The battlefield was full of shouts and people crying out in pain, but Soren had to pay attention to his tomes, one mess up, and he could be killed or could get someone killed, two things he didn't want happening. He noticed out of the corner of his eye when he glanced up slightly that a soldier was about to throw a spear at him, but just then the soldier turned when he noticed Mia behind him, she made short work of him, knocking him to the ground easily, she then moved her arm up and brought it down in a kind of half circle, though whether she was showing off or her arm felt uncomfortable he knew not, he had never used a sword before and he didn't plan to, he was more skilled in fighting with magic, he had no reason to use a sword, it wouldn't help anything.
"Soren, you're always lost in your books! What have I said about watching your back?" Mia said almost like she scolding him, but her voice was joking and somewhat mocking, she meant no harm, only to warn him and to joke at the same time. He hadn't said anything in return, but instead smiled slightly and then got back to work.
He wondered what she thought of him sometimes…she probably thought he was a boring mage who did nothing fun, only studying. Well, today he'd show her otherwise. He stood near some trees, waiting, watching. She was soon walking toward the forest; there was this empty area she liked to practice her sword skills in, as did all the other sword wielders. He slowly and quietly walked up to her; he wasn't surprised that she hadn't noticed him yet. "Mia, you're always lost in your swordplay! What did you tell me about watching my back?" He mocks; only sounding somewhat like he was warning her. She jumped slightly and turned around, looking a bit shaken. "Hah, you got me good! But now I'm going to get you!" She says, smiling as she began chasing him. He ran quickly, and surprised himself when he laughed along with her.
"I've got you, Soren!" She calls out after what seemed like hours of chasing, pulling him back by his cape like robes when she caught up to him. Soren tripped forward and Mia let go of him a second too late. She fell on her knees and hands, and Soren fell on his hands a good few feet away from her. "You got both of us, actually." He says, turning around to face her. She burst out laughing and as did he.
I hope you enjoyed this, regardless of it being so short.
