"I'm tired of hospital Conan"
The round boy told the glasses boy who was sitting on the big hospital bed right now. Detective boys and Professor Agasa are visiting Conan who's still staying in the hospital after the events that happen to him. Conan heard his friend words just slightly laugh by it since he is already been in the hospitals for numerous times now, either him or his big brother who got admitted.
"I'm also tired of it Genta… Do I have a choice to stay here" said Conan half laugh
"Well it is your fault for getting flash-freeze in the first place" said Haibara smirking
"Shut up"
"Now now, Conan-kun already been through a lot" said Ayumi calming Genta and Haibara
"But I'm really surprised you let the culprit force you to do stuffs, you usually just kick the culprit with you soccer balls and report to the police" asked Mitsuhiko
"Well Ran-neechan's mom was taken hostage so both Ran-neechan and I have no choice to do what he says. Still, I already smart enough to give that mystery geek a SOS using my own case but he is still clueless about it" said Conan who just give a bored look
"Well he was trapped in unidentified place and all of your life is on the line, his detective senses will surely not work" said Haibara
"Speaking of Tantei-niichan, where is he now?" asked Genta looking around
"He said about helping Ran-neechan on 'some investigations'" said Conan with a smirk
Detective boys just confused by Conan's words while Conan just look to the window with a small smile
At Beika Aquarium
Shinichi is looking through the fishes especially shark and stingray until someone panting right in front of him
"You're late, you can't be late when you invited me. You even make Professor Agasa to look after Conan this afternoon" said Shinichi boredly
"Sorry sorry! Something came up" said the person
It was Ran with a slight guilty look to Shinichi
They are both in Beika Aquarium, Ran was discharged from the hospital the next day after she was admitted since she was defrosted quickly and properly unlike Conan who didn't get proper defrosting and unstable temperature so the doctor told him to stay in for more examination and have a full bed rest. Ran ask Shinichi to help her to investigate Beika Aquarium, the initial plan was with Sonoko but Sonoko got a cold so it's just two of them
"But why are you here? I did tell you to meet at the entrance" said Ran
"I wanted to see the sharks" said Shinichi as he look through the Aquarium
Suddenly Ran's phone rings which to be a message from someone
"Got a message from Sonoko. Her cold seems to be a lot better now" said Ran
"Oh I see"
Ran quickly reply her which Shinichi notice something but he keeps it to himself. He looks around the Aquarium until Ran put the phone back to her bag
"Then let's hurry up and check the place out for your whatever plan" said Shinichi boredly as he walks away
"It's not the 'whatever plan'. It's the Super Aquarium Romantic Reunion Plan!" said Ran seriously
Shinichi who overheard it just laugh it of by the name of the plan
"You're the one who came up with this plan right? You suggested Aquarium since my dad likes fish" said Ran
"Yeah but the one who name the plan is Sonoko. You even force me to come with you to look into this" said Shinichi without looking at Ran
"But I haven't been to the Aquarium before and I didn't want to come alone… I know you didn't want to come to this romantic date location with me"
Shinichi got surprised by Ran's change of behavior which make him slightly panic
"But Sonoko caught a cold and I have no choice but to ask you instead" said Ran look down
"It's not that I didn't want to come-"
"Then let's go to the café too! They have lots of cute items on their menu"
"Ahahaha…"
"It's for my sake so let me know what you think okay"
"Alright alright…" said Shinichi giving up
Ran quickly walk in front of Shinichi and then slightly blush
"That's actually an excuse" thought Ran
Shinichi quickly walk beside her and suggest her that her parents shouldn't meet in front of the sharks due to their reputation. Ran who still blushing just look at Shinichi at the back
"I actually wanted to come with Shinichi because…"
Suddenly her mind flashback when she asks permission to Conan in the hospital
Flashback
At the hospital
"Aquarium date huh..." asked Conan smirking
"No, it's not a date! I just want to ask Shinichi a favor to look into spot for my parents reunion plan" said Ran who quickly denied Conan's words
Conan see Ran closely but then he giggle
"What's so funny?" asked Ran started to get annoyed
"Ran-neechan is blushing" said Conan mocking her
Ran quickly hold her cheeks in embarrassment and got angry at Conan who just giggle. Ran just pout by the grade schooler playing with her. Conan notice her pouting and stop giggle
"Sorry sorry, but you can also have fun with him too. Think of it as a recreation for fun" said Conan smiling
"Well I don't think I can really have fun. Conan-kun is still in the hospital after all so I don't think that mystery geek will have a good time without thinking about you"
"That's why, I want to ask Ran-neechan a favor"
"A favor?"
