Having been the black sheep of their family, they decided to say standards are for chumps and went into SAO. When they were trapped, and their appearance was changed, the elected to hide. So, they became a myth in the game, a story to scare the other players: The Shadow of Aincrad. (In actuality, they weren't scary, just very intimidating.)

They had broken up 2 years ago after a argument. It lead them both to depression. They still had their daughter, Yui a 4 year old perfect little angel who spent the week days at Asuna's and the weekends at Kazuto's.

A few weeks have passed since Takeshi and Mitsuko haven't returned from another world. Ryu and Yumi head to the world to find them. They discovered a game called SAO.
