I took a little break after moving. This chapter is long and if im honest it wasnt as exciting as i initially planned as ideas ran longer than i had wanted. I will be posting the next chapter immediatley which is actually fun and exciting. Remember to like follow and review.
Chapter 9: Recovering and New Visitors
"So why did you choose this place," Sasuke asked.
"Simple its currently abandoned since Orochimaru doesn't come here anymore and there's already rooms in place. It also helps that it's away from the land of fire which I consider a major bonus," Naruto said.
"Okay well what do you plan on doing," Sasuke asked.
"Well, I plan on hiding out here only leaving if I need to and staying away from the world. Why do you not trust me," Naruto questioned raising an eyebrow.
"It's not that I don't trust you, but you seem too relaxed for what happened to you," Sasuke explained.
"I understand. Don't get me wrong I'm hurt, angry and if I'm honest I want revenge, but I saw what revenge does to people and sure I could destroy the world if I wanted to. The only person here to stop me would be you, but I would rather watch the shinobi world fall from the sidelines. One day it will happen and like I said before I won't stop it from happening. The shinobi world failed me and ruined my life. The shinobi world hurt me so many times and I've been hurt so many times I feel numb. I may hate the world, but I won't waste my energy destroying it just because it has wronged me," Naruto explained and Sasuke got a look at how much everything has affected him.
"I'm glad that makes staying here to make sure you're okay easier now that I don't have to worry about you destroying the world," Sasuke said, and Naruto laughed.
They spent the rest of the day getting everything set up. The rooms each wanted Sasuke actually picked something that wasn't just a jail cell. Once they were done Naruto and Sasuke did some light sparring so they wouldn't do too much damage or draw attention to the place.
It was nearly dark as Shion reached the gates of Konoha. She was hoping what she saw was wrong that it was all a big lie. Naruto made her a promise and he said he doesn't break his promises. She wasn't sure where to go she tried to remember the names of his friends. She thought back to her final moments with Naruto he promised her a child one day since her powers needed to be passed down. Thinking back to that moment she remembered the one kid with white eyes. He said his name was Neji Hyūga. Maybe she would be able to find his clan's compound.
She wasn't sure where to go since the village was quite large. As it grew darker, she decided to find a hotel to stay in for the night. She was worried about Naruto her visions had only been wrong once before and that time regarded Naruto as well, so she hoped this was another fluke. She slept restlessly and morning came quickly, but it allowed her to set out looking for Neji earlier than she anticipated.
She searched the village eventually finding a large compound with guards surrounding it. The area was being patrolled by men with long brown hair like Nejis and the eyes were the same! She went to the door and knocked loudly before a guard showed up asking who she was.
"Hello, I'm Shion the Priestess of the Land of Demons. I am pretty sure this may be the place Neji Hyūga resides. I'm looking for him since he helped me during a mission," Shion explained.
"Neji isn't home currently he has been spending time with Lady Hinata at her home," the guard said before giving her the directions.
She thanked the guard and moved the direction the man had said to go. She eventually found a reasonable sized house with Narutos clan symbol on it. She was confused to see his clans' symbol on the house she wondered if Lady Hinata was a friend of Narutos or who she was since it made no sense for a Hyūga to have that symbol on their home.
Shion knocked on the door before a girl with brown hair and a strip of hair that fell between the middle of her face opened the door for her. Shion noticed she was carrying a baby and had the same eyes as Neji.
"Hello, may I help you," Hanabi questioned the blonde stranger.
"Hello, yes I was told that Neji Hyuga could be found here. I need to speak to him," Shion said.
"Neji is upstairs in the bedroom two doors down on the right. Why do you need to see him? He's a family member of mine and I've never seen you with him before," Hanabi asked confused to who was randomly requesting her cousin.
"You're right you wouldn't have seen me before. I am Shion the Priestess of the Land of Demons. Neji assisted me on a mission, and I was hoping to ask him an important question," Shion explained.
"Okay he had mentioned that mission. You asked Naruto Uzumaki a funny question before they left. Well, you can go see him just knock before entering the room," Hanabi explained laughing at the bizarre request she made of Naruto back then.
Shion rushed up to the room and knocked like Hanabi said to. Neji opened the door after a minute and was surprised to see the priestess in his cousin's home. Realizing why she might be there caused him to panic.
"Shion I wasn't expecting to see you again. Can I help you with something," he asked hoping she wasn't there about Naruto.
"Is Naruto okay. I had a vision. He was hanging from a ceiling then it looked like there was a funeral. I also saw what looked like a cave that I believe is near the village. I just need to know is Naruto actually dead. He promised to help me pass down my powers and said he doesn't break promises. If he's dead he can't exactly help pass down my powers," Shion rushed her words out.
