Evelyn Westwood is a normal 15 year old girl, as far as normal goes in Earth Bet. She has powers, fights crime, and avoids thinking about her traumatic past. She reads books to escape, and to give her ideas for her powers. When a man from Brockton Bay adopts her, bringing her into that cesspit, how will she survive? Will she drown, or will she be able to burn a beacon of heroism?

On her sixteenth birthday, Taylor doesn't trigger. Instead, she is offered a simple transaction: she'll get the power to achieve her ambitions - to rival any parahuman - if she takes on a curse. Now her dreams take her to a dreary pre-industrial world where vampires, werewolves, and the living dead stalk the land. The question is: is it any worse than Brockton Bay?

Taylor has a bad day that ends in a locker. Everyone has heard that one. It goes somewhat differently after that, as her call for help is answered by something from a lot further away than one might expect... A story in which Taylor makes a very large friend, the world gets confused, and Danny comes into his own.

This is a fic that answers an idle question I asked myself yesterday: "What if a snake was the hero of a Worm fanfic?" Snek is the familiar of a powerful wizard. He's about as smart as a young child, and can create personal portals to go wherever he wants. He's also a sixty-foot boa constrictor.

Taylor died in the locker and was buried. It's a real shame she didn't stay in her grave. A shame for the city that is. Lisa on the other hand is certainly happy to have stumbled across a vampire bodyguard. A bodyguard who needs a friend and protector just as badly as Lisa herself does.
