On the nineteenth of September, a little girl is brought into the world. Her pale skin and dark hair is cloaked in a blanket of the finest of silks; her maiden eyes are shielded by gentle hands from the unforgiving world around her. She is brought to a striking home with closed shutters and a well-used fireplace. She learns how to walk and how to listen. She learns that she has influence and can get what she wants if she asks smartly enough. Life adjusts around her.

On the twenty-fourth of July, a little girl is brought back into her world by a cream letter with glimmering red ink. Her open mind brings her possibilities while her brown hair hides her face. She moves into a castle with sweeping staircases and hidden rooms holding secrets waiting to be discovered. She doesn't yet know what she will learn but, whatever it is, she is determined to learn as much of it as she can. No one could have predicted how she would shape the fate of the world around her and the lives of those living within it.

It's me again! Four years after I first started "Heiress of the Dark" and many months after I promised to revise and continue it, I've decided to fully rewrite it under the name "Caesar". The name may seem slightly revealing, but I promise it's not going to be predictable (and nothing could be more obvious than the previous title!). By renaming this old fan fiction, I'm trying to give it a new life, one that I hope is more interesting to you and me. While I am social distancing and therefore have more time than usual, I still have plenty of personal obligations and will not be able to update or be active of ffn (or AO3) frequently. I do have each chapter mapped out, but to my frustration I am not someone who can have everything written in advanced and then just publish it at set intervals. While I wish I could promise you timespans for when each chapter will come out, my schedule has been fluctuating too much to be able to predict that.

My plan is for this story to have seven lengthy chapters, plus this very tiny summary/prologue, and a decent epilogue. The main seven chapters will be covering a span of around ten years, and while they will vary in length, their word counts will hopefully properly correspond with the time such a long hiatus, I am not sure how much this website has changed. I have recently found myself on AO3 often, and while I will update this story here on ffn, it will also be posted there for the first time. If anyone who read this years ago is still keeping up/planning to keep up with Heiress/Caesar, I am so touched by your ongoing support, and I will do my best to write this as best as possible. For new readers, I'm quite glad you will not have to read my terrible writing from years ago! I have taken down the old chapters online, however, if anyone is truly desperate to see them again, although I can't imagine why haha, please dm me (I can't promise that I will respond quickly) and I will share a google doc of all of the old chapters with you.
