A/N: This story has come so far, and I want to thank everyone for all the love. The reviews make my day. Thank you so much, everyone!
Disclaimer: Harry Potter isn't my own creation, although it would be great.
Black Manor
August 2nd 1991
Amy sat in her room, stroking Kuro's dark fur gently while her wand was pointed at her grandmother's journal, casting verification spells and curse checks.
It was all clear, so Amy went ahead and scrolled through the pages, only the first and last were filled and to the rim with elegant calligraphy. What was weird was that none of the pages actually had dates on them but, they all had the same name, Amethyst Potter.
Dear Amethyst,
I understand that all of this is confusing for you, and I sympathize. I am a seer. Before you were born, I saw your future. I can't tell you everything I see, for Magic demands secrecy for my powers. I had to Obliviate my own family and stay in the dark for many years. I left you all of my possessions to help you on the Rocky road which is your life.
There are several Prophecies about you which you will hear on the right time. Meddling with fate has always resulted in catastrophes. I am bending several rules writing this, but, I have to do this for you.
Euphemia Potter
Dear Amethyst,
I want you to remember a few things. You are never alone, your family will stand by you. Surprising allies long forgotten will stand by your side, and you will do best to remember it. When the time will come my old friend will show her face until which she will help you from the shadows.
I can't tell you much but as time will go on the pages will fill by themselves. Please don't tell anyone else about this journal, and if you do reveal it by mistake, you will be obliviated and lose an advantage.
Euphemia Potter
Amy had mixed feelings about the diary, but she didn't want to be obliviated so, she followed her Grandma's instructions until she came up with a plan.
In the meantime, she decided to pack her school trunk, some might say it was too early, but she knew that she was better off prepared. She opened her trunk and used the ladder to step inside. Her grandma had a few things which she took out.
Amy didn't want the house elves to help her and decided to tackle the mess herself for the practice in cleaning charms.
Now she wished she hadn't.
It seemed that the trunk hadn't been cleaned since Euphemia's own time at school. She started a bubble-head charm, which soon proved to wise decision.
A Ventus had all the dust off to one side, which she vanished with a wave off her wand. Terego had the floors all bubbly, which she used her sponge to clean. The floors were all shiny and spotless. The furniture was new with an overpowered Reparo.
A few hours of hard work later, her trunk home was new and cozy. The walls were gray, so light that it was practically white.
The ladder led down to a small Black armchair and her library. She chose all the books that would help her with her school year. One whole wall was full of books, although that wasn't alot considering how short the walls were. They were too tall for her, but probably just a few inches taller than Sirius.
There was a peach shaggy rug under her small desk and chair which was filled with lots of ink, parchment and quills. Her walls were full of small photos of her and her family.
The kitchenette had all sorts of different foods and utensils under her strongest preservation charms, and the quantity was enough to last her a whole year. The sink was clean again and working, although Amy did need some help from Raya.
The washroom needed ALOT of help, but with the help of Lucien, Raya, Thibault and Kreacher she was done. It had a small shower, toilet and sink.
She was exhausted and came out the trunk and locked it and promptly collapsed on her bed and took a well-earned nap.
August 31st
"No, Auntie Molly. Please, I am so full! No more." She pleaded to no effect.
"Nonsense, you are so short for your age and your bones are showing, Amy. Just one more scoop." Molly said in her you-will-listen-tone.
She sighed dramatically but finished her food. Ginny joined her and Ron came at last. She and Ron had made some progress in the last month, but calling them friends would be a stretch. Though they didn't antagonize each other as often as before.
Amy saw George waving at her frantically, clearly trying to get her attention. She mouthed what and he just mouthed "come" so she excused herself from Ginny, Ron and Harry.
She had learned the trick since she was six to tell them apart. George had burned a part of his hair and it still looked rough even after all these years.
When she came in an arm's reach, they both took one of her arms and practically lifted her to the broom shed.
"Woah, calm down, both of you!" She said, digging her heels to stop them.
"We can't-"
"We need you away from-"
"The adults!" They finished together.
"Why is my question. Do you need something that's not related to pranking someone or creating trouble?" She finished calmly. Containing frustration would be so much easier if they actually told her what they wanted.
She exhaled dramatically. "Anytime now." She said, her eyes widening to emphasize her words.
"Fred, you take over," Fred said dramatically.
"We are testing products for our joke shop, but all that work left us with no time to pull elaborate pranks last year. This is highly hazardous for Hogwarts and the students but, we can't choose between pranks and our joke shop, so here is our offer. We would like to make you our successor."
She stared at them, raised her eyebrows as if waiting for them to tell her this was a joke, but they never did. She stared at them in shock.
