Zelda's eyes fluttered open as the sunlight beat down upon them. She instinctively moved her arm to cover her eyes but winced at the soreness. Confused at the sudden pain she slowly pushed herself up into a sitting position and looked at her arms. Burn marks traveled up and down them. Zelda gave a confused look before being distracted by a voice calling out.
"Princess! Why, you're alright! How are you feeling? You're up earlier than expected." A tall female Zora said. Zelda blinked.
"Beg my pardon but... Where am I? Am I at the Domain? Where's Link?" Zelda asked in a row, looking for her blue clad friend. The female Zora smiled nervously.
"Well Princess, yes you are at my home, Zora's Domain. You and Link had been travelling and unfortunately, you were struck by an Electric Wizzrobe. You took a hard hit..."
Zelda furrowed her eyebrows before vaguely recalling a light and a shocking feeling. A Wizzrobe? That's what that was? Zelda glanced back at the burns at her arms. That explains a lot. Zelda sighed as she turned back towards the Zora.
"Have you been taking care of me?" Zelda asked. The Zora nodded.
"Yes, Princess. My name is Kodah, one of the owners of the Seabed Inn. It's a pleasure to meet the Princess of old." The Zora said bowing. Zelda however, shook her head.
"Please, just refer to me as Zelda. I haven't been going by my Royal title as of late... How long have I been at rest?" Zelda asked, reaching for the Sheikah Slate, however, it wasn't on her belt.
"You arrived late last night. Your meeting with King Dorephan has been postponed. Link has already talked to-"
"Where is he? Link?" Zelda asked. Kodah gulped.
"Well... You see Prin- Zelda..."
"Princess Zelda! Why there was no doubt in my mind that you would come too sooner than expected!" A loud, happy tone rang through the Inn. Zelda turned, her eyes growing wide at the Moblin sized red Zora walkinging into the Inn, his arms outstretched as if he were about to hug her.
"It is wonderful to see you again! We have much to catch up on." He said happily. Zelda blinked a few times.
"I'm sorry, I don't mean to be rude... But have we met before?" Zelda asked curiously. The Zora stared down for a moment before laughing.
"Now, I assure you that you know who I am!" The Zora boomed. "You even came to visit my sister and I right when she became a Champion. I haven't changed that much since then!"
Zelda stared for a few more moments before her eyes, yet again, grew wide.
"Sidon!?"
"Tis I!" Sidon shouted with glee. "It's wonderful to see you again Princess. You haven't aged a day!"
"I couldn't say the same to you! I would've mistaken you for a Moblin at your size!" Zelda said with a newfound smile. Finally, a face other than Link and Impa she could recognize. Sidon smiled as he pulled up a chair. Zelda swore she saw a twinkle in his teeth as he did.
"As much as I'd like to ask other questions, the important ones must be addressed first." Sidon said. "How are you feeling? Are you in too much pain?"
"I feel fine, Sidon, really. A bit sore, if I must be honest, but fine nonetheless." Zelda said, dismissing her scars as unimportant. Sidon nodded.
"That is good to hear, Princess. Link must've used that Fairy on you at the perfect time." Sidon said. Zelda however frowned.
"Speaking of Link, once again, where is he?" Zelda repeated. Sidon faltered before awkwardly smiling.
"W-Well you see Princess... Link is... well..."
"Link! For the love of Hylia, get down from there!" Zelda called out for the umpteenth from the center of the Domain. Zelda stared upwards at the top of the domain as she watched Link roll out of view on top of the Shining Fish building. Zelda brought a hand to her eyes as she slid it down her face. She turned back to Sidon, who had been standing behind her.
"How long has he been up there?" Zelda asked. Sidon, scratched the top of his shark shaped head with his finger.
"Probably since late last night...?" He said.
"Late last night!? It was raining last night! He's probably cold up there! LINK! I SWEAR ON MY SEALING POWERS, COME DOWN FROM THERE!"Zelda yelled, stamping her foot on the stone floor.
No response. Zelda fumed.
