The story have been Beta thank to RedRat8
Within this world there exists the city of Orario, the City of Adventurers. Mortals of all ages and races travel to this city in pursuit of their desires and dreams. For this is the city of Adventures. Orario was built over a massive dungeon that spawned monsters out and threatened the lives of all who lived on the surface and in the past was left unchecked save for the efforts of brave heroes who made contracts with the enigmatic Spirits and fought back against the endless hordes.
It was only when the Gods above came down from "Tenkai." and sealed the dungeon with the Tower of Babel and offered their own gifts to the ones living on the surface were the mortals able to fend for themselves through the gift of the Gods, the Falna.
The Falna is the grace given by the Gods to members of their family, or Familia. Within these Familia are Adventurers who make use of their Gods' Falna to make a living both within Orario and its dungeon and outside of it. The power of the Falna increases the more experience (known as excelia) they gather. This excelia is written upon their Falna, allowing a God to read about the growth their child has experienced like a story.
In the modern time, an excitable and rookie Adventurer is making his own story known, but he does not make the story alone, for he shall be joined by people who will become his family and they too, shall paint the story with their own colors!
The door slammed in front of Bell Cranel for what seemed like the twenty-fourth time.
"Looks like I will be sleeping outside tonight again." Bell said after he let out a dejected sigh.
He had arrived three days ago to live out his dream of being an Adventurer, to be a Hero like the Heroes from the stories he grew up on and saving cute girls, but that was starting to seem like a distant dream now. The boy had spent nearly every moment of his time here looking for a Familia to join, he at first went to the large and high ranking Familias like as Loki, Freya, Ganesha. Hell! He even went to the Apollo Familia but all rejected him.
After the first day of scouting and failure of joining any of the upper ranking Familias, he went to the mid-level Familias with the exact same result, granted they didn't kick him out and said to gain some experience before they could let him join. But how the hell was he to level up if he don't have a Falna, How he can had a Flana if he couldn't join a Familia to begin with?
'But I guess everyone here had to start from square one.' Bell thought sadly.
He looked up to the sky and saw that he only had about another hour or so before the sunset, and decided that there was still time for him to ask one or two more Familias before the day was out. Bell began to walk toward the next Familia building with a new hope.
"So, this is Orario. The so-called City of Adventure and Adventurers, huh." A white-haired man commented casually, as he walked down a path with a woman by his side.
"For a place that's been called the City of Gods in this world of sorts, it's not half bad." She noted to the white-haired man.
"So, what now?" the white-haired man questioned his companion. "We only got few Valis from the merchants for helping them out with their bandit troubles." He commented as he counted up the few coins that they had left between them.
"Well we have two options before us." The woman said as she pointed out what they can do. "Our first option is to find a job in one of the city shops or we can go with option two. We can join up with one of the Familias, which I think is better suited for us, if we can count up our experience and the amount of money Adventurers can make." She explained.
"Well that works just fine with me, after all fighting's what I do best." The white-haired man said, before he let out a sigh. "But I sure as hell am not joining the Susanoo Familia." He said with a snarl.
"You know he may have no connections with the one in our world." The woman pointed out, though her voice did get lower as she wasn't exactly big on the idea herself, considering what that Bastard made her go through.
"I don't care." He retorted, the heat in his voice rising. "That name's more than enough to want anything to do with that guy, and I know for a fact that you also feel the same." He said to her bluntly.
"…You know me too well, very well then." The woman said as her voice became frosty enough that several people nearby that passed by her shivered at the coldness of her tone.
"We don't need weaklings like you! So, don't you ever come back here you fucking weakling!" A woman shouted before she slammed the door shut in front of Bell who sighed and rubbed his head a bit after being thrown out. And at the same time trying not to cry as yet another Familia rejected him because he was a rookie.
"You okay kid?" Someone asked as Bell turned around to where the voice was and saw who was standing in front of him.
It was a man with white spiky hair and heterochromia, his left eye being green and his right being red. He wore a vibrant red sleeved jacket with two long thin tails hanging from the back. Under it was a black shirt with three red belts. a pair of black gloves with a red shell on the backs of the hands, and a pair of black hakama pants. He also carried a kind of large sword that Bell has never seen before.
"I'm fine." Bell responded as he got up slowly as the man helped him up.
"So, got to ask, what the fuck happened that made that bitch throw you out the building?" The man asked and Bell could tell that the man was unimpressed by the attitude and the actions of the woman that threw him out.
"It wasn't her fault, I just wasn't fit for her Familia, because I wasn't strong enough is all." Bell said to the man, who looked even more unimpressed and had a dark look at the building.
"So, it is true then, some Familias are incredibly picky about who they want joining them after all, but even so that was uncalled for." A female voice spoke up as Bell turned to look at who did so.
Behind the man was a pink haired woman wearing a purple collar with a magenta cape, a short revealing purple and pink dress matching with two separate long sleeves, black gloves, long black curved leggings with dark purple trimmings and dark purple heeled slippers, and a witch hat on her head. What grabbed Bell's focus about the woman was her eyes, it had yellow color but her sclera was black.
"It's rude to stare at someone boy." The woman spoke up as she noticed Bell's eyes on her and hers narrowed in response.
"Sorry!" Bell said quickly as he bowed to her in apology.
"So, you're telling me, if a Familia doesn't like anyone for any kind of stupid ass reasons, they can pull that kind of shit?" The man questioned in disbelief at how stupid and rude that was.
"Yes, I think this is kind of the norm around here." The woman noted in disgust as she looked around to see that people continued doing what they were doing, but some could be heard snickering at Bell's misfortune before continuing their way which only made Bell feel more embarrassed and distressed.
"Then fuck joining any of the Familias if that's what's waiting for me at the end." The man scoffed.
"Wait please!" Bell shouted. "Don't let my experience influence your desire of joining a Familia!" Bell pleaded as he didn't want his situation to affect other people's desire to join them. Then his stomach grumbled loudly, causing him to burn red at the sound of his stomach. "Sorry." He said timidly.
"Don't worry about it, it's getting late to begin with, want to grab some grub?" The man asked.
"If you think about paying for the kid's meal then use you own money." The woman said at once as they weren't in good financial state to begin with.
