The Charlie Conundrum

Loki looked at his latest test subject; this Tyler Charles O'Neill showed great potential to solve the Asgard's cloning issues.

He decided that he would keep this test subject for longer than normal and also to see if imprinting this test subject with the ancient repository in the hope he could supply the data the Asgard had long sought.

Little did Loki know that while he had the original, the clone place holder had found the originals father's gun and shot itself, dying instantly.

Two years later Loki decided to finally return the test subject only to discover that his clone place holder had died sometime in the previous two years.

Not knowing what to do Loki put a block on the test subject's memory and beamed it to Las Vegas where he was sure somebody would take care of the child.

What Loki didn't know was that because of Charlie's unique genetic structure and his tampering Charlie had retained a considerable amount of knowledge from the Ancient Repository of knowledge.

Sandy Villier looked at the boy who had been found wondering the streets of Los Vegas late at night.

At first the police had thought a frantic parent would come looking for the child but when that didn't happen they transferred the child over to the Nevada Department of Health & Human Services, a Division of Child & Family Services.

Sandy had been given the case and so far she had been unable to get the child to talk.

She knew next to nothing about him except for the fact he was around ten years of age and a male Caucasian.

Sandy decided to leave the child in the interview room with some paper and pencils in the hope he might draw or write something that could help them identify him or his neglectful parents.

Once Sandy had left to check to see if there were any updates on a missing ten year old boy Charlie picked up the drawing pad and started writing complex mathematical formulas and then started drawing detailed engineering schematics.

When Sandy returned she was stunned by what the child had written and drawn.

She suspected that he was some sort of savant a child genius, which might explain his lack of communication skills, but not the fact that that he hadn't been claimed by a worried parent.

She decided to take a copy of what the child had written to show her husband.

Tony Villiers looked at the copies of the maths and engineering drawings done by a child in his wives care.

It looked very advanced to him but he was a geology professor so he decided to show what he had to a colleague Jeff Mortensen who had joined the University of Nevada, Reno campus.

When Jeff Mortensen was shown the child's writing he was stunned.

It took him hours to work out that the quadratic functions the child had written were base eight maths.

The detailed engineering schematics were equally perplexing.

So much so that Jeff decided to contact an associate of his in the Airforce a Captain Samantha Carter to get her to look at what the child had drawn.

In the meantime Jeff asked Sandy Villiers if he could give the child some IQ tests to see if they could gauge his intelligence quotient.

Jeff Mortensen looked at the results of the latest intelligence quotient tests on the child in disbelief.

On all five tests the child had tested out with intelligence quotient's over four hundred with the last test being over five hundred.

These intelligence quotient scores should be impossible.

He had originally thought that the child was a savant but the intelligence quotient tests proved otherwise.

The breadth of the child's knowledge crossed every field of endeavour, no the child wasn't a savant.

He was a hyper genius!

It was almost as if somebody had downloaded the sum knowledge of an advanced alien race into the child.

But that too wasn't possible as the child possessed knowledge of Earth's history that would put most history professors to shame.

Jeff wondered if the child was some kind of experimental test subject that had escaped from Area 51 that was nearby but that was ridiculous as if the government had this sort of knowledge the USA would be way more advanced than it was.

He was now regretting contacting Samantha Carter but you can't cry over spilt milk and perhaps her connections could find out who the boy was.

Captain Samantha Carter was reading her emails and was surprised to have received one from an acquaintance, Jeff Mortensen.

What she read intrigued her.

The data that Jeff had supplied blew her mind and if what she read was correct than this unnamed child was developing technologies that were centuries ahead of what the earth possessed.

Sam decided that she would go and meet the child, as she didn't have a lot of work at present.

After all the technicians and data input operators were busy imputing the stargate addresses from the Abydos cartouche and the computers could only calculate the stellar drift of each individual address once a week.

They had only just returned from Abydos with Daniel Jackson and his wife Sha're.

Sha're was distraught that her beloved brother Skaara had been taken by the Goa'uld and she might have been taken as well had she not insisted in accompanying Daniel and the rest of the team to the Abydos cartouche room.

With Colonel O'Neill busy planning the recovery mission to the address Ferretti revealed when he regained consciousness.

With all this in mind Captain Samantha Carter goes to see General Hammond to get permission to visit the genius child Jeff Mortensen advised her of.

The child they now knew as Charlie fascinated Samantha Carter.

The Nevada Department of Health & Human Services case worker Sandy Villiers had supplied the child with all the writing and drawing materials the child had wanted.

On one of the sketch books the child had written the name Charlie and everybody involved assumed that this was the child's name and that he might just be coming out of whatever psychological trauma had caused him to stop communicating or to remember who he was.