Conan look at Ran with a determined smile to her which make Ran even more confused
Back to present
Ran blush and then call the high schooler asking about her clothes for today while putting both of her arms up
"What do you think? I really like this dress" said Ran while showing full of her clothes
"It's not bad" said Shinichi look away to hide his blushing
"That's all?"
"If you really need an opinion on your clothes, just ask your mom. You are having dinner tonight with her right"
"Eh"
Ran got shock by Shinichi's statement. She never told him that tonight she will have dinner with her mother. Ran quickly ask on how did he know but Shinichi got focus seeing the stingray that was swimming across the Aquarium which irritated Ran even more
She really hated this kind of behavior. Shinichi always act like he read someone's mind but won't explain how he knows about it. His little brother sometimes do that but the difference is that Conan quickly explain on how he knows while Shinichi has to be asking twice to get his answer
"Shinichi answer me! I haven't told dad or Sonoko about it but how did you know? You didn't see my phone right?" asked Ran angrily
"After you checked Sonoko's message, you checked the previous message. I naturally assumed you had plans after this and were confirming time" said Shinichi start explaining
"What? That doesn't answer my question"
"You have got a fashion magazine that you don't usually buy in your bag"
Ran was surprised and then look to her bag and then Shinichi quickly explain that he sees that there's also a business card stuck between pages and by seeing Ran's confidence on her clothes confirm that Ran was late because she was asked to be a reader model and had some shots taken. Around the area, model scouts only hand out around the main street of 3-chome which that's little away from the Aquarium. But then he found out that Ran is going to the supermarket that was famous for their prepackage foods by her lips that shining due to eating something oily which is from the free samples. With that he concluded that Ran is going somewhere tonight since she's buying prepackaged food for her father and then narrow it to her mother since Sonoko is sick which is not her
"Did I got it wrong?" asked Shinichi boredly
"No… you got all right" said Ran surprised
"What is this… It's not like what Conan-kun told me" thought Ran confused
Shinichi then remembers something
"Ah I forgot, it looks like you run from there because of your photoshoot made you late. Today, don't run anymore" said Shinichi serious
"Eh why?"
"Well… It will make you sad"
"What?! I don't get it!"
"Anyway, just don't run-"
"My name is Ran! I was born to run!"
"You got be kidding me! Then let me tell you-"
Suddenly Shinichi face change as he look back and see a crowd of people seems to be looking at something
"Ran! Go to the entrance and call the employee" said Shinichi serious
"What?"
"Hurry!"
Shinichi then run toward the crowd leaving Ran who was confused but she go to the entrance to find the employee. Moments later, Ran who comes with the employee see a body that was bleeding by the tunnel. Which confirm that of all time that was given, they have to run into a murder case today
Time Skip~
At the Hospital
Conan is reading Detective Samonji book alone in the hospital room waiting for his big brother to come but suddenly got a call from the telephone earring
"Hello? Oh Niichan, what's wrong?" asked Conan as he closes his book
"Sorry Conan, I got into a murder case in Beika Aquarium. I don't think I will be back there until late so you go on asleep first" said Shinichi on the phone
"Great, your murder radar got activated after a week sleeping"
"Shut up"
Conan just rolled his eyes as he heard Shinichi's explanation
"So what's the case?" asked Conan serious
"A guy was stabbed on his chest, the victim is Shumoto Kunihiro, 26 years old. Ran and I found the victim right on the tunnel of the Aquarium" said Shinichi as he look at Inspector Megure who's looking at the phones
"Tunnel?"
"Ah one of the Aquarium attraction is a tunnel of Aquarium which we can see the fishes even from above"
"That's an interesting place to put a body… so the suspects?"
"Three, their evidences are on their phone which is a video of each attraction of the Aquarium"
"I see… If only I can see the evidences"
"You can use my old phone, it should be in my bag near your bed"
"Okay"
Shinichi borrow Ran's phone again to send Conan some pictures and evidences of the cases. Ran look at him in confused
"Why did you send this case to Conan-kun?" asked Ran surprised
"I already promise him, every time I stumble into a case, I will quickly tell him everything. Well some help can't be hurt right" said Shinichi who's focusing on typing the messages
Ran pretend she believes him but she knows that Shinichi is lying. It seems something's bothering him ever since the case started. Shinichi quickly see Conan's face through Ran's phone
"Oi oi you're using Ran-neechan's phone" said Conan
"It's alright, she's with me right now" said Shinichi showing Ran
"Conan-kun! Sorry for interrupting your rest" said Ran smiling to the boy
"I'm used to it Ran-neechan hehe" said Conan smiles back
"Okay can we focus here" said Shinichi who rolled his eyes
"Ah sorry sorry… I just see the videos that you give me and the suspects faces… There's something weird about the videos though"
"What is it?"
