Fate X DanMachi
Chapter 1: A Strange Beginning
The Second Magic, arguably Kischur Zelretch Schweinorg's greatest achievement next to defeating or rather, drawing the battle with Brunestud of the Crimson Moon dealt with the subject of parallel worlds, atleast that is what everyone speculated it to be. Parallel Worlds were those deemed to be similar to each other but with differences small or large in nature between them, yet not so different so as to be completely unrecognizable to a denizen from one Universe to another. Indeed, the Zelretches themselves divided a large section of the Standard Worlds into two categories : Fate Worlds, and Tsukihime Worlds, with the difference being that within Fate worlds, the Affirmation of Human History was rooted into them, and Heroic Spirits can be summoned as Servants, whereas the group called the Dead Apostle Ancestors took centrestage in the latter.
Zelretches I say, but indeed there were only two of them. One who had achieved Immortality via unspecified means, and one who had become a Dead Apostle Ancestor, who had long since composited themselves of the similar Zelretches of all the respective World sections via the True Second Magic.
But the owners of the Magic themselves knew that there were other worlds accessible by the Kaleidoscope, which were not even remotely similar to the so-called 'Standard Worlds', and in their Alienness, they were unimaginatively named, "Alien Worlds", by the Wizard Marshals. These Alien Worlds did not proscribe to the concepts laid out by either subset of Standard Worlds, and were indeed, wholly foreign to the concept of either DAA's or Servants.
But a curious state of events, involving a Singularity, a pair of bungling Foreigner Servants, an ancient Tree-Spirit, a Forgotten Legion of Romans, and Chaldean Interference resulted in one particular object, known to all in the Standard Worlds as a Holy Grail, to be ejected altogether out of the Standard Worlds, into a foreign realm.
Indeed, this foreign Realm was in a state the Grail could only equate to be in a curious version of the Age of Gods, and the Grail, which had eventually developed Sentience after the spectacular failings of a dozen Grail Wars in its particular origin world, decided that it deserved a vacation in this Alien World, this world of Familias so to speak, and decided to interfere in what was to happen in the normal future, creating a Branching timeline. It was not malicious, nor was it deranged, it merely believed it deserved entertainment, and so it reached into the Throne of Heroes, which existed outside all Worlds themselves, and fell quietly into the Dungeon below Orario, waiting for someone to stumble upon it. And the Wizard Marshalls? Well they saw no reason to intervene either, and decided to see if any entertainment could be had for themselves as well.
====================XeX====================
This particular world mind you, was home to one particularly intriguing city, the City of Orario, also known as Labyrinth City Orario, and the City of Adventurers, along with less flattering names as City of Slaves by those who utterly hated being under the yoke of the Divine, even willingly. Those of a non-divine nature, i.e mortals, of all shapes and sizes travelled to the city in pursuit of wealth, fame, glory, and sometimes even a sense of duty, for below the city lay the gaping abyss that was the Dungeon, the mother of all monsters that threatened their lives once.
Once, I say, not because the Dungeon had keeled over and died, but because Deities, who usually resided in a plane of existence called "Tenkai" decided to arrive at the plane of existence where the Dungeon existed, called "Genkai", and partially seal the dungeon with the Tower of Babel, while forging contracts, so to speak, with the mortal races, via blessing them with a strange type of magic whose progenitor was the Nameless Creator God, a deity above deities.
This blessing was known to be the Falna, a mark on the very soul of an adventurer which allowed them to gain excelia, an ingrained currency they traded for improved physical, and magical capabilities subconsciously. And this currency was so-to-speak, transacted upon the Falna, allowing the Gods to follow upon their favoured mortals with ease rather than listen to long-winded accounts of their adventurers.
Currently within the Dungeon, there was an adventurer who had as younger boy, been under the care, albeit unknowingly, of what was once a very powerful God, but now forced to work in the Dungeon due to various reasons, including the faked death of the God.
Indeed, today, the young man had chosen to venture deeper into the Mother of all Monsters than he usually would, but still paid attention to his surroundings keenly for he knew his abilities were certainly not as high as he would like so as to feel secure in the same.
Why you may ask, he was crawling deeper if he was not confident in his abilities? Well he was merely bored of fighting Kobolds and Goblins that called the first four floors home. Indeed he could be considered a minor prodigy, but nothing special, as newbie adventurers devotedly resided in the first two floors for months even, and did not dare venture further without atleast high double digit statuses in atleast three fields.
He thought to himself, "Why is nothing on this floor? Is the sixth floor where the new monsters come out? Or did some party clean out the floor before I arrived?" for it had been well over half an hour that he had walked the length and breadth of the floor.
He considered his options further, "Maybe this path is so frequented that the Dungeon avoids spawning monsters here and I should take another one?" And so Bell shifted left and right, considering where he should go, for he knew that there were atleast three side-paths he could take right now. As he placed his hand on the wall to his left, resting momentarily, the wall crumbled, and Bell clumsily fell through, coughing as the dust filled his lungs.
As he wiped his eyes free of the dust, he looked around and muttered to himself, "An unmarked passage? So high up in the Dungeon? How come no one ever discovered this?" As he looked around, weapon at the ready in case there were monsters to be found around.
His eyes widened when they fell upon what was quite literally, a large golden cup sitting daintily on what seemed to be a naturally formed stone platform. "… No…. these cups are called goblets" the young adventurer remembered from his lessons at the village. He thought to himself, "Wow, this thing must be worth a lot, though there is the possibility some First Class Adventurer left it here as for safekeeping or something. Maybe something like an Earth Mage? Certainly the rock platform cannot be natural.
Bell gulped, quite audibly, because he did not want to accidentally enrage a powerful adventurer by taking their property, but if it was unowned, then it would fetch an extraordinary sum for his Familia, which could help him and his goddess improve the condition of their Church, or atleast afford good food for quite a while. As he observed it further, he considered that it looked fairly homely, despite being made out of solid gold and his goddess, being the Goddess of the Hearth, may even find it to be something she likes.