As Sam was reading the latest musings of the child she thought she recognised him from somewhere.

She just couldn't place who Charlie reminded her of but she suspected that the person was military.

Sam approached Sandy Villiers and mentioned that Charlie reminded her of somebody she had met in the military and asked if she could get a DNA sample to compare it to the military database.

Nobody knew that when the results came back they would have mind-blowing revelations for the stargate program and everybody involved.

Doctor Captain Janet Fraiser reviewed the results of the DNA test that Captain Carter had asked her to run.

The results had surprised her so much that she had insisted that they be rerun three more times.

The results had come back the same; the child in the care of the Nevada Department of Health & Human Services was Colonel O'Neill's son.

And that was when things got really strange.

Accessing Colonel O'Neill's personnel and medical records showed that Colonel O'Neill had one son, Tyler Charles O'Neill and that the child was deceased.

Deciding something fishy was going on Doctor Fraiser collected her results and the photograph of the child in question and went to make her report to General Hammond.

To solve this mystery they would have to exhume the grave of the deceased Tyler Charles O'Neill and compare it to the living one.

Regardless of the outcome Colonel O'Neill would probably insist on gaining custody of his son and his ex-wife would most likely have to be briefed into the program as well.

Major General George Hammond listened to the report from Doctor Fraiser about O'Neill's son still being alive.

He summoned Captain Carter so he could get her view on the situation.

After a lengthy discussion it was decided that Samantha Carter and Janet Fraiser would travel to Las Vegas and collect the child.

He would contact President Clinton to clear all the bureaucratic red tape.

Sandy Villiers looked at the documents and then at the two airforce officers.

The documentation was in order and they claimed to know who the parents of the child were but wouldn't tell her.

Yet she had no real choice the state governor had ordered Child & Family Services to release the child into the care of the airforce and she couldn't really say that they couldn't care for the child.

They had a government jet waiting for them and one of the officers sent to collect Charlie was a fully qualified doctor of medicine.

But she couldn't help but think something else was going on.

Samantha Carter couldn't stand not telling Colonel O'Neill that his son was alive but both she and Janet Fraiser had their orders.

No one was to be informed until a genetic comparison had been done on the dead Charlie and the live one.

Only one thing that pleased Sam about the current situation was that she got to spend nearly every waking moment with Charlie and what she was learning was mind numbing.

Sam had got Charlie a lap top and before she knew what was happening Charlie was typing away filling the hard drive with technical schematics and other data that would take teams of trained scientists and engineers years to study.

She had a briefing with General Hammond tomorrow and he would be surprised by her recommendation that the stargate program cease offworld exploration only going to worlds for resources so that they could implement the introduction of the technologies that Charlie was so freely providing them.

She was sure that Daniel and Jack would hate it but time was required to introduce the new technologies.

Once the Earth was safe then they could take the war to the Goa'uld System Lords.

Sara O'Neill was approaching her son's grave when she notices activity near it.

At first she thought that it was one of the nearby graves being prepared for another burial when she noticed that it was an Airforce Mortuary Affairs unit and her son's grave was being opened.

Her first thought was that Jack must have died and requested to be buried here instead of Arlington National Cemetery.

But then she saw that it was Charlie's coffin that was being lifted out of the grave.

Incensed she stormed up to the officer in charge and demanded to know what was going on.

To her surprise the man said, "Mrs O'Neill, we tried to contact you.

You need to come with your son's body and us.

The general will explain everything when we arrive."

With this said two non-commissioned officers escorted her to a waiting car and then the truck carrying her Charlie followed behind."

Colonel Jack O'Neill was walking towards General Hammond's office when he noticed his ex-wife Sara being escorted into Stargate Command.

He was about to ask what was going on when General Hammond exited his office and noticing Jack said, "Colonel O'Neill please escort Sara to the main briefing room where everything will be explained once she had signed the non-disclosure agreement."

With this said General Hammond left to visit Janet Fraiser to find out how long the genetic testing of the deceased Charlie O'Neill will take.

Jack O'Neill and his ex-wife sat in the main briefing room for more than an hour.

The small talk had shrivelled up and died long ago.

Now an awkward silence set in between the pair.

Jack was starting to wonder what the general was doing and an ominously silent Sara wasn't a good thing as he had learnt from all the years he had been married to her.

He was just about to get up and find General Hammond when the door opened and in walked Daniel Jackson and his wife Sha're.

Before Daniel could comment on the awkward silence or the fact that Jack's ex-wife Sara was in the main briefing room Samantha Carter then entered and sat down with her laptop.

After what seemed an eternity General Hammond walked into the briefing room and went straight up to Sara O'Neill placing a non-disclosure form and a pen before her.

