It was a fine evening
It's been weeks since Conan discharge from the hospital, they go into their normal routines such as cleaning and cooking around the house. Conan missed a week of school in which he was given a lot of assignments but he did it in two days. Now, Both Shinichi and Conan are now at the supermarket buying groceries together. Both of them were talking together about the case that Shinichi solve yesterday when Conan is playing with detective boys in Professor Agasa's house
"Ehh I see why she put the poison there" said Conan as he picked up some vegetables
"Yeah it was easy to figure it out… Oh yeah I just remembered, any update on your phone?"
"No… It can't be fixed… I have to use the telephone earring for a while. I can't even ask dad for more allowance to buy a new one after using the money for my hospital bill"
"If you want, you can use my old phone for now. At least it can be used for looking on the internet and messaging rather than that earring"
"Alright then, thank you"
Conan looks through the meat carefully and then buy some other things for the house like for cleaning, bath, cooking, everything. Shinichi just there helping him with pushing the carriage. Conan already
"You know Conan, you could make a great husband with your housekeeping skills" said Shinichi while looking at his little brother checking the due dates
"Hahaha... This kind of skills is needed if you live alone, what did you do when I haven't moved here?" asked Conan looking at his big brother
"Well..."
"Of course, Ran-neechan help with all your chores and I'm sure that you always go for takeout or have dinner with her or Professor Agasa, right?"
"Hahaha... you got me, mom did teach me how to cook before she moved to LA but I'm not into cooking so, let's just say, my cooking skills now and before are different"
"I can certainly imagine that, thank you so much. Ran-neechan even praise me for keeping you in check"
"Please spare me..."
After they have all they needed, both of them paying their groceries and walk home. Conan use his blue wagon to carry the groceries so they don't have to carry a lot of weight. Suddenly, the giant TV screen on the intersection tells a breaking news
"Breaking News, Suzuki Jirokichi set another challenge notice to Kaito Kid!" said the newscaster on the TV
Conan stop his movement as he look at the TV. Shinichi look at his little brother's eyes change and smirk happily as he sees the news there
"There goes his switch…" thought Shinichi sigh
"Well sorry" said Conan blushing
"But I'm surprised that old man didn't contact you"
"Actually… he did through Occhan since my phone is broken. That time, I'm still admitted in the hospital and Occhan just said that in near time, Jirokichi-ojiisan will send a challenge notice"
"Ahahaha as expected"
Suddenly Shinichi's phone rings and the caller is from Sonoko to which of course they know immediately what the phone call means. The Kid Killer is invited to attend the notice
"Okay then… Where's the main place this time?" asked Shinichi to Sonoko on the phone
"It's in…"
Time Skip~
At Ginza Plaza
"You got to be kidding me" said Shinichi as he sees the very view of where the gem of the challenge is putted
"Oi oi… displayed in the middle of Ginza… As expected from Suzuki group" thought Conan laughing by the view as well
Both Shinichi and Conan are now at the intersection of Ginza Plaza and there's some crowd which to be the spectators to watch the jewel and some Kaito Kid fans. There are four guards who are guarding the Purple Nail, a pair of heels with embedded jewels that's worth a fortune.
"Ahh Shinichi! You came today" said Ran happily
"Yeah, I have no case now and I figure I can watch the Kid Killer in action once in a while" said Shinichi look down but much to his surprise that his little brother is gone
"Eh where's Conan-kun?"
"Oh that brat is meeting Jirokichi-ojiisama over there" said Sonoko pointing at the boy talking to Jirokichi
"Ohoo his engine already start huh" said Shinichi giggle seeing it
Shinichi looks around the crowd and notice that on each road there's like a pipe. Suddenly the crowd start to scream and look up and there it is, the white hang glider who passed through the sky
"KID!" shout the Kid fans excitedly
Conan run toward to his big brother's sight. He looks closely to the hang glider and notice a propeller behind it. Suddenly a white smoke comes out from him which covered the whole area and as it cleared, Kaito Kid descend to top of the heels podium
"Amazing! He flew down from so high up!" shout Sonoko amazed
"Just like Superman!" shout Ran
"No… he only blew up a dummy to divert everyone's attention, he snuck in from the crowd and jump on to the podium" thought Conan who already figured out
Shinichi who heard that quickly smirk by the little boy's deduction when it comes to Kaito Kid. Suddenly they heard noise coming from the roads which to be a giant net coming from each four sides which sealed the Ginza Square
"Oi oi! You got to be kidding me!" shout Shinichi looking around
"Jirokichi-ojiisama really went all out for this" said Sonoko
Conan looks around serious by the net height which make it impossible for the phantom thief to escape the square. Suddenly the fans ask him to disguise as themselves to help Kaito Kid to escape. Shinichi deliberately laugh hearing it but much to his surprised that the phantom thief just smirk
"You don't have to worry, something along these lines was expected" said Kid proudly
"What?!" thought Conan
"And, what will you do now?" asked the reporter
"Well since my work here is done, I will be going home now" said Kid
"That… how will you do it?"