"It okay! I still got some money left!" Bell assured the woman, who looked less annoyed now. And he did have enough money to last him another two weeks, three weeks if he didn't stay at any of the Inns.
"Then you can join us for dinner at the very least." The man said as he pointed to himself and then the woman. "By the way, name's Ragna and the Ice Queen's Nine." He said jokingly towards her.
"Fuck you dog." Nine said at once though Bell paid attention and noticed that there wasn't any heat into it and was more good-natured ribbing than anything else.
Soon the group found themselves in small local tavern. They were lucky to find a table as they appeared during the busy hours of the tavern, during which many Adventurers come in from the Dungeon come in to unwind and destress.
"So, the both of you arrived here in this city trying to find a Familia as well?" Bell asked Ragna as soon as the group were seated and made their orders as they wait for their food to arrive.
"Well we kind of lost all our money when we began traveling together at the beginning." Ragna began as he continued on. "We were lucky enough to meet some merchants being attacked by bandits, and they give us some money and a free ride here, so long as we continued to protect them. Then we got here and we started looking at job opportunities and one of them was being an Adventurer, but based on what happened to you…" Ragna explained as he trailed off a bit at the end.
"Well my case is a bit different, but I do believe you two can find a Familia on your own in no time." Bell quickly said. "At least compared to me, you two actually look strong."
"Well, you're right about that, at least in regards to me." Nine bragged with a smirk on her face. while Ragna just rolled his eyes. "But I am curious, how long you been here Bell?" Nine then asked as she lost her smirk and looked more inquisitive now.
"I've been here for three days, trying to find a Familia for myself, but…that hasn't gone as well as I hoped." Bell said with dejection.
"How many Familias did you try joining?" Nine asked in morbid curiosity.
"Forty." Bell said as he then saw genuine shock on Nine's face for the first time since meeting her about an hour or so ago.
"Say what?!" Ragna choked out as he tried to hastily finish his drink.
"The upper class Familias straight out rejected me without even giving me a chance. The mid class Familias did the same and said that I should try to gain some experience first before they would even consider me joining them." Bell explained as he sighed in depression. "But how can I gain any experience? You have to be a registered member of a Familia before you're permitted into the dungeon, and how can you gain experience if you don't have a Falna if the Gods won't even give you a chance?! " Bell's anguish nearly took over the rest of his words and both Ragna and Nine couldn't help but frown at his circumstances.
"Even with Familias like the Ganesha or Hermes Familias?" Nine asked curiously. "I heard that both Familias accept just about anyone without any issue." She pointed out.
"Well, the issue is that the Ganesha Familia is currently busy with their upcoming festival so they said I should come back after that event. While with the Hermes Familia, when I went up to them. Their Captain begged me not to join them right now, as she said something about not being able to take any more Hermes's pranks anymore." Bell explained as he remembered the extremely worn out faces of the Hermes Familia.
"Well, damn kid." Ragna whistled as he resumed his drink in peace. "You got some determination to keep on going no matter how many rejections you faced." Ragna noted in respect as did Nine who also nodded, determination in the face of the impossible was to be respected.
"That's because becoming an Adventurer is my dream." Bell said with determination as both adults nodded to him.
"Hope you'll find a Familia soon then kid." Ragna said as Bell smiled at the encouraging words.
"Sorry!" A voice suddenly spoke up, causing them to turn around to see a waitress looking apologetic. "There's too many customers here and we're short a few tables so can you share your table with another?" She asked looking kind of sheepish.
"We don't mind, since we got plenty of room here." Bell said before pausing as he remembered the other two and turned to them for their opinions but they just shrugged in okay. As the waitress left while thanking them and them coming back a few minutes later with another group of three, all of them being girls.
The first one had pink hair and pink eyes, wearing a red and pink top, a red skirt, with her hair cut short, and with two accessories at the side of her head. She was also a bit shorter than Bell, and looked to be a bit older than him.
The second one was a young girl with long black hair that reaches down to her knees and had rather striking red eyes. She wore a dark sleeveless tank top with a white collar and a red tie, with a red belt that has a red side skirt cover over a black, pleated skirt, with long black socks and black shoes, and she also wore red gauntlets with black gloves.
The last girl was a petite girl with pale skin and purple eyes, with shoulder-length wavy hair that fades from black into dark purple, and fastened with a white and purple butterfly ornament. She wore dark-purple tinted straight-lined black jacket and hakama pants that are tucked into a butterfly pattern tabi socks around her lower legs with a white haori with a butterfly wing pattern that fades into a turquoise then pink color on the sleeves and bottom edges which are cuffed with a black and white dotted trim.
"Here's your table!" The waitress said kindly before she bowed again. "Again, we're terribly sorry for the inconvenience."
"Don't worry about it." The purple haired girl said kindly.
"Excuse us." The black-haired girl said to the trio.
"Don't mention it." Ragna shrugged off as the girls settle into a table.
"Oh, my apologies, my name is Emma Flores." The pink haired girl soon introduced herself.
"Akame." The black-haired girl said before looking at the menu to order food.
"Shinobu Kocho." the purple haired girl said with a smile.
"My name is Bell Cranel." Bell introduced himself. "Nice to meet you." He said with a kind smile of his own.
"Ragna." Ragna simply said as he didn't have a last name.
"You can call me Nine." Nine introduced herself with her given title.
"So just out of curiosity, you three are Adventurers yes?" Emma asked.
"Oh no, we haven't joined up with any Familia yet." Bell said as both Ragna and Nine nodded.
"Really?" Shinobu blinked in surprise. "I had assumed based on your weapons and attire that you were already Adventurers and that Bell was simply a new recruit." She noted.
"Me and Nine just arrived here today though." Ragna explained.
"My, my, my what a coincidence." Shinobu hummed in surprise as she then explained it as well. "We arrived here today as well."
"So, were there any Familias any of you wanted to join?" Emma asked.
"Not yet." Ragna said before pointing to Bell. "And to be honest after seeing how they treated the kid; I don't think I was interested in being treated like crap." Ragna explained.
" Oh dear, what happened to you?" Shinobu asked with concern.
"It's nothing I'd just been rejected by a few Familias" Bell said quickly as Ragna and Nine snorted.
"Try forty Familias and being treated like crap and kicked out for the most part." Ragna said as Nine nodded.