"Shion please come in and sit down on the bed. Naruto was having a lot of issues. He got married to my cousin Lady Hinata and after they divorced due to some issues in their relationship. He had fallen into a deep depression and recently killed himself. He isn't alive anymore," Neji explained trying to make it seem better than the truth.
Shion began to cry she didn't want to believe it. Naruto was so kind and happy. What happened that this Lady Hinata person and Naruto not only broke up but hurt Naruto enough to kill himself. She swore it couldn't be true her vision didn't work on him last time. Maybe they were tricked. Why did she see a cave in her vision it didn't make sense?
"What about the cave I saw," she said desperately. She was still crying it was too hard to believe. Naruto wouldn't just kill himself.
Hinata had heard crying, but it wasn't one of the twins. She also heard voices coming from the room Neji was in. Neji wasn't a social person, but it wouldn't surprise her if Lee or TenTen came to see him. Even if that was the case why is someone crying. She looked in the room and saw Neji comforting a blonde-haired girl that was wearing a yellow jacket and red pants. Hinata felt like she might know who that was. Did Neji mention the girl before maybe Naruto did or Sakura maybe. She noticed Neji was looking up at her. She motioned to the girl and mouthed who was she. Neji said Shion demon priestess.
That's why she knew who that was. Neji mentioned she had grown attached to Naruto when they were on a mission with her. However, he failed to mention that Naruto promised to give her a child. She brought it up one time with Sakura and she let Hinata know that she asked him to help pass down her power and that he accepted it. Sakura said that he probably didn't even know what she was asking of him, but Naruto wasn't one to break a promise and a simple misunderstanding like that probably means he would have helped her just to fulfill the promise. Just thinking about it was making Hinata mad. Naruto was dead now she shows up looking for him so she could get fucked. Even if he was alive Naruto would never do something like that. That would mean he would be cheating on her.
Hinata then realized how wrong she was. Naruto could have chosen to sleep with her and Hinata would have no right to be mad about it. She was the one that cheated, and they weren't together because of it. Hinata walked back to the nursery. She smiled knowing that the kids were hers and not that demon girls.
Shion hadn't noticed that Hinata was watching her in the doorway all she cared about was Naruto. She couldn't believe that he was dead. It made no sense. Once she mentioned the cave Neji agreed to take her there if it helped her gain closure. She wasn't sure if it would help or not, but she would rather try and see why she had even had a vision of it.
Neji put her on his back and left the house. Nothing against Shion, but he didn't like the idea of her being near Hinata especially after Naruto died. He understood that Hinata still loved Naruto. He left her with his kids and wasn't there to help raise them, she also loved him, but it felt like she cared more than she should. It felt wrong that she seemed to care about him so much and continued to defend him after all he had done. Either way if Shion was this upset over Narutos death and the divorce had a fair amount to do with it he thought it would be better to keep them separated.
Neji went towards the area she thought the cave was in and used the byakugan as a way to search easier. He noticed a small cave roughly two kilometers outside the perimeter. He carried her to the cave and hoped she would be satisfied once she looked around.
Shion got off of Neji's back and started to look around it made no sense for her to have a vision of a place like this. The cave was empty. She didn't notice anything out of place for a regular cave. Neji was also looking around the cave. Farther back he found that the cave dropped a bit and followed a small stream. Right before the stream he noticed a weird black splatter shaped pattern. He knelt to look at it. It wasn't anything special, but he wasn't sure what it was.
"Shion come look at this. Do you know what it might be," he asked hoping she would recognize it.
Shion did her best to figure it out, but she wasn't exactly sure what it might be. She thought it was possible that it was hair dye, but it was a pretty weird place to dye your hair.
"My only guess is black hair dye, but I'm not sure why someone would dye their hair in a cave," she said.
Neji thought it was weird as well. He activated his byakugan and looked for anything else that might be out of ordinary. He didn't notice anything in the cave, but he saw that guy traveling with Sasuke, but he wasn't with Sasuke for some reason.
"I can't find any more clues, but I saw someone coming so maybe it would be worth talking to him," Neji suggested.
Walking out of the cave Neji called out to the young man. He hadn't remembered what Hinata said his name was, but he could just ask him.
"Excuse me sir. Can I talk to you," he asked.
Naruto looked at who had called him and was glad he was suppressing his chakra. He wasn't planning on running into anyone who would talk to him, but he especially didn't want to run into any Hyūga. Even as he suppressed his chakra someone like Neji could still recognize it shadow clone or not. If he caught on now that the chakra from Kuramas shockwave had dissipated they would realize Naruto was not only alive but somewhere close enough to the village that with a few sensory ninja they could find him.