"Ojiro-san took the video vertically while her boyfriend horizontally. Does she's really taking videos of the fishes or…"
Shinichi look again through the video and quickly run out from the room which surprised the police and Ran. Conan on the other hand look to the shaken video from the phone in surprise but then he smirk when the video shows some fishes swimming
"You solve it huh oh great detective" said Conan smirking
"Ah, thank you Conan. You give me a good hint"
"Great, hurry and do the deduction show. It's almost late and I feel bad for Ran-neechan looking after you"
"Yeah yeah thank you"
Shinichi close the phone and smile toward the phone which then he goes back to call Inspector Megure to do the deduction show
Time Skip~
Shinichi close the case immediately which Inspector let them go home quickly. Ran start to worry that she will not make it to her mom's promise place and then Shinichi offer her to take her there since he brings his bike. On their way to the parking lot, Ran look at Shinichi which seems he has calm down after the case which is perfect time for her to do Conan's favor
Flashback
"A favor?" asked Ran surprised
Conan showed a determined smile as he sits up from his bed and look at Ran seriously
"Try to calm him down by taking him there for environment change. Ever since I got admitted here, he always stayed beside me except today since he has meeting with Megure-keibu about the case"
"That was my intention in the first place… but there's more right Conan-kun?
"Yes… After he calm down, let Shinichi-niichan be honest with you to at least ease him down… Can you do it for me Ran-neechan?"
"Honest? What's wrong with Shinichi?"
"Shinichi-niichan… hasn't been himself ever since the white room incident" said Conan in low voice
"Eh?"
"He seals his worry thoughts and feelings inside his over the top confidence that he has"
Conan then rest his back to the bed again which then he look down
"Ran-neechan must have heard that both of us cried at that autopsy room right?" asked Conan who play with his hands
"Yeah… My dad told me about it"
"You should know right… My big brother is a robotic, almost no emotion look, think highly of himself, selfless and of course baka"
"That's cruel Conan-kun" said Ran holding laughter
"Hehehehe well that's a fact. But…"
The boy just look down as he let out a sad smile surprise the high schooler
"He's someone I look up to and… The one who give me chance to live" said Conan serious
"Conan-kun…"
"Well that's that but I'm his little brother, I have been living with him for a year now and ever since that white room incident… Every time he look at me… He shows a look that I made a year ago"
"Look? What kind of look?"
Ran getting worried by Conan's words and quickly take his hand in worried. Conan look at Ran's hand who's holding him and then put his other hand on top of Ran's hand
"The look of… fear of losing someone"
Back to present
"Nee Shinichi… There's something I'm curious about"
"What is it, Ran?" asked Shinichi without looking at Ran
"Did you got trauma after that white room incident?" asked Ran serious
Shinichi was shock by Ran's question, he then look at Ran in shock and surprised since he was sure he didn't show anything weird on his face
"What makes you think like that?" asked Shinichi
"The fact that you can't get away without looking for Conan-kun more than two hours… You even realize the case after Conan-kun mention the video"
Shinichi stop his movement as Ran asked it. Shinichi can't help to get shock by Ran's deduction but then he was sure that there's someone behind her for making her ask that which he let her taking over and then sigh
"Man… If you found out that much then my face is practically awful huh Ran…" said Shinichi in low voice
"Shinichi…"
"That time, with only one second, I can lose him… I almost lost him once due to that bombing incident in Touto Tower but… That white room, If I'm seconds late, Conan wouldn't be alive now"
Ran can see fear in Shinichi's eyes. Sonoko's words when they talk about Shinichi got into her head again. The robotic and almost no emotion of Kudou Shinichi's face can only be broken by one person, which is Kudou Conan only. Shinichi's love and care for Conan is bigger than anything else which make Ran who sees it can only give a small smile
"Aahh ah, I'm jealous of Conan-kun" said Ran
"Eh? why suddenly" asked Shinichi surprised by Ran's words
"Well Shinichi seems to be overprotective to Conan-kun and care for him…"
"Of course! He's my little brother"
"He even can make you look like the Shinichi that I didn't know"
"What are you saying Ran…"
Ran goes in front of him and look to his eyes serious
"I know Conan-kun can be handful due to his recklessness but I can understand what Conan-kun do is always involves either us or his friends. You should try to believe him more Shinichi"
"Believe him?"
