Synopsis:
She was happiness. She was joy. A charming little girl with who would always see the positive side of things and try to find the good in people's heart. . . That girl was me, at some point. An innocent soul with a pure heart along with the mindset where everyone would get their happily ever after, prince charming and everything like in most fairy tales. . .
But this story is not one of those.
There is no prince charming or a knight in shining armour, but I can guarantee you that there will be dragons with flames, demons from many kinds, creatures from legends, and battles like no other.
But the greatest fight of all is. . . The conflict within the heart with weapons that many know as. . .
Emotions. . .
I am Miyuki Urameshi. The girl who lost her spark, but ended up coming back as the whole damn fire.

I pull out the warrior uniform that I last used in our mission to the Maze Castle. It was a good thing to have at least three of them. Well, I don't know why did Master Yara have that many copies of the same uniforms, but I can't really complain since they were perfect to fight in them and also really comfortable. After changing into them I placed the kunai knife bag onto my right thigh along with the leather bota bags that held my main weapon. Water. Once I was done with clothing, I took out the long blue ribbon, then turned my massive bouquet of black hair locks into a usual tight and clean bun with two braids on each side. With one strong pull, every strand of hair on the back area was tied up. And at last, the small pink bands made their way up to each of my wrists. Now we are ready.
Well, me at least.
With a small impatient groan, I walked out of my room and went into Yusuke's where he is asleep on the bed, still wearing his usual green clothes. He was lying on his stomach while his head was turned to the side. Not to mention that gross puddle of salvia that drooled out of the corner of his mouth.
Well, that's disgusting. And I thought the green uniform thing was worse than this.
With an irritated exhale I harshly cleared my throat and prepared to do what I always practice in the School Drama Class with Mr. Yoshida. Mimic people's voice and impression.
"WAKE UP SLACKER!" I shouted into my brother's ears, imitating the voice of Genkai's as best as I can. A huge scream escaped through Yusuke's throat as he fell on the floor, flat on his face.
"Leave me alone you old bi-!" Yusuke was about to tell him off in his sleep, but I cut him off by covering his mouth with my hands. I hear his muffled nonsense breathing against my skin, but as soon as he finally caught a glimpse of my appearance, he shot daggers through his eyes but calmed down a little. Then the unexpected happened. This punk actually dared to lick my hand. I cried out in disgust before wiping my brother's DNA into his blanket with groans escaping my lips. "HA! Take that!" Yusuke yelled as he pointed one finger at me and laughed like he just did a really funny thing. However, a devilish idea popped right into my mind and hopefully, this will get me the last laugh.
"Well, if this is how you feel, then maybe I should tell Keiko about our new adventure." I threw the 'innocent' white lie into my brother's dearest's ear, making him finally shut up while his face paled, almost matching himself with the white sheets. "At least she will-!" I was cut off when I turned around and saw Yusuke's face right into my face. Our noses almost touching and he looked pissed while I just stayed blank on the outside while feeling amused on the inside.
"Don't. You. Dare!" He warned me, but I just narrowed my eyes at him. Before our sibling argument could go any further, a knock on glass was heard not far behind us. It came from my room no doubt. I walked back to my room and see Botan and . . . that emo demon standing in my balcony. I opened the door and walked out with my brother by my side.
"Are you two ready?" Our assistant asked me and Yusuke. I nodded my head in reply as my stare suddenly caught Hiei's scarlet-red orbs. At that very moment, our eyes locked into one another.
"Yea-yeah." Replied Yusuke before a huge yawn escaped through his big mouth while his pinkie found itself inside my brother's right ear. "Let's get this over with."
"Alright." Botan nodded her head. "Hop on Yusuke." She instructed as she patted the space on her paddle's shaft.
"And I guess you get three-eye little sis. Sucks for you." Yusuke mocked me as he walked over to the blue-haired girl who held a scolding look on her face.
"Hn." I scoffed before taking a few steps in front of Shadow Lord, who just jumped down from the balcony's edge and turned his back on me while crouching down. He motioned with his head to get onto his back and I just nodded and obeyed without any objections, since I don't want to waste time. I wrapped my arms around Hiei's neck while my legs were held up by his arms and I couldn't help but feel my face burning up with this strange feeling that is consuming my chest and makes my heart race a marathon. What's this feeling? Probably embarrassment because I had never been in a situation like this, let alone with a male figure. . . well . . . besides that one time. . . but that was long ago-.
"Let's go." Botan said as she and Yusuke flew away with me and Delivery Boy right behind their tracks.
As Yusuke was screaming in fright while he was holding onto that paddle with dear life, I was just looking around the city while Hiei was carrying me. Now that I think about it, I felt that warm feeling on my face and inside my chest again, making my hold on the demon boy go a little tight.