After a couple moment's deliberation, he pocketed the Goblet, deciding that he would make a passing report of it to his advisor, Eina Tulle, to see if she could find out if any adventurer put up a quest for the object, and take it to their Familia home so his Goddess could appreciate it, even it turned out to be a temporary gift.
He ducked his way out of the newly created passageway, and walked towards the main path. He stood still for another moment, considering whether it was worthwhile to stay on the floor for a while longer, or clean up some more Kobolds, when a large roar came from behind him, "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGHHH".
Much like a frightened rabbit, he leaped forwards, away from the noise, and turned quickly to see something that would have him quaking in his boots if he did not know that doing so would not help him one bit. A minotaur, a powerful monster that could contend with third grade High Class Adventurers, and which definitely should have been atleast half a dozen more floors down.
The bipedal bull gave him no respite, as it barrelled towards him, roaring "UAAAAGH", which only resulted in Bell jumping out of its way while screaming as if in response, "AAAAAAAAAAAAAA", purely out of fear rather than courage.
The man-bull turned around quite instantly and pummelled the wall above where Bell had been standing in front of not a second ago with extra-ordinary force, cratering it while Bell himself ducked. He could not escape the beast, nor could he fight it effectively, and so for all intents and purposes, Bell Cranel of Hestia Familia was quite literally doomed.
And yet he thought, closing his eyes to avoid seeing his cause of demise "SOMEONE SAVE ME" and the sentient goblet in the pouch at his waist thought in response, "Very well, Little Cranel, you shall have your saviours".
Immediately, his pouch began to shake gently, with a bright light escaping from its unfastened ends with extraordinary splendour that no one but the minotaur would bear witness to, seeing as to how Bell Cranel's eyes were still shut.
Two voices rang through the air, with powerful baritones overlapping one another.
"Servant Saber, I have been summoned here."
"Servant Lancer, I answer your calls summoner."
And to this, Bell opened his eyes, stupefied at what he was hearing, and opened his eyes to see that in between him and the minotaur, which had been flung back to the opposite wall of the cavern, were two men of even height, but of starkly differing appearances.
One was a grey-haired man, exuding a glow that Bell could only describe as Divine, even though he had never seen a god produce such a thing. He had a kindly, yet stern visage upon his face that Bell thought reminded him of his grandfather a bit, with what appeared to be a golden mask tied to his hip. Bell looked closer and saw that the man's hair was neatly cropped, much like the guards of Orario, and his eyes widened exponentially when he saw that the man's hands and sword which was attached to his hip, were engulfed in flames. If Bell was forced to answer, he would think that the man was in his 50s but his physique could put any powerful adventurer to shame. His armour however, seemed to be some form of light type that he had never seen.
The other man was younger, appearing to be about thirty five, with a far more serious expression on his face, though he lacked the glow that was…. Divine. His equipment seemed to be more standard full-plate armour that Bell had seen strong adventurers were, though he lacked a helmet and instead had a strange type of bronze diadem, which resembled a wreath of leaves resting upon his head.
It was the younger man who spoke first, breaking the monotone that even the Minotaur had not, and Bell from his stupor, "It would seem we share a Master, Saber…. Perhaps this is some sort of strange Apocrypha?"
Bell stood up shakily, as he widened his eyes at the Minotaur beyond them getting up as well
The older man nodded, "It is either that or our Master is exceedingly powerful…." The older man paused, raising an eyebrow at nothing in particular before continuing "No… I believe the Grail has fed you the information as well. We've somehow found ourselves outside the Standard set of Worlds."
The younger man chuckled mirthlessly, "Alas, it would seem there are no wishes for us… though the concept of… Familias is it? It intrigues me." Bell gulped audibly, before trying to interrupt, "Umm…. Misters… I know you both are strong… but that minotaur over there might hurt you."
Both of them turned to look at him, and Bell shrank a bit, not knowing what to do under the gaze of both the High-Class adventurers, when the older man began laughing, not unkindly.
The minotaur began to roar yet again, clearly angry that it had been ignored for a conversation even, and prepared to rush the adventurers. The other man… "Lancer" Bell remembered, did not even spare the beast a glance, and threw his spear at a speed faster than Bell's eye could follow in the direction of the Minotaur, skewering it's head in an instant, causing it to explode, and dissolve into black mist, and creating a gigantic crater in the Dungeon's walls.
With a soft thud, the large purple stone which served as the Minotaur's heart of sorts, dropped to the ground, and the Spear-wielder walked over to the object, with a hint of curiosity on his face. Bell quickly remembered his manners and spoke, "Thank you very much, misters, I did not realise both of you were something like Level 4s." For indeed, who but such high level adventurers could do what they could, and thinking so he asked, "Which Familia are you both part of, misters?"
The Spear-wielder had retrieved his spear, and exchanged a glance with the glowing Swordsman who decided to speak, "Consider us to be…. searching for a Familia to join so to speak, Master, our previous… god has to leave Orario on some business."
Bell nodded in confusion, before processing what had been said fully, and shouted excitedly, "Master? Never mind that misters, would you like to join my Familia?!" and saying so he bowed his head three times rapidly before continuing, "I know you are Level Four or higher, and I am only a Level One, but my goddess is a very nice one, and I would like to learn from my saviours." He blurted out at high speed.
It was the Spear-Wielder who spoke, some humour on his face, "Saber… you'll need to tell him what we are properly." And saying so, he tossed something towards Bell, who barely managed to catch it, and whose jaw dropped when he realised it was the minotaur stone.
He spoke, "I can't possibly accept this mister Lancer, as you killed the beast." The man tilted his head and spoke, "Just call me Lancer..." after which he gave a pointed look towards Bell who realised he was indirectly asking for his name and blabbed, "Oh, my name is Bell Cranel, mister Lancer!"
The man shook his head slowly, and spoke, "Just call me Lancer… Matthias Corvinus, you know what Master….. Bell, you can call me Matthias, that's my name. And besides… you've basically summoned me and Saber into this plane, you're entitled to the…. magic stone is it?" And Bell once again tilted his head in confusion, though he gasped at Matthias' kindness and pocketed the stone.