He then took his seat at the head of the table and said, "Sara O'Neill, if you want to know why we exhumed your son's body and why you are here sign the forms, otherwise you will be escorted to the surface and you will never know what has been happening."

Sara O'Neill looked at the stern faced general and the baffled look on her former husband's face.

With a sigh she picked up the pen and signed the non-disclosure forms before passing them back to the general.

After General Hammond had examined the forms to ensure that they had been filled in correctly he began, "About a month ago a male Caucasian child around ten years of age was found roaming the streets of Las Vegas.

The child was unable to communicate and had no identification on him so the elderly couple who found him took him to the police.

When nobody came forward looking for the child after twenty four hours the Las Vegas police turned the child over to the care of the Nevada Child & Family Services.

While in their care the child displayed extra ordinary intelligence writing complex mathematical formulas and then started drawing detailed engineering schematics.

This information was brought to the attention of the University of Nevada.

There a Doctor Jeff Mortensen an acquaintance of Captain Samantha Carter performed intelligence quotient tests on the child.

What was discovered was that the child had an intelligence quotient of between four and five hundred across nearly every field of endeavour.

The only thing dropping his intelligence quotient was his apparent inability to communicate.

On the sketchpad that he drew the detailed engineering schematics he had written the name Charlie.

When Samantha Carter went to see the boy he reminded her of somebody so she asked permission to have DNA tests done in the hope a match could be found in the military DNA database.

This was done and the DNA tests confirmed that he was the son of Colonel Jack O'Neill."

Both Sara and Jack O'Neill gasped at this before General Hammond continued, "This raised questions as Colonel O'Neill's records showed that his son Charlie had died as a result of him playing with Colonel O'Neill's service weapon.

Hence why we required the child's body to be exhumed so that a DNA comparison could be done.

To date the child still hasn't spoken or communicated in any way apart from writing complex mathematical formulas and drawing detailed engineering schematics."

Before General Hammond could continue there was a knock on the door and

Doctor Janet Fraiser entered the room and said, "General we have the results of the DNA comparison between the two Tyler Charles O'Neill's."

Looking at General Hammond he nodded for her to continue, "General there are slight genetic abnormalities in the deceased child, these abnormalities could only be caused one way by cloning the original.

I have no idea how it happened, as we simply don't possess the medical technology to be able to clone the full human genome.

The ability to clone a person is simply beyond the realms of human technology."

Sara O'Neill looked up at this phrase and saw that nobody else at the conference table seemed surprised by this conclusion and she suspected that they have or had contact with extra-terrestrial civilisations.

But this didn't concern her all she wanted was to see her son.

Standing Sara O'Neill stared at General Hammond and said in a cold voice, "General Hammond I want to see my son now!"

General Hammond merely looked at Janet Fraiser and said, "Doctor Fraiser please take Sara and Colonel O'Neill to see their son perhaps seeing them will trigger his ability to communicate."

With this said Sara and Jack O'Neill followed Doctor Fraiser to where Charlie was still undergoing evaluation.

When they reached Charlie's room Sara immediately ran to her son an enveloped him in a hug with Jack not far behind.

But both parents noticed that apart from a smile Charlie didn't really respond and returned to what he was typing on the laptop.

It was then that Jack noticed all the external hard drives the room contained.

General Hammond had quietly followed them into the room and said, "That smile was the most emotive response we've got yet from Charlie.

It appears that the only way he can express himself at present is by what he types and designs.

We are patenting everything he designs in his name and the US government is going to licence it.

If half of what he had designed to date is put to use Charlie will be a multi-billionaire by the time he's twelve."

Sara O'Neill turned to General Hammond and said, "I want to take him home!"

General Hammond replied, "That is not really possible at present.

Remember officially he is dead and bringing him back to life is a time consuming process.

We have a cover story that we think will work but putting all the documentation in place takes time.

The cover story is that you had twins but were told one died at birth.

The second twin was taken by a nurse who had lost her own child so she thought taking one of yours would solve her own issue.

The cover story is still being worked on but I will compromise.

How about you and Charlie go home with Jack for the night.

We can have protection in place and then you all come back tomorrow morning.

Perhaps as you spend more time with Charlie he might respond and communicate more.

Charlie is a priceless national treasure and needs to be protected."

Later that night Jack and Sara watched as Charlie typed away on Jack's computer.

Jack had to call Sam to bring more external hard drives as Charlie was close to filling his internal hard drive.

When Charlie finally showed signs of tiring Sara put him to bed and then went back to Jack to discuss what they would do.

It was apparent that Charlie needed special supervision that could only come from the government.

Sara was surprised when Jack suggested that he get her a job at Stargate Command a job that would involve caring for and supervising Charlie.

Sara was stunned by the suggestion for a moment and then threw herself into Jack's arms and planted a huge sloppy kiss on his lips.