"Don't choke me woman." The demon commented rudely.
"Hmpf." I huffed as I pressed my lips together and turned away pouting like a child. However, though, I leaned closer to his back while my face was buried between his shoulder blades.
Why am I even doing this? Snuggling up to someone that is so arrogant and cold-hearted like this spiky-haired bastard. . . But for some reason, I felt. . . comfortable on his back and. . . drowsy even like I could fall asleep, peacefully within a second now. . . In reflex, I pinched myself awake. A method I had learned whenever I would almost fall asleep in class. No, I won't fall asleep. Not this time at least.
Why am I acting this way anyway?! And why do I even FEEL this way?! This is confusing. Emotions are always confusing!
Sure I felt comfortable on Shuichi when he carried me to the next Saint Beast since I was dried out of Spirit Energy. His aura was always so welcoming to me, but now with Hiei, it felt completely different. . . but in a good way. . . Why?
My war with the theories soon come to an end when I found ourselves in the gates of my well known Psychic and Elemental masters.
"What are we doing here?" I asked out loud, clearly confused about why are we even here in the first place.
"Koenma said this is where the gate is." Hiei explained it to me, as he gently placed me down.
"But why here?" I wondered out loud. "I mean he would have been able to open a portal on the spirit world as well. . ." All I received is a small scoff from Hiei.
"Don't ask your stupid questions to me, Little Detective." He replied dully, making me roll my eyes at him.
What a bonehead. Yet I can't say he is that bad either. . . Well . . . Almost to say the least. . .
I was snapped out of my trance as soon as Botan and Yusuke landed beside us.
"Oh great, we're back at the witches' house. " My brother complained. On cue the door opened before us, making Yusuke yelp in fright.
"Good, you arrived." Master Yara greeted us with her usual attitude of hers. "Come now, the others are waiting." With that, we all began to walk inside. A long walk in a hallway and another set of stone staircases later we found ourselves at a shrine or some sort, with flower pots, bowls of dried out fruits, and a small fountain with a statue with a dragon in the middle that is blowing water instead of fire while trying to catch the phoenix that was flying in the air, playfully dodging his dragon friend. In the middle, there was a small crystal orb where water was coming out of its bottom. But what caught my attention was that the beautiful fountain was surrounded by that tread like fences, similar to the ones that surround Genkai's dark forest. Only difference here is that it had many magical seals.
I've got to say, besides those seals this place looks beautiful, but it still doesn't explain why are we here. However, as soon as I stepped over those magical seals and got closer to the fountain's area I felt that familiar gut filling in the pit of my stomach. My body froze in place while my left shoulder started to warm up. . .
Like an ice cube, something hit me in the head again like. . . realization, familiarity. . . Like I had been here before. . .
"Hey, guys!" My brother greeted Carrot Top, Ruby, and Rosehead while I shook my head out of that trance and just give my friends a silent nod as my greeting.
"Good, everyone's here." Genkai spoke up as she walked up to the middle where she can look at us all. "Koenma explained everything to me in a nutshell. And before you ask, the reason you're all here is that this fountain with this statue right there is your ticket to the Realm of Zankoku. However, once you step foot into it, there is no turning back."
"What?!" Carrot Top and my brother exclaimed in shock.
"But if that's the case, how are we going to get out of there when we need to?" Rosehead asked the million-dollar question.
"I will help you with that along with the guidance through our journey." That's when the little Gem spoke up with a serious tone, which was all too new to me. My training partner always seemed to be like Botan, bubbly, joyful, and always optimistic. What I am witnessing now, is totally different. This Ruby was not only serious but her eyes, which are usually covered with sweet kindness, they were now darkened. . .
"Ruby?" I asked the water-bender girl curiously.
"In my life, I only once crossed path with that evil man and had been in that realm he is 'trapped' in many years ago." Ruby began with a grave tone as her eyes were sad and full of grief." It has many dangerous areas that are best to be avoided with numerous creatures that are beyond unimaginable. As for what I heard long ago, once you're inside Zankoku's so-called territory, there is no way out because of its magic. However. . . " The water-bender girl's explanation paused for a moment while her hand pulled out a small and red crystal orb with small black and shiny vines and flowers covering its whole surface. "This magical orb can help us with our exit, unfortunately, we can only use it once."
"Okay, not enough with the babbling, we have work to do." Yusuke exclaimed impatiently as he slammed his fist into his palm. Great, he just cut the mood down with his stupidity.
"How in the world did you ended up with an imbecile of a brother like this one?" Master Yara asked, directly from me.
"Beats me." I replied bluntly with a small shrug of my shoulders.
