Chapter 17

"What the hell is this?" came an angry growl from the over seven foot ugly yellow horned demon as he and Angellus were interupted by a bright flash and the arrival of a half dozen people, all but one of them familiar to him and insignificant.

"School field trip," replied a sarcastic Harry, "we're touring disgusting underground lairs of egomaniacs."

Faith's snort of amusement echoed in the underground chamber as everyone else present was staring at Harry in various stages of shock or anger in the case of the Beast. Angellus too was looking at Harry with a little bit of anger, but also mixed in with fear recognizing the man who fought him off rather easily, and wondering just who he was. When the Beast's growls of anger started, only Harry and Faith who was already behind him ready to fight, remained where they were as the others all quickly began to back away from the obviously enraged demon.

"You think you can take me little wizard?" growled the Beast menacingly as everyone else subconciously held their breath not knowing what was going to happen, and wondering just what this wizard was truly capable of.

"I'm not taking you anywhere ...you're not my type," retorted a still unconcerned but prepared Harry as he watched the demon carefully.

The Beast ignored the sarcastic barbs and raised his hands intending to begin a ritual magic chant, but Harry was already reacting to the demon's movement and sent three consecutive reducto blasts in his direction to both distract him and test their efficiency. Two blasts impacted on the large demon's body causing no damage but giving him a solid push backwards disrupting him from beginning his chant, while the third blast aimed at the floor before him tore apart the stone in a loud explosion peppering him with rocks and dust particles that really seemed to piss him off. Harry didn't wait however for the dust to settle or the Beast to recover, and sent a pair of dark cutting curses before transfiguring two of the larger broken away stones into a pair of wolves that immediately lept at the large demon.

A small grunt from the Beast let him know his curses at least had a minimal effect, and he began sending more of the sectumsempra spell he learned from Half Blood Prince, hoping to keep the Beast occupied and on the defensive. He added in an occasional fire blast, ice spear, and various explosion hexes trying to see if anything would be more effective, but didn't think they were working very well. Luckily, the large demon was slow moving and relatively easy to target, and couldn't seem to collect himself to initiate an attack of his own so Harry just kept raining spells down on him ignoring the others who had all retreated to the very back walls behind him.

Harry soon heard a growing commotion behind him over the explosions of spells he was raining down on the Beast, and glanced back to see the group he brought fighting Angellus and with the exception of Faith losing badly. Seeing Angellus reminded Harry about common attacks used on vampires like the lumos solarum sunlight spell, and wondered how effective it would be on a demon too, but didn't want to kill Angelus or Lorne who were both types of demons. He yelled at them to let Angellus leave, and for Lorne too to leave if he didn't want to become collateral damage by his next set of spells more specifically tailored to demons.

Angellus had already used their distraction to take off down a tunnel away from the underground chamber, and Fred quickly helped Lorne do the same letting the rest look to him in shock at the so far effectiveness of his attacks. As he was turning back he noticed that Connor too quickly took off up the tunnel and out of the underground chamber leaving only Wesley, Gunn, and Faith behind to watch. His lapse in concentration however had cost him, and no sooner after turning back towards the Beast he was forced to duck a very heavy blow of the demon's arms as he was right in front of him.

After ducking the blow, and seeing up close the only minimal amount of damage he had actually inflicted upon the large and ugly horned demon, he apparated near Faith and began quickly launching more spells to push the Beast backwards and further away from the group and himself. He then closed his eyes and cast the lumos solarum sunlight spell, and was satisfied to hear the Beast's absolute shriek of pain for several seconds before he released the spell to see the damage it caused for himself. He was really pleased to find the Beast doubled over in pain with his hands over his eyes and his thick ugly yellow skin actually bubbling slightly as if badly burnt and sent a few piercing hexes wondering if the sunlight spell had actually softened his skin enough to be penetrated by his attacks.

The piercing hexes did slightly more damage, as did his follow up dark cutting curses but not enough to actually fell or seriously injure or incapacitate the demon. He noticed that the small group of three still watching had also been caught in his sunlight spell and quickly conjured three blindfolds around their heads to protect them from the next wave which he launched immediately afterwards. The prolonged series of shrieks from the demon were unsettling as Harry was not a fan of torture, but couldn't think of any other way to slay the Beast without completely depleting his magic reserves.

When he finally let up on the sunlight spell and approached the Beast hoping to end the fight with his sword, his violent thrashing made getting too close to him an impossibility and he decided he had one more trick to use on the ugly demon hoping it would work. Harry was unsure of the effectiveness of the spell as it was really only designed to fight dementors and lethifolds, but knew it to be a possitive light based spell that may work here as well. His shout of Expecto Patronum echoed loudly throughout the underground cavern, but didn't cover his own gasp of surprise as it wasn't Prongs who leaped out of his wand, but a corporeal Thestral that dove at the flailing demon and ran right through him, throwing the large demon onto his back, stunned and unable to move except for pain filled groans.

Harry quickly got over the shock of his new Patronus, and brought his trusty sword to bear on the Beast's exposed neck, cutting through it with a great deal of difficulty and resistance, but eventually managed as black ichor like blood poured out of the Beast's ugly yellow body. He turned around to tell the others that everything was alright, only to see them staring at him in wide eyed awe as he stood above the decapitated and dead body of the Beast panting a little heavily but otherwise unharmed. Harry then cast a quickl cleaning charm on his sword and clothes before sheathing his sword on his back where it disappeared to the eyes of those watching, and took a few steps away from the Beast before hitting it with his most powerful fire spell that slowly burned the no longer magically infused demon body to ash, and then banished the remains leaving no evidence that anything had occured.