"Hello, how may I help you," Taiyo asked.
"Yes, well I was wondering you were traveling with Sasuke Uchiha correct," Neji asked.
"I am. He just sent me back in order to pick up supplies he forgot to grab when in the village," Taiyo said.
"Okay here's two more questions for you. Where are you from and did you and Sasuke stop in this cave at all," Neji questioned.
"I'm from the Land of Sky and yes when we came to the village, he had me stay here since he only planned on visiting Sakura and his friend Naruto, but we ended up staying longer when we found out he had passed away," Taiyo explained.
"I'm sorry for questioning you so much but I'm trying to figure something out. Do you dye your hair and what was your name again," Neji asked more questions.
"I am Taiyo Shorihi and I had to redo my hair as my roots began to show and I find the mix of white and black hair a little strange," Taiyo responded.
"Okay thank you," Neji said as he took Shion back to the village.
Naruto smiled and looked at the girl Neji was now carrying. He was positive that was Shion. Why was she here of all places and why were they looking into the cave he had used? Naruto decided to keep moving as well, he wanted to get back before it was too late. Even though it felt like he may need to figure out what was going on.
Reaching Hinatas house Neji put down Shion and asked what she planned on doing now. She wasn't sure herself. She would need to find a new person to help her pass down her power, but she really had wanted that to be Naruto he was perfect. Neji figured she might need to sit for a little while and rest as she figured out what to do next.
Walking into the house he saw Hinata and Hanabi sitting on the couch with the babies.
"Neji you're back! Is Shion okay," Hanabi asked not seeing Shion behind him.
"I'll be okay," she spoke up.
"I'm glad would you like anything water or tea," Hinata asked smiling at the blonde priestess.
"Tea would be nice. Thank you, Lady Hinata," Shion said.
"It is okay, and you don't need to call me that Hinata is fine," she responded.
Hinata got some tea for everyone and a tray of small snacks before coming back into the living room.
"So, I heard my ex-husband promised you that he would help you have a baby," Hinata asked.
"Yes, he seemed really excited about it. I didn't realize he had gone and gotten married and divorced so quickly though. I wish my visions didn't involve mostly death. If I knew maybe I could have had him fulfill his promise," Shion said. She didn't realize that Hinata was getting irritated as she spoke and that she needed to be careful with what she said.
"Yes, well that's a shame. He makes beautiful children," Hinata laughed.
"I noticed the babies are quite cute. They clearly inherited your hair. The girl seems to have his eyes though. He had really pretty eyes and hair. I'm curious since Neji had mentioned that you two divorced and it seemed to weigh on him quite a lot up to his death. What happened that you decided to get divorced it must have happened recently if these kids are newborns," the priestess asked.
"He beat me that's why," Hinata said coldly.
"You and I must have known different Narutos. He was so kind to me," Shion said.
"Yes, Naruto was a kind person, but he was still abusive since he was never raised correctly. We divorced and I found out I was pregnant soon after. He slowly slipped into depression since our entire village considered him an outcast after he did that," Hinata explained.
"You let him become an outcast. He was considered a hero to the world and of course he shouldn't have beat you, but I don't know how you claimed to love him when you let him become hated by his own village when you even said that he didn't know better," Shion said confused.
"You don't get to tell me I didn't love him since I couldn't protect him from the consequences of his actions. I tried to get his friends to forgive him.
We were too late after everything that had happened," she responded.
"Well from what I could tell you clearly didn't try that hard to help him if he killed himself. It sounds like I should have showed up sooner so he could have had someone who actually cared about him," Shion snapped at Hinata.
"You bitch! He was my husband and I loved him until the very end I did more for him than anyone else. Don't try and compare yourself to me when you only met him once. You just wanted him to fuck you so you could have a kid. I tried my hardest to get him to be okay again it's not my fault that he chose to kill I did my best," Hinata cried.
"Well, if that's your best it's pretty lousy. Did you ever explain to him hitting you wasn't a proper thing to do when in a relationship with someone or did you just let it happen until you decided it was enough and wanted to get payback by hurting him in the only way you could. By taking away the things he cared about," Shion yelled. She usually wasn't the type to get angry at people for things like this, but she had a bad feeling about Hinata. Naruto was dead and it sounded like she was part of the reason.
"Shion, I think it's time to leave," Neji spoke up. She agreed she came and found what she was looking for. Naruto was dead she had her answer.
"I agree goodbye," she responded and walked out the door.
"I'm sorry Hinata I didn't realize she would be so rude," Neji apologized.