Jack was amazed by Sara's response and responded to her kiss.

Before either of them knew what was happening Jack was carrying Sara into a bedroom they had shared many nights together in.

When Jack woke at his customary 5:30am he was surprised to find a naked

Sara beside him.

Then he remembered what had happened after Charlie had going to bed.

He was about to check on his son when he heard a noise from the bedroom floor and turning on the light he saw Charlie smiling at him as he typed away on the laptop.

Sara stirred then and she too remembered what she and Jack had done the night before.

She was about to get out of bed when Jack said, "Sara you might want to keep covered we have a visitor on the floor in front of the bed."

Sara pulled the sheet up and off the bed and used it as a rap then she peered over the bed to a grinning Charlie who wrote on a large sketchpad, "reproduction through cellular meiosis is approved for parental units."

Sara gasped when she read what Charlie had written.

A ten-year-old shouldn't know about sex let alone using scientific terms for what his parents had done.

At least Sara thought that Charlie still thought that she and Jack were still together.

She didn't want to break it to him that she and Jack were no longer a couple so perhaps she needs to talk to Jack to see if they could patch things up if for no other reason than to give Charlie a stable home.

The next day SG-1 gathered in the briefing room and when General Hammond entered he said, "I have an announcement Ladies and Gentlemen.

Last night the president decided that due to the font of knowledge coming from Charlie O'Neill the decision was made to cease all missions through the stargate with the exception of those acquiring strategic resources for the development of the new technologies.

Many of Charlie's detailed engineering schematics have already been provided to industries that would be best able to exploit the knowledge quickly.

Westinghouse is already working on a controlled fusion reactor and phased plasma rifles while Intel are working on the crystal based neural net processor."

Seeing Daniel about to object General Hammond continued, "The rescue mission that Colonel O'Neill had planned has been scrapped the president has decided that the loss of our service personnel isn't worth a war we are ill prepared for.

There is one further announcement that needs to be made the stargate resource collection program will be run out of Peterson Airforce base from a specially built facility that started construction today.

When that is completed the stargate will be moved to that facility and Brigadier General Jack O'Neill will run the resource collection program.

General O'Neill will continue to report to me as the overall commander of the stargate program.

All research and development programs will continue to be based here at the Cheyenne Mountain complex.

Furthermore due to the complex situation we find ourselves in regarding Charlie O'Neill his mother Sara will be employed as his full time care giver and support structure.

Charlie will be home schooled from this location but seeing the knowledge he already possesses it is likely Charlie will skip high school entirely and go directly to tertiary level studies."

After General Hammond finished there was stunned silence before opinions and questions started being shouted at him.

Once quiet was restored General Hammond replied to the questions by stating that only approved locations will be contacted by stargate command and Charlie O'Neill had apparently already supplied the locations of the strategic resources that the program would require.

One of those locations was Abydos which would get the same level of protection as the Earth stargate and the United States once the USA's own defences were in place.

Jack O'Neill watched as his son typed away on the laptop.

To him it seemed unnatural that Charlie showed so little interest in the things boys his own age cared about.

More concerning was Charlie's near total lack of interest in baseball a sport he used to play with a passion.

Even while they were eating dinner Charlie had the laptop next to him with him continuing to type one handed.

Sara was starting to clear the table of her and Jack's dishes when Charlie suddenly spoke causing Sara to drop the dishes.

Charlie said to Jack, "Dad I will occasionally give you special stargate addresses that a team will need to visit.

At the destination the team will have to recover certain individuals and objects that will be important for the future."

With this said Jack was handed a piece of paper with two stargate addresses and the times and dates that his exploration teams needed to be there.

Jack didn't like taking instructions from a ten-year-old but he decided to talk this over with General Hammond.

General Hammond was concerned that a ten-year-old was giving them instructions of things they had to do.

He had run the request up the line and was surprised by the answer he received.

The president had decided that if the source of all the advanced knowledge needed things done that it was in the USA's best interests to do so lest Charlie stop supplying the advanced knowledge and technical schematics because his requirements weren't being met.

Apophis wondered what had happened since his previous visits to the first world and Abydos.

His follow up attempts to send more Jaffa to these worlds had met with failure.

He thought about sending ships to these worlds but decided that it was better to use his valuable fleet securing as much of Ra's domains as he could.

After all the Abydonians were peasant slaves that posed no risk.

While the first world did pose a small risk but they had no interstellar capable ships and nothing that could harm his.

Apophis decided that he could afford to wait a few years while he consolidated his gains and then he would deal with the Tau'ri.

The Tau'ri simply couldn't advance enough in a few scant years to the point where an attack on them would be dangerous.