"What on Hyrules grounds is wrong with him?" Zelda mumbled. She shook her head and walked away, getting lost in her thoughts as Sidon followed.
"If I may, Princess," Sidon said, coughing to clear his throat. "I believe Link feels... Guilty at the moment."
"Guilty?" Zelda asked, spinning on her heel to face the Zora. "Guilty for what? The lightning attack? How is this his fault? He got hit too. It snuck up on both of us!"
"While that may be true, that would still cause him to feel a bit guilty." Sidon said. "There may be a bit more to it as well..."
"What else could it possibly be?!" Zelda asked loudly, getting frustrated with Sidons vague answers. "Something goes wrong, Link feels bad. Something goes wrong, Link feels bad. Its a cycle, and he never wants to open up about it!"
"A better question to ask yourself would be if you really see your Knight up there as 2-Dimensional as you describe him to be?" Sidon said, getting frustrated with Zelda's attitude towards Link. Zelda seemed taken aback.
"Excuse me?" She asked. "I do not see Link as... 2-Dimensional! I very well understand that he is a human being with emotions-"
"Then wouldn't you think that maybe, just maybe, there might be a bit more under the surface that he hasn't told you?" Sidon asked, crossing his arms.
"He tells me everything!" Zelda called. The Zora children in the distance had stopped playing, along with other Zora in the Domain taking an interest in the conversation the two Royalties were having. Zelda and Sidon however, didn't seem to care.
"Are you sure about that?" Sidon said. "My sister was one of Links best friends, and he didn't tell her everything-"
"Well I'm not Mipha and I never will be!" Zelda screamed loudly. "Whatever relationship he had with her I can't compete with! But she's gone now!"
Zelda covered her mouth as quickly as she could. That outburst wasn't about Link's emotions. Sidon sighed, looking around at the Zora now surveying them.
"Nothing to see here! Just two old friends having a chat! Please carry on with your day!" Sidon called out with a smile. The Zora, listening to their Prince, immediately turned to carry on their duties. Sidons smile vanish as he turned back to the comparatively small Hylian girl in front of him.
"Come with me Princess." He said simply as he walked down a flight of stairs. Zelda, reluctantly now that she felt awkward, followed. Zelda followed until the two stood in front of the Ice statue of Mipha. Zelda's heart sank.
"My sister loved Link." Sidon said, as he stared up at the statue. "Very much so. From back then... and from what Link told me a few hours ago, even now she still does."
The weight that Zelda had felt in the river had returned. She looked down at her Hylian boots, wanting this conversation to immediately be over.
"Link... Doesn't know what he felt." Sidon said. Zelda couldn't help but perk her ears up at that, slowly lifting her head. "It has been plaguing him since he last visited. He doesn't want to make her spirit feel like he just abandoned her, left her in the past. And yet... Now this is me just assuming, but he seems to really care for you Princess. Beyond, that of just a knight."
Zelda fully looked up at Sidon. Sidon looked back down at her.
"Even with all the guilt he was feeling, he asked my father and I if we knew any way to use Mipha's power that he has on you to get rid of those burn marks you have. He puts himself through his own hell for you. If you don't mind me calling you this... Zelda, whether it's love or just admiration, he will go above and beyond for you. No matter what demons he may have. That is what I mean by him not being 2-Dimensional."
"D-do you think he loved your sister...?" Zelda guiltily asked. Sidon shrugged.
"There's only one Hylian that knows the answer to that." Sidon said. Zelda looked up at the ice sculpture of Mipha yet again, shining in the sunlight.
"How do you do it Sidon? Understand those around you? I always grew up... Secluded... from everyone else. How do I come to understand him?" She asked the Prince. Sidon thought about that a moment.
"People say talking is the best way to solve each others problems, however I've learned that... It's not the talking that makes people grow closer. I learned from my sister when she would speak to Link... That Listening, is the better option. Anyone can talk... But it takes someone who truly cares to listen. That's what Mipha said anyway."
"I don't want to hurt her either..." Zelda mumbled to herself.
Sidon smiled, pretending not to have heard that.
