Prologue

One single ripple is all it takes to change the eddies of Fate. It started out simply enough with Poseidon breaking his vow on the River Styx with the mortal Sally Jackson four years earlier than in most timelines, siring a daughter named Callidora Atalanta Jackson. Not long after Poseidon broke his vow a young couple on their honeymoon in Las Vegas is convinced into a threesome with the Greek God of War Ares, resulting in their son, Jaden Yuki, having two fathers and one mother. The first major ripple occured when one Jaden Yuki and his family were on vacation in Disney World Florida. Ares approached the small family and explained exactly whom he happened to be, and what that meant for Jaden. He asked that Jaden be trained in how to defend himself physically though he accepted that Jaden's preferred form of fighting was through Duel Monsters, even he had to respect a game with such a dangerous, deadly, and bloody history. The next major ripple was when Jaden burned his Yubel and Yubel-Terror Incarnate cards as an offering for his father after dueling with Yubel once and his opponent ended up in a coma.

The next change came in the form of cousins Sally didn't even know she had in the form of Seto Kaiba and his younger brother Mokuba discovering their connection. This in turn causes one Gabriel Ugliano to be arrested for spousal and child abuse when the brothers head over to Manhattan to meet Sally and her daughter. Seto was quick to get Sally's marriage annulled, and start arranging to move his cousin and first cousin once removed over to Japan. Neither brother understood why their cousin insisted on travelling by boat, but it would make it easier to relocate their things as well. Getting them both dual American/Japanese citizenship was rather easy as well thanks to Seto's team of lawyers. As long as whatever they did never came back to bite him on the ass, he did not care. Sally was able to go back to school once she and Callidora learned Japanese, and Callidora was enrolled in public school as well upon gaining fluency in Japanese for a child her age.

To help Callidora learn Japanese faster Seto taught her how to play Duel Monsters, and noticed Callidora happened to have an affinity for Water Attributed monsters. He helped her assemble a deck that suited her just before she was to start attending school. Callidora couldn't help but be nervous on her first day at her new school, although this time she was in a new school because she and her mother moved to a new country. She was just grateful she no longer had to put up with Smelly Gabe, her former step-father. It's after she is introduced to her new classmates, and asked to sit next to one Yuki Jaden that another major ripple in the eddies of Fate occurs, granting Callidora her first true friend, and a lifelong one at that. Once Callidora was settled in to her new routine Seto ensures that she learns how to defend herself, this includes martial arts, parkour, and learning how to use weapons like sais, daggers, and wooden staffs.

Chapter 1

A fifteen year old girl with sea green eyes and her mid back length black hair in a braid, wearing a red sailor top, with a black bow and black sailor collar with two red stripes, a black skirt with a red stripe along the bottom of it, red shorts on underneath the skirt, and red cross strap mary janes by the name of Callidora Jackson, preferring to be called Callie, makes her way at a jog to the home of her closest friend Jaden Yuki. Today was the day for the Duel Academy Entrance Exams, which was why she had gotten up extra early so she could get Jaden up too. Once inside the Yuki home she sends Eria the Water Charmer up to wake Jaden while she makes him a quick and easily digestible breakfast. She cackles at the sound of him swearing, even as she hears him start racing around to get ready. She calls up the stairs in Greek, as her mother had confessed to her being a demigoddess a year after they started living with Seto and Mokuba, " Θυμηθείτε να πάρετε το δίσκο μονομαχίας σας και το κατάστρωμα!(Remember to grab your duel disk and deck)! "

" I know, Cals. " Jaden calls from the top of the stairs in his own school uniform, his deck in the deck case by his right hip, and his duel disk in hand.

" Get down here and eat breakfast so we can get to the Entrance Exam. " Callie ripostes.

" Coming, though did you have to send Eria to wake me up? "

Callie gives him a flat stare, causing Jaden to wince, understanding the meaning behind her look, " Point made, Cals. I know I'm a heavy sleeper. "

Jaden eats quickly and they head out the door at a fast walk. They were making their way through a park when Jaden bumps into someone easily recognizable by both teens, though only Callie had met him, " Sorry about that. " Jaden says before he looks up and sees whom he ran into. His brown eyes widen comically, and Callie can't resist taking a picture of the look on his face.

" It's no problem. Off to take the entrance exam? "

" Uh, yeah. " Jaden says.

Callie watches as The Yugi Motou, King of Games reaches into his deck box, " Here, take this, something tells me this belongs with you. "

A dumbfounded Jaden accepts the card, which is Winged Kuriboh, and Callie sighs, " I think you broke him, Yugi. "

" Grandpa will send your order to you at Duel Academy when it comes in, Callie. May the Heart of the Cards guide you. "

" Thanks, later, Yugi. " Callie says, and drags a still semi-catatonic Jaden off with her.

