The Trials of Parenthood
Chapter 1: Conception
AN: I do not own RWBY. So, this story is inspired by 9 Months to Live by THE LONE WANDERER. I wanted to make a story like this for a while where two characters from RWBY experience an unexpected pregnancy after an interesting night and deal with the prospect of having a kid or kids. While the inspiration is from 9 Months to Live, the story will be very different and will be more serious not that there won't be funny moments, just that this won't turn into a crack fic. I do have a plan for this story and intend on finishing it. So, buckle your seatbelts and enjoy the ride.
Ocean blue eyes open tiredly. "What happened last night?" Wondered the still dazed Jaune Arc. He blinks several times before he can get a bearing on his surroundings. "Alright first things first... where the hell am I, why do I feel so dizzy and exhausted and why do I feel weightless?" The blonde questioned. All good question in his opinion considering he was floating in a void full of mirrors. Suddenly he feels a violent tug on his body and is pulled through one of the mirrors by an invisible force. Jaune opens his eyes and sees that he is in some sort of large hallway with white pillars along the sides of pale blue walls with black candle holders on them. The candles are lit with an eerie blue flame. The floor is a beautiful white marble with a long rug with intricate floral designs. Chandeliers sway at the top the roof. The whole place feels cold.
"What is going on and man do I need some medicine. I feel nauseous and have a killer headache" Jaune spoke while walking down the corridor. Paintings also lined the hallway along the walls, they showed images of a winter tundra landscape. The whole place seemed quite high class and posh to Jaune. There are doors as well, all of them locked and wouldn't budge. He continued until he passed an open archway that displayed something the made him flinch. There in the middle of a grand room was a marble structure made to look as realistically close to a king tajitu. "What kind of a person enjoys having to stare at this as art. I mean seriously I don't get it. And what's with all the white, grey and blue... this place could use some colour." Jaune left the room after that statement and continued down the hallway.
A few minutes pass, he sees a room with a piano in it, and finally he reaches the end of the hallway where a heavy wooden door is. "And let me guess locked." Jaune mused as he approached the door. Before he could reach it, the door slowly creaked open almost beckoning him to continue. "Yeah, not happening" Jaune said as he turned around to see the statue of the king tajitu emerging from its room. It turns its heads towards the blond, glowing blue eyes burning with fury all directed towards him. It roars and barrels at him destroying the corridor with its movements. Jaune makes a split-second decision and leaps through the doorway and slams the shut on the giant snake. The shudders and shakes under the constant barrage of the monster. Jaune backs from the door never taking his eyes off it, he bumps into something and he yelps as he turns around to see a painting.
"Weiss?" Jaune questions as he sees a family painting with the girl who most definitely is Weiss albeit younger looking sad, alongside a smiling little boy with white hair and the same coloured eyes as the heiress and beside the boy a slightly older frowning girl in her teens who Jaune assumed was Wiess' older sister. Behind the children were the parents. A bitter looking woman with white hair and a man with black fading to white with a mustache. The whole family was dressed formally and was in proper positions. The painting screamed of coldness, sadness, pain and loneliness to Jaune. The blonde was about to approach the painting when he noticed something... the door had stopped shuddering and there were no more sounds of the king tajitu on the other side. He then heard something behind him. It had come from the windows on the opposite side of the family portrait.
There was no light coming through the windows it was just that same void from earlier, just darkness, it did allow the windows to act as a mirror. Everything was normal but where Jaune was in the reflection stood a knight in heavy silver armor plating over a red formal jacket and black pants. Around the chest area golden threaded cord connected both ends of a scarlet cloak with a furred hood. Jaune could not see a face as it was obscured by the knight's helmet. While the armor was an incredible piece of work, what had Jaune frozen in place were the eyes, those icy cold pale blue eyes filled with rage, pain, hatred, and despair. They filled him with dread all he wanted was to leave but he was stuck. With a quick movement Jaune found himself struggling to breath. The knight's gauntlet covered hand was squeezing the life out of him by closing off Jaune's airway. The last thing Jaune saw were the knight's eyes as he closed his and prayed it would be over soon.
...
Jaune awoke abruptly in cold sweat and breathing hard. The first thing he saw were icy cold pale blue eyes looking back to his own ocean blue eyes. His reaction was appropriate considering what he last saw.
