Sero laid in bed, the conversation with Dabi replaying in his mind. He'd been right; this apartment had no space for Yumi. It was unfair of him to expect her to keep living like this. Sooner or later she was either going to get tired of it and demand change, or leave him. Looking at the sleeping form beside him with her back turned to him, Sero turned and wrapped his arms around her.
"Yumi?"
Small groan.
"You awake?"
Another small groan.
It wasn't wise to ever wake the sleeping girlfriend, especially without a coffee I'm hand, but he decided to press his luck. Brushing the blue hair off her neck, he leaned over and started kissing.
Groan. "Hanta, let me sleep," Yumi said in a sleepy voice.
His hands moved under the sheets. He moved his hand slowly along the side of her body, taking in each curve until he got to her thigh. Giving it a squeeze, he felt Yumi stir again.
"Seriously Hanta, I'm tired. You had your birthday sex, and now I'm tired," she complained, brushing his hand away from her thigh. Her eyes remained closed the entire time.
"Not until you wake up. Come on, just entertain me this once," he said, his hand slowly moving up her stomach now.
Groaning again, Yumi slowly sat up. Her body was covered by the sheet as she looked at her persistent boyfriend.
She yawned, rubbing her eyes. "I swear to God if you woke me up for more sex, you're sleeping on the couch."
Sero chuckled as he sat up. "No, I wouldn't wake you for that," he said, brushing some hair out of her face. "I wanted to talk to you."
"Why couldn't we talk in the morning? After I had my coffee?" she asked, looking at the clock. It was 2 am. Who the fuck woke someone up at 2 am just to talk?!
Sero tried not to laugh seeing the look on her face. If only she knew.
"Well honey, I've been thinking a bit about this. The lease ends in a few days. What do you think about...instead of renewing it, we find an apartment together? Big enough for the both of us."
He expected to see some excitement. Instead, Yumi just sat there, looking stoic.
"Explain to me why this isn't a conversation that could have waited until I was awake? With coffee preferably."
"Because I thought you'd like the idea."
"I do. I'd like it even better if I was fully rested with coffee."
Sero shook his head. There was no pleasing her.
Wrapping his arms around her waist, he pulled her close. "After what I did to you, are you going to tell me that you planned to go to work?"
Now she was awake. Her cheeks turned rosy. Her body ached. There was no way she'd be able to work. "I mean….not really-"
"-Then don't worry. You'll get to sleep all day," he teased.
Yumi rolled her eyes. "Alright, I get your point," she said, rubbing her eyes again.
She wasn't opposed to the idea of them finding an apartment together. It would be in both their names, which was reassuring to her.
"Yeah, I like that idea. Wouldn't mind seeing my stuff out of the boxes for the first time in weeks," she teased.
"They're building that new high-rise that's not too far from the mall. Maybe we could give that a look before checking out some other places."
Yumi looked at him. "You think we could afford a place like that?" Even with both their paychecks and her tips, she wasn't sure they could afford the smallest apartment in there.
Sero shrugged. "It would be more to check out what we'd want in an apartment."
"What if we end up liking the apartments there?"
Sero sucked in air. "Then...we walk away disappointed and keep looking until we find a place we can afford."
Yumi just looked at him. She knew this conversation was too good to be true. "Sero...next time you want to wake me up...make sure you've thought everything through thoroughly."
"Come on. What's the worst that could happen?"
"We love the apartment."
"So then I get another job," he suggested. He was sure he could find a second job somewhere in the mall.
"If you say so," Yumi said as she laid back down.
Sero looked down at her and smiled. "Since you're awake, maybe we could-"
"-Don't even suggest it."
He smirked as he moved on top of her. "You know, it's not nice to be mean to someone on their birthday."
Yumi tried pushing him off. "Your birthday was yesterday-"
He grabbed her wrists. Holding them in one hand, he pinned them over her head. "It's still my birthday month," he said, his free hand cupping her chin.
Yumi blushed harder. Her eyes darted away from his. "This isn't fair."
He chuckled as he leaned in close. "No one said life was fair babe," he whispered, kissing her possessively.
Yumi whimpered softly as she squirmed under him. They both knew she was only putting on a show to be defiant. Eventually, she would stop and give in to the desire they both had.

Two weeks later…
It'd been about a week since Sero and Yumi had moved into their new place, and Sero was glad that they had finally finished unpacking. It was nice seeing Yumi's stuff finally out of the boxes and mixing in with his style.
The apartment itself was amazing. It was a tall white building that had several windows all over. The lawns around the property looked freshly trimmed. Closer to the mall than his old apartment had been. There were gym facilities and an indoor pool everyone could hang out in when they came over. Seemed perfect.