" May Ra protect you both, Callie. " Yugi calls after them.

" Ξύπνα!(Wake up)! " Callie snaps just loud enough for Jaden to hear her.

Jaden shakes his head as he comes out of his stupor and adds Winged Kuriboh into his deck, " I can't believe I met The King of Games. "

" Right now you need to get your Game On, Jay. Duel Academy won't be any fun without you. "

Jaden smirks as they reach the registration area, " Yuki Jaden. "

" Jackson Callidora. " Callie adds. The pair sign in and head inside to wait for their turns to duel. Jaden settles in beside a light blue haired male to watch Callie duel.

" Hey there, I'm Yuki Jaden. "

" Truesdale Syrus. "

Jaden's brown eyes are zeroed in on duel field two where Callie was having her test duel, and Syrus blinks, " Do you know Callidora, Jaden? "

" Yeah, and I can't wait to see her get her Game On. " Jaden says.

Jaden takes the time to explain Callie's moves to Syrus as she's making them, having the utmost confidence in her ability to win. He smirks when the proctor's life points reach zero after Callie summons Poseidon The Kraken, " I knew she'd win. "

" Where did she get Poseidon The Kraken, I've never heard of that card. " Syrus asks.

" She won a card design contest two years ago. Poseidon is at the same level as Slifer, Ra, and Obelisk. The only reason she was able to summon him without any sacrifices this time was because she discarded him earlier and used Monster Reborn to bring him out of the graveyard, though that only lasts for one turn, so she had to make that turn count. You see Poseidon gains one thousand attack points per one hundred lost from Cals life points, through enemy action, like how Slifer gains a thousand per card in the controller's hand. I'm the one she retuned her deck against. " Jaden explains, " Oh, only I can get away with calling her Cals as well, fair warning. "

He turns his attention to another duel that was just ending as Callie makes her way over to the stands. Callie settles in beside him, " Jay, who's your new friend? "

" You really think we're friends? " the light blue haired male asks her.

Jaden and Callie share a look, they'd have to work on the guy's self-esteem once they got to Duel Academy, " Jaden needs some guy friends. "

" Cals, this is Truesdale Syrus, Sy, Jackson Callie. Why did you drag the duel out, Cals? "

" Proctor was a misogynistic asshole. " Callie deadpans.

Jaden's eyes flash gold for a second, " Then he got what he deserved. Just what did he say to piss you off that much though? "

Callie's sea green eyes look tumultuous, " Sweetie, I'll make sure to comfort you when you lose. "

Jaden's right hand clenched into a fist, " Please tell me that you have evidence of that. "

Callie's answering smirk was all too smug, " Already sent the video with audio to my cousin. "

" Nice, there's more than one way to win a battle after all. Do you have everything packed up, Cals? "

" Mom's packing up for me so I can help you get everything together. I gave her a list of everything I wanted to take along, which includes my practice weapons. " Callie answers.

Jaden smiles widely at this, " Nice, we can still get our training in. "

The conversation is cut off when the duelist whose duel they had been watching wins, and makes his way over, " Sick duel, Bastion. You just might be the number two male duelist around here, " Jaden's interrupted by his name being called.

" If I'm the number two male duelist, then who's number one? " Bastion asks him.

Jaden smirks, " Why that would be me. It's what I'm best at. "

Callie smiles as she watches him make his way to the field he had been called to, " Uh-oh, this could get nasty. That's Dr. Crowler, the teacher of dueling techniques at Duel Academy. " Bastion says, " I hope your friend is as good as he thinks he is. "

Callie rolls her eyes at this, but her amusement was plain to see, " Callidora, why are you slumming with these rejects? "

The ravenette swears under her breath in Greek at the sound of this voice, " I happen to prefer sincerity over arrogance, Princeton. " Callie says. She grabs her phone and sends her cousin a single text telling him he was a dead man walking for introducing her to Chazz Princeton.

In his office at Kaiba Corp Seto shudders, and then his phone vibrates, and he reads the text he'd just been sent. He winces once he's read the text, and places a call to Chancellor Sheppard. He'd already seen the video she'd sent him, and had taken the appropriate steps to deal with that moron. Callie really would kill him if she ended up in the Obelisk Dorm as she really couldn't stand rich, snobby, pretentious assholes, and vain, vapid, ditzy, trampy drama queens. Though he also tells Sheppard to ensure that the girls had the option to wear pants if they wanted to. He did not want to receive an irate video call from Callie when she realized she would have to wear a mini skirt.