However, once he placed it in his pouch with the Goblet, he shook for a moment, for a blinding headache had struck him, and so he swayed, about to fall. It was Matthias who caught him, and who spoke, "I recognize that he is suffering from magical fatigue…. But this is strange… I've never been a very expensive Servant to maintain. Maybe it's the fact there's two of us?" He asked to the older man, Saber, who had been staring pensively.
The man took in a deep breath before… sheepishly smiling and saying, "That's not it I suppose…. I've only ever been summoned once, atleast that's what the Throne of Heroes tells me, and the Master then had no trouble supporting even my Noble Phantasms but I suppose I'm an exorbitant Servant to keep around for the average person, might as well help him a bit." And saying so, the flames around the man's fists disappeared along with his Sword, turning into bright sparkling blue dust.
Matthias raised an eyebrow, before his own spear disappeared, while Bell shook himself from his head-ache induced stupor, now that the headache itself had disappeared, before speaking, "Knowledge states that I or rather any copy of me has not seen you in any version of Chaldea either, so you're a rare servant to track down…. But since you're exorbitant to keep around… and clearly Roman…. you are Augustus? No I've seen him, so I suppose you are Trajan?"
The man chuckled before speaking, "No… but since you've revealed yourself to be Matthias Corvinus, I suppose there is little need for me to hide my identity, I was known as Lucius Domitius Aurelianus… though I suppose Bell and you can simply refer to me as Aurelian." Bell nodded his head, still not fully understanding what copies or Throne of Heroes they were talking about, but his eyebrows near disappeared into his hairline at what he heard next, Matthias whistled and spoke, "The Restorer of the World? I did not expect to see you summoned as a companion, though I would very much not like to face you…. I find top-class servants to be out of my league."
Bell whispered, "Restorer of the World? Servants?" and thought, whoever this man is he must truly be very powerful for such a Title… but these two did not know each other until they revealed their names, even though they called each other Saber and Lancer… what exactly am I dealing with here?
Aurelian spoke, sighing loudly, "The Senate always outdid itself in naming emperors but never mind that", he then stared at Bell who was mouthing the word 'emperor' before speaking, "Very well, Bell Cranel, who is your Goddess? And will she not be the one who shall have ultimate say in our admission to your Familia?"
Bell chuckled, and smiled brilliantly, "There's no way Hestia-sama will deny any potential recruits! Oh yes, goddess Hestia is the patron of my Familia, I assure you she's very nice!"
Aurelian muttered, "Vesta? Hmmm, yes, I suppose she would indeed be very nice, being the Goddess of the Hearth. Very well then, come boy, Matthias and I shall speak to your goddess…. Though I suppose you will want to exchange the stones you have earned today for currency first. Let us make haste… I mislike the way the… Dungeon…has… aired out now."
Indeed, Bell felt that the Dungeon had suddenly become colder and in feeling so, he did not question how they knew of Hestia-sama's other name and happily led them towards the Dungeon exit, away from the oppressive feeling.
===================XeX=====================
It was the consciousness of the Dungeon that awoke in great fury, for a god had trespassed upon its domain…UPON ITS SELF! At the fifth floor…. But then it paused, for this did not feel fully like a god, no…. the malevolent entity supposed that it was rather similar to a spirit.
"A god mated with a spirit to birth this thing? No… that is not it…It is a close assessment but I do not understand this creature's nature fully….. It is alien to my understanding. I shall see what it is next time it enters the Dungeon, for a god could not fight monsters without perishing soon enough, unless they were willing to unseal themselves and be returned to their Plane."
And thinking so, the malevolent consciousness resigned itself to sleep.
===================XeX=====================
Before heading to the Familia home as usual, the old church that is, Bell would cash in the magic stones like Aurelian had recommended, and also speak to Eina, his half-elf guild advisor… reporting of his adventure so to speak.
She was a pretty, brown haired woman with elfin ears, who wore the standard guild uniform and had finished chatting with another adventurer before he entered the guild. Both Aurelian and Matthias, or… Saber and Lancer decided to accompany him, while Bell spoke to Eina.
She spoke, smiling upon seeing his own happy face, though her eyes darted from the literally glowing Aurelian to the sombre Matthias, before speaking "Hello Bell! You're back very early today, did you injure yourself or something? Or did you decide to take a break?"
Bell responded, chirpily, "I indeed went to the Dungeon like usual, but t-t-today was very strange!" And saying so he recited to the Guild employee about the circumstances of finding the goblet, being attacked by the Minotaur, and then being saved by the mysterious high-level adventurers, Matthias and Aurelian, who had appeared in the very nick of time, at which she raised an eyebrow at the two older men yet again, before speaking, this time in their direction "I thank you for helping Bell in the dungeon, I would not like to imagine what would have happened if the Minotaur had got to him before you did!"
The two warriors nodded politely, before Eina continued, adjusting her glasses as she spoke, "I would like to inform you however that since you appear to be newcomers to Orario, you would have to register at the Guild if you want to exchange magic stones for Valis, after fighting through the Dungeon."
Bell looked on as Aurelian leaned in a bit, his glow clearly causing Eina confusion as he spoke, "I believe we shall require the necessary forms for the same if you wish for us to join the guild." At which Eina smiled, "O-Of course!" and dropped two very heavy stacks of documents onto the counter, causing both of the warriors to look at each other in bemusement.
As they turned to leave, with Bell at their head, Eina spoke again, "Oh yes, which Familia are the two of you part of, if indeed both of you are part of the same one?"
Matthias was the one who spoke, his slightly coarse baritone cutting through the air, "We were considering joining the Familia of Bell here, but I suppose it is indeed upto the goddess Hestia if she wishes for us to join."
Eina nodded, and Bell waved to her again after finishing exchanging his magic stones under the bemused eyes of the two Servants, not that he yet knew what Servants were.
===================XeX=====================
Today's haul was outright extraordinary for a new adventurer such as Bell himself, seeing as the stone was worth more than all the goblins that Bell had been fighting for the past two weeks, and it indeed kept him on his toes, for he did not want to be robbed of the same.
As for his two rescuers, they were chatting with each other in a language Bell had never heard, though it would seem Matthias could speak in dozens of languages as he kept using words completely foreign to one another in sound while Aurelian would respond in the same after a moment's pause.
