The two Hylians formed from the growing blue light onto the teleport pad, now standing in front of what used to be an old lighthouse. The building was covered with wooden add-ons. The telescope at top of the building shook very slightly in the wind as the building creaked a bit.
"Has Robbie... added a few things onto the workshop since last I was here?" Zelda asked as they made their way to the door, studying the makeshift architecture of the building. Link shrugged.
"I don't remember small details like that. Though I'm sure once Jerrin came along, they must've added a few things onto it." Link said casually as he knocked on the door. Zelda gave him a questioning look.
"Who's Jerrin?" Zelda asked as soon as the door opened.
"Why, that would be me!" a Sheikah woman standing at the door said. The woman took one look at Zelda before gasping.
"ROBBIE! ROBBIE COME HERE, QUICK!" Jerrin called out loudly.
"What's all the ruckus about! I'm researching up here!" a voice called out from upstairs. Jerrin made a face as she turned towards the staircase.
"Get down here! It's Link and the princess!" Jerrin called out. Suddenly, the padding of footsteps running down the stairs filled Link and Zelda's ears.
"You say princess, but from what Purah and Impa told me in writing, you no longer wish to go by that title do you?" Robbie asked. Zelda looked around for a second before looking down at the imp-like Sheikah, his gold and blue spectacles as large as ever, with his balding white hair eccentrically styled and lifted around his head.
"R-Robbie?" Zelda asked, looking down at the little Sheikah. The Sheikah's eyes furrowed.
"Don't tell me you've also suffered the same fate as Link over there with memory loss." Robbie said coldly. "Now, we must verify you are the true Zelda from a hundred years ago. Please do us the honor of showing us your body so I can determine that it is truly you."
Zelda blinked as Jerrin and Link both brought their hands to their eyes.
"I'm sorry... What?" Zelda asked, turning a bright shade of red.
"I am simply requesting you-" Robbie started, however Link cut him off.
"Robbie, I assure you that this is the true Zelda," Link said before Robbie could continue. Robbie turned to Link with his large spectacles.
"And you have verified this how? She doesn't look a day older despite it being over a hundred years. You had the Shrine of Resurrection, however are we to believe that Zelda's Sealing Power kept her young this entire time?" Robbie asked. Link sighed as Zelda nodded vigorously.
"Yes, Robbie. I watched Zelda fly out the Calamity and land right in front of me. There's no mistaking it. This is the true Zelda," Link said tiredly.
"I guess I shall accept your word as truth..." Robbie said, though his tone of disbelief did not sound too convincing.
"I swear honey... Link was one thing, but the young Princess of Hyrule?" Jerrin asked disappointedly. "What scars would have possibly been on her body you would have been able to identify? She wouldn't have any..."
"That is where you are wrong, my dear wife and student," Robbie said, jumping and turning to face his wife with his familiar eccentric pose with a finger pointed upwards at his tall wife.
"The princess had been attacked by the Yiga Clan once in the desert a hundred years ago. She had tripped over a rock, scraping her ankle before the Hylian Champion here came to her aid. That is where the scar resides." Robbie said. Everyone besides Robbie in the room groaned.
"I could have just taken my boot off for you..." Zelda said quietly, still a bit red in the cheeks, as she lifted her pale foot out of her Hylians boots. Robbie quickly inspected the barely visible scar Zelda had received to the ankle many decades ago.
"I can officially determine this is the true Princess of Hyrule. It is good to see you, my dear Zelda." Robbie said, his tone slightly shifting to a brighter tone. "However, you plan to forgo that title from what I've heard. Is this true?"
Zelda nodded. "Y-Yes."
Robbie nodded, putting his hands behind his back as he slowly walked off.
"Well... if you shall not be a princess, then I presume you will delve into the hidden secrets of the Sheikah technology as it was your passion a hundred years ago?" he asked quietly.
"Why yes, that amongst other things," Zelda said excitedly. "I plan to travel Hyrule with Link, learning about the world, the history of Hyrule and the Sheikah technology, while also helping those in need around the kingdom. We have what we believe to be a special quest given to us by the ancient Sheikah that has to do with the Divine Beast."
"And you will be studying other forms of Sheikah technology right? Such as the guardians? Robbie asked without turning towards them. Link raised an eyebrow, taking a good guess as to where this conversation was heading.
"Why yes! I saw the Guardians outside that you've dismantled... Are you trying to find a way to take them back from Ganon's control?" Zelda asked curiously. Robbie spun on the spot, a smile wide as his fingers now pointed towards Zelda herself.
