A/n This is the final chapter. Thank you for all the love during this story, I'm so glad that people enjoyed it. It is a "bitty" final part, lots of small snapshots of different moments shortly after the last chapter. Figured it is a nice way to finish things off.

Enjoy, and thanks again!

A Colourful Future

Their wedding was slightly larger than the intimate affair they had planned but it was perfect. She thinks it is the first time she has seen him wearing a tie, and it was a brilliant shade that matched the blue of his eyes. His breath was taken away when he saw her in white, it was like up until that point it could have all been in his imagination, but it wasn't, and their day was quite simply wonderful.

William ultimately stole the show in his little three-piece suit that matched his father's. There were lots of "awws" from the guests at the sight of him with his mop of dark curls which his Auntie Grace attempted to tame with some hair product, but it didn't have much effect. He looked really cute though, and the photographs of the three of them will hold a special place on the mantelpiece at home forever.

They had around thirty guests in total, including their closest colleagues at the FBI and back from their CBI days, Lisbon's family and the Barsocky duo who were thrilled for their friend that he found love once more. Pete caught up with him the night before, a few of "the guys" went to have a drink at a bar whilst "the girls" went through some pre-wedding prep with the bride-to-be. The carny man pulled Jane to one side when Cho and Rigsby were having a heated conversation about their apparent different memories for the outcome of a particular case. "You know something Patrick..." Pete had begun, with an arm wrapped around the younger man. "Angie would have wanted this. She would have wanted you to find happiness again."

This was not a line of discussion that the mentalist was expecting and immediately he felt his throat dry up. "I know." He has thought about it - of course he has - and his deceased wife would have wanted him to move on. In fact, she would have been horrified about his quest for revenge, but that's a different matter entirely.

"You've got a good thing with Teresa and William. Don't screw it up."

"I'm not planning on." He played with his empty bottle on the bar somewhat nervously. "Before, I did what I had to do. For Angela and Charlotte, and myself I guess." It might be the first time he had verbally acknowledged his own needs during the tasking Red John case. "Now my life is dedicated to my wife-to-be and son."

"She is a good one, even if she is a cop."

This comment made Jane grin from ear to ear. "You are literally sat drinking with a bunch of FBI agents and ex cops." He glanced at his party of Cho and Rigsby (who were still arguing), Abbott and Wylie. Before the carny man could reply the consultant took pity on his newer colleagues, who looked perplexed by the debating happening besides them, and said, "I am sorry, but you are both wrong. It was Grace who subdued the suspect in that case, not either of you two."

"Are you sure?" The retired cop immediately furrowed his brow in addition to his question whilst his friend's expression went blank.

"You are really questioning my memory?" He cocked his head to the side, "Wow."

They didn't stay out late; in fact, he was crawling into bed at just gone eleven next to his partner who was already snoozing, so after planting a soft kiss to the corner of her mouth he joined her in the land of sleep.

Honeymoons aren't exactly the most romantic of getaways when you have a toddler in tow, so instead they took the opportunity to travel to places they would love to visit as a family. When they were drawing up ideas, Jane suggested popping to Cannon River in Washington where his wife and child briefly resided but when she wasn't keen, explaining that it was a part of her life that she'd rather not dwell on, they instead decided on going to Chicago so that he could see where she grew up before flying to California to return to the area where they first met and worked together.

In Chicago they frequented countless park areas because running around them seems to be one of William's favourite pastimes. They also stopped at the Aquarium where the young boy made fish sounds the whole way round, entertaining his parents to no end, and had a last-minute outing to the picturesque pier.

They even managed to largely avoid her family during their trip so that was another bonus.

California was a little different. They were in two minds whether they wanted to visit areas they spent a lot of their time when far too many of them carry such awful memories. Very quickly though they were almost forgotten thanks to the new memories they were creating with their son. He loved the beaches in particular and his father made him some awesome sandcastles.

The last thing they did before returning home was visit Alexandria Cemetery. The mentalist was worried that it would put a dampener on their trip but in reality it was much more uplifting than expected. He didn't have the usual feeling of dread at the pit of his stomach, it made him realise that he finally does have his closure.

It also led to some discussions with William about his late sister. It wasn't as difficult as he thought it would be, the young boy asked some quite funny questions like, "Did she like fish?" and "How many teddy bears did she have?". Lisbon watched her husband's eyes light up when he spoke about her, crinkling at the edges in delight as he animatedly answered any questions their child had. She just left them to it, observed the special moment but never once interjected. She didn't need to.