Brigadier General Jack O'Neill didn't know what Charlie was playing at.

The first world on the list of stargate addresses he had supplied had only one survivor a girl called Cassandra.

She started exhibiting strange reactions to the stargate and was quickly taken to Cheyenne Mountain for medical evaluation.

This was when the second shock occurred Charlie walked into the infirmary and right up to the girl Cassandra.

Then he placed his hand on her left breast right above her heart.

Then before the astonished eyes of Doctor Fraiser and Sara Charlie's hand started to glow.

Then he removed his hand from Cassandra's breast and said, "She is all better now!"

Before turning on his heels and walking straight back to his laboratory.

Cassandra was too surprised that a strange boy had simply walked up to her and placed his hand on her breast to be indignant at his actions.

Then his hand began to glow.

She didn't know what to make of this action, as it had to be god magic.

Once he had done whatever it was he was doing the boy simply turned and walked away.

Cassandra didn't know what to think of her situation but one thought that passed through her mind was the departing boy was kind of cute.

Back in his laboratory Charlie O'Neill thought about Cassandra's pliant mound of tissue that he had rested his hand on.

He had found this touch strangely stimulating.

Charlie decided that he would have to study this phenomenon in greater detail.

Sara observed her son's faintly distracted look on his face.

If she didn't know any better than it might be that the feel of the girl's breast had triggered a response in Charlie's hyperactive brain.

After considering the matter Sara decided to talk to Jack tonight.

It was probably time for Jack to have the "talk" with Charlie.

Sara was sure that Charlie knew the purpose of reproduction through cellular meiosis but knowing the function of sexual reproduction is not really the same as performing the act or being in a relationship.

It was the latter that she suspected that Charlie might struggle with.

And this was where she and Jack as his parents would be needed to provide guidance and support.

Puberty for a normal child is difficult enough but for a child like Charlie it would be several orders of magnitude greater.

Sara just wished she knew what had happened to Charlie in those two missing years.

Brigadier General Jack O'Neill wondered if Charlie would ever give them a stargate address that wasn't strange.

First was the world of the dead with only one child remaining and now volcano world.

The survivors of that cataclysm had been taken to the high security infirmary at Cheyenne Mountain.

General Hammond was getting annoyed at the condescending attitude of these Tollan yet Charlie had advised him that in a couple of days they would be sent to the Nox who would take them to their new homeworld.

This response left more questions than answers like who were the Nox and how did Charlie know of them?

Still Charlie hadn't steered them wrong yet so General Hammond would go along with Charlie's suggestions not that he really had a choice as the president had ordered Charlie be listened too.

Omac was surprised by these Tau'ri they were a strange mix of primitive and advanced technologies.

It was as if they were undergoing a technological renaissance.

The guard that followed him had a projectile weapon on his hip but a highly advanced focused plasma weapon that used phased shifting technology like his people's ion cannons did was carried in his back.

He was then taken into a laboratory where a boy not older than eleven had highly advanced quadratic functions on one large screen while designing what appeared to be a powerful warship on another.

Omac stared at the complex equations on the main screen in Charlie's laboratory wondering what the hell it meant when before he could ask any questions Charlie said, "You wouldn't understand."

Then he continues by saying, "Tomorrow you will be sent to the Nox homeworld and they will see that you are returned home."

The genius child then turns his back on Omac dismissively and Omac is returned to his quarters.

Captain Samantha Carter studied the design of the starship Charlie O'Neill was designing.

She then looked at Charlie and asked, "Why does it have three star drives?"

Charlie smiled at her and said, "The space fold drive unit is the longest ranged and fastest but needs precise twelve dimensional vectors from central zero.

The hyperdrive is slower but doesn't need the same level of precision.

The sublight ion drives are for in system travel where it would be unfeasible to use the faster hyper or space fold drives."

Sam just shook her head at the explanation even her genius level intelligence was nothing in comparison to that of Charlie O'Neill.

He truly was a new level of intelligence and even though the USA was reproducing the technology it was still done by wrought.

She doubted that anybody apart from Charlie knew the principles behind much of the technologies that Charlie had provided them.

Not that the politicians would care.

They would take the credit for the benefits provided by the new technologies and let the scientists and engineers work out the principles behind them later.

Sam was sure that what she was studying she would soon master.

The problem was that Charlie was creating so many differing technologies that it would take many lifetimes to master the basic scientific principles behind them all.

The rest of the world watched as the USA's technological renaissance as it surged ahead of all the other countries on the earth.

This technological renaissance also caused a massive shift in the trade imbalance as markets that the USA had lost over the previous decades were regained almost overnight as none of the other countries on the earth could match the USA's technological progression.

The best they could do was steal the plans for the USA's new technologies and make rip offs of the US products.