"I mean, you are more reckless than him, always worries him of anything you do and sometimes mad at you but Conan-kun seems to be believing in you like that time when you got shot for saving me… Mom told me that Conan-kun did a great job taking care of you and protected me at the same time"
"Well… He is always like that…"
"He really trusts you Shinichi, for not dying in front of him"
Ran's words hit the high schooler directly to his mind. Shinichi indeed always handful to Conan by his own recklessness and make Conan always angry at him by worrying him but Conan will take care of him like a proper sibling he is for him. Shinichi already hurt for numerous times protecting Conan or someone else but Conan always believe in him for not dying of what he do. With that Shinichi let out a small smile like he always makes on his face
"Thank you Ran… that really helped me" said Shinichi
"There's Shinichi that I know, who's a mystery geek" said Ran smiling
"Shut up… but I'm still surprised you can deduct it"
"No… It wasn't me"
Ran take out her phone and then shows a message to Shinichi which to be from his little brother
"Ran-neechan, If you want to ask Shinichi-niichan about my favor, use evidences like suddenly call me in just two hours after he left and the fact he notices the conclusion of the case after I told him the video which means that baka mystery geek detective engine is not working"
Shinichi who read it gets irritated since the last line deliberately mocking him
"That glasses brat" said Shinichi angrily
"The only person in this world who can do that to you is Conan-kun after all. He's one of the people who knows you to the core" said Ran smiling
Shinichi just smile gratitude to Ran for hearing him letting out his worries which he never did before. He never realized that having Conan near him will change him this much but he's happy with it. With that both of them goes out from the Aquarium
The next day
Conan wakes up and surprise to see his big brother asleep while holding his hand. Conan just smile as he put on his glasses. Moments later, the doctor comes in to check on him which he let him but he asks the doctor not to wake up his big brother which the doctor nod to him as he silently check on Conan.
"Hmmm it seems you already healed completely Conan-kun… You can discharge from the hospital tomorrow" said the doctor as he look at the boy
"Really?! Finally!" said Conan happily
"You can tell your big brother after he wakes up okay"
"Alright, thank you doctor"
The doctor comes out and then Conan took the book that he was reading last night to continue what he left last night. Few hours later, Shinichi wakes up and surprise to see his little brother already awake and reading the book
"Good afternoon sleepy head" said Conan see his big brother as he close the book
"Ah good af- afternoon?! What time is it?!" asked Shinichi surprised
"It's 12 PM baka. What time did you get here last night?"
"Around 11 PM I think… Since I have to take Ran to a restaurant for meeting her mother and Kisaki-sensei treat me too"
"I see… Meeting your future mother-in-law huh…"
"What did you say?!"
Conan giggle while Shinichi just look at the boy who seems getting better as if nothing happened to him few days ago. Shinichi then unexpectedly touch the boy's cheek which surprised the boy but he let him since he can sense that his eyes is showing fear just like what he showed to Ran yesterday
"Shinichi-niichan?" asked Conan in low voice
"Conan… Do you believe in me?" asked Shinichi
"Eh? what's with the sudden question?"
"Just answer me…"
Conan seems surprised by the change of behavior of his big brother in front of him. With that he just let out a small smile to him to calm him down
"Whatever it is, I will always believe in you. I'm your little brother after all so it was given of course" said Conan in soft voice
"Thank you… That's all I need to hear" said Shinichi as he put his forehead on Conan's forehead
Both brothers eyes lock to each other and Conan can see the fear that was on Shinichi's eyes disappear as he heard his answer. They look at each other for few minutes until someone broke the moment
"Excuse me two of you, but I think this scene is more appropriate for a couple instead of siblings" said someone
Both brothers let go of each other and see the source of the voice with to be Sonoko. They see that Sonoko, Ran and a nurse who seems to be blushing are near the door looking at them. Both boys blush after that while Sonoko just giggle.
"You know, I'm started to think you fall for your own sibling Shinichi-kun" said Sonoko mocking
"I'm not! Stop daydreaming Sonoko" said Shinichi angrily
"But I thought you are sick Sonoko-neechan?" asked Conan
"My cold already get better yesterday and this morning I'm not sick anymore so that's why I follow Ran to visit you" said Sonoko while helping Ran putting their food
"You shouldn't have come, what if you got a cold from other patients. That would be a tragedy getting sick again" said Shinichi slight mocking
"Are you hoping I got sick again Shinichi-kun?!"
"Alright, I think that's enough both of you. Let's just eat! I'm starving" said Ran calming them down
The nurse quickly take Conan's IV drip from him and give his lunch which both Ran and Sonoko also give lunch to Shinichi so they eat together in the room
"Ah Conan-kun, when will you get discharge from the hospital?" asked Ran
"Tomorrow" said Conan while eating
"Eh seriously?!" said Shinichi who look at him surprised
"This morning, the doctor told me about it. You were asleep after all"
"Ahahaha…"
Conan continued to eat but he slightly gazes to the high schoolers and he can see that his big brother already alright after the events that happen to them. He got relief that everything seems back to normal