Spending quality time with his son made Jane come to the realisation about something, he wanted to do it more. On the flight back to Austin he first broached the subject of him becoming part time at work so he can concentrate more on being a father. It was an idea that shocked her at first, but she understood. "It would probably be best for everyone." He uttered and gave her hand a quick squeeze.

"Your terms say you have to work for the FBI for five years though. It has only been one."

"My contract doesn't say I have to work fulltime." He had winked to add to his point, making her chuckle with the shake of her head.

So that was that.

Jane wasn't expecting that particular Sunday to be any special. He went about his morning routine like usual, looked after William leaving Lisbon to have a lie in before preparing her coffee and breakfast for when she eventually awoke. Their relaxed breakfasts are one of the things he particular enjoys doing together, whilst their son plays with his toys or does some colouring.

Their conversations during these occurrences are usually quite trivial, and when the curly-haired man said, "What should we do with my old room?" He didn't think this instance would be any different.

It was though, very different, and when she replied with, "A new nursery?" He thought for a second his heart had stopped beating and that perhaps he misheard her, but when his eyes darted from his mug of tea towards his wife, he watched her rest a hand on her stomach whilst beaming.

"You're kidding me." He said through a big grin, whilst taking her hand in his from across the table. "You are…?"

"I am." Another child, a sibling for their son, he almost pinched himself to make sure he wasn't dreaming.

Maybe he went a little over the top in baby preparations, ensuring his child will have the best nursery he could create, it reminded her of his behaviour when he first returned from the island and discovered that he was a father. He may have his flaws, but Patrick Jane is a great dad, and would do anything for his children.

However, his wife did find the endless shopping expeditions to various baby stores very tiring. It was like going out with a hyperactive toddler… and their son. This may be the case but seeing the man she loves so content after witnessing him going through such anguish in the past, was a brilliant sight.

There is nothing either of them love more than their little family and the prospect of it expanding brought them immeasurable joy.

Emotions have been running high ever since her arrival. Tears after tears but all of them happy because now they feel like their family is complete. Emmeline Teresa Jane arrived at the sociable time of 2pm weighing seven pounds and three ounces, with blue eyes as bright as her father's and brother's. Both mother and baby are doing well, father is proud and over the moon whilst William - who has recently turned three - is very enthusiastic about having a baby sister.

The name debate was continual over the past few months, they didn't agree on much, but Jane was very keen for the little girl to have Teresa as a middle name because William's middle name is Patrick. "The circumstances were different!" Lisbon had protested over dinner one night. "I didn't know if I was ever going to see you again."

"Well I think Teresa is beautiful name." Was his response and it got him what he wanted.

She enjoyed this pregnancy much more than the last, it was stress free in comparison. It was nice having her husband dote on her and carry out any wishes. He likes to do anything to make her happy because she deserves nothing short of the best. Everything she has done for him, how she almost sacrificed everything, it is the least he could do. Not only that, but he also loves her, so much. "How are you feeling?" Jane asks with a soft, tired smile which she easily mirrors.

"Tired, sore, but okay." He runs a thumb over her knuckles soothingly and watches as she casts an eye towards her two children, Emmeline in a plastic crib at her bedside and William snoozing in the uncomfortable looking chair in the corner. The excitement of the day certainly exhausted him, firstly getting to spend time with Uncle Cho and then meeting his baby sibling for the first time. "He has been such a good boy." She comments, with a nod towards her son.

"Yes, he has." Both his parents are very proud of him, something they have expressed more than once since his arrival at the hospital. "I will take him home in a minute. Let you rest too."

"They said that they will discharge me first thing."

"I will be here."

"I know." Their fingers entwine lovingly as their daughter stirs slightly in her sleep, eliciting a squeak, that makes their hearts soar. They are so lucky. "Who knew we would end up here? After everything." Her voice is small, quiet, barely speaking above a whisper when she murmurs this, like she truly cannot believe it.

"A psychic." He joshes, in attempt to keep the mood light.

"There is no such thing." A grin is shared when she recalls a line that she has heard him say many times before. "It is much better doing all this not alone. I'm really excited about the future."

"I'm excited too. Things are going to be good, really good."

"They already are."