One of the best things Sero appreciated was the security. It was reassuring to know that he wouldn't have to worry about Yumi being alone in the apartment anymore.
Walking into the building, carrying the bag of groceries inside, he didn't notice the tall figure over by the mailroom.
"Hey kid, whatcha doing here?"
Turning around, Sero was surprised to see Dabi standing there. It really was a small world.
"We just moved in," Sero said as he shifted the bag in his arms.
Dabi looked at him with a raised brow. He knew how much these apartments cost. While he didn't know their financial situation, he knew there was no way these two could afford apartments like this.
"Really now? How did you make that happen?"
Sero looked away, trying to remain as innocent as possible. "It just kind of happened. Turned out we could afford it."
Shaking his head, Dabi could tell he wasn't going to get the answer out of him. He needed the tiny blue-haired one.
"Either way, it saves me the postage."
"What do you mean?" Sero asked, brow raised as the elevator doors opened.
Dabi walked over and handed Sero a white envelope. "Thanks for the handcuffs."

Yumi was lounging, playing Stardew Valley on her switch on the couch when she heard the door open. "Welcome back," she said, not bothering to look up.
Sero rushed over to her, setting the bag of groceries on the couch. "Babe, you aren't going to believe what just happened."
At that moment, her phone dinged. Confused, Yumi set down her Switch and reached for her phone. It was a text from Keigo.
"HOW THE FUCK ARE YOU NOT GOING TO TELL ME YOU MOVED?! TO THE SKY-RISE NO LESS?!"
Looking at the text, she turned her head to see Sero. This seemed…too coincidental. "What were you going to tell me?"
Sero smirked and handed her the envelope. "Ran into Dabi. He wanted me to deliver this to you."
Taking the envelope, she didn't open it right away. Her brain was still processing this new information. "And where did you run into Dabi?"
"The front lobby."
Well, that explained the text. "So….what you're trying to tell me is...we-"
" - Absolutely," Sero said, trying so hard to suppress a laugh. This was hilarious. The two dirt collectors living in close proximity. What was the worst that could happen?
Her phone dinged again.
'You might as well come over! No point in pretending this isn't happening. We're on the 8th floor.'
Sero, who'd read the text over her shoulder, broke down laughing. "Time to go meet the neighbors."
~.~
"Come on in," Dabi greeted casually with a smile.
Sero and Yumi were stunned to see Dabi express happiness so blatantly. But when they stopped inside, they could see why.
For the most part, they were unpacked and moved in, save for one or two boxes sitting on the kitchen counter. Keigo fiddled in the living room with a page of instructions for an IKEA bookshelf. But he stopped when he saw his neighbors. "Hey, guys!"
Since Sero and Yumi had the penthouse, their apartment took up the entire top of the building. One long, flat expanse of space. But Keigo and Dabi's apartment was more loft-style, with an exposed metal staircase ascending up. A brick accent wall gave their apartment a more urban look, along with the exposed pipes that ran along the ceiling.
They could barely keep up with Keigo as he excitedly got up to his feet and began explaining his plans for the apartment.
" - don't really have that many books but every place needs a bookshelf, right? I'm also gonna pick up macrame which doesn't look that hard based on the vids I've seen on youtube so when we get plants they can hang from the ceiling. We're on an air mattress upstairs until the bed frame comes in the mail but it's not so bad and I love all the light we get in here which is good for plants and Dabi and I are gonna pick out a dining set maybe for when we have guests oh! And Natsuo is giving us a pool table so we won't have to pay to use one when we go out! The master bedroom is the biggest and it has its own bathroom but there's also a guest room on the main floor - "
Dabi leaned close to the two of them and whispered, "He's nesting. I'm just rolling with it."
"I love your couch," Yumi complimented. "It's so comfy and earthy-looking."
"I think that color is called rust or something," Dabi said. "I'm not sure, Keigo found it."
Sero raised an eyebrow. "Wait, what do you mean you're not sure? You're not picking stuff out together?"
Dabi smiled warmly. "I gave him my card and went to bed. Then I woke up and we had a couch."
"You're letting him choose everything?" Yumi asked.
Dabi couldn't stop smiling. "He's so excited. I just...I don't care what he picks. As long as he's happy."
" - command hooks so we can hang pots and pans on the walls. I don't really know how to cook but my mom's got tons of cookbooks she wants to give me and since we have a terrace we can grow fresh herbs like basil if we wanna do a pizza night OH! Guys, there's a pizza oven in the kitchen, it's not one of those old-fashioned ones made of brick but it's stone inside and I can't wait to - "
" - How long has he been like this?" Yumi whispered with a raised eyebrow.
Dabi hadn't stopped smiling. "Since we moved in," he answered dreamily, gazing at his boyfriend with adoration.