"Ahhh!" he yelped and pushed away from the other pair of eyes. He fell to the cold hardwood floor. He heard something else fall to the floor followed by a "Hey!" from a familiar voice. He looked up and saw across from a bunk bed was Weiss in nothing but her birthday suit, he looked down and saw he was in a similar predicament.
Before he could ask or say anything, he saw Weiss look at herself then him. She shrieked grabbing the blanket off the bed to cover herself and sent a glyph towards him sending him flying into the bathroom along with his clothing.
He quickly got his boxers and pants on before Weiss returned dressed haphazardly in her gown with her rapier in hand.
"Arc you have 30 seconds to explain what is going on before I castrate you!" The heiress stated coldly.
"I have zero clue how we ended up in that bed together, all I remember is getting ready for the party and then talking to you, then I'm here!"
"The party?" Weiss questioned, then her eyes widen as she realizes "The Party!" She exclaims.
*10 hours earlier*
Weiss stood in front of her mirror in Team RWBY's dorm applying the finishing touches to herself for the senior party at Beacon. She looked herself over nodding at her choice of a simple yet elegant white dress with stockings and knee-high heeled boots to match. She glanced over at the clock in the room noting that her team had 25 minutes to get to the great hall where the party would be held. Her team as usual was pure chaos. Yang was already dressed in her outfit for the night as was Blake the only exception was Ruby because of course it was. Ruby was currently keeping away for Yang who was trying to get Ruby ready while Blake watched on from afar with amused eyes glancing back and forth from the book she was reading.
"I am not attending the party in those things you call footwear Yang!" Ruby shouted at the brawler.
"They are just heels Ruby, you act like they are the Grimm." Yang replied.
"But they are evil lady stilts that hurt my feet!" Ruby said while keeping her distance from the offending footwear.
And so, after another ten minutes of bickering all of Team RWBY was out in the hallway ready for the party. Until Wiess realized she forgot her purse. "You go ahead, I will catch up." The haired girl said as she turned around to grab her accessory. She enters her dorm room and sees that she left her purse in the closet. As she walks out of her room, she hits a wall she knows wasn't there before.
"Oh, sorry about that Weiss, actually I was looking for you. Have you seen Neptune? He said would help me with anything my outfit is missing." Jaune Arc said sheepishly while rubbing the back of his neck and looking at his outfit consisting of a red dress shirt unbuttoned over a white undershirt with black jeans and a pair of nice tan-coloured shoes to match.
"No, I haven't seen him yet, we were supposed to meet up tonight for the party." Weiss paused before continuing "Well seeing as we are both looking for him, I will take to Team SSSN's room, does that suffice?" She inquired.
"Works for me." The blonde boy replied as they set out upon their task. One short walk later and they were approaching Team SSSN's door only to stop when they see it partly ajar. The two glances at each other before opening the door to a sight that will shock them both. There in bed are both Neptune Vasilias and Nebula Violette from Team NDGO both without clothing and engaging in something quite intimate. Weiss can only stare in shock before tears form and she gets angry. Jaune is just disappointed in Neptune. The couple notice that other people are in the room. Neptune upon seeing the heiress freezes for a moment then tries to get up.
"Weiss I can explain!" were the last words Neptune said before Weiss snapped.
"We're done!" Weiss screamed as she launched Neptune out of reach via glyph and promptly marches away.
Neptune lands and stares at Jaune before asking "Jaune please you have to understand this is all one big misunderstanding you got to help me please."
Jaune just shakes his head and jogs after Weiss to make sure she was okay. After looking for a bit he finds her near the school fountain in tears. He approaches carefully to not upset her. He sits beside her on the bench making sure to keep distance between them both. He sits there for a moment before speaking.
"Weiss are you okay?"
"No of course not you dolt, why on Remnant would I be okay!" Weiss snapped at the blond.
"I honestly didn't know how to start the conversation, what are you going to do now?" Jaune replied nervously.
"I'm just going to stay here, I wish to be alone, so just leave me" The heiress said dejectedly while looking at the fountain. Jaune seemed to be lost in thought before concluding.
"I don't think it's a good idea to leave you here like this, would you consider a possible suggestion from me?"
"What would that be? Hmm?" Weiss said softly.