"PRECISELY!" Robbie said loudly. "MEANING YOU WILL NEED SHEIKAH GEAR AND MY HELP WITH STUDIES!"
Link once again put his hands to his eyes as his thoughts were confirmed. Zelda looked at Link, noticing his change in demeanor before giving Robbie a confused look.
"Y-Yes?" Zelda said questionably.
"And since you are no longer a princess, or at least forgoing that title, I should not feel bad for charging you for my services and gear whatsoever," Robbie said with a grin. Zelda blinked a few times before processing what Robbie had just said.
"C-Charging?" Zelda asked. Robbie nodded.
"You see, after the Calamity, we have run completely out of funding! This research isn't cheap, you know, hiring travelers to sneak into the dangers of Hyrule Castle for books, getting the other necessary tools and parts to create Ancient Arrows and other forms of gear, so on. It's very expensive." Robbie said. "Thankfully Link has more than willingly become a patron! And you shall as well my dear girl!"
"You didn't give me much of a choice either old man..." Link muttered under his breath.
"But... but where... How do I...?" Zelda stuttered out. Making money? The only 'money' she had managed to receive was the diamond Jiahto had given her. How was she supposed to legitimately earn rupees?
"Wait, do I have to get a job? That's what commoners do to get money right? How can I travel, learn the history and have a job?" Zelda worried. Link quickly locked eyes with Jerrin, who shrugged. Looks like there was no changing Robbie's mind. Luckily, Link had prepared for this.
"Alright then..." Link said, with a sigh. "I guess now is a better time than ever to teach you the ways of making money out in the field. Not that we have a choice."
Link had said that part towards Robbie, who shrugged without shame.
"I can't do this for free, you know. Money has to come from somewhere, even if it is from the princess of old. I'm just using the advantages given to me. I am but a frail old man, you know." Robbie said with a considerably evil grin. As much as Link had hoped Robbie would let Zelda slide with finances, Link knew deep down that was just a bit too much to ask for.
"Well, can we at least stay here a few days while I teach her a few things?" Link asked Robbie. "I brought her to say hi, but I also need to teach her a few things in the valley."
"Why, I'm not heartless, dear boy. Of course you two can stay. Free of charge." Robbie said, emphasizing that last sentence after catching a glare from his wife. "I said I'm not heartless. Heavens, you ask for funding for your work and suddenly you're an evil madman. I still care deeply for the two!"
Robbie turned back to the desk he had walked to while Jerrin gave them a friendly smile.
"Please, you two follow me upstairs ya hear?" Jerrin said with a sweet smile. Zelda and Link awkwardly smiled back, beginning to follow Jerrin up the steps.
"It's not a real room, but it's the only space we really have..." Jerrin said as she stopped just at the top of the stairs. At the top was a circular type room, if one could call it a room, with wooden floors, the center of the room covered by gears that lead into the large telescope outside of the building.
"Please, make yourselves at home. At least as possible." Jerrin said with another sweet smile. "I'll leave you two be. I know you must be planning to take Zelda down to the Highland Islands? Are you sure you guys will be okay on those island cliffs?"
"Island cliffs?" Zelda repeated curiously. Link, ignoring her question for the time being, took Zelda's backpack from her as he started prepping the 'room' for the two.
"I believe we'll do fine. She's gotta learn at some point, and honestly I've learned to stop doubting her." Link said towards Jerrin confidently, however there was some worry in Link's heart. He just had to pray Zelda had good balance...
"Well, I'll leave ya to it. Have a good time, ya hear?" Jerrin said, turning towards the staircase yet again. Link waved before remembering.
"Oh! Grante sends his regards!" Link called out. Jerring waved without turning back as she walked down the stairs.
"Okay Link, please explain to me what all is happening here... Who is Jerrin? Who's Grante? Where are we going to get money?" Zelda asked. Link stopped, processing all of Zelda's questions before answering.
"Jerrin is Robbie's wife, Grante is their kid who lives in Tarrey Town, and do NOT ask about the Ancient Oven's name, it's not a good idea." Link said as he rolled out their sleeping bags. Zelda however shook her head.
"Wait, where's Tarrey Town? I've never heard of that place..." Zelda muttered. Link nodded in understanding.
"You wouldn't, it's new. I helped build it."
Zelda gawked at him in surprise.
"You helped found a town?" Zelda asked in surprise. Link nodded.
"Yup, and we will be headed there today. However, only after we accomplish our first goal." Link said as he stood. Zelda, still sitting on the ground, looked up at him.
"And that would be?" she asked curiously. Link stretched before putting his hands on his hips.
"Mining."
