So those of you who don't follow me on FF Fate and Destiny are reoccurring background characters in my Potter verses, Destiny is mischievous and playful, while Fate is kind of a dick, and they end up getting strung along to play with various Potters by Death who is beyond bored with...everything so he makes his own entertainment.

After this prologue they will appear rarely, this is Harry and Taylor's show now.

As with most of my work, this was all written on a whim, so enjoy the mad ramblings of an insomniac.

Edit:Some shit went down over at spacebattles so I decided to publish this here by request, enjoy

There was a pressure at the back of my head, some empty platitudes were spoken, the click of a pistol's hammer being cocked echoing by my ear, and I didn't even feel the bullet when the long awaited bang ended everything.

All my trials, my tribulations, my sacrifices made to save a trillion Earths across ten-trillion universes that I owed nothing to, and my reward was two bullets to the back of the head.

Heh…After what I did? My greatest regret? I deserved it.

As reality faded away, I lost most of my coherence.

Though...it would seem I retained enough to observe things that I should not.

"Well…that was absolute rubbish," a masculine voice stated flatly from the ether surrounding me. Wait, surrounding me? I was dead wasn't I?

A feminine voice responded in kind, "May I remind you brother dear, that it was you who pathed out her Fate? Really most of the blame lies solely on you here, I tried to make her Destiny somewhat sane, with Sarah looking after her at the beginning and all. Then you had to fuck things up with that idiot Tagg and having that nutcase Amelia Jailbreak her powers."

There was silence for a time then eventually he spoke up, "Yeah…I really misjudged that one didn't I?"

"Everyone did," she stated dryly with a shrug, "Regardless this is a thing now. She killed a wannabe demi-god that would have destroyed most of the Earths across the multiverse and sacrificed her soul to pull it off. Girl personally feels like she deserves to go to hell but that is, honestly, rather melodramatic at best."

Her brother scoffed in amusement at that, "After all the shit we've pulled over eternity? Honestly, in comparison Khepri is a saint."

His sister sighed in annoyance, "Agreed, so thus the question still prevails, what do we do with her?"

Her brother remained silent for a time, and then eventually muttered out, "Well...we could always give her the classic soul cleansing hard reset?"

She huffed in annoyance at that, "That is such a copout and you know it."

"Also rather disingenuous really, she sacrificed everything to stop that over powered, simple minded Ship of Theseus… Just pretending it didn't happen doesn't sit well with me," her brother stated, nodding in agreement.

This actually garnered some interest from his sister who turned her burning silver eyes to meet his molten obsidian gaze, "Oh ho ho, brother dear have we gained a conscience sometime in the past few millennia?"

He remained silent for a time, then nodded slowly before letting out a tired sigh while smiling painfully, "Destiny, what we did to that girl was…" he…he couldn't quite find the words to convey his meaning, not that it mattered since his sister interrupted him regardless a moment later.

"Fate we fucked her entire existence because we followed the script. In turn she saved... Everyone, and it cost her everything. She doesn't deserve anything that's happened to her and it's entirely our fault. We were given few options to offer her and sure, none of them were...palatable, but out of all the shit choices offered to her..."

Fate scoffed at that and shook his head slowly, "Credit where credit is due, she always did the wrong thing for the right reasons… So…what do we do?"

Destiny hummed a moment then clicked her tongue while clapping quickly, "Ohohoh! We could send her to grow up as that Wizard Harry's friend! She could be a moderating force along with being some good fun down the road when his shenanigans really kick off, right?"

Fate stared at Destiny for a time before finally drawling out, "Taylor Hebert, and Harry Dresden, together without any sort of adult supervision? Sister dear do you really hate Chicago that much?"

Destiny blinked owlishly for a moment, then grinned while taking on a whimsical look, "Oh my, Dresden and Hebert in Chicago at the same time…that is so de-"

"NO!"

Her brother yelled out and looked genuinely panicked as he did so, "No, just no…."

Destiny pouted a moment then shrugged, "Alas, a missed opportunity, perhaps next time. Regardless I was talking about the other wizard Harry, the one going to Hogwarts in Scotland. We'll keep her full knowledge locked up 'till she receives her first acceptance letter of course, but allow her to keep her current attitude and some hints of her past here and there, to spice things up and all. What do you say brother dear?"

Fate paused, and then smiled, "Oh! I do believe that will be an absolutely delightful bit of sport sister dear."

Destiny let out a resigned sigh as she muttered, "And there is the Fate I know and tolerate, regardless, let the show begin."

Even as fuzzy as things were, I couldn't help cringing.

Harry had run out of places to hide, Dudley and his gang had cornered him, and the terrified eight year old didn't know what to do. If he fought back he'd be beaten into the ground and would get the same when he got 'home' from his uncle. If he just stood there and took it, he'd get beaten into the ground and get the same from his uncle. If he ran, again he'd just be beaten into the ground more tired than normal.

It had to be a Tuesday, even this young in life Harry had seriously learned to hate Tuesdays.

Dudley pushed Harry to the ground, Piers and the others sneering at him as the pig in a wig smirked down at his scrawny cousin, "Scared Potter?"

Well…yes, pain was scary after all, though he didn't dare say as much.

Dudley had apparently gotten rather bored with the fact that Harry hadn't responded outside of glaring up at him over the rims of his taped glasses, and had decided to lean down and punch him, which wasn't surprising in the slightest really.

Except rather then feeling his nose being broken, again, Harry watched in shock as Dudley fell to the ground mid swing, and a tall, willowy girl with long black hair holding a rather large stick in her hands stood above him while shooting Harry a wan smile.

She waved awkwardly while quickly saying, "Umm..hello! Err…I'm Taylor and I really don't like bullies so I decided to help! Err...I really hope that piggy there wasn't one of your friends… Like seriously? This wasn't a boy game right? I'm going to feel really really bad if I just gave some brat brain damage because I didn't stop to ask questions…again…."

Harry stared at her for a few moments, and then broke out laughing as he accepted her extended hand and allowed himself to be pulled up off the ground.

Noting that the other boys had run off leaving their brained leader on the ground groaning, Harry shook his head and turned back to the taller child giving her a weak smile, "He's...he's my cousin...and he isn't my friend. I don't have any friends actually, he makes sure of that..."

Dropping the stick she muttered, "Oh," then remained silent for a time before asking, "Well...what's your name?"

Glancing down at Dudley groggily rolling around on the ground he met the girls dark green gaze and offered his hand like he'd seen adults do in the past, "I'm Harry, Harry Potter."

The girl took his hand and shook it, and for some reason her smile seemed so...sad.

"I'm Taylor Hebert, and I don't have any friends either. Do...do you want to be mine?"

Taking one last look at Dudley, Harry took in a deep breath and smiled, "Yeah, lets be friends."