"I get that you're upset and that you are justified for being so, but nothing is going to change by being alone during this time. So why not just this once try something new. Hmm? Why don't we get up and leave that bastard behind and enjoy ourselves for a change? We have our party, right? Let's not ruin that for ourselves and just have a little fun!" Jaune suggested.
Weiss sat in silence for a few moments before nodding. They both got up and after allowing Weiss the time to fix her make up were at the entrance of the party. The doors opened and the duo saw that the party was in full swing. The music was blasting, the lights kept changing on the dance floor, students were dancing, people were in the middle of conversations, the party in all intents and purposes was a success.
But it was jarring for Jaune and Weiss both were more used to dances and galas respectively, but this party was neither. The music choice was unique. The great hall was filled to the brim with people. The party was wild and not exactly their styles so both decided to head for the punch bowl away from all craziness. It was comforting being in each other's presence seeing as there were so many people in attendance and their friends were somewhere in the crowd, they may have had a rocky start during freshman year but that changed after eventually as Jaune stopped asking her out and Weiss began to see Jaune's better qualities, and over the years they became good friends. Most times they would end up having to be the ones to clean up after the antics of their teams. And with that thought in mind Jaune raised his cup of punch to the heiress's own cup.
"To not having to be the poor soul to clean up after this party and to having a good time" Jaune toasted with Weiss. Both took a decent sip of the fruity beverage. But it tasted a bit different. Jaune looked at his cup with a curious eye, Weiss also noticed something.
"Does this punch taste different to you?" Weiss asked as the liquid seemed to tingle and burn slightly in her throat, not a bad feeling, just a different one. It did remind her of something, she just couldn't put her finger on it.
"Just a bit, maybe Yang bought the off-brand stuff to keep expenses down. Ruby did tell me she was low on her hair products and needed some new parts for her motorcycle." Jaune said before he took another sip.
"Yes, she did mention it" Weiss remembered as she also took another sip.
…
In another part of the hall at the party were the two heavy hitters of RWBY and JNPR along with a certain monkey faunus. Both Yang Xiao Long and Nora Valkyrie were grinning like the tricksters there were over a job well done.
"You know it was a downer when Sun didn't come through with the alcohol." Yang said while raising her eyebrows cheekily.
"Yeah, it sucked." Nora replies in a chipper voice.
"I don't get what you two are so proud of, I was the one who had to pull some strings." Sun said not at all caring for subtlety.
"Careful monkey boy or you will ruin it." The blonde warned.
"Besides how hard is it to actually pull off what you did?" Yang inquired.
"Well considering the sheer volume of what you asked me to deliver, it's damn hard!"
"It wasn't that much." Nora casually said.
"12 kegs of the good stuff, several crates of whiskey, ingredients for cocktails and other mixed drinks for everyone at the party, the punch and for some reason pancakes and maple syrup. I had to bring all that here under the professors' watch. Do you have any idea how many favors I had to cash in to accomplish this?" Sun asked after finishing his spiel.
"Alright we get it, now keep a lid on it!" Yang whisper-shouted at her fellow blonde.
"Just saying, anyway what are you gals going to do now?" Sun asked.
"I'm going to track down where my sloth ran off to. Mama has some fun planned tonight!" Nora said while rubbing her hands together with a manic smile on her face.
"Is Ren aware of this fun?" Yang asked with a knowing look.
"Not at all and that's what makes it so much fun. Life gets pretty boring without a few surprises sprinkled in here and there!" The ginger replied before receding into the crowd to capture the object of her affection.
"That's some logic I can get behind, how about you Yang?" Sun wondered.
"Oh, all will be revealed in due time my dear monkey boy, all in due time." Yang said mysteriously.
"That doesn't sound ominous, not at all." Sun joked. "Anyway, later I got a date with a certain kitty, good luck with whatever you have planned." Sun said before slinking off to find Blake.
"Well, it's time to make this a night none of us will ever forget." After the blonde brawler chugged the rest of her cup, threw it behind her and cracked her neck in preparation for what is to come.
…
Weiss was snorting and laughing harder than she had in a long time as Jaune finished his impression of one Nora Valkryie.
"Oh, gods that was *HIC* that was great, don't tell me *HIC* it actually happened?" Weiss slurred slowly.