"HEY, LEAVE ME THE HELL ALONE, YOU TWO WITCHES!" Yusuke yelled at us, making me do another mental eye-roll.
"Stay quiet Dimwit!" Genkai finally cuts in making Yusuke and everyone shut their faces. "This is nothing like the one you all faced before, so I advise you to be careful and watch each other's backs."
"And take care of our little raindrops for us." Yara added with a toothy grin and eyes closed. At that nickname, I feel myself die in embarrassment while a huge drop of sweat rolled down from Ruby's forehead, clearly feeling the same pain as I do.
"Raindrops?" Yusuke snorted while Carrot was laughing like an idiot as always. From the corner of I see Poison Ivy covering his snickers behind his hand while Shadow Lord tried to hold it back as well, but probably on the inside while wearing a smug smirk to cover it up. I turned my head towards them with my eyes narrowed while they send daggers at those two. For good measure, I also pointed two fingers at my eyes before turning it to Shuichi and delivery boy. My gesture made Rosehead stop snickering as his face went a little pale. As for Hiei, he gave me a look that says 'I dare you'. Okay he had officially made it into my Shit-list
I glare at them. I am so going to kill those two once this mission is over. . .
"Well, guys I think that's everything." Brother Dearest concluded as he looked around himself.
"Uhhhh. . . ." Carrot Top mumbled out loud as he looked at the fountain dumbfounded. " I don't know about you guys, but now how are we going to enter that place? I mean is there a switch or anything? A button?"
I turned to the dragon statue with interest, but then a sudden hand was placed onto my left and now burning shoulder. I turned to the person, who happened to be Master Yara. With her head, she motioned for me to go there. I rose an eyebrow at that and turned to my other master who gave me a small encouraging nod.
So they want me to do give me the honour of opening it, huh?
"Okay, what's with those looks old hags?!" My brother questioned while I walked up to the fountain and look at the two statues. A dragon and a phoenix, how accurate and cheesy as hell. . .
I looked at my right wrist, then faced the orb that was the main point of all this beautiful hand-crafted marvel piece. My gut was telling me to touch that and without any hesitation, I did it with both hands.
As soon as my hands touched the cool and smooth surface of the crystal, I feel my shoulder warming up little by little.
What?
Then the crystal ball began to glow as well. The blinding light caused me to shut my eyes tight. My ears caught my friends gasp and my brother's protests. Suddenly, the wind began to pick me up and twirl me around like a leaf or a flower petal. The others' screams while I just bit my lip and hoped for the best to happen. I refused to open my eyes but looks like that was a mistake because the next thing I knew, my back hit the ground while a huge weight landed on top of me, knocking the air out of my lungs.
A groan left through my lips as my eyes opened in reflex.
Damn it with these transportations.
I looked down at myself, but all I could see is the blackness. Then a deep voice let out a small pained groan into my left ear, while the weight was lifted up. I feel my hand palms gone warm and sweaty while my face was burning. The freaking Shadow Lord was on top of me. I looked at his face dumbfounded and completely speechless. Hiei looked a little puzzled and. . . he was also blushing. Our faces were a few inches apart as our breath matched their pace with each other.
However, the moment was cut short when I regained my senses. Oh no, not this crap again!
"Get off!" I snapped at Three-eye before pushing his body off of mine and scramble away from him, keeping a good distance between us.
"Tsk." I hear him scoff before getting up onto his feet and I did the same, but still with my body turned away from him, not wanting to meet his eyes.
For the love of. . . This was awkward in more ways than one.
"Is everyone alright?" I hear Rosehead ask making me turn to him and see him help up a flustered water-bending girl back to her feet.
"Geez, what's with the teleportation?" Yusuke complained. "I swear they're doing this on purpose."
"Where are we anyways?" Kuwabara asked as he looked at something that was behind me. I turned in the same direction and now I see the dark woods, that felt cold and somewhat. . . evil. . .
"I believe we are at the Forest of Darkness." Ruby answered while my eyes went up to that castle ruin that is upon a high hill, that is resting in the middle of the forest far away.
"And that's our destination, right?" I asked with my arms crossed over my chest.
"Yes." Ruby replied firmly.
"Shall we go then?" My redheaded friend asked politely.
"Let's do this." My brother said sternly as he punched into his hand palm.
"Yeah, let's go." Kuwabara added right after before all of us walked into the depth of the woods.
"Hmm, so they're finally here." Mused the sorcerer, Zankoku, as he was watching the small group of trespassers through his staff's crystal ball. "It's been such a long time that I had guests coming for a small visit, and looks like I had lost my manners. Because I haven't greeted them properly, yet." A wide and wicked smile danced on his lips as his ice-cold orbs began to fire up along with his crown's gem and a staff-crystal ball that also began to glow brightly with energy.