Kaito Kid just smirk by the reporter question and with big confidence he told them
"Teleportation"
His answer of course surprised all of them there, from the TV staff, crowd, police, Inspector Nakamori, Suzuki Jirokichi and of course the Kid Killer
"Teleportation?! He wants to use instant movement to escape?!" thought Conan serious
"Oi oi oi, this is not Sci-fi world, how could he do such thing" said Shinichi started
"Shut up Shinichi-kun! Kid-sama can do it because he's awesome!" shout Sonoko
Shinichi just bitter laugh and he looks toward his little brother who just glare at the phantom thief in serious as he takes the thief words seriously. Inspector Nakamori and one of the guardian tried to catch him but then white smoke appears and make him disappear from the podium. All the crowd start to look around finding the phantom thief. Suddenly a card appear in front of Shinichi. He picks it up which to be Kaito Kid's card, Conan look behind the card which have words on it
"Three?" thought Conan as he read it
"Eh?" asked Shinichi as he turn it to see the card as well
Suddenly a smoke bomb can be heard and seen on top of one of the buildings. The thief that everyone there was searching is now on the roof very far away from the podium. As if he really did teleport there which make the crowd goes crazy seeing the thief
"Amazing, Kid-sama!" shout Sonoko proudly
"Seriously…" said Kogoro who shiver seeing it
"He teleported all the way up there" said Ran shock
Both Conan and Shinichi just shock at the phantom thief who just practically cheat science by doing something impossible to achieve. They see that Kid is talking to the TV crew on the roof before he falls down and use his hang glider to escape. Conan grit his teeth and bend down to activate his shoes, Shinichi who was in front of him quickly step away so Conan can aim to which he aimed perfectly to the phantom thief but only graze his cheek and hit his monocle
"Ouch that would be hurt" said Shinichi as he sees it
"What happen?" asked Ran who seems didn't notice it
"No, nothing"
Shinichi look at Conan's serious face looking at the flying phantom thief with his shoes letting out some electric sparks. He didn't regret coming to see the usual Kid Killer vs Kaito Kid in person, he didn't regret it at all…
Time Skip~
At Jirokichi's house
"What?! He's coming tomorrow to steal again?!" shout Inspector Nakamori angrily
"Yes… He told that right into the TV camera. He returned the fake so I'm planning to prepare the real one at the same location tomorrow night" said Jirokichi serious
"But, why didn't you have both as fakes?" asked Sonoko curious
"If I did that, Kid would have thrown away the pair and escaped into the crowd and then it wouldn't be my victory would it?"
"Well then at least why not attached a transmitter to the fake?" asked Inspector Nakamori annoyed
"Of course I did that however it dropped off somewhere"
"Would this be the transmitter?" asked Conan showing the Kid card to the adults
Conan gives the card to Jirokichi which he sees the transmitter that was attached to the card. Jirokichi confirmed which to be the transmitter that he put on the heel. Shinichi told him that they found the card right on seconds after Kid disappear and Sonoko told him that there's also other cards with numbers on the back as well
The adults try to find out how did Kid get to the building so fast. Since the building was borrowed by Jirokichi so there's no way he takes the elevator inside the building. The guard told them that one of the audience accidentally put ketchup on his hand. Then he grab Kid's cape when he was about to disappear. As he said that Jirokichi turn on the TV that shows Kaito Kid talking to the TV crew while giving the fake heel. He then stops the video which shows a surprising result

"A hand printed mark?!" thought Conan shock
"That mark was made by the guard!" shout Kogoro looking at the guard
"This isn't something even he could have anticipated… but this is proves that Kaito Kid on the ground and on the roof is the same" said Jirokichi serious
"No way…" thought Shinichi shock
"That bastard really did teleport… In merely 20 seconds up to 30 meters to that roof"
All of them in the room were all shock but of course the one who most shock is the Kid Killer himself since he didn't believe that kind of magic is possible by a human
Moments later, all of them goes back home since tomorrow they have to be there again especially Kid Killer. Shinichi drive home with his motorcycle and Conan sit on the back, Shinichi notice that Conan seems in deep thoughts after the revelation
At Kudou's house
Shinichi quickly heat up the dinner that Conan made for them before coming to the Kid heist. Conan stared at the TV that showing the news about Kid teleportation seriously as he's trying to find a flaw on his heist. Shinichi just give a small smile as he gives the bowl of curry to him since it seems he wants to sit by the sofa to watch the news
"Thank you" said Conan as he takes the bowl
"So you have any deduction, Kid Killer-san?" asked Shinichi
"No… not a clue…"
"There will be an answer to all of this, don't worry. You will find it"
"Thank you… so are you going tomorrow?"