Shinobu, Emma and Akame looked at Bell in shock and surprise at that.
"Do you know why they rejected you Bell?" Emma asked as soon as she recovered her composure.
"The high class Familias straight out rejected me without even giving me a chance. The mid class Familias did the same, but also said I should gain some experience before coming back. But how am I supposed to gain experience? You have to be a registered member of a Familia before you're even permitted into the dungeon, and how can you gain experience if you don't have a Falna, if Gods won't even give you a chance?" Bell sadly asked.
"I see, I'm sorry for what happened to you." Emma said sympathetically.
"That sounds really unfair actually, everyone had to start from zero." Akame noted with her softened eyes showing her way of expressing her sympathy.
"So, what are you going to do now?" Shinobu asked as her voice showed that she feels for Bell.
"I'm going to try my luck with the other Familias, most likely the smaller ones. " Bell said to them.
"Then I do hope that you will find a Familia for yourself." Shinobu said kindly.
"Thank you Shinobu." Bell nodded before a thought popped into his head. "So, do you girls plan on joining any Familias? I can help you out with that."
"Well I'm not sure, I originally care here to find someone, not become an Adventurer." Emma said.
"Who you looking for?" Bell asked as the other group members turned to her.
"My sister." Emma said.
"Is she an adventurer?" Bell asked. "If she is, then you can ask the guild, as they do have information on every Adventurer to date." He explained.
"I tried that." Emma said sadly. "But the Guild said, they don't know about her current status."
"Well I'm sure you'll find her soon enough." Nine offered her own sympathies as she had a sister herself.
"Maybe you could become and Adventurer." Bell said to Emma. "If you become famous enough, you could catch up on the trail of your sister in the dungeon."
"I don't know…I'm not exactly a fighter." Emma sighed out.
"If that's the case then I can help train you." Shinobu offered, surprising Emma. "Let me do this to repay my Debt."
"I can help as well." Akame said softly.
"Thank you, Shinobu, Akame." Emma said gratefully.
"But before we do that, we need to know something important." Shinobu said before she turned to Bell. "Do you have any recommendations for any Familias we could join?" She asked.
"Well honestly that depends, there are plenty of Familias that take in new Adventurers based on their skillset and abilities." Bell started explaining. "Again, it depends on what kind of skills you have."
"Well, I am very knowledgeable Medicine and Pharmaceutical drugs." Shinobu said to Bell. "I can also fight as well."
"Fighting." Was all Akame said.
"Then maybe you could consider the Miach Familia or Dian Cecht Familias" Bell suggested. "Both are well known in medical arts, and the Dian Cecht Familia is quite famous with Dea Saint."
"Who's this Dea Saint?" Shinobu asked.
"Well she's a famous Level 2 Healer around these parts" A female voice spoke up as the group turned around to see a girl grinning at them with brown eyes and curly golden-brown hair while wearing leather armor and a hooded cloak.
"Who are you?" Nine demanded at once as she glared at the girl who was clearly eavesdropping, who dropped her grin a bit after seeing Nine's glare.
"Sorry, my name is Argo and I'm an Information Broker." Argo quickly said trying to escape Nine's glare pointed at her.
"And why are you here?" Nine questioned again, but letting up her glare at Ragna's look letting the girl less freaked.
"Well, I happened to overhear that all of you guys were looking for a Familia to join, and I happen to know a few that are willing to take you all, even Mister Forty over there." Argo explained as the group winced at Bell's number being mentioned as he looked really down.
"And how can we trust you?" Nine said coldly. "You could be trying to scam us for all we know."
"I take offense to that!" Argo snapped at her but inwardly she was scared of Nine though. "I do have standards you know."
"Well as long as they're not jackasses or high standard asses who treat the kid like shit." Ragna said "Also me and Nine are not interested in the Susanoo Familia." He added in.
"Not the first time anyone didn't want to join a particular Familia." Argo shrugged though she was curious as to know why. " As for the butterfly lady here Miach Familia or Dian Cecht Familias would be your best bet, but Miach's in debt with the Dian Cecht."
"Oh? Mind explain that?" Shinobu asked as the others listened in.
"Seems that one of the Miach Adventurers lost her arm and Miach had beg Dian Cecht to create a prosthetic arm which put his Familia in debt soon everyone left to avoid help paying the debt." Argo explained as the group frowned at the fact that those people abandoned one of their own.
"Meaning if we joined Miach we'll also have to help with debt." Nine commented as Argo nodded. "Figures." Nine sighed.
"What about Dian Cecht?" Shinobu soon asked.
"The Dian Cecht Familia only care about medical knowledge and often bargain with other Familias for the drop items using their healing prowess and will only accept people with healing skills." Argo said.
"Sounds like a fit for you Shinobu." Emma said with a smile.
"But you and Akame won't be able to join though." Shinobu pointed out.
"So, what other options do you have?" Bell asked.
"I know a few Gods and Goddesses that recently came down here also looking for Familia members as well." Argo replied. "They will happily accept, and I can introduce you to them for a price, of course." She said with a grin.
"And how can you be sure they'll accept us?" Nine questioned.
"Trust me, like Mister Forty over here some Gods and Goddesses aren't so lucky with finding members either." Argo pointed out as Bell took another hit to his self-esteem.
"Fine then, how much?" Ragan sighed out.
" One hundred Valis for each of you." Argo said instantly as the group count up their money and gave the required amount to Argo. "Meet me here tomorrow and I'll lead you to them." She said before leaving.
"Are we sure that she's not trying to trick us?" Emma pointed out the obvious concern.
"Don't worry Emma, she'll come here if she knows what's good for her." Shinobu smiled that seemed kind of dark.
"If not, then nobody will ever see her again." Nine said far too casually for Emma and Bell's liking as they shivered and hoped that Argo didn't try to screw them over.
The next day, everyone came back to the tavern and had some breakfast and they were also surprised to see that Argo was already there. "Well at least we know you're true." Nine commented as she ate an egg dish.
"I have to be good you know, being an Information Broker isn't an easy task, especially as I'm unaffiliated and don't have a Falna of my own to help me out." Argo pointed out to which Nine nodded and soon after breakfast was done, Argo soon lead everyone to possible Gods to join.