Hinata was crying of course she realized Shion was partly right. Naruto was dead because of her actions, but she did try to help him she didn't do everything she could, but she tried to help him, and she nearly got everyone to forgive him or at least act like they forgave him. She told Neji it was okay and left the room.
Shion ran into the street and decided it would be best for her to return home. She hadn't noticed the people talking about her or that she was being watched by a few different people.
Naruto watched her leave Hinatas house and followed her at a distance. Somehow rumors had begun to speculate about who she was. This didn't concern him at first, but as the day had gone on the rumors of her position and powers got closer to the truth. He wasn't sure who was telling people about her, but it had gotten many people interested in her. Naruto had also noticed that some of the guest from the funeral hadn't made their way back yet. Ay and Killer Bee had been following Shion as well. Naruto wasn't sure what Bee was after, but he could guess Ay heard the rumors about her power and was going to want it in Kumo.
As Shion left the leaf village Naruto decided to make his move. If she was left unsupervised for too long it would cause her issues mainly being kidnapped. It would also be obvious if they all left the village one after the other. He decided to call out and hope that would keep Ay from making a move yet.
"Shion," he called.
"Hello, Taiyo, right? Did you need anything." Shion asked.
"Yes, but we need to get somewhere safe to talk. People are going to try to kidnap you," he said.
"And why would I trust you? What if you're the one trying to kidnap me. We only spoke once for a minute," she said keeping on guard.
"Shion don't say anything and keep calling me Taiyo. I'm Naruto. I know I look different I dyed my hair and am maintaining a transformation jutsu. I'll explain more, but we need to get somewhere safe," he insisted hoping she believed him.
Shion was surprised and really confused. She had a feeling he was still alive but hearing someone who looked nothing like Naruto say that was making her weary. Then Naruto quickly dropped his transformation jutsu, she saw his blue eyes and the whiskers she was used to. He quickly put the jutsu back on as she wrapped him in a hug.
"Do you trust me now," he asked her.
"Yes! Yes, I do. I had a vision that you died, and I saw the cave from earlier. I couldn't believe it, so I made the trip it took a few days, but I made it eventually and I," she said before Naruto cut her off.
"I'm glad to see you, but like I said we should get somewhere safe before talking," Naruto said.
He looked around the area and noticed that Ay and Bee were hiding back near the gate. Naruto knew he had to be careful with Bee around. If he didn't pay attention to controlling his or Kuramas chakra Bee and the eight tails could notice. They turned back to go in the village and leave from a different way. Once they made it back into the village and past Ay and Bee, they moved a bit quicker to keep their distance from the other two.
It took a few minutes, but they were able to lose the two and disappear out of the village. Naruto had gotten some extra supplies and food when in the village as well. Wanting to get far away from the village he put Shion on his back and activated sage mode, so he didn't alert Bee to Kuramas chakra. He held onto Shion as tight as he could and moved as quickly as possible. After traveling for a little while he slowed down. They were getting close to the hide out and wanted to make sure no one had managed to follow them. He was happy to see no one had and went to the hideout putting Shion down.
He led Shion down the hall and to a small room. He wanted to explain everything to her. He could tell she was still confused, and she seemed a bit sad. As the clone disappeared the real Naruto showed up as he had been monitoring the clone and once, he knew the clone was with Shion he had been waiting for them to return.
"Are you okay," Naruto asked as he sat down and gestured her to do the same.
"Today has been really strange. I thought you died, so I came to your village, and everyone thinks you're dead. I talked to Neji, and he confirmed it we went to that cave, and we saw you like this, but we didn't know it was you. We went back to your ex-wife's place, and she said that you two divorced because you were abusive and that you died after getting depressed. Her and I got into an argument about her actions, and I blamed her for not trying hard enough to protect you. After that I was trying to leave, and you tell me people are trying to kidnap me and that you're alive," she explained nearly crying since she was so overwhelmed.
"So, you ran into Hinata. Well, you were partially right I did kill myself or I tried to. After that I decided to disappear because she caused the entire shinobi world to hate me. I didn't beat her. She cheated on me with one of the guys who is likely trying to kidnap you since he had been following you. Hes from a village that likes to collect people who have unique abilities that can be passed down such as your powers. As well as Hinatas byakugan. He tried to kidnap her when she was a kid then she slept with him about nine months ago probably to obtain the byakugan for the village by having a kid with her. She fell for It and then lied when I caught them. After that I fell into a depression eventually tried to kill myself and got to the point where I decided to fake my death and leave the village. Hinata caused me a lot of problems because of her lying," Naruto explained.