But it was soon enough that they reached the old, crumbling church, and so it was that Bell sheepishly spoke, "I know it isn't much, but we are a n-n-new familia after all! We have a water supply and a kitchen to cook in as well! Though I do not know where you will sleep…." rubbing his head in embarrassment, when the two warriors began to laugh, quite loudly and full of mirth, drawing the attention of some passers-by, while Bell himself turned red.
Aurelian spoke, gently wiping a tear of laughter from his eyes "No, I suppose I've seen worse as I've travelled, but this is a long way down from a palace or a castle, eh?" to which Matthias responded, "Indeed, it is no Corvin Castle… but it shall do. Soldiers can hardly complain where their barracks turns out to be, and besides… we're not exactly normal soldiers."
Bell did not fully understand what was happening, but he was glad that the two… who seemed to be nobles of some sort did not take offence at the state of the church, and instead lead them pass the broken pews of the church to the room behind the altar.
The three of them leisurely descended the stairs where Bell opened the door and spoke loudlyyy, "Goddess I'm home!" to which an exceedingly short girl with twintails, and a strange white dress jumped from the sofa she was resting upon to shout, "Belll! You're back early, what happened? Also who are these men?"
She then went in front of Aurelian before speaking, in a very confused tone, "A god? No…. you remind me of someone I knew, but you're not a god… right?" to which Bell was floored, but Aurelian rubbed his head in a sheepish fashion before speaking, "No… the feeling you're experiencing is probably of my father… Sol, but I'm not exactly a god… you would consider me a… half god? But even then that isn't right…"
But Hestia had began jumping, as she spoke, "Sol had a son? How!? This shouldn't be possible, besides I thought he's still stuck up in Tenkai, wait… which Sol? I know that Loki also knows a Sol who's different from the Sol I know."
Now it was Aurelian's turn to be befuddled at the excitable goddess before speaking, rubbing his beard, "I suppose it is the Sol you know… but not exactly? Sol Invictus?" to which Hestia nodded, "Indeed, that's his full name, but that doesn't explain how exactly you…. exist?"
Matthias spoke up, "Bell…. that goblet in your pouch…. bring it out, it'll help us explain how Aurelian came to be." And Bell nodded once, not exactly sure how the golden goblet would help in any fashion.
Hestia spoke, her voice low, "That is most definitely not an ordinary cup…. The magic power it is producing is….. astronomical… how didn't I notice it before?" to which Aurelian responded, "That would be the Holy Grail…. It is not exactly of this…. universe…. and neither are we I suppose. Under standard circumstances it would grant the wish of anyone who lays claim to it after defeating six other people who have summoned… spirits of deceased heroes called Servants to fight for them in a Holy Grail war. We are two such Servants."
Matthias continued, "There are some abnormal circumstances, such as an Apocrypha, where there are two teams of seven servants each who fight for the right to conduct a normal war where the winning team begins to fight each other for the wish. But this… is a totally alien situation, for the Grail never manifests until all servants are defeated, and as you can see, it's very much present here, rendering our knowledge faulty at best."
Hestia spoke, "Servants are…. Spirits of deceased heroes? Then that would make the two of you spirits as well?" to which the older man sighed before his glow dimmed, as he spoke, "Indeed…. the Grail reaches into the Throne of Heroes, and brings to bear a physical manifestation of the aspect of a legend of a 'hero', usually. Heroes from the past, and the future, all can be summoned into physical form… and sometimes those that can be considered anti-heroes and villains as well, based on the particular grail system at play."
Matthias continued, "The Servants are divided into seven classes normally, Saber" he pointed at Aurelian, "Lancer" pointed at himself, "then Archer, Rider, Caster, Assassin, and Berserker. Though there are also non-standard classes such as Ruler, Shielder, Saver with a v, Alter-Ego, Foreigner, Beast, Avenger and a few more which are irrelevant."
Bell spoke up… "So since Aurelian uses a sword he is a Saber? And since you use a spear you are a Lancer?" To which Matthias nodded before continuing, "Indeed, though we do have alternate classes we can be summoned in. Qualification for the classes require having an affinity for the same, since I had skill in both magic as well as the spear, I can be summoned as a Caster as well. Archer, Lancer and Saber are the three Knight Classes so to speak, who are regarded to possess the best parameters in general…. with Saber as the strongest overall, Lancer the fastest, and Archer generally okay, though I digress, seeing as Riders generally seem to have the best parameters from my experience, but never mind that. Archers use any form of projectile weaponry, not just bows, so don't be fooled by the name. The Cavalry classes so to speak, are Rider, who possesses great mobility where Lancers possess agility, and are defined by their vehicles or mounts; Casters who are great magicians; Assassins who are generally the weakest in terms of parameters but are undetectable and skilled in killing Masters, and who are often members of an organization known as the Hashshashin and finally, Berserkers who are people who trade their sanity for increased parameters, or naturally strong servants who are simply insane."
Hestia spoke up, "Parameters? I assume you mean some sort of equivalent to the Falna we know?"
Aurelian spoke this time, "Bell, focus your eyes upon the both of us, and think of our Parameters, you should be able to see them." And Bell did as told, straining his eyes, until words began to appear around the two Servants. He gasped, before speaking, "Yes! Matthias's Luck is E, Strength is C+, and Agility is A+, among other things."
He then turned to look at Aurelian, and jaw dropped as he stammered, "A-A-Aurelian's stats are very high, near everything at A or B except for his Mana… which is at D."
Hestia tilted her head before speaking, "What do the particular letters mean in terms of your strength? I understand that A is the highest while E is the weakest."
Aurelian spoke, "It is…. somewhat confusing to be fair. Imagine a strong human to be a value of 1, a servant with E rank strength to be equal to 10. You would imagine an E rank Luck stat to mean that the Servant is 10 times as lucky as a regular human, but for unknown reasons they are also 10 times unluckier. What I mean is, if in a stroke of luck, a human would find 100 coins, an E rank Luck bearing Servant would find a 1000, but if a human would be struck by an arrow, the same servant would be struck by ten arrows. D rank Luck is the same, 20 times luckier and unluckier. But C is where the status flips the script so to speak, the servant is only 30 times luckier, without the misfortune at lower ranks. EX is a strange one, but it can mean that the category in question exceeds all normal parameters, or falls outside the standard understanding of the numerical scale."
