Harry Potter had mere moments til his 16th birthday. He lay in his lumpy bed at number 4 Privet Drive, making no noise and pretending he didn't exist. He would be grateful when he got to leave there later that day. He always hated coming back here. The Dursleys treated him worse than a Malfoy treated a house elf and that was saying something. He never knew why old Dumbles made him come back every summer. God forbid he didn't get ignored and starved while made to do all the work. With a click, the clock rolled to midnight.

"Happy birthday to…" he didn't even get to finish his sentence before his whole body hurts. It felt like his body was on fire and he was doing his best not to scream. The last thing he needed was Uncle Vernon showing up. The pain ramped up and up until Harry passed out.

The following morning sunlight streamed in through the windows of Harry's bedroom, shining right in his eyes. There was a groaning noise as the individual within the bedroom rolled over trying to get more sleep. Hair fell in the sleeping teens face and he reached up and brushed it away. If it had been a cartoon, one would have waited a moment longer and seen his eyes pop open. Immediately the young teen felt off. His body felt foreign and strange. The first thing to be noticed was the long black hair in front of his face but as he sat up he became aware that it wasn't the only thing that had changed. He became aware of two sizable mounds under his shirt that had not been there the previous night. Making a check of his new body, it was definitely female though he had no idea how this had happened.

Sneaking into the bathroom he saw a young girl a little shorter than he was yesterday with long black hair, a figure that many would consider attractive and his mother's big green eyes. He was starting to panic and as he did so his hair began to change colors until it stopped at an aqua color. He looked nothing like he had the night before and he hadn't even noticed he wasn't wearing his glasses yet. He had to get out of here but there was only one person he knew who could change her hair color like that and he had to get there without Petunia noticing.

He focused on his old self but only managed to get a more androgenous figure as his chest deflated and his figure became more gender neutral. His hair also shrunk to a short shoulder length. Maybe Tonks would know what to do. Putting on the loosest fitting clothes he had, he pulled the hood on the sweatshirt up to cover his face before donning his invisibility cloak. Carefully and quietly he snuck out of the house and down to the corner before sticking his wand out. With a kerbang, the Knight Bus screeched to a stop in front of him and sure enough Stan Turnpike looked around in confusion before he removed the invisibility cloak.

"That's a neat cloak! Where to?"

"Leaky Cauldron please," he said softly, but in an obviously female voice.

"Sure thing young lady! Hop aboard," he said, tearing and handing her a ticket. Harry blushed and took a seat in the middle away from both driver and Stan. He was doing his best to hide under the hooded sweatshirt. Moments later they were at the Leaky Cauldron and he departed with a soft thank you. Stepping into the pub, a lot of people glanced up at him which made him feel nervous as he headed towards the floo. Quickly he grabbed some floo powder and stepped into the fireplace.

"Ministry of Magic!" With a rush of green flame he disappeared only to find himself tumbling out in the foyer he had been in far too many times for his liking. Throwing his invisibility cloak on once more he made his way to the lifts and took one up to the DMLE on the second floor. Weaving through the rows of desks, he finally spotted the auror with the bubblegum pink hair near the back of the room at a desk he presumed to be hers. With his cloak on he snuck over to her, snatching a quill and parchment from a nearby desk. He quickly scrawled a note to her and set it on her desk. The young auror looked at the folded piece of parchment that had seemingly just floated to her desk. She opened the note before looking around surprised. She quickly tossed the note in her drawer before getting up and wandering down the aisle to a privacy room. She opened the door and waited a minute before she felt someone tap her shoulder from in the room with her. She closed the door and drew her wand, warding the door and room for extra privacy.

"Harry? Is that you? Are you in here?"

"Yes it's me but not me. Tonks, something happened…" He pulled the invisibility cloak off and set it on the table in the center of the room. The feminine voice threw the auror off as Tonks looked at the young person standing before her in clothes that were way too big.

"If you're Harry, tell me something that only he would know."

"The first thing you said to me was Wotcher Harry and you repeatedly trip over the foot shaped umbrella stand at Grimmauld Place. You hate being called by your first name and you're in the Order of the Phoenix led by Albus Dumbledore."

"Good enough for me but what happened….and why do you sound like a girl?" The young teen pulled back the hood of the sweatshirt and Tonks gasped. She stood looking at someone with short aqua hair and a feminine face. The emerald eyes she would recognize anywhere though they seemed to be slightly bigger.