"It absolutely happened, down *HIC* to the Maple syrup angels Nora made." Jaune replied.
"Reminds me of *HIC* the time Ruby raided the kitchen for cookies and she *HIC* spilled milk all over the floor, I was livid." Weiss replied smiling at the stupid memory. "Hey what happened to you and Pyrrah?"
Jaune choked slightly before getting his breathing under control.
"What do you mean?" Jaune asked.
"Well, I mean you and she started dating then you weren't. What happened?"
Jaune understood after a moment. "We started dating after the dance in freshman year and *HIC* during the Vytal festival and second year, it was nice, but I don't know it just didn't work out. We both wanted different things from the relationship, and it began to show us we were not as compatible as we *HIC* first thought. We eventually agreed we should end the relationship but remain good friends, we just work better that way." Jaune replied with a slight slur.
"Oh." Weiss looked thoughtful for a moment before smiling mischievously. "So, you wouldn't mind if I showed my gratitude for making this such a fun evening?" Weiss asked with an arched brow.
Jaune was confused. "What are you say-" He was silenced as the heiress leapt on Jaune with arms around his neck as she pressed her lips against is for a moment, one moment became two and two became three and eventually everything just faded into a swirl of passion and intimacy.
*The Present*
As the memories came back into mind. Both Jaune and Weiss sit next to each other on her bed. They look around at all the pieces of clothing that were scattered about and just sit there for some time.
"So, we..." Weiss tried but trailed off.
"Yeah, I think we did." Jaune nodded, "Was I your first?"
She nodded slightly with a blush "And you?"
Jaune was also red in the face as he nodded. "I have no memory of last night after the party." Jaune paused after realizing how that sounded. "Not that you are not worth remembering, uh-"
"Just give me a moment to collect my thoughts Jaune."
"You got it, keeping quiet."
After recuperating for a few moments, Weiss was about say something before she gasped putting her hands to her mouth.
"Oh gods, we can't let anyone find out about this!" She said with worried tone.
"Well, I mean it is a private matter, so yeah of course." Jaune said not really clueing in on what the heiress meant.
"No, you don't understand Jaune if the public finds out, by that I mean the news; It will cause a scandal. And that's the best of it, if my father and sister find out..." Weiss trailed off as she began to hyperventilate and panic.
Jaune grabbed the girl's shoulders to calm her down. "Weiss, I need you to calm down and explain to me what this all means, can you do that for me?" He gets up and grabs a glass and fills it with water.
She nods quickly and takes a big gulp of water from the glass Jaune offers to her.
After getting her breathing under control she looks at the blonde. "Jaune if my father finds out, he might make my younger brother the heir to the SDC and he might kick me out of the family or keep control over me never allowing me any choice in life... and if my sister finds out well, I think she might kill you."
Jaune paled several shades almost to an extent that he had the complexion of Weiss' skin tone. He slowly backed up to the wall and slid down it, he sat there wide-eyed, then he slowly started to chuckle.
"Is something funny, this is no laughing matter Jaune!" Weiss snapped.
Jaune had tears in his eyes whether they be from laughing or fear or both... probably both.
"I just realized that your sister is going to have to get into line after my mom, because if she finds out I'm a dead man." Jaune wheezed out hysterically in between laughs.
"Oh." Weiss said as she understood what he meant.
After calming down. Jaune stood up and looked at Weiss. "We will just have to make sure to keep this quiet, I assume we will talk about this later?" Jaune questioned.
"Yes, I need to process it a bit, but we will talk later about what this means and what it means moving forward for the both of us." Weiss said while looking meaningfully at Jaune.
Jaune nods. "Well, I guess let's get cleaned up and find out what else happened last night."
"That sounds like a plan." Weiss smiled while replying.
…
Beacon is known for many things. Being one of the four main huntsmen academies, possibly the best of the four. It is known for training the best of the best, the most elite professional of huntsman and huntresses came from this school. That's what both Weiss and Jaune thought when coming to this prestigious academy. Those thoughts went out the window when they got to know their fellow classmates and friends. So, it came as no surprise when the duo came across their friends in some peculiar situations all throughout the school.