Argo stopped in front of a shop and knocked on the door and waited for a couple minutes and shrugged. "Well seems that Hestia's not in right now."
"But the shop's open though?" Emma said in confusion and even more when the shopkeeper just shook his head.
"Hestia doesn't own the shop, she's here as a Sales Clerk." Argo explained, which surprised a good number of the group.
"Wait, Gods have to work as well?!" Ragna questioned, being completely caught off guard by this, as was Nine who simply blinked at what she heard.
"Those who don't work, don't eat after all." Argo said casually.
"Well that's rather…off-putting to know." Shinobu said softly as she too, was also confused by what she heard.
"It's usually the poorer Gods and smaller Familias that have their Gods work." Argo explained. "Though some Familias like Demeter's Familia have their Goddess working with them happily. While others like Freya and Loki just live happily off their Familia's earning."
"Well now, now that I have time to think about it, that is very funny." Nine noted in amusement at the thought that Gods have to work or starve.
"AGH! WHAT IS THIS ABOMINATION!?" An Adventurer can be heard screaming as he ran past the group looking really sick.
"Wonder what's wrong with him?" Akame blinked as she stared at the retreating Adventurer.
"Oh good, that means she's in now." Argo said casually as she continued walking.
"Who's in?" Ragna asked as he walked up to Argo trying to figure why this suddenly gave him a bad case of Déjà Vu and a sudden urge to shudder and Argo explained.
"It's the work of a Goddess that came down here a couple months ago, like other Gods she's also trying to find members for her Familia but in the meantime, she also runs a Food Stand." Argo explained.
"And she's not that successful at cooking good food if that man's reaction was anything to go boy." Nine muttered under her breath and for some reason she had Déjà Vu and a sudden urge to shudder.
Soon the group arrived at a food stand Potato Puffs known as Jagamarukun. "Welcome." A cheerful, and very familiar voice to Ragna and Nine, spoke up. "Would you like to buy a Jagamarukun? There's a special offer for two with azuki cream for only 80 Valis." The female said kindly as the group saw that behind the Stand was a very young-looking Goddess with long violet hair tied up in a ponytail, with fair skin, red eyes, and wearing a frilly pink apron over a kimono outfit of sorts, and a headband to complete the look.
"Hello Lady Izanami." Argo greeted the Goddess kindly as Shinobu's eyes widened at hearing the name of the Goddess while both Ragna and Nine were shocked at seeing Izanami.
"Ah, hello there Argo, do you want some Jagamarukun?" Izanami asked with a kind smile on her face.
"I just ate breakfast." Argo said quickly and then changed the subject. "So how goes the search for finding people to join your Familia?" She asked and soon Izanami's smile dropped at that.
"It hasn't been going that well." Izanami said sadly as Argo winced at seeing the happy Goddess be so sad. "I've asked around but a good number of them are already part of a Familia, and I even placed a Notice with the Guild looking for members." She explained as Bell caught that last part.
"Wait, there was a notice at the Guild?" Bell asked in disbelief.
"Well of course there is." Argo said like it was pretty obvious. "It's not like Gods and Goddesses have the time to just lounge around and try to find members all day, they have to work to eat too. And so, there's plenty of Gods that just place a Notice with Guild to help newbies find a Familia." Argo explained.
Hearing that, Bell looked just about ready to collapse on all four and cry, if he had known about that to begin with, then he could have saved a lot of time and heartache from asking various Familias. "Damn it!" He nearly shouted out but kept it muted to a whisper.
"I just don't know why nobody's interested." Izanami said as she looked close to crying.
"Well now, don't worry about that, because I've brought people here looking to join a Familia." Argo said kindly as she introduced the group behind her.
"Really?!" Izanami said before she saw the group and quickly got out from behind her Stand and bowed to them. "Please join my Familia!" She asked the group.
'If Nee Chan was here, she would have joined instantly at seeing how Izanami looked and then hugged and cuddled her.' Shinobu thought to herself as she took in the sight of Izanami and had a bit of a hard time trying to reconcile the differences with what she knew about the myths and this Izanami so far.
"I will!" Bell said with biggest smile on his face. 'Finally, I can finally begin my first steps to my dream grandpa.' Bell thought as Izanami looked happily at that.
"I would be honored." Emma said as she bowed and Izanami just became happier.
"Okay then." Akame said.
'Still the fact that a Goddess of Death like her willingly bow to mortals so easily, speaks well of her character.' Shinobu thought. "I would be okay with joining as well." She said.
Soon everyone turned to Ragna and Nine as they were still silent and were still in shock. "Is something wrong you two?" Bell asked seeing the two's reaction and upon hearing Bell's voice they snapped out of it.
"So, wait just to clarify, are you Izanami?" Nine asked cautiously.
"Why yes I am?" Izanami said curiously.
"As in the Goddess of the Death Izanami?" Ragna continued.
"Yes?" Izanami repeated now confused.
"Just give us a minute to discuss this please." Nine asked as Izanami looked confused before she nodded and then Nine quickly grabbed Ragna away out of the group's hearing range.
"She looks just like her!" Nine hissed to Ragna.
"If that's the case then what about Susanoo?" Ragna asked as the both of them shuddered at dealing with another Terumi.
"But now the question is will we join her or do we ask Argo to introduce us to another?" Nine asked Ragna. "I'm not dealing with another Hades Izanami for the rest of my life if possible."
"I don't know Nine she looks like the Izanami we know but she never showed any emotion at all, unless to screw with us." Ragna pointed out as Nine did nod at that as Ragna did have a point.
"True, she did look close to crying at the lack of interest from people joining her, and she was very excited to have Bell and the other join her as well." Nine added in as Ragna nodded.
"Honestly she reminds me more of Noel with her personality, just looking like Izanami is all." Ragna said as Nine nodded and then he froze and slowly turned to the Goddess now looking worried.
"Is something wrong?" Izanami asked nervously.
"You can cook right?" Ragna asked and really hoping the answer was no as suddenly Nine's eyes widened in understanding and also looked very worried as she clearly remembered Izanami's failed attempts to cook, who was said to be as bad as that Noel girl's cooking.