The problem was that the USA was producing these products now and even with rushed refits it would take a year or two to get their own versions out on the market.

It was an unfortunate axiom the technology breeds technology and by the time the rip offs were ready the USA would most likely be selling second and third generation technologies based off the first generation.

Samantha Carter looked over the final design and thought that Brigadier

General O'Neill would really love it as it was covered in big honking space guns and this design had forty eight of them.

The part Jack won't like is that it will be built and operated by the navy.

There was no way that the US government could hide a space ship this size as it was two kilometres long and six hundred metres wide not counting the detachable out rigger flight pods.

Since it was so large the US government didn't even try to hide its construction.

At first nobody picked up that something strange was being built at the Newport News shipyard but then it was noticed the new dry docks that were ten times the size of the existing ones had been built.

The detachable flight pods could be built elsewhere and attached later.

While the governments in the know laughed at the new US Navy construct as it would be impossible to manoeuvre the gigantic vessel.

More concerning to them was the super secret F-35 program that had seemingly come out of nowhere.

It was making use of all the new technologies that the USA had developed.

But what concerned most countries was the fact that the US government had ordered five thousand of these fighters before even the first prototype had flown.

Sara O'Neill had noticed that Charlie and Cassandra Fraiser had been spending a lot of time in his laboratory.

While she liked the fact that Cassie got Charlie to do other things other than work she was concerned that their friendship might go further.

Sure at present he was helping Cassie with her homework and she was bringing him out of his shell.

But Charlie was far from a normal boy.

He had just completed his sixth doctoral dissertation and if the excitement of the first five were anything to go by number six would be a cakewalk.

Jack O'Neill was trying to do the birds and the bees talk with Charlie but it was becoming difficult.

Charlie probably knew more about sexual reproduction in the technical sense then most professors in the field.

No the talk had started becoming awkward when Charlie started asking questions as to why it was done what it was like and how enjoyable it was.

Jack was starting to get flustered and thought for a moment that it might be easier if he took Charlie to a local hooker and told her to return him as a man.

While this would be easier for him he was sure that Sara would have a fit and his balls would decorate her rear view mirror if he even contemplated this option.

Maybe he could throw some money at Cassie and just let nature take its course.

The Tollan Curia were debating what they should do about the Tau'ri.

The Tau'ri had come into possession of technical knowledge far in advance of that of the Tollan and this concerned them greatly.

If the Tau'ri were not assisted in the correct direction then they might make the same mistake that the Saritans made and destroy themselves before they had the chance to mature as a civilisation.

After a lengthy debate and a referendum of the people it was decided to make contact again with the Tau'ri and start diplomatic and trade relations.

While the finished goods would be inferior to those produced by the Tollan, the Tollan Curia was sure that the Tau'ri had technology that was more advanced than they possessed.

The United Nations objected to the United States of America over the launch of dozens of satellites into high earth orbit.

Their concern was that the USA refused to advise what the purpose of this satellite network was for.

North Korea, China and Russia all stated that if the satellites come within range of their ASAT programs these satellites would be shot down without further warning.

Charlie O'Neill loved the satellite defence grid that now orbited the Earth.

Senator Kinsey's dirt files had enabled him to get congress to vote for the hundreds of billions of dollars that were required to get the satellites built and launched in a timely matter.

It was unfortunate that Senator Robert Kinsey and his wife died in a mysterious house fire shortly after he used the dirt files.

But as the saying goes you can't make an omelette without breaking a few eggs.

Word had finally broken as to who was behind all the US governments technological breakthroughs.

Though everybody now knew of Tyler Charles O'Neill, but actually contacting him or seeing him was virtually impossible.

Charlie now lived in an estate outside of Colorado Springs with security systems that put Fort Knox to shame.

Many abduction attempts had failed with the loss of all involved.

Most governments eventually decided that it was too difficult to acquire the source of this technology so it was easier to simply buy or steal it from third parties.

Sara O'Neill felt her son run up to her through the snow and grab her from behind.

She squawked when he placed his cold hand under her jumper.

What Sara didn't know was that while Charlie's hand was on her stomach it had glowed and solved her fertility issues.

Charlie knew that she wanted more children and now she and Jack could have them.

He hoped they liked the surprise when they discovered the change.

Charlie had just removed his hand from his mother's stomach when Cassie threw another snowball at him.

He quickly made his own and propelled it at Cassie with pinpoint precision.

Cassandra Fraiser frowned as yet another of her so called friends flirted with Charlie at her birthday party.

Sure Charlie was the only boy invited but that wasn't the point.

Since Charlie's true identity became public every girl who even knew him slightly fawned over his every action.

Cassie didn't care if Charlie had solved her Rubik's cube in 2.3 seconds it still didn't give her girlfriends the right to hug Charlie the way they did.