"Who are you and what have you done with Dabi Himura?" Sero asked, laughing. "You're acting like you're high or something."
Yumi swatted his arm. "Hanta, if they're happy, let them be happy." She cleared her throat. "But uh...seriously, what are you on and can I have some?"
Dabi practically skipped to the kitchen to pour himself some coffee. "My amazing, perfect boyfriend of six years who I love more than anything in this world is letting me turn our second guest room into a sex dungeon."
Sero blinked, dumbfounded. "Well damn."
Yumi, however, wasn't fazed. "You guys should throw a shower. You know how people do that to get baby supplies as gifts? You can do that but instead of baby clothes you get shackles and riding crops."
" - favorite part is the view, hands-down. Actually wait, I love the kitchen sink because the faucet is detachable and becomes a water hose for washing dishes even though now we have a dishwasher so we wouldn't really need it for that but it's still cool and - "
" - Isn't he the cutest?" Dabi asked, still dazed.
~.~
After checking out the honeymooners' apartment, Keigo and Dabi decided they wanted to see what apartment Sero and Yumi had gotten. They expected the two to be in one of the cheaper apartments. Much to their surprise, the two swiped up the penthouse at the top of the building. Standing in the middle of the apartment, the two looked at the space they had to work with.
"Are you sure we could fit a dance floor in here if the bar is right there? Maybe if we moved the sofa - "
"No, I'm sure it'll fit. We don't need a big one, just big enough for like 10 people- "
"-Yeah, you're right."
"Think there's enough space for - "
"- Oh, definitely."
"What about when we wanna barbecue?" he muttered, turning his head to Keigo.
"Well we can't put a grill outside if that's where the hot tub is going," he said in a low whisper.
Yumi, who was sitting on the couch playing her game, looked up at them. "What are you doing?"
Dabi turned away from the window. "Nothing much."
"Just planning out our parties for the next ten years," Keigo added, doing measurements in his head. He would figure out a way to fit a large hot tub and a grill. The space wasn't small, but he had to take into account outdoor furniture as well.
Sero, who'd been in the kitchen making some lunch, stopped what he was doing. "WHAT?!"
Yumi got off the couch. "Why our apartment?" she asked, hands on her hips. While she was okay with events being held at their place, she would prefer they'd be run by her first.
Dabi shrugged. "Your place is the biggest and it has a bar."
"It's a no-brainer," Keigo added, walking away from the windows, towards the bar.
Sero shook his head. "Those are your only reasons?"
Dabi smirked. "We're alcoholics, we don't need any other reasons."
Yumi shook her head. She was regretting letting them inside.
"Do you think we could hang anything from the ceiling?" Keigo asked, looking up. The apartment wasn't two stories like theirs was, but it still had high enough ceilings.
"What were you thinking?"
"Not sure yet. I just like having options."
Sero went back to cooking, opting to draw them out.
"Do we even get a warning when you two plan to throw these parties?" Yumi asked.
"No."
Yumi just shook her head and went back to her game. Keigo continued to go around the apartment, muttering to himself on adjustments to be made for future parties.
Dabi just watched from the living room. He was amazed the two had pulled off getting the penthouse. Although he still questioned how they'd gotten it. He walked over to the kitchen island Sero was cooking at.
"So, you ever plan to tell us how you managed to get the penthouse of all things?"
Sero smirked. "What can I say? Business is doing great."
Dabi walked over to the windows and looked out the terrace. It was a blank canvas. "Do youDabi looked at him then looked at Yumi. "What's the truth?" He didn't believe for a moment that Sero funded the penthouse entirely.
Yumi shrugged a bit. Dabi looked back at Sero. "Why are you lying? The truth can't be that embarrassing," he said, noticing that Sero's face seemed to get darker.
He watched as Keigo started making his way towards the bedrooms, with Yumi hot on his tail to prevent him.
"So what happened?"
"Fine. Let's just say a guy put his hands somewhere he shouldn't have. Yumi got mad and threatened him in Russian. She said that he must not want his kneecaps because she would get the biggest bat she could find and beat it repeatedly against his knees until the bones turned to dust."
Dabi was surprised, but not completely shocked.
"Won't lie, it was kind of hot."
"So then what?"
"Guy must like his kneecaps because he offered us any apartment of our choosing for a fraction of the price."
Dabi raised an eyebrow. "And she chose the penthouse?"
"No, that was my idea. She liked it because of the space inside as well as the view from the terrace. We're thinking about putting it in a private pool or something."
"Why? There's a perfectly good indoor pool in the building."
"True, but you can't have sex in the public pool."
Dabi thought about it. "You're right." Now he wondered if they could fit a pool in their place.