"Er...um..well...I guess...because I am. It started last night. I was counting down to my birthday in my room and when it hit midnight my body felt like it was on fire. It was worse than a Crucio. There was so much pain that I passed out. When I awoke, I looked like…" Harry shut his eyes and let it's body return to its base form which was definitely female as the chest ballooned out and the hips hair rolled down his back until it returned to its original length and turned black. Tonks eyes widened as her heart beat faster. "This…"

Despite her best restraint, Tonks found the young girl extremely attractive. Sure, she'd flirted with Harry before and she didn't think he was bad looking, but this girl. This attractive young lady was the Harry she'd been holding back feelings for. All Tonks could say in return was, "Wow...you're beautiful." The young woman blushed.

"ER...I...well...thanks...but how do I fix this? What happened," Harry asked as his hair started to turn aqua once more. Tonks walked over and gave the young woman a hug, blushing as they touched.

"It'll be ok. I'll take the rest of the day off and we'll go back to my place and I'll help but I have to say...I think you're a metamorphmagus like me. Normally it's known as the child is growing up by the displays of ability but in rare cases it waits until they turn 16. Nobody is quite sure why but they speculate it has something to do with the way they are raised, which would make sense in your case but nobody knows for sure. There are only a handful of us that exist in the world and I thought I was the only one on this continent but I guess I was wrong. Welcome to the club Harry! We'll get you a membership card and a t-shirt but first I've got to get the rest of the day off! You're welcome to change back or just throw the invisibility cloak back on. I'll apparate us once we get out of the ministry. Sound good?" The young girl nodded and put the invisibility cloak back on, disappearing from sight. Tonks felt a small hand on her back letting her know that the young girl was following her. Tonks removed the wards she had placed around the room and headed out, the young girl's hand on her back the entire time letting her know that she was still there.

With a quick note that turned into a paper airplane and disappeared down the hallway Tonks headed towards the lifts with the young girl in tow. The pair managed to get out of the ministry without any trouble. Once outside, Harry took off the invisibility cloak leaving Tonks to stare at the attractive young woman as several thoughts ran through her mind. She shook her head of the thoughts, knowing that it wasn't the time as the young girl looked lost and scared. Holding out her hand the young woman took it and they both disappeared from the street. Moments later the pair appeared in a rather disorganized flat.

"Sorry about the mess," she replied waving her wand before things started cleaning and organizing themselves. "Wasn't really expecting company but then I guess you weren't expecting all this…" Harry shook his head no as the pair sat on the couch. "There is a lot to know about being a metamorphmagus and it won't all be easy but you'll need to hear it ok?" Harry took a deep breath and nodded.

"First off, the majority of metamorphs have always been female. There have been only a few male metamorphs to ever exist. You're the only one I know of to have ever changed genders though. The rest of the female metamorphs were born as female."

"Lucky me," Harry murmured.

"Which reminds me...you'll probably need to get caught up on the whole...being a girl thing. Though I suppose since I'm your mentor now I guess that would fall to me. That brings me to my second point. Every metamorphmagus has a mentor. One they stay with until they get their powers under control. This...this will..er…" Tonks' hair changed color as she blushed, "require us to sleep in the same bed every night and we have to be touching. This allows my natural abilities to help yours. If not there is a chance you can go into this sort of...magical shock where you start randomly changing until your core is drained or...well...let's not go there. Gory details and all." She looked pale at the thought of it, which Harry noticed and raised an eyebrow. Tonks looked at the young girl and sighed.

"It almost happened to me when I was staying with my mentor, Eliza. She was kind of a prude in that she didn't want to share a bed with another woman thing. So we had two beds in the same room not very far apart. One night my body started changing rapidly before it ballooned outward. Almost as if I were gone to explode. Thankfully, Eliza heard the commotion and got to me in time. After that, we shared a bed much to her annoyance and continuing assurance that she didn't have any interest in women...which was fine because she was a bit stuck up for my taste anyway." Harry's jaw dropped and Tonks chuckled. "Yes. I like men and women and everyone in between. I don't suppose much care what a person looks like so much as what's inside. Take you for example...I don't care if you're Harry or Hailey. I think you're an amazing human being regardless." Harry turned bright red.

"Hailey," he asked confused.

"Well I figured that with you being a woman and all…" Now it was Tonks turn to blush. Harry shook his head.