Charlie was hers and they shouldn't be pressing their breasts against him like that.

Cassie wondered if perhaps it was time she went the distance with Charlie just to let him know what he could expect to get in a relationship with her.

Ambassador Narim of the Tollan walked with the child genius and his girlfriend Cassie as they toured the defences of Cheyenne Mountain.

They came up to one of the massive proton rams that had been constructed.

Narim watched as Charlie patted the massive weapon and said, "The proton ram can do an Asgard Biliskner class mothership in two salvoes.

There are fifty of these weapons strategically placed around the United States with a hundred and fifty more in geosynchronous orbit to deal with any threats out of sight of the United States."

Narim committed this data to memory.

His own people's ion cannons even if all fired at once wouldn't have that kind of effect on an Asgard Biliskner class mothership.

This was just another example of just how far the Tau'ri had progressed since Charlie O'Neill's intervention.

Loki had decided that he needed more genetic material to complete his new and improved clone.

As Loki dropped his Asgard science vessel out of hyper speed and into orbit of the first world of humanity he realised he had made a grave mistake.

His ship was immediately targeted by no fewer than one hundred and fifty orbital weapon platforms with another fifty on the ground tracking his vessel.

Loki did the only logical thing and immediately put his aging Asgard science vessel back into hyper speed and fled the Tau'ri home star system.

As he fled Loki realised that he had made a grave error in judgement first in the genetic manipulation of the subject's genome activating more dormant genes.

His second error had been returning the boy who had managed to retain quite a bit of Alteran knowledge from that repository.

Loki wondered what he could do now.

He could hardly go to the Asgard High Council and tell them his illegal experiments had unforeseen consequences in that he had accidentally advanced the fifth race by millennia in a few scant years.

But Loki did have one ace up his sleeve.

His new clone body was more robust than the original and should buy the

Asgard time.

He will wait to tell the Asgard High Council of this development until they are desperate enough to accept his actions without any sanction.

Charlie O'Neill watched the reports of the alien ship that had been detected.

He was sure that it was the little grey bastard that had abducted him in the first place.

It was a pity he didn't get to test his orbital defence network on the little grey bastard.

Perhaps next time he'll have better luck.

Charlie then looked at the other monitor and watched Cassie frolicking in the shallow end of the pool in her little yellow polka dot bikini.

He noticed that her breasts bounced in an intriguing manner and he wondered if he could convince her to remove her Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikini for him.

Well he had better head back to the pool as he had told Cassie he was having a toilet break.

At least he didn't have to worry about his mother catching them if his plans came to fruition.

He had convinced her that they were old enough to be by themselves while she and Jack went on a picnic and Janet Fraiser had the shift at Cheyenne Mountain.

Charlie O'Neill ran his hands over the soft pliant body of Cassie Fraiser and smiled as he heard her sigh softly under his touch.

Cassie had just given him the best fourteenth birthday present ever.

Being with Cassie had been an amazing experience one he wanted to continue as often as possible.

He would have to make contingency plans so that his fun times could continue.

Little did Charlie O'Neill know was that at that exactly same time his father was doing the same thing to his mother.

Not that this would have bothered Charlie as it kept his mother occupied and out of his hair for his other plans.

Elsewhere in the galaxy the Tau'ri had been completely forgotten.

The reappearance of Anubis had caused a massive shift in Goa'uld politics.

The major system lords had banded together and fought Anubis to a standstill.

Even with Anubis' advanced technologies he couldn't quickly defeat the unified forces of the Goa'uld System Lords.

There was only one exception to this rule; Ba'al had broken ranks and sided with Anubis in the hopes of gaining Anubis' advanced technologies and once Anubis was defeated he would cut a deal with the remaining Goa'uld System Lords.

Brigadier General Jack O'Neill watched as Charlie's latest inventions walked through the stargate to a world rich in neutronium.

Jack had a sudden sense of fear run down his spine as the ant like constructs walked through the stargate to strip mine the planet.

Major Samantha Carter had explained that the ant like machines were von Neumann machines or as a more technical term Universal Assemblers.

Apparently these ant like machines will travel to a target would self-replicate until they reach a certain number and then strip mine the planet in months instead of centuries.

After the stargate had shut down Jack turned to the launch of the USSS Enterprise, the United States Navies first interstellar warship.

The Battle Carrier as Charlie had termed it was a monster and the US navy wanted escorts for it so Charlie had designed cruiser and destroyer analogues that the navy was throwing money at to build.

The launch of the Enterprise started a new space race with any nation that was capable starting their own spaceships using current technologies and any that they had managed to acquire through both legal and illegal means.

President Elect Al Gore smiled at the cameras after he had claimed victory in the 2000 presidential election.

