The bug monsters were shaped like several different animals, including a few bipeds that looked like humans. As their hideous swarmlike bodies began pouring through the openings in the structure of the belltower above them the pirates held their position in the chapel aisle behind numerous rows of medieval styled wooden seats. They had been repositioned to create a large barricade around the group. Rows upon rows of the benches played separator to the incoming enemies for the three humans.

Zoro, Sanji, and Robin repressed their discomfort at the way bugs were traveling across and even through Brook's empty husk. They continued to contain their disgust even as the bugs made their way disturbingly close… Closer…. And closer yet.

As the swarms shaped themselves back into animal mimics, and got so far as having climbed over a few of the first rows of seat barricade, an opportune moment arrived.

Robin gave the signal:

NOW!

The noise of gas tanks emptying filled the room, as flames were thrown at the numerous wooden church benches around the pirates. They caught fire fairly easily, much to the chagrin of the bug beings. Several dozens of them were caught in the inferno surrounding their intended prey, as they were scorched into ashen nothingness. Screams echoed throughout the room, coming from… Faux vocal chords?

Sanji turned pale as a sheet of paper.

"That sounds like…"

"… Like a woman's scream." Zoro interrupted.

The blade-deprived swordsman's tone of voice was more stoic than Sanji's, but he couldn't help the tension in his neck and jaw. He kept his position as close to Robin as possible without risking his clothes catching fire the next time she used her weapon.

The agonied screeching subsided as the crewmates waited a while longer.

Robin grew a hand with an eye in it out of a column near Brook's body, it vanished into floating petals quickly thereafter.

"The coast is clear, strangely enough."

"That is strange… There looked to be at least a hundred of them earlier." Sanji replied.

"We can't afford to let our guards down, not even a little bit. Chopper's cooped up in the pantry, or he's already back on the Sunny. Who knows how quick that bug poison works."

Right as they began pondering their next move, the trio startled at the sound of rattling bones.

"Brook!" Robin shouted.

The skeleton dusted off his outfit after having risen to his feet.

"Boy have I got a tale to tell!" He shouted back. Began descending the stairs.

"I couldn't stay nearby you, but it seems like you're intact and haven't been hurt." Robin said, as she smiled gently.

"What the heck happened here?" The tall bone man asked, pushing the ash on the floor with his shoe in an almost childlike gesture. He was now on the same floor of the building as them, which is why it once again dawned on Sanji and Zoro that he was in fact, an extremely tall undead being.

"Maybe we should start by getting back on The Sunny before we launch into storytelling. I dunno about you guys, but I am pretty damn sick of waiting around to be attacked by more of these shitty bugs. Besides, it's getting dark out." Sanji said.

"Agreed." Zoro and Robin responded in unison.