"Of course, I can." Izanami said happily, crushing Ragna and Nine's hope. "Let me give you guys some Jagamarukun I made with my recipe." She said kindly as the goddess quickly went back to her stand and took out her food before showing it to everyone. Upon seeing her food, Ragna quickly turned pale and started having flashbacks as was Nine, while everyone else turned green.
"…Is that thing really a Jagamarukun?" Emma asked in worry.
"…Why has it been censored?" Bell asked as Ragna and Nine now turned ghost white upon hearing that tidbit and slowly tried to back away.
"Are you sure that thing's edible?" Shinobu asked in concern as a healer.
"Have you tasted it before serving?" Akame asked as her eyes widened and she sweated a lot at what she saw, it was an abomination to good food everywhere.
"Of course not!" Izanami replied. "I make it a rule to never taste my own creations." She said happily as everyone stared at Izanami silently.
"…That just brings up even more questions." Nine muttered. 'No wonder Izanami's cooking was so bad, that actually explains why Relius avoided the kitchen at all cost back then.' She thought.
"…You don't like it." Izanami said sadly "I took the best ones I made so far for this." She said sadly as everyone started to panic a bit upon seeing her tear up.
"Of course not!" Bell quickly said before eating it, and then his face turned green and he looked like he wanted to vomit but held it back. Emma was in the same shoes as Bell as she was currently looking very green. Akame fainted after she took a bite and was foaming a bit. Nine quickly use the lack of attention on herself when Akame fainted to burned the food and sighed in relief and then panicked a bit upon seeing that Ragna still had his, and she didn't want to lose her kind of, sort of, maybe, only, friend/meat shield/fool/useful guy here and was motioning to him to give it to her when Shinobu's reaction caught everyone off-guard.
"It's surprisingly quite good." Shinobu said after she finish her share. " Can I get another one? I will pay of course." She asked.
"YOU CAN EAT IT?!" Everyone shouted in shock at the most normal girl from the looks of it among them being able to eat that abomination, save for Akame who was still out.
" Despite its looks, it's very delicious." Shinobu said to them and honestly not the worst thing she had either.
"Here, you can have it." Both Ragna and Argo said at once giving their shares to a very confused Shinobu.
"So, will you two join my Familia?" Izanami asked Ragna and Nine hopefully as the two looked towards each other and both came a single decision. 'Stay with her for the time being, if she's anything like their Izanami, leave.'
"We don't mind joining." Ragna said as Izanami smiled.
"But out of curiosity, could we leave our Familia whenever we want?" Nine asked.
"Well, so long as I'm okay with it, yes." Izanami nodded. "But there is a limit of one year before you can leave, and joining a new Familia. It's to prevent people from just bouncing from one Familia to another or abusing the Falna blessing. Though…I would prefer if nobody left my Familia." Izanami said as she poked her fingers together.
"Very well then." Nine nodded.
"Yay! I finally got my Familia started and I got six members to start off with!" Izanami cheered before she started crying tears of joy. "After such a long time waiting…I finally got my own children." She sniffled as Bell kindly offered her a tissue to wipe her tears away.
Izanami had soon closed her stand to took her new children to her home, which will also become their home as well. Argo soon left as her job was basically done, and then the group arrived at Izanami's home, which it was a medium sized house with two floors and had a small garden outside.
"A friend of mine give me this house when I came down here." Izanami explained. "He also told me that the house was large enough to fit ten people inside with ease." She added in.
"Impressive." Nine nodded. "From what I heard, finding good houses like these usually cost about 800,000 Valis to pay for." She commented as everyone not in the know widened their eyes at how expensive such a place was.
"His Familia is big enough to pay for all of this." Izanami replied. "Of course, I intend to pay him back someday." She said as everyone entered the house and all of them were sitting at the table. "Okay let's get all of you a Falna Blessing." Izanami said. "Let's begin with Bell first." She said.
"Yes Goddess." Bell said happily and quite excitedly.
Izanami giggled good naturedly. "Please, just call me Izanami, also Bell I need you to take off your shirt and lay on the sofa so I can place the Falna on your back." She said as Bell nodded.
Bell then followed Izanami's instructions, who then proceeded to prick her finger with a knife and then traced her blood onto Bell's back. Once that was done, Izanami placed a piece of parchment onto Bell's back where she traced her finger and pulled it back, leaving several words and numbers on it, and then gave the parchment to Bell, who happily received it.

"T-This is…" Bell's body began to tremble as he looked at his Falna.
"Everyone's at the starting point, starting from zero." Izanami explained kindly. "Just work hard!" She declared encouragingly.
"This is wonderful!" Bell cried out as he turned to Izanami, his sheer joyful expression making her eyes widen a bit. "I'm really a part of your Familia, Goddess!" Bell cried out as Izanami's eyes widened a bit as Bell pulled her in for a hug, she was about to say something before she caught the tears on his face.
Izanami's expression softened as she just pulled back Bell into a tender hug. "It must have been rather difficult for you my child." Izanami said warmly, showing her motherly nature to the group.
Who smiled a bit for Bell, considering what he went through, even Nine was smiling somewhat, as Bell soon finished hugging Izanami and allowed her to continue her Falna Blessing and then Ragna stepped up to receive his Falna as he took off his shirt to do so and some of the ladies couldn't help but blush a bit at seeing Ragna's well defined muscles.

Magic: Ars Magus: cast spells through the use of formula.
Skills: Azure Grimoire: allows control over Seithr and absorbs the soul.
"Oh my! You already have a Skill and Magic Spell!" Izanami noted in surprise as she looked at the parchment before she handed it towards Ragna who looked at it and nodded.
"Well now, this doesn't look too bad." Ragna hummed as he focused on the Azure Grimoire Skill. 'I guess in this place it would make sense for it to be classified as a Skill.' He thought to himself.
"Question, why is there is only three slots for the magic section?" Nine asked as she looked at Ragna's parchment and was kind of worried since this may limit her magical prowess.
"Everyone can only learn three spells at max, but without a Falna, the average person can only learn one." Izanami explained. "But there are Mages that can cast more than three spells, per say." Izanami added in, catching Nine's interest.
"And they are?" Nine asked.
"The first one is Nine Hell, they say that her spells are based on the chant length and mind usage, thus this allows a loophole that technically allows her usage of nine spells." Izanami explained.