"It's fine. I just...hadn't gotten that far I suppose. Good thing I have a cute highly trained Auror for a mentor." Tonks blushed at hearing that he thought she was cute. Sure there was an age difference but it wasn't really that far.

"Hailey Jasmine Potter. That way you don't have to change the initials on your trunk and you kept the flower name like your Mom's side of the family " The young lady thought about it and nodded. "That reminds me... we're uh...gonna have to get you some clothes as well as the official paperwork to change your name. Also did you claim your head of house yet?" Harry shook his head. The gears in Tonks head turned and she finally spoke up. "Alright we'll...uhh...here's what I've got for a plan so far. Today we'll let you get used to the changes and relax. Tomorrow we're going to Gringotts for paperwork and to claim your head of house. Thankfully both of those can be done at the same time. After that, we're going to have to take you shopping I'm afraid...wait...is your stuff still back at the Dursleys?" Harry nodded. "Do you have anyone who can get it?" Harry thought about it for a moment.

"Dobby!" With an excitable pop the house elf appeared. "The great misses Harry Potter sir calls Dobby?" Harry facepalmed while Tonks laughed.

"Just...Harry...er... actually forget that. Call me Hailey...Hailey Potter." She looked back to Tonks who was still smirking. "Might as well start somewhere." Looking back to the elf, I need you to go to the Dursleys and bring all my stuff back here ok?" The elf nodded excitedly before disappearing. She sat back on the couch and sighed, her eyes closing. She felt Tonks shift on the couch until they were next to each other.

"Happy birthday Hailey... I'm sorry I didn't get to say it before. It's just been a rather...unique day." Hailey's head slumped to Tonks shoulder. The older girl wrapping her arm around the younger for comfort.

"Thanks Tonks. I don't know what I'd do without you. You are very literally my life saver right now. Happy birthday to me. Guess what fate got for me? Womanhood! I didn't even get a gift receipt." Tonks giggled.

"Neither did I but you'll find out that being a woman isn't so bad. I enjoy it and I'm sure you will too after we get through the adjustment stage."

"We'll I guess you'll just have to show me. I mean what else are mentors for." The thoughts that ran through the aurors mind weren't exactly pure by any means.

"I'll hold you to that Miss Potter, but only after you've had some time to adjust." Hailey looked up at her confused before her brain clicked and she turned bright red. It was then that her brain clicked about something else.

"Tonks…it's my birthday."

"I know. I said Happy Birthday."

"No no. It's my birthday. Meaning the Weasleys are busy throwing a party for me but...but...but...I'm a girl."

"Me too," Tonks responded with a grin.

"Yeah but you've always been a girl. I got 16 years of womanhood overnight with none of the experience."

"You can't argue with the outcome though," Tonks replied, waggling her eyebrows. She watched as the younger girl's hair turned aqua once more, indicating panic or worry from what Tonks had seen. She pulled the younger girl even closer and began rubbing her back. "It's all right love. I'm here. I'm not going anywhere." Tonks felt arms wrap around her and her heart threatened to beat out of her chest.

"What are we gonna do? I mean I don't want to disappoint everyone because they're working so hard but if I go I might still be a disappointment now that I'm a girl besides if I go over there now Mrs. Weasley will tell Dumbledore where I am and then he'll want to get involved…." Hailey was rambling and on the verge of anxiety when Tonks used her free hand to turn Hailey's head to look at her and placed a kiss on her lips. Hailey froze as her mind put the pieces together before she melted into the kiss. Her lips met those of the older Auror and all worries ceased to be. A minute later the two girls separated though both were still blushing.

"Sorry...you were going on and on and I thought you might hyperventilate and I didn't know what else to do," Tonks apologized to the young girl still cuddling up to her.

"You...I...me...we…" Hailey struggled to find words much less form a sentence as Tonks giggled.

"That good huh?" Hailey nodded and Tonks beamed. "You know I've thought of doing that for a while now, even before you became Hailey." Hailey looked surprised.

"Really? With me? I mean you're beautiful and smart and funny and just this amazing person and I'm just...me. Top of the Death Eaters Most Wanted and hunted by Tom Riddle himself."