Bell nodded, before speaking, "So since Aurelian's strength is A… you are 50 times as strong as a strong human? But there is a + or – modifier on some of your stats as well."
Matthias was the one who spoke, leaning against the wall with his legs crossed, "A+ is generally accepted to mean that he's a 100 times stronger than a stronger human, though I suppose he is stronger still but by how much cannot be exactly quantified unless he's fighting a Servant whose very legend has a proper description of their Strength. And besides, a Servant is never as strong as the Hero they were derived from, for example there is a Hero known as Bhima whose legend states that he possesses the strength of ten thousand elephants, a servant version of the same, would have a Strength rank of A+++, but he would still not be as strong as his legend states, unless… the Grail War he's being summoned in has a large stockpile of magical energy from several incomplete Wars from the past.."
Hestia spoke, her eyes wide "Oh… that is indeed very very strong, do you have any idea how it would compare to the Levels of our world?" Matthias rubbed his head for a bit before speaking, "I find no shame in admitting that I am thoroughly a moderately strong Lancer, and the knowledge that the Grail provides me of the World tells me that I would roughly be the equivalent of a Level 6 or 7 with the usage of all my Skills. But with my Noble Phantasms, that is… the Crystallized mysteries of my existence as a Hero, would bring my Level closer to 10. Aurelian here on the other hand…. Is quite simply a top-tier Servant…. purely physically, with all his Skills, he is already a Level 10, and with his Noble Phantasms, he would rank higher, though how high I cannot say, seeing as at full power he could destroy a very large country with a single blow." He then stopped, for he was amused to see the shell-shocked expressions upon the faces of the two natives of this world.
Hestia was the one who finally spoke, biting down on her lip "H-h-higher… than Level 10? Without the Falna? Destroying a country? You Heroic Spirits are something else…. but since Bell has become your Master…. I suppose there is nothing else to do but welcome you into the Familia, though I think I will update Bell's status first."
Aurelian nodded, "Indeed… his Magic status should be updated as quickly as possible, to pay for my upkeep in particular…. Is expensive to say the least, though I wager the Falna contract would mean I draw power from yourself as well, not to mention that the Grail itself is… strangely generous with mana for now."
Bell nodded, eager to not have a headache yet again, and took off his shirt before scrambling onto the bed. Hestia huffed momentarily, before hopping onto Bell's Back, and pricked her finger with her knife, before tracing the blood on Bell's back. Once that was complete, Hestia grabbed some parchment and placed it onto the area where she had traced the finger, and pulled back, but not before seemingly rubbing the parchment for a moment.
Bell took the parchment and began to read through it, his eyes wide

Bell yelped in surprise at the massive jump in his Magic status, before speaking, "Wow, you weren't kidding when you said you were expensive to keep, Saber! I did not expect a three digit increase in my Magic!"
Aurelian spoke, chuckling in response, "I am doubtful you will need me at full strength anytime soon, hence you find me without several of my skills active so as to keep the upkeep at a minimum. I am still debating whether suppressing my Divinity would be beneficial or not in upkeep costs. But if you seem particularly stressed, I can always dematerialize myself so as to further reduce the cost."
Hestia gave an appreciative look towards Aurelian for considering Bell's wellbeing before speaking, "Very well, come on now, the both of you, I need to give you your Falna!"
And saying so, Hestia repeated the same process for Aurelian, before reading the parchment, her cheeks puffed, "The amount of skills you have are ridiculous! But… Level 1?"
Aurelian gently took the sheet from the goddess and began reading, and once he was finished, passed it to Bell

Magic Resistance: Nullifies all magecraft spells that are Rank A or below, no matter what High Thaumaturgy it is. Even Magecraft from Casters from the Age of Gods that approaches Magic has reduced potency.
Riding: Gains the ability to use all vehicles and creatures, including some Phantasmal Beasts as mounts. Rank is high enough to have an aptitude for the Rider class. Can situationally tame monsters.
Scourge of Germany: Agility goes up one tier when faced with Heroic Spirits of Germanic origin, Agility growth is increased when facing Germanic monsters.
Divinity: Exhibits higher offensive power against sun deity-lineage Heroic Spirits with Divinity B rank or lower, when faced with an entity who possesses equal divinity of the same lineage, he loses the offensive advantage, but the too loses the defensive advantage it exhibits against lower tier Sun-lineage divine spirits. Has the highest aptitude for Divine Spirit candidacy.
Golden Rule: He will never have a need for money in his existence as a servant. Increases the chance of finding drop items.
Imperial Privilege: Skill's true parameters are reduced severely but still gains skills including Charisma, Military Tactics, Arts, Swordsmanship and more. Can return to true parameters under certain circumstances.
Blessing of Martial Arts: Displays excellence not only in swordsmanship, but with all forms of martial arts, and hence can utilise a spear and bow as well as fight unarmed with powers close to a Noble Phantasm while as a Saber.
Aurelian spoke, his head tilted in confusion, "How strange, it does not make mention of my other two Noble Phantasms. But indeed, I am now receiving magical upkeep from two sources, Vesta herself and Master Bell."
Hestia tilted her head in confusion, as no doubt her train of thought had been interrupted, "Vesta? How do you know my other name? Oh right, the Grail gives you knowledge about the world."
Aurelian seemed completely perplexed, as he placed a hand on his close-cropped beard, "Not in particular, no? As Vesta, you are part of the standard Roman cults, though I myself proscribed to the worship of my father."
Hestia was confused to say the least, "Roman? Worship? I do not know what a Roman is, but standard Worship of the gods has not been done in a long, long time."
Aurelian was yet again, very confused before he suddenly seemed to have an epiphany, "Oh… right, this world is alien to the Standard Set. From my world, you, Zeus, and Hephaestus and several more gods would be considered to be… Greek. Vesta, Jupiter, and Vulcan were our… were Roman… equivalents of the Greek pantheon."
