave while they were on somewhat good terms.
"It's getting late and you have a big day ahead of you so I won't keep you any longer," he said as he reluctantly stepped away from her and made his way towards the front door.
"Kol," Bonnie called after him.
"Yes little witch?"
"Thank you for saving my life tonight," she said softly.
"You are very welcome darling," he murmured with a smile before leaving.
Bonnie stifled a yawn as she made her way into the back of the house prepared to go to sleep. However, she knew that sleep would have to wait when she found Stefan sitting on the edge of her bed with a look on his face that revealed that he was angry.
Very angry.