Back at the Kaiba Dome Jaden has just played Winged Kuriboh, and placed Hero Signal face down. He was really getting irritated at how this teacher kept looking down on him, though it was seeing the dark haired male in an Obelisk Blazer invading Callie's personal space that really had him out of sorts. From her body language he just knew she was less than thrilled with the arrangement. He smirks when Crowler attacks Winged Kuriboh, giving the little guy a silent apology before he speaks up, " Nice, on the turn Winged Kuriboh is destroyed I receive no battle damage, and you also triggered my trap, Hero Signal. Time to bring out my second hero, Burstinatrix. "

Jaden smirks at the look on the teacher's face while Callie whoops, " Way to play, Jay. Now, end this. "

" I intend to once my opponent ends his turn. " Jaden calls back.

" Very well, I end my turn. " Crowler says.

" I draw, and now I play the card The Warrior Returning Alive which allows me to bring Avian from my grave and into my hand. Now, I summon Avian, but that's not all. I also use Polymerization to fuse Avian and Burstinatrix together to form Elemental Hero FlameWingman. " Jaden pauses here for dramatic effect, a dark smirk on his face.

Callie cackles, " Jay's got this duel wrapped up. "

" I don't see how. " Bastion states, " Yes, FlameWingman's effect is advantageous what with taking the destroyed monster's attack points out of the opponent's life points, but FlameWingman is too weak to do anything. "

Callie just smiles darkly, " Jay still has a card to play, and that card makes all the difference. "

" Please, there is no way that slacker can actually win. " the male only known as Princeton to Bastion and Syrus states, though it came out louder than he meant it to.

Jaden looks at him, " Next I play the Field Spell, Skyscraper. With this card in effect my heroes gain a thousand points should the monster they're attacking be more powerful. "

Bastion's eyes light up in comprehension, " I stand corrected, Miss Jackson. A duel is never over until the final card is played. Your friend has in fact won this duel. "

" FlameWingman, attack with Skydive Scorcher! " Jaden calls out, and Crowler takes a hundred point hit. " Don't think FlameWingman's done, teach. Next his super power kicks in, and your monster's attack points come right out of your life points. "

Dr. Crowler's life point gauge goes down to zero and Jaden rolls his shoulders, " That's game. "

Since Jaden's duel was the last one Callie makes her way down to the field to get away from Chazz whom was stunned speechless that Crowler had lost. Bastion and Syrus follow after her, and once close enough Bastion speaks up, " I must say, Jaden, that was masterfully well done. Not many can say they have beaten a teacher's personal deck. "

Callie just hugs him, and Syrus gives him a beaming smile, " Why don't we all get some ice cream, and get to know each other better? " Jaden suggests.

" I have some free time as I'm already packed up for Duel Academy save for the last minute things. " Bastion says.

" I got my things packed up too, and since my big brother went to Duel Academy already my mom knows what I need. " Syrus says.

" You know I'm free since I'm going to be helping you pack up. " Callie says.

The group of four set out and head to a nearby ice cream shop. Jaden gets a rocky road cone, Bastion gets a hot fudge sundae, Syrus chooses neapolitan for his cone, and Callie gets chocolate with blue sprinkles. The four fill the time by getting to know each other as Jaden had suggested. They also exchanged contact information, and a promise to help each other at Duel Academy regardless of rankings. Bastion agreed to help them with their math related subjects, Jaden and Callie would help with physical fitness, and Syrus says he can help quiz them all out loud since they would still have the normal classes too. " I have to say I am very much looking forward to attending Duel Academy with all of you. " Bastion says as he makes his way home.

" See you on the boat over, Bastion. " Jaden says as Syrus packs his things up too, and says his goodbyes as well.

Once on their own Jaden looks at Callie, " Who's the Obelisk I need to teach the meaning of personal space to? "

" Chazz Princeton. Feel free to school him, but he'll be ready for you to use fusion monsters. "

Jaden's eyes narrow, he'd have to do some thinking, " We have time to check out a few card shops, right? "

" We should, as long as you don't take too long, Jay. " Callie responds, " Why? "

" I can't let myself get predictable, now can I, Cals? " Jaden asks her innocently.

Callie grins, and skips on ahead of Jaden. The brown haired and brown eyed teen's eyes zero in on her hips, and then down to her calves before he shakes his head and follows after her. He made sure that his purchases also included cards he didn't mind sacrificing to his father. Jaden knew one thing for sure, he was seriously looking forward to attending Duel Academy.