Shion looked at Naruto got up and sat in his lap wrapping her arms around his neck. He was surprised at first but once she had settled in his arms, he held her waist. They stayed there like that for a few minutes enjoying the comfort of each other. Naruto had grown more used to being attacked than touched in any gentle manner. Shion was just glad he was alive. She was terrified when she had her visions and finding he was okay made her so happy. She of course remembered his promise, but all she wanted now was to make sure he was okay. Hearing what happened to him made her so angry.
"I'm sorry you had to go through with all of that, but I won't treat you like she did," she promised him.
"It's okay. You know you don't have to promise me anything. If you wanted me to get you pregnant and leave, I would understand," he said.
"Don't say things like that. Yes, you owe me a child, but I want to be with you. I wanted that when I first asked you back then I don't plan on leaving when you're hurting so much," she admitted.
"Well id be more than happy to let you stay with us," Naruto said.
"Who else is with you," she asked.
"It's just me and my best friend Sasuke. Hes the only one who knows I'm alive other than you," he said.
"Well, when do I get to meet your best friend," she questioned.
"Soon he is out hunting right now, but he should be back tonight," he said.
After the initial meeting Sasuke and Shion grew to trust each other to take care of Naruto. They were forcing him to eat and doing their best to help him with his new trust issues and urge to destroy the world. After a week Naruto got a little overwhelmed by their care which he did appreciate but wasn't used to, so he decided to go handle business with the toads.
He summoned a smaller toad named Gamamichi. He was light orange with blue eyes and a yellow belly that wore a vest with a fur collar, headphones and a necklace and had his front legs wrapped in bandages. Naruto wanted to get reversed summoned back to Mount Myoboku so he could cancel the contract with them. He was supposed to be dead, and Naruto didn't want them to get a bad rep due to his current reputation.
"Naruto where are you," Gamamichi said looking around.
"I'm right here. Sorry I look so different. Could you go back, and reverse summon me," Naruto asked.
Gamamichi was very confused. They were told Naruto committed suicide which had confused them greatly, but now he had been summoned by someone claiming to be Naruto but looked nothing like him.
"Slow down real quick. What happened we were told you were dead. And you don't look anything like Naruto," Gamamichi said.
"I faked my death and changed my appearance let me drop the transformation jutsu and you'll see my whiskers and eyes. My hair will still be black since its dyed though," Naruto explained as he dropped the jutsu.
Gamamichi looked at Naruto and agreed he had the summon, the whiskers, and blue eyes. He wasn't sure why the acclaimed hero decided to fake his own death, but he figured he was planning on explaining it when they got to Mount Myoboku.
Looking satisfied he disappeared and summoned Naruto to the toad's homeland.
Naruto began to walk through the mountain area towards Ma and Pas place he wanted to know what they have been told and explain the situation himself. He hoped they would believe him as they always had, but he was also supposed to be considered a hero of the world and that clearly didn't help him stay liked. Once he arrived, he knocked and was told to come in my Pa.
Pa was shocked to see him they were told he had died. They had also been told the circumstances that led to his death and were shocked to hear about it.
"Naruto my boy is that you," Pa asked just to be sure.
"It is. Can I talk to you," Naruto asked.
"Of course. We thought you were dead. What happened. We need to tell Tsunade, so they know you're safe," Pa said.
"No please don't. I faked my death. I wanted to know what you were told about my death did they tell you what had happened prior or did Tsunade just send Katsuyu to tell you I died," Naruto questioned.
"They told us everything that led up to your supposed death my boy. We couldn't believe what we heard," Pa admitted.
"Well, let me explain my side of the story because what they told you was a lie. Then I can tell you why I came here," Naruto said. He then went on to explain everything that had happened to him in the past year.
"I see. Well, I believe you. Where were all your friends during this. No one supported you after everything you did to help this world," Pa questioned.
"Many of them sided with Hinata. I was always seen as a nuisance and monster more than a person. Sasuke was out of the village however and he has been with me since I left trying to make things better. Konohamaru is also out of the village. From what I know he was training to become a monkey sage. I don't know if he is having trouble with the training or if he's just taking more time than I did when training here, but since he wasn't home, he probably doesn't know what happened," Naruto explained.
"How awful. Why don't you try and prove your innocence though," Pa asked.
"I don't see the point. They showed me how easy it is for them to turn on me. They didn't care they wanted me there to protect them, but they didn't care about me. It took them no time to shun me like they did when I was a child and forced to become a jinchuriki. They have forgiven worse crimes from other people, but Hinata accused me of abuse, and everyone believes her without question because they never liked me," he explained. Naruto wouldn't admit it and Pa wouldn't bring it up, but they both heard the pain and sadness coming from his voice.
