I had died and now was to be reborn but before that could happen I had to make a few choices and make a character that I would be playing with for the foreseeable future.

Ok, for the first choice I can exclude Tokyo ghoul cuz fuck that. Pokemon is out because I was only with Pokemon for the first few seasons and remember next to nothing. Devil is a part-timer seems fun but would become boring too quickly. So by process of elimination, it has to be High school DxD. I would have preferred something easier and more streamlined like an option for fairy tail or one-piece as they seem like a world where you have a lot to do and can become op but also be left alone if you wanted it.

Holy shit that's a lot of options. Plus looking through them I can see that each one of them has two further options and of course, the last three are just there to troll as picking them just resets the choice and gives no further information.
Now to go through the picks, humans are out because I've been there and done that and no point trying to win a rigged lottery for the sacred gears. Elves are unknown to me but the options given to me are corrupted elves and house elves.
I know what house-elves are and so that's a no and I'm not taking a chance on anything that is 'corrupted'. With the yokai, I am given an option on western and eastern. This is the most intriguing choice so far as it refers to mythical humanoid creatures from western and eastern mythologies.
Holding off from making a decision on this, I check the Demon to see the option of Book of Solomon and realm of Cthulhu. Safe to say I'm not touching either because both are gonna be like playing in hard mode for starting as something everyone fears or hates.
The option for devil lets me pick 'Trueblood' and 'pureblood'. I'm guessing here but I'm pretty sure true blood refers to devils with any heritage as long as they hold the powers their ancestors held, this is mainly because I believe 'true' refers to the devil's nature of sins, lust, envy, etc because if the truth is being told devils would wish to add extra powers to themselves due to greed envy and lust and would do so via breeding out.
Thus making them true to their devil nature and Vali would be a prime example of this, born a devil and a human with the benefits of both. Pureblood would refer to those who only have devil heritage. To be honest, the devil is the most boring and constricting choice so far as it would put me in a corner as most paths would be locked to me.
Moving on Angel is even more constricting than the devil and is only being considered because fell is not an option and is just stated as a troll. I'm guessing I would have to pick an angel and do some stupid shit to fall.
The idea or choice of fallen is appealing due to Akeno and that I find fallen wings to look downright amazing. That however is not reasoning enough to pick it and holy lightning and all considered. After all, the holy element is effective against dark beings of darkness but a yokai is all rounded against all and can be specialized too. Plus I wanna pick this anyway and it's just an urge with no further reason so I'm gonna go with eastern yokai.

I was given no more choices and everything was back to being black. A blink later I was seeing a cutscene where I was being told a short story on my character's past and acquired skills.
5 minutes of cutscenes showed that my character was a dark-skinned Oni that was shunned by most because it only had 1 horn on the right side of its head and to Oni's 1 horn meant weakness and weaknesses were shunned.
My character, tired of being shunned, leaves for the mountain to train and to prove everyone wrong. He ends up succeeding in a way because he finds 'primordial strength' in himself. The strenght was to Oni's what Sengutsu was to Nekomatas. The only difference was that using such strength not only shortened one's life but also left one at death's door.
After the initial use of such power, he was left stranded in limbo and was reincarnated by a very familiar-looking devil. The devil in the cutscene was just a shadowy avatar and unidentified and left soon after reincarnating my character. This really pissed me off as this undid a lot of my plan for the future and just ruined my reasoning for not picking the devil race as I was one now already and not even pureblooded or true-blooded but a shitty reincarnated one.
Still, not all was bad as this meant that due to devils being immortal I would have less backlash from the primordial strength and would even heal faster too but again I don't know if the devil will appear later asking for my obedience or not.
On the other hand, the cutscene was still going so I paid attention to it as it was nearing its end. The last bit is shown in the cutscene showing a decent house in a town and then a bed with me waking up to see a letter on the bedside table. From there I was then in control of the Oni i.e I was now me.
The letter hinted at what I had done and pointed to some questions that I would have upon waking and casually stated the word I was slightly excited to see but also dreading. It directed me to use the uniform in the wardrobe and come to the campus. Of Kuoh town.
With the previous devil mysteriously reincarnating me and now that mysterious person asking me to come to Kuoh school campus meant it had to be Rias who reincarnated me as she was the one that usually did shit like this and she also needs help with the upcoming fight with Riser.
Wearing the enchanted uniform along with using the self-thought cosmetic majic I would for intents and purposes seem human to humans but would still be my Oni self to the supernatural.
As for the majic, well most Oni's can't do any sort of magic at all and some that can do it end up doing some bastardized version of it and even then it's really weak hence why people call oni magic done by oni's as majic to imply that oni's low intellect and so no capacity for magic. It a dumb thing and a way to be racist so you can expect it to be stupid and without reason.