The first was Nora and Ren as they were the easiest to find due to being right across the hall in Team JNPR's room. The room was a mess of clothing, pancakes, and maple syrup. At the center of the chaos was Ren and Nora fast asleep and cuddling under the blankets. Jaune decided to leave without saying a thing. Weiss was left gob smacked. Pyrrha was found on the roof shivering because she got locked out. Ruby was asleep in the kitchens with cookie crumbles all around her along with several empty jugs of milk. Blake and Sun were just having tea in the gardens, but both were trying not to bring attention upon themselves. And the only one not accounted for was Yang... that was never a good thing. They couldn't locate her by her scroll which was apparently turned off. So, with no leads both Weiss and Jaune headed for the headmaster's office.
"What do you think happened to her?" Jaune asked while riding the elevator up.
"I don't know but I'm more worried about what she did." Weiss said while shuddering.
The doors to the elevator opened as they reached the top floor. And what they saw made them very afraid. The headmaster's office was in complete disarray, the desk and chair were glued to the ceiling. Toilet paper was everywhere and burned into the carpet were various crude images. But that wasn't what terrified them, no it was the furious vice headmistress Glynda Goodwitch standing next to Headmaster Ozpin. Why was did she look like she wanted to murder someone? Well, it could be many things perhaps it was the messy state the office was in, perhaps it was the paperwork she would have to do later or perhaps it was the fact her hair was dyed sickly green.
"Hello professors, we were wondering if you could help us in locating Yang, we can't find her." Jaune asked.
The atmosphere in the room became suffocating as Goodwitch glared at mention of the blonde brawler.
"Ah Mr. Arc, Ms. Schnee now is not really a good time, as for Ms. Xiao Long I would recommend checking the infirmary with professor Peach, she is still recovering from last night's party." Ozpin replied in a careful tone.
"Thank you, professor." Weiss said. She and Jaune turned around promptly to get away from the scary headmistress.
They stopped in their tracks as they hear Goodwitch clear her throat.
"Oh yes will the two of you inform both Ms. Rose and Ms. Xiao Long that Ms. Xiao Long will be serving as professor Goodwitch's assistant in all her spare time as punishment for her actions last night." Ozpin added hastily.
The two students nod and quietly exit via elevator.
…
Walking down the corridors of Beacon towards the infirmary Weiss turned towards Jaune.
"I will let Yang and Ruby know what headmaster Ozpin told us, okay?" She inquired
Jaune nodded.
"We will talk soon, alright? You have my scroll number; I will send you a message for us to meet up to talk. Sound good?" Weiss asked.
"I like the sound of that." Jaune said while smiling.
She smiled back brightly. "Good! See you around Jaune." With that the heiress turned around and sashayed down the hallway, heels clicking on the floor.
Jaune smiled watching her walk away. Overall, he was in a good mood. Sure, things had not gone the way he expected, and he was nervous about the truth coming out about what happened between him and Weiss, but he just couldn't help but feel giddy and happy for what's to come as he watched Weiss turn the corner. He was curious about that dream he had and what it meant. Eh it was probably nothing.
A chill ran down his spine.
Jaune turned around, and there at the opposite end of the hallway was the knight from his dream. It was standing silently, watching him with those icy cold pale blue eyes. He just felt a wave of malevolence radiate from the knight. He tried to look away, tried to move, tried to breathe... but he couldn't he was paralyzed. He didn't even hear his name being shouted. He only snapped back to reality when he felt hands on his shoulders shaking him.
"Jaune! Jaune! Are you there Fearless Leader!?" Nora shouted in his face while shaking him violently by the shoulders.
"Uhh What?" Jaune replied still dazed.
"I said are you there, you have just been standing there for ten minutes staring off into space!" The ginger exclaimed.
"Uh Yeah! Just got lost in my thoughts Nora, I'm good." Jaune said while smiling and giving a thumbs up.
"You sure? You look like you've seen a ghost." Nora said looking at Jaune with concern.
Jaune chuckled nervously. "I'm fine Nora honestly."
Nora not really believing just shrugged letting it go. "If you say so, come on we have to catch up with everyone else!" Nora said while bouncing ahead with lots of cheerful energy.
"I'm right behind you!" Jaune said walking after the ginger while looking back at the other end of the corridor. Nothing was wrong, everything was where it was supposed to be.
"What the hell is going on?" Jaune whispered to himself.