"I'm so sorry my boy. You deserve better. Now you said that you came here for another purpose. What did you need," Pa questioned.
"Thank you. I came here to explain to you what had happened the past few months. I also wanted to cancel my contract with you guys. I don't want my reputation to hurt yours and since you have an allegiance with Konoha I believe it would be a good idea to get someone new as your summoner," Naruto explained.
"I understand my boy. I don't think a dead man's reputation will hurt us but if it's what you want, I understand. I'll bring Gama here so we can officially cross you off then we'll send you on your way. And Naruto I want you to understand no matter what you're welcome here. We have all learned to love and care about you over the years and we are glad to call you a Toad Sage," Pa said before leaving to get Gama.
Naruto thought on his decision. He had already loss everything else, but it was nice that Pa believed and accepted him after everything he had been accused of. Losing his summons would be upsetting, but hurting their reputation due to being in league with him would hurt him more than losing the ability to summon them.
Once Gama showed up, they crossed him off the summoning contract. The rest of the toads noticed the commotion and began to say their goodbyes Ma had just gotten home and after hearing what was going on decided if he was leaving, they could have a feast. Naruto still wasn't a fan of the food but spending time with all the toads was worth it. Gamabunta had trouble saying anything, but eventual wished him well. Gamakichi tried his best to stay cool but was a bit emotional saying his goodbyes. They watched each other grow up and seeing Naruto leave a hard reality to watch unfold. Once the feat was over and everyone said goodbye, they had one of the toads go through the Distant Body Water so they could summon him so he would be near Konoha. From there he was on his own.
Naruto reached the hideout and found Shion up waiting for him. He crawled into bed with her and held onto her. He still had trust issues and felt guilty about being in bed with another woman, but he knew he deserved to be happy and Hinata cheated on him they weren't together he had no reason to feel guilty. It would take time, but he knew he would eventually grow to love Shion like she loved him. They spent the next few months continuing to grow, and Naruto was getting better.
After three months Hinata was getting worried. The twins were growing well but changes as they grew older were making it hard for her to keep up her lie. Himawari was definitely Narutos. She had his beautiful blue eyes and two whiskers on each cheek. Nikko however was getting a bit dark as his skin changed. He also had lost the blue hair he was born with and was growing blonde hair but not Narutos blonde and he didn't have any whiskers or blue eyes like Naruto his were black.
Some people were starting to question Narutos claim. Hinata was growing more depressed since Naruto had died, and it was only getting worse lately as Nikko started to show features that didn't belong to Naruto unless his dads side had a more varied blonde than just bright yellow. Hanabi was starting to think that it was time to do what Naruto suggested nearly five months ago.
Shikamaru and Ino had also noticed that Nikko wasn't exactly what they expected from a child of Naruto and Hinata. They were beginning to suspect that Naruto wasn't lying and if that were the case they really fucked up.
Konohamaru was finally home. Naruto made it sound like learning sage mode was easy, but he had spent nearly a year learning how to properly summon the monkeys and earning the trust of Monkey King Enma. After that he was taught how to use sage mode and began his training to master the fighting techniques of the Monkey King. It was a year and 4 months before he was finally returning to the village. Enma was reluctant to trust Konohamaru even if his grandfather was the third Hokage and his previous summoner. Enma decided to trust in him if he could prove himself by training his body along with his mind through many tedious tasks. Konohamaru believed it was worth it as he had grown much stronger, and he hoped Naruto would be impressed by his improvement. He also hoped he could impress Hanabi by beating her in a sparring match.
He went to Narutos new house and hoped he wasn't out on a mission. When he got a response, he was shocked that Hanabi opened the door. He thought they Hinata must have invited her family over for lunch or that Hanabi decided to visit.
"Konohamaru! I didn't know you were back. When did you get home," Hanabi asked.
"I just got back I was coming to visit Naruto. I wasn't expecting to see you here though," he said. Hanabis excited expression faded when he said that. She forgot he hadn't been around for so long that he had missed everything that had happened.
"Konohamaru I have some bad news. We should go somewhere to talk a lot had happened since you left to train," Hanabi admitted.
"Oh okay. Is Naruto okay," Konohamaru asked raising an eyebrow.
"I'll explain everything let's just get out of here," she said hurriedly.
He nodded and followed her lead. He wasn't sure where they were going but hoped everything was okay. It had been a long time since he had been home but if anything, bad had happened he was sure to have been told by now. They walked to an old spot in the woods they would hang out at after sparring each other.
"Konohamaru, Naruto... Naruto is dead," Hanabi said bluntly.
