Chapter 14

Tony stood there almost in disbelief his DNA matches with Skye's before and after her change even. Skye is his daughter, Jaying lied she went home to have Skye so that he wouldn't know about her. Tony started to see red then, he started to think about Skye's life and how much she suffered. She could've been with him, he could've protected her but Jaying stole her away and took her from him. He felt someone grip his shoulder,

"Tony calm down, just breathe" Steve told him, he saw the change in Tony's eyes go from excitement to pure rage, his breathing getting more and more ragged. Tony tried but he couldn't breath; she lied to him and Skye paid the price of that lie. He heard her voice then and then felt her hands on his face he could barely lift his eyes to her,

"Tony?! What is going on? Tony look at me please" Skye came to the lab to see where it was and she wanted to make sure Tony got the sandwich she made him. But when she entered she saw Steve's hand on his shoulder and knew something was wrong so she rushed in and heard his uneven breathing. Steve slid his hand away, closing the computer with the results he knew Tony wouldn't want Skye to find out like this.

"Tony look at me" she tried more commandingly, he finally looked at her and she smiled softly still holding his face.

"Match my breathing okay? Just like you did for me" he finally took a deep breath.

"Skye…" he started but Skye shook her head,

"Just keep matching me" she said gently looking over at Steve who was looking at her worried.

Tony looked at Skye, he saw how worried she was but kept having him match her breaths his panic was slowly fading. Once he got under control he pulled her in for a bone crushing hug. She just smiled into his shoulder and patted his back. Steve smiled at her,

"I'm sorry" Tony said releasing Skye but she just smiled softly at him,

"It's okay everyone gets panic attacks sometimes" she said honestly and he looked behind him to Steve and then to the computer which was closed he nodded his thanks.

"I did come up to make sure you ate your sandwich but it looks like you only took a couple bites was it that bad?" she walked over to the plate letting out a little laugh but Tony could barely keep his focus.

"No, oh course not just while I was eating I had the panic attack so haven't had a chance to finish." He admitted she looked him over.

"Are you better now?" she spoke softly and he nodded smiling.

"Yes, much better thank you for that Skye" she nodded at him and sat down at the little table looking around,

"This is pretty impressive I must say, as a hacker I would love to get my hands on this system" mischief twinkled in her eyes and Tony smiled at that,

"Well I could always use some help making sure the security in this place is top notch. That is if you are up for it" She beamed

"Of course I am, I would love to get to play around here with you! We can even see who is the fastest to make some updated codes" she started to walk around looking at all the stuff there. She noticed some glasses on a back table and held them up,

"Do you wear glasses?" she asked a little confused and Tony shook his head sadly

"Those are Bruce's, after Sokovia we haven't seen him, or heard from him. But I hope he comes back soon that way you two can meet"

"Bruce as in Bruce Banner the Hulk?" Skye's eyes went wide with excitement.

"One and only kid" Tony smirked at her. Skye looked around the desk and lab a little more before looking back at Tony who sat down and started to eat the rest of his sandwich. She noticed Steve hadn't moved from his spot either, but she didn't want to worry about it.

"So when do you want to start looking at those security programs Tony?" Skye sat across from him crossing her arms,

"We can start tomorrow. I am working on a project today so won't be able to, but we can start after your training with Natasha if you like" Tony finally finished his sandwich and Skye took the plate from him getting up out of her seat.

"Well then we will start tomorrow and I will let you get back to your project, see you at dinner? Or do you guys not eat together every night?" she asked since she didn't think they would have a family like dinner every night.

"No, we do eat together every night, well most of us if we aren't on a mission or if I am not too busy up here but I will be down there tonight, and tonight Nat and Clint are cooking" Skye smiled at the fact that they really were a little family.

"Perfect, I will see you boys then!" taking the plate she went back down to the kitchen. Once she was well out of range Steve looked at Tony,

"You okay now?" he asked quietly as if still trying not to make too much noise. Tony nodded

"I think so, just everything flooded in at once. I still can't believe it" Tony walked over to the computer flipping it back up looking at the results again. Steve studied him,

"Are you going to tell her?" Steve saw the worry cross his face.

"I want to, but is now really the right time? She just lost her family she is finally at peace I don't want to the be the reason she goes back down that path of destruction and I don't want to be the cause of that"

"What do you want to do then Tony? Are you going to inform Agent May? The longer you keep this secret the more you risk her finding out on her own" Steve cautioned. Tony nodded though knowing he couldn't keep this for long.

"I will talk to May, let her know what is going on and then see what she advises, as much as I don't like it they will know what is best when it comes to telling Skye." Steve only nodded,

"Do you want me to stay?" he knew Tony didn't need someone holding his hand but Steve thought it might be nice to not be alone through this as well. Tony nodded to him before picking up the tablet and called May.

"I hope you are calling to tell me why you wanted her blood finally" May answered, already looking pissed as hell.

"Is this not a good time Melinda?" Tony knew something was up,

"Not really a pain in the ass keeps popping up putting him down seems to be a little difficult at the moment" Steve and Tony shared a look.

"Anything we can help with Agent May?" Steve asked and May glared at him,

"We are handling it, now tell me Stark why did you call me" Tony knew she was in a mood.

"The reason I wanted Skye's blood is because I am her father, her real father May" May's arms slackened at her sides face shocked,

"That's impossible Tony, you would've had to be only about 18 or 19 when you fathered her. Cal is her father" May started rambling but Tony just shook his head sending her a file,

"It's true, I did the test. I knew Jaying and as soon as Skye told me about her mother I knew it was possible so that is why I wanted to check that is why I needed her blood to make sure. I will go into details later but for now." He took a deep breath,

"You know her best May, how do I tell her? How do I tell her that she is my daughter?" May thought about it for a second before looking back at him,

"You come clean, you sit her down preferably with a drink, and you come clean about how you are her father and make sure you bring the test results she might not believe you at first." He nodded knowing she was right,

"She doesn't like secrets and if she finds out on her own she won't forgive you or believe you were going to tell her, the sooner the better." May crossed her arms again,

"Worse case I will be there to pick up the pieces." May smirked a little at that though and Tony knew it wouldn't be pleasant.

"Tonight after dinner you should tell her, before Natasha challenges her to another game of shots." Steve told him and Tony smiled a little at that.

"Good idea Capsicle" May then shifted her focus to Steve, he swallowed.

"What exactly is your relationship with Skye, Captain" May asked face like stone,

"Just looking out for her ma'am" he said and Tony even smirked at him. Steve was standing straight up looking very uncomfortable.

"I will tell her tonight May, and I will let you know when it is done if she doesn't beat me to it." Tony looked hopeful though, maybe Skye wouldn't freak out, maybe she would be just as happy as he was.

His daughter, Skye, was the daughter he thought he lost. Time to make up for so many lost years.