"Interesting, and the other one?" Nine asked as she took notes on this in her mind.
"They call her Thousand Elf." Izanami said. "Her rare spell allows her to copy any magic that's usable by an Elf, and thus also creating a loophole which allows her to use multiple magic spells with ease."
"I see." Nine nodded as she took in all this info and came a conclusion. "If that is the case then Ars Magus will be the same exception as well." She said as Izanami, Bell, and Emma looked surprised.
"What do you mean by that?" Izanami asked as Nine turned to Ragna who nodded and then started using Ars Magus and started demonstrating a variety of spells, to the shock and awe of Izanami and the others.
"Ars Magus is a type of magic that can be used highly versatilely, due to the nature of the fact that it's mostly based on formulas, so long as you know the formula and can alter it, you can use a plethora of spells." Nine explained.
"That's amazing." Bell said in awe.
"That's some rather versatile magic." Emma said in the same amount of awe.
"I must say, Ragna, you're full of surprises." Shinobu said with a smile on her face.
"Of course, Ragna's just a rookie as he only knows a few formulas." Nine boasted as Ragna shrugged casually.
"So, does that mean you know far more formulas than Ragna then?" Akame asked.
"Of course, she does, she's the one who created Ars Magus in the first place." Ragna explained as everyone else turned to Nine in awe, who was smirking at the attention she got.
"But that's impossible though." Izanami said looking confused. "There's only two types of Magic in this world, Congenital magic and Acquired Magic."
"Trust me, Nine's a pretty damn powerful Mage, she could create something like Ars Magus on her own." Ragna replied as Nine preened at the praise she got.
"Well at least you admit who's superior now Dog." Nine smirked.
"Bite me." Ragna retorted with no real heat.
The way that these two acted, some might have been confused by how much they can get on each other's nerves easily enough but were rather casual with each other and thus Izanami asked her question. "Um excuse Ragna, Nine?" She spoke up as the both of them turned to her. "You two wouldn't happen to be lovers, would you?" She asked.
That gained a rather quick reaction from them. "Oh, Hell No!" Nine shouted. "As if I would ever consider this brute to ever! Say that again and I'll burn you." She threatened.
"Like Hell I would go for a psychotically insane and violent woman!" Ragna retorted as he suddenly dodged a fire ball thrown by Nine.
"You take that back you Dog!" Nine shouted as she and Ragna argued with each other as Ragna was running around the place a bit shouting insults at Nine as Nine threw fire balls and shouted back at Ragna.
"Ah, I see. So, this is a Lover's Spat." Shinobu said with her fist bumping on her hand.
"I don't think that's the case." Akame deadpanned with a sweatdrop.
After a couple of minutes, Izanami was able to calm down Nine, and then directed the boys to leave so she can give her Falna to the girls with Emma being the first to receive hers.
"So, this is my Falna." Emma said in awe as she stared at her Parchment.

"I have no idea for sure." Izanami said with a smile. "That's part of the 'fun' when it comes to some Skills like these. You have to find out what it does on your own. But 'Rhapsodia' can mean 'collection' or a 'really good feeling' so it might be a skill that boosts you or people around you under certain conditions. You'll have to test it out when you eventually go into the Dungeon." She explained as Emma nodded as Izanami did Shinobu next.
"Ara, it seems that I gained two skills." Shinobu noted as Nine and Izanami looked over in interest.

"Wait what does your second Skill mean?" Izanami asked in worry for Shinobu, whose smile started to droop a bit at that, but answered regardless.
"Well, I had altered my body in such a way with highly concentrated poison for over a year that it permeated my entire body with said poison, turning my blood, organs, and even my flesh to poison." Shinobu explained but also quickly added in more upon seeing the worried looks the others were sending her. "But don't worry, my body's not poisonous to the touch for you." She assured.
"Why did you do such a thing?" Izanami asked with tears threatening to come out.
"There was someone that I needed to kill, and do not worry Goddess, he's already dead." Shinobu said as she lost her smile completely and everyone decided not to ask as they saw how personal it seemed to her. Nine could empathize with her, and so Izanami moved onto Akame to give her, her Falna.
"It seems I'm like Bell." Akame noted, looking at her stats.

Akame nodded at that. "Thank you." She said as Izanami then did Nine next, though they didn't show it, some of the girls couldn't help but be jealous of Nine's rather plentiful figure and looked at themselves and silently cried at how they were kind of on the smaller side then they looked over Nine's stats who frowned at bit at her actual name being given.

"My word, your Falna is rather amazing!" Izanami said happily as Nine had two Magic Slots filled and a Skill.
"Well I am not surprised; I was sure that I outdid those Mages that you mentioned earlier." Nine said with a smirk on her face, deciding to ignore her name bit for now.
"Just why do you call yourself Nine?" Shinobu asked, looking at Nine's parchment.
"Both due to personal preference and it was my ranking, as the Ninth Strongest Mage in the World." Nine explained as Izanami smiled and then remembered something important.
"That is indeed amazing, but also worrying as well." Izanami said as the girls turned to her in confusion. "You could easily become targeted by Gods for your power and skill." She explained.
"They can certainly try." Nine replied as she lit a fireball in her hand.
"Even so, do keep in mind that your Falna will be your most important secret." Izanami warned seriously. "You must never ever show your Falna to an outsider ever, you could do it with each other as you're all family now, but never show it to an outsider." She said seriously.
"Yes Izanami." All the girls said as Izanami smiled as she recalled the boys back in and gave them the same warning as well, and they took it to heart as they prepared for the next step the next day as they all took the time to rest now, with Bell being particularly excited.
The next day, Izanami took her Familia to the Guild to finally register them for the Dungeon where she approached a Guild Worker, who's a slim Half Elf, with brown shoulder length hair, glasses, and emerald green eyes.
"Hello, how may I help you?" The Guild Worker asked kindly with a smile.
"Hello Eina." Izanami greeted back. "I want to registered my children." She said with a smile.
"Six members!" Eina noted in surprise. "Not many Familias are this lucky to start off with such a large number." She told Izanami who looked really happy.
"I know, I'm very lucky to get this." Izanami replied.
"Then I need your Familia members to fill out those forms." Eina said as she took out a pile of papers. As Eina guided the group to a room to let them in fill the forms.