Hestia mused this as she cupped her chin with her small palm, "Hmm, this makes some sense, back in Tenkai, the three of us and other…. Greek gods as you call them did infact work together more often than other gods such as Ereshkigal or Amaterasu or something. The word pantheon however, is alien to me, for all of us were created by the Creator God, though I assume you mean gods with similar characteristics, rather than similar domains, I indeed worked with Apollo more than I ever worked with Sambo Kojin. But Zeus was never called Jupiter… indeed Jupiter was a famous Spirit who contracted with Argonaut, while it is true Hephaestus is also called Vulcan, she generally does not give that name out."
Aurelian blinked, "She? The god of smiths is a woman? Oh, I suppose I should not have been thinking in the terms of my world then, everything is so alien here, for you are referring to the Argonaut as a single Hero, Jupiter is merely a spirit rather than a god, and there is an overarching god who created all other gods."
Hestia clapped, "Yes! But… the Falna states that you are Level 1…. I do not mean to make light of your strength but…" she trailed off. It was Matthias who chuckled, "Very well, Hestia, watch." And saying so Bell blinked as Matthias had disappeared from in front of the stairs.
Hestia also seemed confused, but then Matthias appeared behind her and poked her cheek gently, to which she began sputtering, "You can teleport?" The Lancer simply shook his head and responded, "No, that was merely…. Speed."
Hestia, seemingly mollified, beckoned Matthias over, and began to repeat the process for a third time, while Bell decided to strike up a conversation with Aurelian. "Umm…. Emperor Aurelian… do you think I should summon a third servant?"
The elderly man seemed surprised and responded, "Not in particular no, if you summon a particularly expensive Archer, there is a very high chance you will be able to do nothing but merely walk. Besides, even if you summon a self-sufficient Caster, I do not see why there would be a need for more than me and Matthias, we are very powerful after all, child. And besides, refer to me and Matthias as Saber and Lancer once we leave the confines of the Familia home, I would rather not take risks. Of particular interest to me is the fact that the Summoning spell says several containers rather than seven, I do not exactly know what would happen if you summon a Saver or Sol forbid, a Beast, but you can summon a third servant once you… level up, no sooner."
Bell gulped, but his eyes sparkled at the prospect of bringing more heroes unto the fold, before speaking, "It is not that I don't trust your strength… Level 10 must be something else! It's that the more the number of Servants that are present in our Familia the more we can earn!"
Aurelian laughed, "Child… Bell, both me and Matthias… we possess the Skill, Golden Rule, I assure you, this Familia will never want for a single Vali. Indeed even if you summoned only one of us, you would have enough money to buy a mansion in less than a day."
Bell widened his eyes, for this meant that rather than being a subsistence type exploration Familia, they could mount greater expeditions. Then his eyes turned towards Hestia, who had finished contracting Matthias.
Matthias passed the parchment towards Bell, who began to read

Magic:
Fekete Sereg: Project's one's inner reality out into the world and brings to bear the idealization of Hungary, with Fortresses, Plains, and Rivers along with all 28,000 of Matthias' Black Army, to fight the opponent.
Minor Portal: Portal spell to access the Bibiliotheca Corviniana.
Skills:
Magic Resistance: The ability to invalidate magic with three verses or less, as well as receive little to no damage against high thaumaturgy or greater rituals.
Golden Rule: He will never have a need for money in his existence as a servant.
Imperial Privilege: Gains access to Skills such as Riding, Swordsmanship, Charisma and Tactics.
Espionage: Invalidates him as a threat if he is wearing civilian clothing, but not to the level of becoming a friend of the opponent.
Hestia clapped again, "Very well! We'll all eat the Jagamaru-Kuns as the two of you can tell us your histories!"
The two servants exchanged a look, before dispelling their armour, and seating themselves on the sofa, while she began to lightly salt the potato puffs she had brought home. Aurelian spoke up, "We do not exactly need food… or sleep… we are Spirits after all, though the same is rather nice, and can provide magical nourishment in great enough quantities."
Hestia scowled and spoke, "None of that nonsense, I am the goddess of the Hearth! Make yourselves at home, eat the potato puffs! Spirit or not, the two of you are not going to starve!"
Aurelian chuckled, and bit a puff gently, he chewed momentarily before his eyes opened, "This… is not bad, a bit of garum and I wager the citizens at home would love it!" And hearing his response, Matthias bit into the same, and spoke, "Hmm… I do not know about fermented fish paste, but paprika perhaps, would make a nice seasoning."
Hestia spoke, a smile on her face, "I'm glad you liked it, but go on! Tell us of your past!" to which the older man laughed and spoke, "I became Emperor of a splintered Empire at the age of fifty five, and spent the next four years ending the Crisis of the Third Century, earning me the…. rather embarrassing moniker of Restorer of the World." And so the rest of the night passed with the two servants regaling the Goddess and Young Man with their lives as Emperor and King.
Well, there's the Prologue. And of course, I was inspired by harouki's Heroic Myth. It will differ obviously, as I'm not a plagiariser, but there remains the fact that I'm a new writer, so I hope you guys can forgive any mistakes I might make.
All constructive criticism is welcome, both in reviews as well as on PM. Also, Aurelian and Matthias will be the only two non-canon servants in the story, unless I decide to incorporate a Foreigner. Once Bell reaches Level 2, he will be summoning an Archer first, I'm considering two options for the same, one is Arash, the other is Proto-Gil. Rider is almost certainly going to be Iskandar unless I change my mind. If you have any other interesting suggestions for the Archer or any other Servant role, then please do mention! Thanks, till next time.
Spokes of Time.
Here's the Saint Graphs of both Servants.

Agility: A+
Mana: B+
Luck: E
NP: EX
Background: Matthias Corvinus, the Raven King, was the ruler of Hungary and Croatia who ushered in his country's golden age, turning a standard Balkan state into a European superpower while he was alive. Creator of the world's first commonly accepted professional army and the first patron of the Renaissance outside of Italy, Matthias was of a keen mind both in and outside the battlefield.