"I think I will… Unless suddenly Megure-keibu call me"
"Okay then"
Time Skip~
Kogoro, Ran, Sonoko, Shinichi and Conan are now already in Ginza intersection and much to their surprised that the giant net was already unleash and sealed the intersection. Sonoko also told them that the TV crew staff were asked to leave by Jirokichi to maximize the security
Suddenly a little parachute shot up which to be from Kaito Kid and he announces that he has to cancel the show due to lack of audience and TV crew. The moment he said that angered all the people and Kid fans who showed up and they force themselves to go through the net. Shinichi then got serious as he sees the problematic net that already have a hole due to people force into the intersection
"He purposely gathered everyone inside the net and got the TV broadcast going on again… without them, his trick doesn't work?" thought Shinichi
"Wait a minute, where's Conan-kun?!" asked Ran looking around
"Eh… That baka" said Shinichi who look around
Shinichi quickly walk to find his little brother and he sees him looking serious to the net. As he wants to go closer, suddenly a white gun pointing to his head. Shinichi about to shout but Conan quickly glare at his big brother
"Stop! don't move!" shout Conan through his thoughts to Shinichi
"Eh?" asked Shinichi surprised
"Kaito Kid?!"
Shinichi quickly understand that the one who point the gun to him is Kaito Kid. Shinichi then stand by looking at Conan as he talks back to the phantom thief. Shinichi surprised as he looks how serious Conan is but suddenly someone goes to his side and look at what he sees
"There he is, Conan-kun!" shout Ran
"Ran, baka!" said Shinichi panic
Conan starts to panic as well as he looks behind him and see that Kid is not there anymore. Suddenly a little parachute comes out again and told the audience that the show will start as schedule. Shinichi and Ran quickly go to Conan
"Where is he?!" asked Shinichi
"He got away" said Conan looking to his back
"Eh what is going on?" asked Ran confused
"No… nothing, if you know, you will regret it. Let's go back to Sonoko and your father" said Shinichi
"What is it?!"
Ran quickly walk forward while Shinichi go to Conan's back and he notices something off and he tapped him to which seems that Conan also realize it but he let it so Shinichi nod to him.
"So what did that phantom thief do to you?" asked Shinichi
"He asks if I know about Thurston's three principles… It seems he's risking the taboo of doing his magic trick twice as long as it goes unrevealed" said Conan
"I see… then what are you going to do?"
"See and observe first I think"
As they come back, they see that Sonoko is looking at the news again and it shows a recap of yesterday's heist. Conan who sees the angle carefully quickly realize something's off. As he looks up to one of the buildings, he realizes everything from the trick and how did he do it in short time.
"You know?!" asked Shinichi loudly
"Eh?" asked Conan surprised
"Sorry, I heard your thoughts"
"Seriously, yeah I know… Where he might be"
"EHH?!" shout Sonoko and Ran surprised
"Where?" asked Kogoro interested
"Didn't Sonoko-neechan say it just now? On any one of those flying helicopters" said Conan as he looks up
"No way…" said Sonoko
"Kid must have an accomplice right? then Kid stealthily got on the helicopter and his accomplice lifted him up into the sky and dropped him on the roof. So it's as if it was teleportation"
"I see... If you use a string that will certainly make people didn't see it then it should be possible" said Shinichi agreeing on the theory
"There's no way that happened"
Shinichi, Ran and Kogoro got surprised by Sonoko's quick answer, Conan reasoning seems plausible
"Jirokichi-ojiisama said that all the helicopter pilots were all re-check by himself to prevent any of that. Today it seems they use police helicopters so which it's impossible. Not to mention, with many people around here, someone should see it happened" said Sonoko serious while looking at the helicopters
"Sonoko got a point there" said Ran
"Oh I see now, I really thought that I was headed in the right direction though… Looks like I'll have to rethink about it" said Conan smiling
On the other side, a certain phantom thief actually overheard everything that Conan said to the others and as Conan seems to be fail to notice his trick. He quickly become very happy and victorious of his achievement of making the trick that even his own rival can't solve it
Time Skip~
It was already night and the moon rises toward near the building, all Kid fans and audience shout happily as its almost time for the show started. Sonoko, Ran and Kogoro focus on the heel while Shinichi just smirk as he notices that his little brother was nowhere in sight
"Eh where's Conan-kun?" asked Ran surprised
"Seriously? He always goes away at perfect time" said Sonoko unhappy
"Come on, let's search for him again"
"Don't worry" said Shinichi stopping Ran
Shinichi said that with a lot of confidence and smirking as he look up see the magician flying toward the intersection
"The battle is almost begun" said Shinichi smirking
"Eh?" asked three of them confused
As on cue, Kid was already on the pillar and about to hold the Purple Nail. The guards try to catch him but it seems the phantom thief says something which make them freeze. Thanks to that, he finally disappears using the smoke bomb.