"Do we have to fill in all of this?" Shinobu asked looking at the form.
"No need." Eina answered. "The guild only needs your name, Level, and your Familia, every Familia have their own secrets they would like to keep after all." She said as everyone nodded and started filling out the forms before handing it back to Eina. "Okay now, with this the Izanami Familia has officially been formed, just one question, who's the Captain of your group?" She asked.
"I'm a fighter, not a leader." Ragna answered at once.
"Leading's not my strong point either." Akame answered.
"I don't think I'm a good fit for it." Bell said.
"Me neither." Emma replied as the group turned to Shinobu and Nine now for Captaincy.
"I do have some experience leading, but I am better suited as a Healer right now." Shinobu answered.
"Then I'll be the Captain then and Shinobu can be my Vice Captain." Nine said as Shinobu nodded as she then smirked at Ragna. "Guess that means you have to follow my orders now~." Nine said in a singsong voice.
"So long as you're reasonable and you don't treat me like your damn slave." Ragna muttered.
"Well then." Eina said as she let out a small cough to get everyone's attention. "Since everyone's new, the guild will assign you an advisor which happens to be me. My name is Eina Tulle. So, allow me to fill you in what you need to know." She said as she started explaining the basics to the group and what they could or could not do, and recommended they don't move past the Fifth Floor as newbies.
"I see." Nine hummed as she nodded at the info. "So, the Dungeon can be considered a living entity with an extreme intolerance for both mortals and gods alike."
"Yes, that's why it's especially forbidden for Deities to enter, as they can cause irregular monsters to appear and wreak havoc." Eina nodded.
"And no one's ever been to the bottom?" Shinobu asked.
"No one." Eina confirmed. "The furthest anyone has ever gone down was the Zeus Familia and Hera Familia before their defeat and loss of power fifteen years ago. I believe they made it to around the fifty-ninth floor during their time."
"Does the guild have any maps about the dungeon?" Akame asked.
"Yes, we do, we carry detailed maps of all currently explored floors with the type of monsters likely to appear." Eina said before she deflated a bit. "Not that many people care for it."
"Seems foolish." Nine stated bluntly, going in unprepared without a guide was just asking to get killed. "Still now we just need to prepare for our Dungeon Exploration now."
"From what I see everyone had their own weapons except for Bell, Nine and Emma here." Eina noted, looking at their weapons. "The guild can provide you with gear for your mission."
"That's very generous of you." Shinobu said kindly.
"Unfortunately, you will have to pay us back though." Eina pointed. "Sorry." She said sheepishly.
"We can deal with that later, just show us the armory." Ragna said as Eina did that as the group waited for Emma and Bell to pick up their weapons while Nine didn't pick up anything. Emma picked up two short swords, whereas Bell picked up a long sword and a shield for themselves.
"You're not picking up a weapon? Eina asked Nine in confusion.
"I don't need it." Nine brushed off.
As Eina was about to say something, Ragna spoke up. "Trust me, she's more than capable of handling herself." He said as Nine smirked at the compliment to her power. And soon everyone headed back to the reception room where they paid for Emma and Bell's weapons.
"Thank you for paying for us Izanami." Bell said as he and Emma bowed to Izanami.
"You're my children, of course I would do this." Izanami said kindly as the group soon left the guild to head towards the dungeon, once they were there, Izanami gave each member a heartfelt hug, not even Nine could resist the hug from the surprisingly kind Goddess. "This is where we must part, so please, stay safe all of you and come back to me." Izanami said with tears down her eyes.
"Don't worry, we'll come back." Ragna said in a softer and kind tone as Izanami nodded and the group made their way towards the dungeon.
"So, this is the Dungeon." Ragna noted as he looked around the walls glowing a light blue color, it was rather dreary, chilly, with strange sources of light coming from the walls making it seem like one brightly lit tunnel instead of something deep underground.
"Hearing it from Eina is one thing, but seeing it for myself is another." Shinobu said as she looked around in awe as cracks began to form on the walls and monsters came out.
"What a strange Phenomenon." Nine noted as she made a fire ball and threw it at the monsters, killing them instantly as more monsters popped out and everyone jumped into action save for Bell and Emma as they were rather nervous.
"So, this is a Goblin." Akame noted looking at the monster she just killed then carefully carving into its chest and pulled out a small crystal. Once she did, the monster's corpse began to dissipate into black mist and be absorbed back into the dungeon.
"I assume these are magic Stones." Ragna noted as he held a crystal of his own as he casually swung his sword and bisected a goblin with ease. "Collect and trade it with the guild for currency, the larger the stone, the bigger the prize." He remembered the lessons.
"It seems that most of us can fight well." Shinobu said as she killed another Goblin. "So, Emma, Bell let's see what you two got." She said as another group of Goblins came in and charged at them.
Emma drew her blades and rushed forward, striking the closest goblin in the front. The monster slumped forward, unmoving as the other goblin screeched at her in rage. Emma felt her heart pound in her chest before one of the monsters lunged at her, stepping back she quickly dodged the attack just as its claws missed her face and swung her sword up, slashing the monster and knocking it into a wall. "I did it!" Emma said in excitement.
"Excellent work Emma, Bell please take care of the other half." Shinobu requested as Bell went forward to attack as well. Like Emma, he can feel his heart pounding in his chest at the monsters lunged at him. He used his shield to knock it aside before swinging his sword to chop off its head and then the momentum from his swing to strike down the second goblin, and killing it. Then he quickly dodged the attack of third Goblin before kicking it then he struck it before it can get back.
"I did it." Bell said happily as Emma nodded in excitement for her fellow rookie. "I have to tell Izanami about this." He said excitedly as he rushed back, only to be picked off his feet by Ragna, who grabbed him by the crook of his shirt.
"Calm down kid, you don't have to do that." Ragna said looking amused.
"Someone's rather excited." Shinobu teased a bit.
"Like a kid wanting to tell mommy something good." Nine added in some more teasing as Bell turned red and looked embarrassed as Akame and Emma shared a good-natured giggle.
"All right then, let's head to next floor seeing how we handled the monsters here." Ragna said as they all nodded and headed towards the second floor.
"But didn't Miss Eina said we should stick around the first floor for now?" Bell asked looking down at the stairs to the second floor.