"You forgot the Wizarding World's most eligible Bachelor who is beyond kind and understanding. Who cares for everyone around and who isn't bad on the eyes," Tonks added. Hailey blushed once more which felt like her current state today. Just one big blush, all because of Tonks. A girl she had admired and looked up to. To make it better they had kissed and all her troubles were forgotten. She closed her eyes once more, a smile on her face as she leaned back up against the pink haired Auror. "As much as I enjoyed that...you still didn't make a decision about tonight. I mean they are throwing you a birthday party, why not make it a coming out party too? You're going to have to tell them all anyway. I'm sure they'd rather hear it from you than from the paper."

"I suppose..but...only if you come with me."

"Of course I will Sweets. Now let's see about getting you cleaned up." An hour later, Hailey found herself head to toe in Tonks' clothes. A black and purple tie dye shirt, with jeans and a pair of simple black boots that Tonks had forgotten about. Thankfully all her clothing, including the undergarments were charmed to fit the wearer. It would do for now but Hailey had a hard time looking at herself in the form fitting clothing. Sure she looked really good in Tonks' clothes...you know...for a girl...and that was the part she was having trouble with. She still hadn't gotten used to the whole girl thing and now she was going to have to parade herself in front of a bunch of people. On the plus side Tonks would be by her side. She didn't know what to think about everything but the one thing she did know was she enjoyed having the auror around... especially the whole kissing part. She definitely hoped there would be more of that even though it meant that they would probably have to figure things out at some point.

Hailey was looking at herself in the bathroom mirror when the door to the bedroom opened and Tonks stepped out in a green tank top that showed off her belly button piercing as well as a part of jeans shorts and a pair of Tennis shoes. Hailey's eyes wandered up and down her body before she realized she was staring.

"Like what you see Potter?" Hailey nodded dumbly. Tonks smirked. "You don't look too bad yourself, though I have to say I really dig the long aqua hair." Hailey smiled.

"Thanks. Who knows, maybe I'll keep it like you keep the pink. We'd make quite the pair."

"Two metamorph girls with awesome hair colors. I'd be surprised if we didn't make the cover of Witch Weekly much less the Prophet." Both girls stared at one another, their hearts pounding, as if they were in a battle of wills to see who would break first. "We should...er...I mean I will... um...go over there and get everyone together then I'll come back. We'll floo together ok? I won't leave your side the entire time."

"Does that mean you're my date to my birthday slash coming out party," Hailey asked with a grin. Tonks smirked in response.

"I suppose so but I expect an actual date too." Hailey's smile grew even wider.

"Best present I could ask for."

"You have no idea Miss Potter." With that Tonks disappeared through the flame. Hailey smiled as she looked in the mirror. Eventually she would get used to the woman looking back but for now her mind was focused on her mentor and potential paramore. She had to admit that while long hair was new, she adored the color, even if she knew it was currently because she was worried and nervous. She expected it to change all sorts of colors tonight, however she was sure that Tonks would help her with understanding her new abilities. They just didn't get much of a chance as it had been quite the busy day. She knew that tomorrow would be hard as well but with Tonks by her side, she felt like she could handle it all even if it's just one step at a time. A few minutes later and a familiar head of pink hair popped through the doorway.

"Are you ready?" She asked softly. "Everyone's gathered."

"Yes...no...maybe...I don't know. I can't help but be nervous and I don't think my hair can go anymore aqua." Tonks pulled her into another kiss at the excuse of helping the young woman relax. It very much did as the pair walked into the fireplace with Hailey still wearing a large smile and in a daze. Before Hailey knew it she was standing in front of a gaggle of redheads, a bushy haired witch and one Remus Lupin. The twins let out a loud whistle upon seeing Hailey, causing her to blush from embarrassment and her hair to turn pink as she moved to hide behind Tonks.

"That's enough," Tonks spoke up. "While she is quite adorable I'm afraid Hailey has had a rather long and difficult day. Everyone I'd like you to meet Hailey Jasmine Potter. This morning she learned she was a metamorphmagus."

"Wait...Harry has a sister," Ron asked confused. Hermione's eyes widened.

"NO! Harry?!" Everyone else's eyes went wide at the realization that Hermione had. Hailey nodded and waved.

"Uhh...hi everyone," Hailey said softly. "Sorry about this…" Hermione looked between the two metamorphs.

"How...what...why...how," Hermione spit out as her mind processed this.