The phantom thief shots the three cards which was shouted by the crowd who get the card and read it out loud.
Three… Two… One
The thief who heard it laugh happily by his achievement until suddenly, the silence of noises around him was broken by one word
"Zero"
The phantom stop his laugh as he heard the specific voice that resonance through his above him. The one rival that has to guts to show up in front of him is the Kid Killer, Edogawa Conan with the moon lights up behind him. Kid goes panic mode as he told his accomplice to drop the weight
"Unfortunately, the magic show tonight is a free one, Magician of the Moonlight" said Conan smirking
Kaito Kid only show a poker face to the Kid Killer as he began explaining the trick
Conan explains that Kid pulled a black cloak over himself and ran towards the building he planned to hoist himself to the roof. Kid had set up a pulley before the heist, and by using the weight of sandbags and his accomplice, he leveraged himself up to the roof.
"I see… So the deduction that I overheard from the transmitter that I put on you is a fake meant to take me by surprised"
"Yeah… Thanks to the video of the last night's news, your black cloak cover the accent of the word that displays here. The reason you use white clothes for your heist is not because of your fearlessness but easy to hide. If something white disappear before their eyes, they will keep looking for white and you deceive their eyes by changing to black" said Conan serious
"Yeah, imagine if something white were to appear in a dark place"
Kaito Kid take off his black clothing and stare at the Kid Killer on the building with satisfaction
"It would be mysterious right"
Conan smirk back to him and everyone in the crowd and TV crew finally notice him standing by the display screen
"By the way, I heard you got admitted to the hospital. You seem to be okay now" said Kid smirking
"Ahh, well I don't need to explain since you should have heard everything by ear dropping the police headquarters"
"I haven't looked into it but I will leave that in mind, but for now"
"KID!" "YOU WILL NOT GET AWAY!" shout both Jirokichi and Inspector Nakamori
In the crowd, many people cheering for Kaito Kid since he did look like standing on the screen. Conan looks to the thief that's also look down to the police officers that shout his name
"You should give up, if you come up, you may make it out but you would be delivering your accomplice to the police. If it's the opposite, you will be the one that's out" said Conan serious
"Then, I will take the middle" said Kid smirking
"Middle?"
Kid use his card gun to release the banner ropes which reveal his accomplice. He quickly takes his accomplice and fly out from the net escaping. Conan got annoyed but as he looks down, he sees the Purple Nail was attached by the ropes where Kid is standing so he just smirks as his should to be victory for protecting the Purple Nail
Time Skip~
"Conan-kun!" shout Ran as he hug Conan who just got out from the building
"You were really something… entering the building" said Kogoro
"I'm a child so I manage to go inside" said Conan giggle
"But didn't you say, you don't know where he would be?" asked Sonoko confused
Just before Conan answer, the reporters push Kogoro, Shinichi, Ran and Sonoko out of the way and quickly interview Conan of his achievement of battling his enemy. Jirokichi also goes to him and shout proudly as the reporter take pictures of them together.
"I think I can explain that, actually Conan knows from the start of his tricks and where he would teleport" said Shinichi to them
"No way!" said Sonoko shock
"Then why he told us that he thought of using the helicopter?" asked Kogoro
"Kid bugged him, I realize that there's a transmitter on Conan's collar. Conan also realize it but he uses it as his advantage of telling you the fake deduction so he can surprise him from there" said Shinichi
"I see… As expected from Kid Killer huh" said Ran smiling
"Yeah… of course"
Shinichi smirk at his little brother and Conan notice his stare smirk back
"Well done great Kid Killer-san" thought Shinichi
"Thank you for the compliment" thought Conan back to him
