Chapter 11

Tony almost jumped for joy at that, filling a mug with coffee and handing one to her, then Steve.

"Finally no more dishes" he almost yelled and they all started laughing.

"Did you give any thought to my offer then?" Tony asked once they all sat down and Steve started on breakfast. Steve turned around at that confused Tony noticed,

"I offered her a place at the compound with us only half time of course to be split between Coulson and me to train with the Avengers" Steve's eyes went a little wide.

"Can't get rid of me that easy Capsicle" Skye winked at Steve and he just laughed and turned back to cooking.

"I want to talk it over with Coulson first make sure he is okay with it, but yes I think I would like that splitting my time between the two" Skye sipped her coffee when Steve turned back around,

"Perfect than Tony and Coulson and have split custody of you" Steve winked and Skye spit her coffee out and started to laugh, Tony gave him a glare which didn't go unnoticed. Skye just shoved his shoulder a little,

"Come on Tony, it was funny. Coulson has always considered me a daughter and you have been very protective which I am more than grateful for" Tony just forced a laugh and nodded.

"I guess we should get packed up then right?" Skye asked after breakfast and Tony nodded letting her go up first. He turned to Steve,

"It was a joke, calm down" Steve said, already knowing what Tony was thinking Tony just glared at him.

"Are you going to let Coulson know we are coming back?" Steve asked, doing the dishes before they left.

"Already texted him we are coming in today, I didn't tell him anything else though I will let Skye do that" Tony rubbed his face, it was time to go back to reality.

Steve and Tony were loading up the jet when they both turned around to see Skye walking toward the lake Steve gave him a little push,

"Go talk to her, I will finish this" he said grabbing the last of the bags from Tony, he walked toward her.

"You okay kid?" Tony came up beside her putting his arm around her shoulder she took a deep breath,

"Do you think I am ready to go back? I just feel at peace here I don't want to go back to the grief and depression" She leaned into Tony letting him comfort her.

"You are stronger than you think Skye, I know you won't go back to that. I know you will continue to get better because I will be there for you, you have family Skye and we will protect you even from yourself. You have been through more than anyone I know and keep pulling yourself back to happiness, don't give up, keep fighting like I know you want to. Like I know you will." Skye looked up at him wiping a stray tear and smiled.

"Tony, you would've been a great father I hope you know that '' Tony smiled at her bringing her into a full hug so she wouldn't see his tears and how much that meant to him.

"Thanks kid, maybe someday I will get that chance" hopefully with her.

They flew back to the hidden base Coulson and May where the ones to greet them. Coulson ran up to Skye pulling her into a tight hug, Tony felt a little jealous but Coulson and her were close so he needed to let it go. May noted the look Tony gave them even if it was just a split second.

"Skye you look good" May commented and Skye turned to her smiling.

"It's good to see you too May" she looked back to Coulson,

"Can we talk?" Skye asked and Coulson looked between all of them and nodded.

They all followed Coulson to his office quickly before anyone saw them all.

"What's wrong?" May asked as soon as the door closed behind Steve,

"Actually the opposite, Tony offered to have my train with the Avengers to work with them since I have my powers" Skye looked at Coulson who starred at Tony,

"I would split my time between here and the Avenger compound. It is only an hour away" She continued while Coulson and Tony still glared at each other. Skye looked to Steve for help he stepped forward,

"I know it will be hard Coulson, but her potential as an Avenger it would give her an amazing opportunity to help the world" he tried but Coulson never took his eyes off Tony who just crossed his arms smiling slightly.

"We just got her back and you are already trying to take her away from me, away from her family?" Coulson seethed,

"Some family, you lock her up, dump her at a cabin, then have another section of Shield hunt her, and then lose her, only for her to witness the death of her mother and many others. How much more do you want her to go through here? You think you can keep her safe?" Tony's voice deadly soft, Skye just looked at him shocked, gently putting her hand on Tony's shoulder.

"Tony, Coulson saved me many times, he has helped me through all of it" Skye tried but Tony just turned his head to her and she saw fire in his eyes.

"The same man who put you in those situations, like when you got shot and almost died or when you got kidnapped twice? They injected you with alien blood Skye. He didn't know if it would save you or not but he took that risk anyway." Skye took a step back looking at May and Steve.

"She is an agent Tony, I protected her as much as I could any other agent. How do you know about the alien blood? Those files were supposed to be gone" Coulson asked him, trying not to raise his voice.

"You should've done more, and you might want to upgrade your security systems. I found out everything, saw everything that was done to her." Tony turned away and started to pace. Skye stood there shocked.

"I am not going to argue with you Tony, not when you weren't there with us." he turned to Skye.

"I will allow it, Skye, if you feel like this is your best chance you can train with them and continue to work with us, since we are supposed to be partners with the Avengers now, it might help having one of ours in the Avenger compound." Coulson looked to Steve who nodded his head.

Tony and Coulson didn't speak again while they worked out the details on how Skye would split her time, she would stay at the base for a month and then at the compound for a month. If any missions came up for either she could make the choice to go or not no matter where she is. Once they were done they decided that Skye would not stay at the base first but get to know the Avengers compound since everything was quiet at Shield.

Skye went to find Fitz and Simmons letting them know what was going on along with Hunter and Mack. She said goodbyes again and packed a few more things from her room Steve offered to carry the extra bags for her. May was waiting for them at the jet.

"Just so you know I got Cap to do Tai Chi with me every morning. He even got pretty good at it" May smiled at that but looked her over.

"Are you sure this is what you want? To go with them?" May asked quietly while Steve dropped her bags off in the jet. Skye hugged her tightly.

"Yes I do May, I will miss you guys but this gives me a chance to bridge this gap between all of us. Also for me to train more with my powers" May smiled at her touching her cheeks softly.

"If you ever need me you know how to get in touch with me okay?" Skye nodded softly. Tony watched the interaction before coming up behind her making May stiffen once more, lowering her hand quickly.

"I need to talk to May for just a minute. I will meet you on board and tell Cap to get it ready to take off" Skye just looked between them two and nodded.

"What Stark?" May crossed her arms,

"I need you to send me over Skye's blood samples from before and after her change." He told her quietly looking at the jet.

"Why would I do that? What are you looking for?" May really looked at him this time,

"I am looking for information, that is all you need to know for now. You know I won't hurt her May" She nodded finally and he let out a breath.

"Keep me updated Tony, even if you think we are to blame for what happened to her, she is still ours to protect too" Tony nodded at her before walking onto the jet.

"Are you ready to become an Avenger kid?"