"Most metamorphmagi are born female. Only a few male ones have ever been born. Hailey is the first to change genders that I'm aware of. I'll be writing to my mentor to see if she has ever heard of such a thing but I doubt it. Secondly, Harry will be staying with me for at least the remainder of the summer as a result of this. Technically I'm her mentor on her new abilities and until such time as she is able to fully control it you may see us touching, holding hands or in contact. Essentially it means that my magical core and experience is helping hers adjust and stabilize. We would ask however that you wait at least a week before informing Dumbledore. If he comes asking just say he's safe. It's not much time. I'm just asking for a little time to help Hailey get used to being both a metamorphmagus and a woman." With that she looked around the room and watched as everyone slowly processed it. Hermione was the first to jump and approach Hailey to give her one of her patented hugs.

"Happy birthday Hailey! If there's anything I can do to help, let me know!"

"Thanks Hermione," the younger metamorphmagus replied with a smile.

"I love the name Hailey by the way! How did you pick it?'

"Er...uh...Tonks picked it out…" she said, turning red once more.

"Well I think it's very fitting!" As the pair continued to talk, the rest of the room caught up with Remus moving to hug and wish Hailey a happy birthday. The pair discussed how her father and godfather were probably chuckling at this from the afterlife.

"So...if Harry is like you...than couldn't he just go back to being him," Mrs. Weasley asked.

"First off, Hailey can't just go back to being her because she is her. Right now, this is her base form minus the hair color. The Harry that you know physically is gone. Secondly changing genders is incredibly difficult and very draining to do so it's going to be a while before she could do that even if she wanted to. We'd have to start by strengthening her magical core as well as her physical core. In the end all it would be is Hailey putting on a Harry disguise not to mention the negative impact that would have on her," Tonks replied rather defensively without meaning to. She felt Hailey squeeze her hand in thanks and reassurance.

"If we may…"

"We've talked it over…"

"And come to the conclusion…"

"That Hailey is definitely fit…" the twins took turns speaking before grinning at the end, causing her to blush and hide behind Tonks while the twins burst out laughing. During this entire thing, nobody had seen the youngest Weasley disappear.

"Forge here is taken by Angelina…"

"However Gred is available…"

"Maybe you'd even get to know us well enough…"

"To tell us apart…" Both twins burst into laughter once more before Molly swatted them. Hailey was firmly hidden behind Tonks with Hermione and Lupin trying to talk to her. Tonks once again looked defensive but didn't say anything. She knew this was going to be hard for Hailey and she meant it when she said that she would be there every step of the way. Suddenly Hailey stepped back to Tonks' side, her hair shifting back to its normal black as she had a plan to get them back. Tonks saw the mischievous smirk and the twinkle in Hailey's eyes and knew the twins were in for it.

"I don't think either one of you are worthy to date the daughter of Prongs. I'm sure Padfoot would agree but since he's gone…" she turned to Lupin with a grin that caused him to smile. "What do you think Moony?"

"What? Them? Hardly!" He scoffed. The twins' eyes went wide.

"Moony…"

"As in the Moony…"

"And Prongs daughter…"

"Padfoots gone…

"Are you saying that Professor Lupin…

"Is Moony from the Marauders…"

"And your father was Prongs…"

"That would mean…"

"Sirius was Padfoot!" They exclaimed together.

"Took them long enough," Hailey stated, rolling her eyes playfully.

"You just had to give them all the pieces…" Tonks added causing Hailey to laugh. A sound which was like heaven itself to the ears of the older Auror. Hailey's hair slowly shifted to green in her happiness as she stayed close to Tonks, still holding each others' hands. For lack of knowing what else to do, Arthur came over and shook Hailey's hand and wished her happy birthday. He then headed outside. The only one who hadn't said anything was Ron. He had just kind of sat there for a while. Finally he stood up and mumbled "Happy Birthday" before heading upstairs.

Hailey felt like she had taken a crucio to the heart as her eyes started to water. Tonks felt the young girl tremble as her hair turned to a pale blue. Tonks' hair on the other hand had changed to red. She wrapped her arms around the girl, pulling her close.

"I'll go talk to him," Hermione said softly but with a tone that let her know that she wasn't happy with her actions before she too disappeared up the stairs.

"Don't mind Ron…"

"He's a bit of a git…"

"Probably just confused about whether to hug you…"

"Or ask you out…"

"Though we had suspected…"

"That he had eyes for a bushy bookworm…" The twins said in their strange twin speak trying to help make her feel better.

"I'm going to take her home. Thank you Mrs. Weasley for everything." With that the pair of metamorphs disappeared from the Burrow.
