The Affiance
Chapter one
Hermione sighed as the prefects left the room, and collected her parchment from the old desk of the cold empty classroom.
Being a head girl was tedious indeed. Especially when she had to call all these meetings and carry it out, trying her best not to snap at anyone. She finally managed to convince every head for their prefects patrolling duties with a prefect from another house.
The war being over, Hogwarts was trying it's best to promote house tolerance and unity , so McGonagall had asked Hermione to arrange the patrolling duties in pairs from different houses.
"What about us? You never mentioned where the heads were patrolling. "
Malfoy's cool voice caused her to snap out of her musings and she turned towards her fellow head boy with a small frown.
After one month of house arrest Draco Malfoy along with three other Slytherins was asked to come back to Hogwarts for their graduation by the ministry with no wand for three months.
Hermione was surprised how neutral he was behaving, with her as well as other Gryffindors.
Not once did he throw his usual "dirty glare " to her or any other muggleborn, in fact polite nods and greetings often left his mouth if she bumped into him by any chance. He no longer walked through the school with the arrogant "I own the place" look but quietly walked with whom she recognized as Blaise Zabini and Theodore Nott in his company.
Malfoy had become quite attractive, she'd give him that, with his pale face and toned body he looked quite charming, she blushed at that.
Merlin what was wrong with her!
"Staring is rude. I honestly expected you knew this, Granger " He spoke with a smirk causing Hermione to flush.
So much for not being arrogant.
"I wasn't staring Malfoy" She said lamely, looking away from him.
"Sure"
Coughing awkwardly, she slung her back in her shoulder before speaking,
"As for the rounds, I will patrol the North Tower and you can do the Dungeons. Well meet at the Seventh floor at 9 and patroll the remaining corridors before curfew."
"Okay then." She heard him say and she nodded at him before walking out of the room and towards the library.

Draco watched as Hermione walked out of the room her "heavy-looking" bag slung in her shoulder. Sighing he too, collected his bag and walked out aimlessly through the corridor.
As he made his way outside the castle, a chilly evening breeze welcomed him and he pulled the sleeve of his robes a little lower so they were now covering half of his hands.
It had been a fine year so far, excluding "the information " his mother broke to him, right before he left for his final boarding of the Scarlet Train.
He along with Blaise, Theo and another Slytherin whom he didn't really know, Tobias Rowle, were asked to return for their graduation by the ministry as a part of their "punishment, after one month of house arrest.
That was nothing, they could be sentenced worse, Dementor's kiss, for example, for the horrible crimes he committed.
He knew his offences were not easy to forgive or forget but he was trying his best to makeup for his past behaviour, as little it made up for the past.
People didn't actually welcomed him with open arms, not that he expected all sunshies and rainbows but at least they were trying to behave as polite as they could. At least most if them were, he didn't expect idiots like Mclaggen to behave "nice" woth him, he scoffed at the thought of it.
He was horrified on why McGonagall would make him the head boy, after everything he did. It was something noone could figure out.
He wasn't complaining though, Granger was at least acquainted with him , after having to share a dormitory and patrol duties.
He knew he had to apologise to her at some point, he did say sorry to the Gryffindors whom he misbehaved, he'll he even apologised to Weasley and Potter, as awkward as it was, he was relieved they did accept his apology. He really didn't expect that from them, Weasley to be exact but he guessed the war had brought some brain in the ginger head. He felt bad for the loss of his brother, Fred, though he'd never in in his life admit it out loud, he liked the twins the most among all the weasleys. At least they had a good sense of humour.
After apologising to almost everyone he offended, he still couldn't find the galls to try and approach Granger for the apology and he full well knew why.
He knew what was coming and even if she did forgive him, he feared that she would think his apology was actuated by up coming future events when she found them.
He sighed.
Why did everything had to be so fucking complicated?