"What the hell are you?" asked an awestruck Wesley, having never seen anyone as powerful as the green eyed man or someone who weilded magic as easily or quite like he did.

"I think the fact that I am a wizard has been mentioned already," replied Harry easily, and in good spirits that he had a chance to let loose a little with his magic without too much risk, and that he was successful putting down the threat.

"You're not like any Wiccan I've read about," responded Wes in confusion, still trying to understand this stranger, "and what was your name again?"

"Harry Potter at your service, and I am no Wiccan," continued Harry with a small bow of his head, followed by a cringe at the word Wiccan, which he hardly classified as real magic and more as ritual magic that while having potential was also very impractical and came from the earth's power not the users.

"Then where are you from?" continued Wes obviously getting frustrated by not knowing anything about this wizard who was capable of killing the Beast single handedly.

"How about we go somplace else to play twenty questions, this place is completely depressing," responded Harry, "we can also take care of your Angel/Angellus problem too."

Wesley tried to ask several more questions as the foursome left the underground chamber behind hoping to find the rest of their group, but Harry kept putting him off until they got somewhere a little more comfortable. It only took them a few minutes to find Connor, Lorne, and Fred who were all equally shocked to learn that Harry, the strange wizard, was able to defeat the Beast and was going to try and help them restore Angel's soul back at the Hyperion Hotel. Harry quickly said he would meet everyone there shortly, as he wanted to hop back to his hotel room for a shower, all the while giving Faith a meaningful look seemingly asking if she wanted to join him.

Faith merely growled in the back of her throat and narrowed her eyes at the arrogant yet powerful wizard, who just shrugged his shoulders and said "your loss" before literally disappearing on the spot with nothing more than a faint pop. The remaining group was again shocked almost speachless at this wizard's capabilities, and spent most of the walk back to the Hyperion discussing the things they had seen him do and trying to make sense of it all. Faith was the most conflicted, as she had in fact desperately wanted to join the wizard in his hotel room, but didn't want to cave in and give him the satisfaction that he was right, and was also conflicted about him as she was greatly attracted to him and the power he gave off but could do without his ego getting any larger.

Harry was very happy when he arrived back in his hotel penthouse suite, to find the setting sun peeking in the windows, the Beast's ritual magic abviously broken with his death. He quickly shed his clothes and jumped into a hot shower to wash away the sweat, grime, and demon blood that had gotten on him, always feeling cleaner after a real shower instead of just a spell. His good mood also came from the obvious breaking down of Faith's resistance to his advances, and even though she didn't join him this time, there would be plenty more opportunities. He was a little surprised about how forward he was with her, but for some reason just thought that was what would turn her on and get her interested.

After getting dressed, and knowing he had given the others plenty of time to get back to the Hyperion, Harry focused on his tracking charm connected to Angellus and apparated to his location. Had he not been thinking about getting to see Faith again, he probably would have been paying more attention to where he would be apparating and not appeared in the midst of a very crowded vampire bar. He only had a brief moment of shocked silence as dozens of hungry demon vampire eyes turned towards him before one of them made a move.

Harry infused his body with magic as quickly as he could, and just managed to avoid a lunging vampire by spinning away from him and drawing his sword in the same motion, sweeping it in front of his body and taking off the head of the second lunging vampire. He then apparated away to a corner of the bar to keep all the vampires in front of him, and killed two more before any of them noticed where he was. He did manage to lock eyes with Angellus who immediately fled in the other direction when he saw him, and Harry let him go for now knowing he could do something very helpful by killing the soulless demon class vampires, and it would be infinitely easier if Angellus wasn't present.

He continued using his sword to cut down the more aggressive ones and made sure Angellus was long gone before drawing his wand and casting the lumos solarum sunlight spell. Instantly the bar was filled with painfilled shrieks that only lasted a few seconds before the noise level dropped completely and Harry followed with cancelling the spell and opening his own eyes. There wasn't a single body in sight any where in the bar, and the floor was simply filled with ash and dust as every remaining demon class vampire was destroyed leaving the place earily silent.

Not wanting to waste a good opportunity, and knowing that it wouldn't be missed, Harry enlarged and opened one of his trunks and loaded all the bar's stock of alcohol into it along with any jewelry or items of value left behind by the many vampires. He left out one really nice bottle of old scotch that he took a long pull form before tapping the bottle and making it unbreakable before pocketing it and once again focusing on Angellus' tracking charm before disapparating. He appeared behind the vampire in a secluded alley that had a good view of the vampire bar's entrance, and surprised his target who spun at the small noise of displaced air upon his arrival.

"How are you following me?" demanded the enraged and also fearful Angellus who had heard the death screams of those in the bar moments before.

"Trade secret," smirked harry, and before Angellus could flee again, appeared at his side and punched him hard in the gut dropping him to his knees.

Harry then hit Angellus with a point blank stunning spell knocking him out and then conjuring unbreakable ropes to bind him for transport. After tossing the bound and unconscious vampire over one shoulder he thought about the Hyperion Hotel, and then disapparated with a slight pop. They reappeared inside the Hyperion's main lobby that had been converted into the front office and waiting area of Angel Investigations, to the shocked surprise of several people including those Harry met earlier.