"Woah, woah, woah! That was for real?!" She asked incredulously.
"Yeah," Fred replied, deflated. She softened, they probably planned this meeting a dozen times before executing it.
She sighed, this would be hard, but she had an idea. She really wasn't going to prank people- not that she would have enough time with all the things she had gotten herself into- but they were her brothers as much as Harry and she wouldn't reject them completely, so she had an idea. She crossed her fingers that this would work.
"Guys, I am a stickler for rules and I don't want to prank random people, even Slytherins," she added, knowing they would try to get her to compromise. "But I know that your pranks are harmless and they are safe, so I have a compromise."
They nodded eagerly, set on recruiting her, whatever it took. "Look, I am not going to outright prank people, but I can still be useful. Together we would be four people, counting Lee Jordan so, two of you three can prank people and the other one would help me research. I would help find research spells and brew potions for your pranks and products and one of you guys would help me and we keep taking turns switching. I am a good researcher, so it would be perfect for me and that way I could find safe pranks that would have the same outcome."
She waited for their reaction. Their faces were completely blank.
"We agree," they chimed together. She smiled mischievously, it seemed Sirius would finally get what he'd been trying to raise for the last 10 years.
"We will need communication, I have it all set. Communication mirrors are very rare and expensive, but Sirius has one which I could use as a reference to copy the runes and spells off of. We can start at Hogwarts, I'll make a schedule for when we are all free, between your Quidditch practices and my classes we will need a place and a schedule to meet."
"Why don't we just meet in the Common room?" George asked.
"We can't because we are not certain which house I would be in," she saw them protesting so she put up a hand and continued, "I might not be in Gryffindor, so please don't say that. Now, I think that we should go back to the Burrow now."
They all nodded and made their way back to the Burrow in silence.
It seemed something went wrong, so between Percy and Ron's fight they got to their rooms unnoticed. Gratefully, Amy went up to her room where Ginny was already snoring and slept with her Padfoot.
September 1st 1991
King's cross
Platform 9 3/4
The Burrow was in a havoc. Last minute packing, Goodbyes and tears were all being shed at once. In the end, the group of eight made their way into the battered but functional Ford Anglia.
Sirius, James and Lily met them at Platform 9 3/4 where they still had plenty of time before boarding. Sirius brought and a Wizarding Camera to take photos of Ron, Amy and Harry.
Sirius looked like he was going to cry with all the emotions. Her hair turned into an obnoxious peach/orange color which had everyone looking at her, which she ignored. "Come on Sirius, come in, give me a good bear hug." She said, not caring how embarrassing it would be for her.
"I can't believe you're so grown up now, it was just yesterday when you said Pa-foo to me." Sirius said snottily looking at James who was annoyed that Sirius brought it up again.
"Stop it!" Lily said, giving them the look that nobody dared to disobey.
They took photos and it was getting closer to the time she'd have to leave. All the adults were crying, as was Ginny.
"Goodbye Ginny," Amy sniffed dramatically.
"I'll miss you, Amy! Say you'll remember me even if you get new friends!" Ginny cried through tears. They said bye a total of 10 times and kept going back to hug each other before Harry and Ron had to literally tear the two apart and drag Amy to a compartment.
She looked at the two angrily and added a glare for good measure. She crossed her arms and pouted on her seat. The two boys just looked at her with amusement, "You'd think that Amy was going to die with the way Ginny was sobbing," Ron said finally before the two dissolved in laughter.
"How dare you," Amy responded, her fists clenched with anger and her hair redder than a Weasley's. "You two are best friends and get to share a dorm and go to Hogwarts à la meme fois! Ginny is now lonely with no one but Garden gnomes to talk to."
"Woah, woah, woah! Amy, calm down and quit the French. Honestly, it was just a joke, right, Ron?" Harry asked, poking him. "Yes, Amy, it was just a joke," Ron added, moving away from where Amy was fuming.
She tossed her now violet hair back and haughtily picked up her school robes and left the compartment to change.
She came out dressed, and her long wavy hair was in a braid. While she was heading back to her compartment, she bumped into a girl with bushy brown hair and they both fell down. She assumed the girl was a first year because her tie was blank like Amy's. Amy gave her a hand and helped her up.
"Hi, I'm Amethyst Potter, though I prefer Amy. I am so sorry I wasn't paying attention, would you care to join me in my compartment?" Amy said awkwardly, her hair turning into a pink color.
The girl smiled back but, her eyes were looking at her hair filled with curiosity. Amy supposed that the girl was a Muggle-born and therefore wasn't familiar with a Metamorphagus.
When they came into the compartment, Harry was eating from a pile of candy and listening to Ron talk with his mouth full. She wrinkled her nose and spelled all the Candy to one side and made space for her and the other girl to sit down.