"What do you mean dead. Who killed him? Was it Sasuke? I never trusted that guy. Did he show up in the village and attack? Did Naruto have to defend the village and sacrifice himself to win," Konohamaru questioned quickly before Hanabi cut him off.
"There was no attack. Naruto killed himself. A lot happened when you were gone, and he was shunned by the village again after he was caught beating Hinata," Hanabi said but Konahamaru wasn't listening. He was stuck on Naruto killing himself. Why would he do that?
"Why would he kill himself. He was the greatest ninja ever. He finally had everything he ever wanted. He had Hinata, respect, he was expecting a child, everyone loved him. I don't understand. Why would he do something like that," he questioned. He last talked to Naruto before he left, and Naruto had been so happy. He was expecting a child he had friends that loved him and was about to have a family he could call his own. That's all he ever wanted it made no sense for him to kill himself after getting everything that he ever dreamed of.
"Sit down and I'll explain everything from the beginning," Hanabi said trying to get him to calm down.
Once he finally sat down Hanabi was able to tell him everything that had happened. She added that she thought the miscarriage might have been the reason Naruto started to beat Hinata, but she could tell Konohamaru wasn't happy with her explanation. He clearly struggled to believe his hero would ever do something like that.
"Naruto worshipped her. There was no way he hit her. He said she cheated and no one for a second thought that he was telling the truth. They just believed your sister because she loved him for so long. Naruto was never a person who would hurt someone he cared about. He knew he couldn't risk that type of behavior. He was too scared to do that. He would never do something that could cost him his friends. He was too scared to lose them after everything he had to do to gain their companionship Naruto would never go so far to actually hurt Hinata on purpose and he wouldn't say she was cheating unless he was sure of it. Why didn't you guys hear him out and check his story," he explained with disbelief that so many would turn on him after everything he did for them.
"Konohamaru there was evidence that she was being beat. She had bruises covering her their room was beat up. He had no way to prove his story. Come on you don't actually believe we did nothing to make sure he was guilty. And like I said things changed after the miscarriage my sister had. She was acting weird when Naruto was away like she was worried that he was watching her or something," Hanabi explained.
"Fine there was more evidence for her story than Narutos, but how about checking to see if she was lying it didn't sound like anyone actually investigated this. It feels like everyone was just waiting to turn on Naruto. And if Naruto said she was cheating and when he was gone, she was acting worried. Clearly, she was scared of being caught. Naruto wouldn't have killed himself if he was actually guilty, he would never take the easy way out and escape his punishment like that. He was clearly hurt," Konohamaru explained. He was shocked Hanabi a genius of the Hyūga clan couldn't see the truth in front of her.
"Or Naruto killed himself because he was guilty and being shunned brought up bad memories of him as a child," Hanabi suggested.
"Hanabi Naruto was used to being alone and prepared to be alone again. It may have scared him, but he ready to be alone again if he lost everything. Loneliness wouldn't have killed Naruto, and neither would guilt. He would stay alive just to punish himself if he were guilty. Naruto was hurt. Hurt because your sister cheated on him then manipulated everyone to hate him again and that he was right about everyone being willing to turn on him since they hated him. I guess all the visual prowess in the world can't help you see through lies," he said walking off and leaving Hanabi stunned.
Walking back, she thought maybe he was right. Naruto used to punish himself over the smallest things when it came to Hinata. He was always proving himself and was ready to die at any moment just to prove himself to the village. He was adamant about Narutos innocence. Naruto also mentioned using the Byakugan to see if Hinata was lying and Nikko didn't have a striking resemblance to his father.
Ay was tired of searching for the Demon Priestess. He was going behind Daruis back, but it was what was best for the village. The leaf was too strong of a power on their own. They may have lost Naruto but having Sasuke the current strongest ninja in the world backing them up among wood release users and the Hyūga clan not to mention their Hokage being one of the greatest ninjas of his generation who was a genius and incredibly strong even without his sharingan. The leaf was extremely powerful and if the other villages could manage to even the odds with the Demon Priestess they should. He hoped that he could visit Hinata without raising suspicion this would also allow him to check and see if the twins were his since he didn't bother the last time he visited during the funeral.
Knocking on the door to Hinatas house he hoped she would answer. After a moment the door began to open, and he got lucky as Hinata Hyūga stood in the doorway. She looked shocked that he was there, but it couldn't be that crazy as they were once lovers.
"Why are you here," she asked glaring at him.
"Why are you glaring at me like that. I simply came to visit an old friend," he said slyly
"I don't believe you and you can't visit. It will only cause problems for me," she said.
"Don't be like that Hime. You used to enjoy my company so much what happened," he asked.