"We got four skilled fighters." Nine replied, remembering how good Akame and Shinobu was. "And from what I checked, the first four floors only spawn, Goblins, Kobolds, and sometimes Dungeon Lizards."
And so, with the lack of protest, the group headed down and faced the newer enemy in the form of dog creatures known as Kobolds and the four experienced fighters were able to take them down with ease. And soon the group finally made their way to the stairs of the fifth floor.
"Are we going to continue to go down?" Emma asked nervously, Bell who was also nervous like her nodded. As while they may have helped out a bit, it was Ragna, Nine, Akame, and Shinobu who did most of the work.
"I was simply curious as to how far we can go in one day, save for you two everyone could still head down." Nine shrugged as Bell and Emma looked at each other nervously.
"How about me and Akame stay here with them while you and Ragna go deeper?" Shinobu suggested upon seeing the nervous looks Bell and Emma had.
"Good idea." Nine nodded. "Akame, Shinobu, just support Emma and Bell for now, let them gain experience on their own and only interfere if you believe them to be in any serious danger." She ordered as the two girls nodded as Nine turned around and grabbed Ragna by his coat, causing him to yelp as she dragged him with her. "Follow me." She ordered.
"Don't drag me around like that!" Ragna yelled.
"I'm your Captain, expect me to be physical at times." Nine replied as the four could hear the two arguing all the way through.
"They're definitely in love." Shinobu said happily.
"Please don't say that around them." Emma said as everyone else sweat dropped.
"WHAT THE HELL WERE ALL OF YOU THINKING?!" Eina shouted at the Izanami Familia, her face red with anger as the group looked kind of unsure.
"I SAID TO STICK TO THE FIRST FLOOR, NOT TRAVEL ALL FOUR FLOORS!" Eina shouted.
"Only Bell, Emma, Shinobu and Akame were in the first four floors though." Ragna pointed out.
"THEN WHERE WERE YOU AND YOUR CAPTAIN THEN!?" Eina shouted at Ragna and Nine, both of whom winced at the volume of her voice.
"We've reached the twelfth floor on our own but decided to head back to check up on the rest our Familia." Nine said casually like it was nothing for her and Ragna to handle.
"You what?!" Eina gasped, where the hell did Izanami find these people?!
"Please come down miss Eina." Bell pleaded as he notice the attention on them.
Eina took a deep breath and calmed down to speaking normally, albeit, rather frustrated. "Bell remember when I said that Adventurers must not go on adventures in the dungeon as newbies." Eina said heatedly.
"Ara, Ara, you should calm down Eina, your anger will just make you wrinkly." Shinobu pointed out as Eina gained a bulged vein at that.
"That's easy for you to say, first time in the dungeon and you think to go down all the way to the twelfth floor?" She demanded in exasperation from Nine.
"Eina, I know what you're trying to do for and us, and I am grateful for the concern you showed." Nine spoke up.
"Then why did you leave most of your Familia behind just to explore?" Eina asked in exasperation.
"Because I'm their Captain, I know how strong each of them is, and judged both Akame and Shinobu capable enough to take care of Emma and Bell." Nine said seriously.
"I just worry, it's not the first time a group of Adventurers got wiped out like this." Eina sighed.
"Don't worry Miss Eina." Bell said optimistically. "I promised that we'll come back for you."
"You better, for both your Goddess's sake and your own as well." Eina said sharply and after that, the group brought out the Magic Stones they collected as Eina counted them up and their value. "So much." Eina said in surprise as she continued counting them up and got the total.
"A hundred thousand Valis in the first day, that's not bad." Akame noted.
"Well now, time to go back, I am sure Izanami is worried about us." Shinobu said as everyone nodded.
"Welcome back everyone!" Izanami greeted as she rushed out from their home with a relieved look on her face. "I was worried that you may not have returned and didn't go to work out of fear." Izanami said softly.
"It's okay, we're here." Ragna said quickly upon seeing Izanami tearing up. 'She really does act more like Noel.' He thought to himself.
"I can't help it; you are my first children after all!" Izanami whined.
"Well let's go inside, we can tell you about our time after we clean ourselves." Shinobu said placatingly.
"Do you think we should tell Izanami about Ragna and Nine going to twelfth floor?" Emma whispered to Bell.
"She'll find out either way with Nine bragging about it, and her Falna telling Izanami." Bell replied back as the group told them about their adventures and started to make Izanami cry a lot when they mentioned going past the recommended first floor and even more so when Ragna and Nine went all the way down to the twelfth floor.
"Now, now, we did come back safely." Shinobu said trying her best to console Izanami.
"You went past the first floor and you two went even deeper." Izanami sniffled. "Do you have any idea how worried I was when I heard that?" She demanded with a pout.
"What a Goddess we got." Nine muttered as she rubbed her temple, but she did appreciate being cared for.
"She's just worried, we her first kids after all." Emma said in Izanami's defense.
"Maybe the both of you should slow down tomorrow." Bell suggested.
"Well, if she'll stop worrying then." Nine shrugged.
"Fine by me." Ragna said as he immediately took charge of cooking, to everyone's relief, and started making dinner.
"So Akame." Nine addressed the black haired red eyed girl as the Familia sat down around the dining table. "How did Bell and Emma do today?" She asked.
"They can fight against Goblins easily, so long as they don't get surrounded, but have a harder time against Kobolds due their size and agility." Akame responded.
"I see…" Nine hummed. "Maybe before we go back to the dungeon, we should get Emma and Bell some more practice fighting, maybe against you, Shinobu, or Ragna. But knowing the brute he's likely to break something while sparring" Nine snipped at Ragna, who flipped her off.
"How about teach them Ars Magus as well?" Izanami asked after she finally calmed down.
"After they pass the first four floors on their own, as they only managed to get that far with everyone's help and learning Ars Magus is going to be difficult." Nine said, labeling her conditions as Bell got excited. "But you must remember to pass my condition." She said as Bell nodded.
Soon Ragna finished making dinner, and everyone enjoyed a relatively nice and peaceful dinner among themselves as they could tell Ragna was much better at cooking and soon once they were done, all of the members headed off to sleep to prepare for the next day. Thus ending the first day of the Izanami Familia.