Harry and Ron blushed, sitting up straight when they saw the other girl. The girl introduced herself, "Hello, I am Hermione Granger, I met Amy outside the compartment."
"Hermione, this is my brother Harry Potter and the one with atrocious manners is Ronald Weasley," Amy said jokingly. Ron glared in response, but didn't say anything else and opted for staring at Harry.
Hermione was shook, she didn't know what to say. The savior of the Wizarding World was sitting in front of her. "Y-you're Harry Potter?! Like the Harry Potter! I've read all about you in the Rise and Fall of the Dark arts."
"Yup, that's me," Harry said weakly, while Amy suppressed a snicker at his discomfort.
The four talked for a while before the girls started discussing school, Metamorphagery and the Wizarding World in general and the boys talked about Quidditch. Time passed relatively quickly before the boys left to change.
When Amy stepped out of the compartment, she saw a familiar flash of platinum blonde and followed it.
"Hello Draco!" Amy said cheerfully, only for him to flinch. He took her arm tightly and pulled her against the wall in the corner. He covered her mouth with his spare hand so she'd stop talking. Her eyes bulged but he loomed over her and kept looking back to see if someone might attack him.
"Don't! Please don't try to talk to me or say my name at Hogwarts," he whispered frantically. His gray eyes looked sick with fear.
"Calm down Draco! I just wanted to say sorry for Ron at Diagon Alley, he's just reall-" She stopped talking when he covered her mouth again with his hand.
"Yes, yes, I forgive everyone, just please don't try and talk to me or help me." With those words Draco disappeared leaving a worried and disappointed Amy behind.
Draco walked back to the compartment, where Crabbe and Goyle were waiting for him. Crabbe grabbed one of his skinny wrists with his meaty one, and Goyle closed the compartment door.
"What took you so long, Malfoy? Trying to snitch on your faithful bodyguards?" Crabbe drawled, his grip getting so tight that Draco winced.
Draco had initially thought that Hogwarts would be his sanctuary, but a week before his departure, Lucius Malfoy had introduced him to Vincent Crabbe and Gregory Goyle. They would be Lucius' spies and make sure that Draco wouldn't be able to tell anybody about his home life, and they would scare away any friends that he'd try to make.
They would send letters every week about Draco's life, and he'd never be able to make friends. It was a plan that was likely to work. He'd thought that maybe if he wasn't in Slytherin, then they wouldn't be able to spy on him, but that thought died when he remembered that he was to go home for the summer. His father would likely keep him chained in the dungeon if he wasn't in Slytherin. If he made any friends, Lucius would likely kill them, as he couldn't kill Draco.
"I'm s-sorry, the halls were packed and s-so it took me longer to get back from the restroom." The two nodded and he sat down beside Goyle staring out of the window hoping that someone would notice something and help him.
The train stopped and all the firsties stepped onto the platform at once. Amy rolled her eyes at those who were commenting on how scared they were of Hagrid. Amy ran and hugged him as best as she could.
"Hello Amy! Didn't quite see you there!" Hagrid greeted cheerfully. He also greeted Harry and Ron, and Amy introduced Hermione.
The firsties all sat in boats and Amy, Harry, Ron and Hermione sat together. As they passed the lake, Amy felt the tingle of the Founders' magic on her skin. She smiled sadly. They were all lead into the great hall and Amy saw Draco between two large boys whom she recognized as Crabbe and Goyle.
The Sorting hat was singing, but Amy paid it no mind, instead making her to-do list in her mind. She didn't see Helena in the Great Hall, so she'd have to go up to the Ravenclaw common room sometime in the week unless she was sorted also needed to make a trip to the dungeons and check out Sal's quarters, find a place for the twins and Lee to meet secretly, make complex runic communication mirrors, and checkout the library.
"Slytherin!" the sorting hat proclaimed and Amy looked up to see Draco walk there sadly, their eyes met but he looked away quickly.
Padma went to Ravenclaw and she applauded for her, followed by Parvati going to Gryffindor.
"Amethyst Potter!" Professor McGonagall called out. Her eyes meeting with all the teachers. All hopeful eyes of the older students were on her. Marcus and Oliver were glaring at each other and the Cedric was looking at her hopefully and the other students were also looking at her to find out why the senior students were looking at her. Her cheeks were burning under the intense scrutiny. She gingerly walked to the stool and felt the hat drop on her head.
"Interesting, very interesting."
A/N: Sorry for not posting last week, but I was not feeling too good, and my mum refused to let me near my laptop. I hope you like my amateur cliffie but you prolly know what house she will be in if you've read all the chapters.