Personality:Born with extraordinary drive, determination and intellect, there was no other path for him than that of a king, though he had the mind of a powerful scholar capable of speaking all languages of Europe, from his native Hungarian to Latin and English, he instead trod the path of the king. Regarded as Matthias the Just, he took no favouritism in his appointments to power, and treated everyone in the same fair, yet harsh manner. He learnt from many of the greatest scholars of Europe at the time, and had the innate creativeness to arrive at solutions hitherto unknown to even them, such as the creation of the Black Army. If he ever meets Vlad Tepes, he will consider him as a brutal ruler he imprisoned, but will be more willing to work with him than most other servants due to their mutual hate for the Ottomans as well as the fact that Vlad fought in his army for a while. A part in his amicability to working with Vlad is his regret at Vlad's status as a vampire stemming from his imprisonment at Matthias' hand as Vlad was unable to clear his name of such accusations during his imprisonment.
Appearance: He appears as a handsome, yet grim faced man, with a bronze wreath resting on his brown hair which stretches to his shoulder. He is reasonably muscular, and has the presence of a true king. A modern person might say, "Oh he looks like the main actor from Gladiator". His favoured clothing is his armour, though the embroidery on his dark green cuirass and dark blue cape contains the raven he was so fond of. He also likes wearing business suits.
Class Skills:
Magic Resistance (B+): Matthias was acquainted with some of the greatest scholars, both magical and non-magical in his youth as well as acting as a patron later in his life as the Raven King; hence, under their guidance he developed the ability to invalidate magic with three verses or less, as well as receive little to no damage against high thaumaturgy or greater rituals. Though normally it would be a B, his class role as a Lancer has increased its efficacy by a bit.
Personal Skills:
Golden Rule (B): Matthias strengthened his empire's coinage so considerably; it remained valid for two centuries. In addition to this, his ability to levy extraordinary taxes without compromising the stability of his empire gives him this ability, hence he will not want for money.
Imperial Privilege(B-): For Matthias Corvinus, the greatest Hungarian King, Privilege was not his birthright, but easily brought to bear later on. His fascination with Rome further developed the Imperial Privilege he brought to bear. He gains access to Skills such as Riding, Swordsmanship, Charisma and Tactics.
Espionage(C-) : Unlike more adept members possessing this Skill, Matthias' espionage does not eliminate his hostile intent to the level of even being considered a friend. Rather it invalidates him as a threat if he is wearing civilian clothing provided by his master instead of his combat gear. This stems from him once disguising himself as the groom of a horse to such a level that enemy soldiers were unable to recognize him as Matthias and even gave him coins to tend to their horses as well.
Noble Phantasms:
Matthias has three noble phantasms:
Fekete Sereg:
Ranking: A- (Reality Marble)
Classification: Anti-Army
Range: 1-99
Maximum Number of Targets: 1000
Matthias is able to summon his Black Army inside his Reality Marble, which reflects his Ideal Hungary, with rivers, plains, fortresses and other strategically advantageous positions appearing on Matthias' side. It summons all 28,000 of his soldiers, from cavalry, navy, infantry and more. Though it is similar in nature, it is inferior to Iskandar's Ionioi Hetaroi because not all of the soldiers are Heroic Spirits, rather they are an existence closer to wraiths, though the captains are heroic spirits. All of the soldiers possess an E- in Independent Action, allowing them to exist for 30 minutes at a time.
Bibliotheca Corviniana:
Ranking: EX
Classification: Anti-Fortress
Range: 1-99
Maximum Number of Targets: 5
Matthias, as the Raven King, and one of the most powerful rulers of his age, collected massive amounts of books, magical scrolls, grimoires and such for atleast thirty years in the Bibliotheca Corviniana, second only to the Vatican Library. He eventually collected an amount of 1000 magical artifacts, while his overall collection, including non-magical books was closer to six and a half thousand. In his class as a Lancer, he cannot use all 1000 of the artifacts, but only 5 extremely powerful spells, each capable of levelling fortresses, but similarly limited in application. Each spell has different attributes of Water, Fire, Holy, Shadow and Lightning. However, rather than casting the spells, he is utilising the scrolls/grimoires in his collection, limiting their use to one time each until the artifacts replenish themselves, whereas as a Caster he would be able to use the spells on his own accord.
Az Igazsagossag Landzsa (Spear of Justice):
Ranking: B+
Classification: Anti Unit
Range: 2-4
Maximum Number of Targets: 1
It is the crystallisation of the saying associated with his myth, "Dead is Matthias, Lost is Justice", where he is regarded as Matthias the Just, who wanders in disguise throughout his realm to deliver justice to his subjects and whose death results in the removal of the concept from Hungary. It is his main weapon, and like his unwavering dedication to the concept, it is unbreakable. It also rises in parameters to an A+Phantasm when faced with a target Matthias would consider unjust. When activated, the Spear conceptually enforces justice onto its target, damaging them in a concentrated burst of lightning.

Class: Saber
Alternate Classes: Lancer, Rider, Shielder, Archer
Stat Sheet
Strength: A+
Endurance: A+
Agility: B+
Mana: D
Luck: B-(EX)
NP: EX
Background: Born from Humble Circumstances, Aurelian won an unprecedented series of military victories which not only reunited the near-crumbling Roman Empire, but extended its lifespan by two hundred years (a thousand in the case of the Eastern Roman Empire). He was responsible for the evacuation of Dacia, reconquest of Palmyra and Gaul, as well as the construction of the Aurelian Walls, along with monetary reform. Humble Birth aside, his true nature was both that of a demigod, as well as the god incarnate, with the god in question being Sol Invictus, a newer form of the Roman God of Sol.
Personality: A stern man in public yet adored for the same reason, Aurelian bore the greatest responsibility any Emperor had ever faced, and yet his determination never faded. His stern persona, was paradoxically the same reason he was considered so charismatic that his legions made him Emperor over the senate's puppet, Quintillius. He never let his position as Emperor, nor his true divinity cloud his judgement or prevent his selection of worthy candidates for their roles in war or administration. He adhered to Justice, and was considered the greatest proponent of the same by all Romans, though this eventually caused his death by a cowardly secretary, afraid of Aurelian's justice coercing his Praetorians to assassinate him over false reasons. Though he could have resisted them with ease, he chose to accept his death with grace, and passed onto reunite with his parent-self Sol Invictus. In private life, he was a gentle person, easy to laugh and kind.