Bill Clinton's policy of unrivalled technical development had brought millions of jobs into America's previously moribund industrial heartland.

His policy of allowing anybody who wasn't an enemy of the United States to purchase the modern technology had created a flood of money flowing into the USA while reducing the national debt to manageable levels.

The introduction of fusion power generation and hydrogen fuel cells had reduced the USA's carbon footprint by fifty percent.

And with a continuing policy of government incentives to private and corporate entities to switch over to fuel cell technology would find the USA having a carbon foot print only a fraction of what it was prior to the Clinton administration.

Al Gore's choice of running mate was strange to some.

Barack Obama was a senator from the Illinios senate in the rust belt and the renewed economic output from these regions helped the democrats defeat the republicans.

Besides when Al had first met the man there was something about him that screamed future leader.

Doctor Janet Fraiser was incensed.

She had just discovered that her daughter Cassie was pregnant.

Since she could hardly storm up to the fortress that the suspected culprit Charlie O'Neill lived in she decided to do the next best thing and confront his father at Peterson Airforce base.

Jack heard a commotion at the door of his office and looked up to see an angry Janet Fraiser pushing her way past his executive assistant.

After being berated for the better part of an hour by an irate Doctor Fraiser over the negligence of his son Jack felt like banging his head on the desk.

He was saved from a further berating by the timely arrival of NAVSEA

Vice Admiral George Peter Nanos who had come here personally to get more naquadah, trinium and neutronium for his ship building program.

Janet was ushered out of his office with a promise that they would all meet at Charlie's residence tonight for dinner to discuss the situation.

Charlie O'Neill was contemplating what to do with the Antarctic facility.

Sure it was only a base station for a city ship but it still had lots of existing Alteran technologies.

His problem was that it was in UN declared international territory and he still didn't know how to build zero point modules.

Not that he would, mind you because powering a spaceship or installation with just glorified oversized batteries was just plain stupid in his opinion.

Charlie looked at his phone as yet another SMS was received.

Since about noon he had been bombarded with SMS's emails and missed calls from an irate Doctor Janet Fraiser all of which he had ignored.

Didn't they know he was a busy person, which was why he was working from home today.

Not to mention that it got him away from his annoying assistant Doctor Rodney McKay.

General Hammond had dumped the man on him as his assistant since Area 51 effectively closed because of all the advanced technologies he had introduced.

Perhaps Charlie could redirect his phone to Doctor Rodney McKay and let one irritating man deal with an equally irate Janet Fraiser.

The government was pushing for more technologies because other nations had stolen the technology that had been licensed to the private sector.

Personally Charlie didn't care that the technology had been stolen.

The Earth needed to be unified and if every nation had space ships then the Earths defence was assured.

In a few more years the US navy will be strong enough to go on the offensive against the Goa'uld System Lords.

Once they were defeated then there were the Wraith and the Ori to deal with.

The former would be easy they just needed lots of ships and the current military mindset would do the rest.

The Ori were a different kettle of fish and the best he could hope for short term was to keep them ignorant of the Milky Way galaxy until humanity was advanced and strong enough to put them in their place.

Charlie didn't know what all the fuss was about as his parents argued with Janet Fraiser.

Sure Cassie was a little scared at her unplanned pregnancy but it wasn't as if Charlie couldn't support her.

His corporate holdings he had established over the previous four years were making money hand over fist.

Veridian and Global Dynamics, Omni Consumer Products and Cyberdyne Systems were the go to corporations for the US government or in fact any government or private entity went to when they wanted something created.

It didn't hurt his corporate holdings that not everything he created was shown to the US government via the US airforce.

The dinner to discuss Cassie pregnancy had descended into a shouting match between Charlie's parents Jack and Sara and Janet Fraiser.

Charlie couldn't understand what the issue was Cassie with her Hok'tar genetics and his own Alteran genetics needs to produce as many children as possible.

It seems Janet Fraiser's biggest gripe was that Charlie had redirected all of his means of communication to his annoying assistant Doctor Rodney McKay.

The two strong willed individuals had apparently butted heads for three hours straight before General Hammond had to intervene.

With their parents still arguing Charlie and Cassie snuck away to his research laboratory where they could discuss the situation like rational individuals in peace and quiet.

By the time their parents came looking for them Charlie and Cassie had come to an agreement.

Charlie would pay Cassie a million dollars a year to be his wife consort including full medical health care educational expenses and miscellaneous spending money.

Cassie would also receive performance bonuses for every child she had by

Charlie.

Their parents were flabbergasted with the solution that Charlie and Cassie had worked out.

As a sweetener to the deal Janet was even offered a residence on Charlie's estate that would next door to the one provided to Jack and Sara.