"Well let's see we got caught I had to cover for us by turning the entire world on Naruto and because of that the best man I have ever had the pleasure to know is dead. And if I never fell for your charm none of that would have happened. I wouldn't be here mourning my ex-husband and feeling guilty after everything we did to help cause this, so that's what happened now get out of here," she spat at him.
"Hinata sweetheart you enjoyed every moment we spent together or did you already forget. And if I remember correctly, you said you loved me back then and were beginning to regret your relationship with Naruto, so I don't think it's fair to blame me especially since I just did what you wanted. I also had nothing to do with your cover story. You were the one who chose to lie. If you loved him as much as you claim you did why do you continue to lie to save yourself," Ay said as he walked into her home.
No one was home so he was safe to talk as loudly as he wanted without anyone else hearing them. He walked into the living room and automatically noticed two babies laying in little swings. Looking at them made him extremely happy. He knew the boy was his it was obvious when looking at the two side by side. He had the same hair and eyes even the skin complexion was close to his.
"Why are you here Ay? My sister will be back soon," Hinata questioned.
"Well, I wanted to ask you a question or two. First, I have been looking for that Demon Priestess that showed up after Narutos funeral. I haven't been able to find her anywhere and was wondering if you knew where she might be? My second question seems to be answered. It seems you did birth my child after all. Did you not plan on telling me," Ay questioned as he smiled.
"I haven't seen her and no I wasn't planning on telling you since I wasn't sure if my child was yours or Narutos," she admitted.
"Have you seen the black-haired man that was accompanying Sasuke Uchiha? You know its rude to deny a child their father," he said.
"I haven't seen Taiyo either. And I don't really care if you think its rude, I was hoping neither were yours, but I can't deny that Nikko is yours even if Himawari isn't. Either way you're not taking him so get out of here," Hinata said.
"Thats a shame I was really hoping you would know where he was and if I want to take Nikko I will you couldn't stop me even if you tried. It also helps that I could just come out and claim that he was mine and that Naruto was telling the truth. What do you do then," he questioned.
Hinata wasn't sure what to say. She wasn't sure if she could just give up Nikko, but she also didn't know how to stop him. If he did confess her entire world would be brought down even if she deserved that she wasn't sure if she could stand losing everyone. Losing Naruto was bad enough due to her own failures losing everyone else because of them would be even worse.
"Just fake a struggle. I already lost Naruto I can't lose all my friends because of this. Knock me out and take Nikko," she said crying.
Ay didn't hesitate. Hinata screamed then Ay knocked her out letting her drop to the floor and picked up Nikko wrapped him in his one arm and left the building. Noticing the scream people were looking at the house but he quickly left the building from the upstairs balcony and began to leave the village. He didn't know he was seen though as Hanabi had watched him go into the house on her way back from talking to Konohamaru. She had waited outside using her byakugan to see what had happened. She wasn't sure what was going on inside it looked like they were talking then Hinata was hit and fell to the ground.
Hanabi quickly moved to let the guards know. She doubted she could take down the former raikage by herself and letting the guards know to be on the lookout let them prepare for when he attempted to leave. After letting the guards know she ran back to check on Hinata and the other baby.
"Hinata wake up," she said tapping her sisters face.
Hinata slowly woke up to see her sister looking down on her.
"Are you okay Hinata," Hanabi asked.
"I think I'm fine. Wait what happened to the kids," she said attempting to get up.
Hanabi stopped her before saying, "Nikko was taken, but I think you screaming saved Himawari. I have the wall guards searching for Ay right now."
"Okay that's good," Hinata said.
"What happened Hinata why was he even here," Hanabi asked.
"He wanted to know where Shion was since he said we were the last people seen with her before Sasukes friend Taiyo disappeared with her. He then took advantage of the situation and decided to try and kidnap Himawari and Taiyo since they could have the byakugan. After that I tried to resist, but I knew I couldn't fight him, so I screamed and he knocked me out," Hinata explained to her little sister.
"Lady Hanabi Ay managed to get past us. We are informing the Hokage of the situation and he will take it from there," a random guard said as he stepped into the house and immediately left once, he was done.
"We'll catch him. I promise," Hanabi said trying to comfort Hinata.
AN
A new chapter i know its been a while, but i took a small break. I thought this chapter was going to be a bit more entertaining but it ended up being longer than i had mapped out so the next chapter will be the one with all the real action.
Anyone wondering about Konohamaru i had forgotten about him since where i was in the anime as i wrote this story he is pretty much never in episodes, but someone sent me a PM and suggested this idea and i liked it. It also allows me more exciting possibilities with the final fight.
Thank you for reading remember to like follow and review the story. Feel free to PM me if you have questions or want to give me suggestions.
Until next time, Bye!