Appearance: Fond of wearing a mask that indicated his devotion to Sol, his preferred garb was his legionary armour which in turn was engraved with the likeness of Sol yet again, and whose clasps also were of the same design. Aurelian himself appears as silver haired, yet incredibly fit man with a stern expression often on his face. He exudes a minor glow, indicative of his divine nature, while his silver beard also shimmers gently.
Class Skills:
Magic Resistance (A+): Having contended with the incredibly powerful sorcerer kings Tetricus of Gaul, and Shapur of Iran, as well as personally duelling the latter sorcerer to retrieve Emperor Valerian's remains, Aurelian gained an incredible resistance to magecraft, such that it nullifies all magecraft spells that are Rank A or below, no matter what High Thaumaturgy it is. Modern mages would be unable to wound Aurelian with their magecraft and even Caster servants from the Age of the Gods would find it hard to harm Aurelian unless they have A+ rank Magecraft that approaches the level of Magic at their disposal.
Riding (A): Spending decades as part of the Equestrian Legions, and riding beasts such as Camels, Elephants, and even some strange mystical creatures such as manticores, Aurelian gains the ability to use all vehicles and creatures, except most of the Phantasmal Beast Rank and all of the Divine Beast rank as mounts. This rank is high enough to have an aptitude for the Rider Class.
Personal Skills:
Scourge of Germany (A) : Aurelian's Agility goes up one tier to (A+) when faced with Heroic Spirits of German origin as a reminder of his lightning fast victories over the various Germanic tribes.
Divinity (A): The son of Sol Invictus, the Undefeated Sun God, and a mortal priestess of the cult; he was also the God incarnate at the same time, a curious, near paradoxical existence. After his death, he reunited with the over-spirit of Sol Invictus, resolving the paradox and giving him the highest Divine Spirit aptitude. When he fights sun deity-lineage Heroic Spirits with Divinity B rank or lower, he exhibits higher offensive power against them. When faced with an entity like Karna, who possesses equal divinity of the same lineage, he loses the offensive advantage, but Karna too loses the defensive advantage he exhibits against lower tier Sun-lineage divine spirits.
Golden Rule (B-): His ease of reconquering fertile parts of the empire, as well as strengthening Rome's coinage indicates that he would never have a need for money in his existence as a servant.
Imperial Privilege A-(EX): As the only Emperor luckier than Augustus and better than Trajan, it stands to reason he should be the perfect Emperor. However, in a similar manner as to his luck, it's true parameters are reduced severely due to the betrayal he underwent by the Praetorians, those who were handpicked to guard Emperors. He gains skills including Charisma, Military Tactics, Arts, Swordsmanship and more. It along with his luck can return to his true parameters if he is either commanded by command seal, utilizing his third phantasm, or facing an enemy from his time.
Blessing of Martial Arts(A): He displays excellence not only in swordsmanship, but with all forms of martial arts, and hence can utilise a spear and bow with powers close to a Noble Phantasm while as a Saber.
Mana Burst (Flame) (A): In Aurelian's case, blazing solar flames become magical energy to dwell in both the weapon used as well as his own body. The Skill is usually active and all the weapons Aurelian grasps receive this effect. In combination with his Blessing, it is incredibly powerful.
Noble Phantasms:
Aurelian has three noble phantasms:
Gladius Mundo Iobeleum:
Ranking: EX
Classification: Anti-Country
Range: 2-99
Maximum Number of Targets: 5000
The crystallization of his greatest name and achievement, Restitutor Orbis, is his sword of world restoration, the Gladius Mundo Iobeleum. It is capable of producing enough Solar Flares to destroy a country the size of Gaul, i.e France, as well as make 'civilized' that is, fertilize a similar sized land with rain, cities, roads and more. If used on a destroyed country, it brings it to its original state. It is a dual phantasm of both destruction and creation, as it destroyed the independence that Tetricus and Zenobia craved, while it created the new lease on life that the Roman Empire gained. It takes the appearance of a regular gladius, coated in flames that would scorch anything if let loose.
The Walls of Rome
Ranking: A+
Classification: Fortress/Self
Range: 2-50
Maximum Number of Targets: N/A or 1
Aurelian brings to bear the city walls that surrounded Rome that he constructed. Originally enclosing over 3,500 acres, the walls when summoned, can condense into stronger, shorter, and denser walls that can protect Aurelian and his allies from B rank or lower attacks until they disappear after 24 hours. Aurelian can even control the walls to such a degree that they can form a temporary castle-like structure for a week's time. If Aurelian chooses to however, the Walls themselves condense to the greatest limit, into a set of heavy armour, that only Aurelian's high strength parameter allow him to bear. The Armour provides him great resistance to even A+ grade attacks until they dissipate after fifteen minutes. This phantasm is what gives him his aptitude towards the Shielder class.
Aeterna Victrix
Ranking: A+++
Classification: Conceptual
Range: Infinite
Maximum Number of Targets: 1
Always loyal to every Emperor he served under, always Humble no matter his origin nor position, and always victorious no matter the odds, and born from his service as a legionnaire Aurelian's third Noble Phantasm can only be applied when he is fighting an exceptional servant on the scale of Gilgamesh or similar. It conceptually applies the concept of victory onto him and his actions, hand in hand with unlocking his EX Rank luck and Privilege. It grants him foresight as to how best to defeat his foe as well as all their weaknesses and strengths and even warps reality ever so slightly to be conducive to his victory. However, he can use it only a single time, making it a last resort Phantasm unlike Archer Karna's EX rank Vijaya Bow, which grants him a high conceptual level of victory in every battle he fights. It can however, trump Vijaya Bow's effects if Archer Karna and Aurelian were to fight, but if their battle is interrupted, Aurelian will most definitely lose his next encounter against such a superior foe.
