"I'm sorry, but I don't quite understand..." Zelda said, staring down at the white haired little girl.
"Maybe you aren't the real Princess after all," The girl said walking off and jumping back onto her chair to read papers off of the table.
"I'm sorry, but I see impa and then take a look at you..." Zelda said weakly. "It's just hard to imagine that your Purah..."
"You're not exactly clean either. Your a Hylian and you haven't aged a day. At least the Sheikah technology explained it for Link. But your sealing powers? Do they have non aging affects when in use? It has some bearings too it, I'll have to study it later..."
"Study it?" Zelda said, her eyes wide, taking a step back. Purah jumped and did a twirl, striking a pose.
"Snippity snap! That's exactly what I had said. Linky give me a good snap!"
"Snap!" Link called from where him and Symin, one of Purahs assistants, were looking through books. At least, Symin was looking through books. Link was listening, half heartedly, to Symin explain interest once again in the Sheikah Slate.
"As interesting as that may be, unfortunately I can't feel my power anymore. Most of it feels gone..." Zelda said quietly to Purah. "I told Link it was just weakened but... I can't feel it at all anymore as the days go by..."
Purah looked at Zelda for a moment before responding.
"And that affects Link how?" Purah asks. "Seems illogical to keep that kind of information from him. Moreso, I don't understand why you feel you need to."
"Because! What if he doesn't take me on any adventures? It's different than before... There's more monsters out there, but I want to go and explore! I want to learn about this new land! Especially if I'm going to rule over it again..."
"Now now, Princess. While I still call you that, it's just like Impa said. You're not a princess here. Link, if he's not too dumb, recognizes that. Look at what your wearing! Power or not, I believe you are worrying too much. Now shoo shoo! I have some projects that need attending too, if you find ways to make rupees donate them here. SYMIN STOP TALKING TO LINKY AND GET BACK TO THAT PROJECT. LINKY, OUT!"
Zelda, surprised, hurried out while Link put his hands behind his head and walked normally out.
"Linky," Purah called out. Link turned and looked at her. She gave him a stern look.
"Take care of her... She's got a lot to learn out there. Don't you baby her like you used too. Shes gotta learn."
Link dropped his hands and looked at Purah for a second before responding.
"Right..."
"That was weird of her! Shes never thrown us out like that before!" Zelda said, as Link walked out the door, passing her and now leading her down the hill.
"What was that about?" She asked, walking faster to walk by Links side.
"She's following her own advice." Link said. She's treating you as if you were me. A normal girl. She's busy, she doesn't have too much time to waste on us. If she still treated you like royalty then she wouldn't be following what you have set for yourself. Learning to be a normal Hylian."
Zelda thought about that.
"I-I guess you're right..."
Link chuckled.
"Come on, you remember her from way back when. You should've expected that one."
Zelda gave Link a look before chuckling with him.
"I guess you're right. So what did you say the rest of the plan was?" Zelda asked, putting her hands behind her back.
"It depends, Princess." Link said, intentionally calling her princess. Link stopped and looked over out towards the sea the cliff Purahs lab sat next too. "What do you actually want to do?"
Zelda stared at Link, who was still looking over the sea, giving him a quiziting look.
"Why do you mean Link?" She asked.
"It's different out there than before. There are three different types of people in this new Hyrule. There are the Hylians who play it safe, keeping to the village, living quiet lives. You can learn to be a true normal Hylian here, living in Hateno. There's also the travellers. Who go village to village, trading and meeting the other races, learning business and living that way. It's a bit more rough but its livable You'll get to see all of Hyrule that way..."
Link stopped and sat down on the grass, still overlooking the sea. Zelda walked and stood behind him.
"You mentioned three different Hylians... what's the third?" Zelda asked. Link responded without turning to face her.
"There's me, who lives mainly out in the wild, camps, explores, and keeps Hyrule safe by defeating all the monsters. I get into dangerous situations, I fight, I survive. Of course, I wouldn't want you to get hurt. And I really want you to be safe. The old me would have never even considered this... But..."
Link stood up and stared into the Princesses eyes, the light of the sun shining behind him. Zelda looked into her shining knights eyes.
"You've never got to make your own choices. I remember how your father forced you into a role. I need to protect Hyrule still, Ganon's effects are still lingering, and there are still many secrets for the 'Chosen Hero' to discover. If you would like to join me... I won't stop you. I can teach you everything you need to learn. You'll get hurt... and I'll hate seeing that. But I also know you're strong."
Link stared into Zeldas emerald eyes. Zelda smiled softly at him.
"You know what my answer is going to be Link." She said softly. Link looked at her and sighed, looking down at his boots.
"I know... I guess I kinda hoped you would wanna stay here where it's safe."
Zelda stepped forward a bit to where she was right in front of Link, looking up a bit at him.
"I've got to learn about everything in Hyrule, whether I take over or not. I've got this power for a reason, same reason you've still got that sword on your back. My work isn't done. We're not just knight and princess now. We're a team."
Zelda took one of Links hands and held it in both of hers.
"Yes, I'll probably get hurt, bad things will probably happen. But... you said it yourself at that gate. We're travelling as best friends... not my Knight. You won't be thrown in a dungeon if I get hurt. Besides..."
Zelda leaned in just a bit closer.
"Like you would ever allow me to get too hurt anyway. If anything Ima have to force you to let me get hurt and dirty a bit." She chuckled. Link frowned and then chuckled along with her.
"You're not wrong. Okay then. That settles what we're going to do today then. But you have to promise me something."
"Okay, Link, what is it?" Zelda said smiling at him.
"Don't do anything too reckless alright?" Link asked. Zelda stared into Links face before bursting out laughing. Link looked confused.
"Wha-Hey! I'm serious!" Link said, getting frustrated.
"I know, I know, my apologies Link... It's just, you really are the last person who should be saying that honestly." Zelda said, holding a hand to her chest, controlling herself. She took a breath in and a breath out.
"Alright Link. You have my word. I won't do anything too reckless." She said, placing her hands behind her back. Link sighed and started walking down the path towards Hateno once again.
"When do you wanna start your training?" Link asked. Zelda blinked a few times before running to catch up.
"What? Training? Training for what?" She asked curiously. Link looked at her.
"Training to survive in the wild." Link said.
"REALLY?!" Zelda said, her eyes glowing. "Yes what's the first thing I get to learn!"
Link smiled and looked over at her.
"Picking apples."
