AN: Anyways, I had an idea sitting in my brain for a while now.. going on some odd years. The whole Qrow = Ruby's dad thing kinda too tempting to resist. This being the result.
- To those who were expecting an update to one of my many other incomplete stories... I apologise... They will arrive in due time. I had to get back into writing first..
- Hope everyone enjoys and please tell me if you enjoyed it, anything I may have done wrong.. and especially if you want it to continue.
UNTIL NEXT TIME!

A girl was seen just wandering around the arena reading a new comic book (in the backpack beneath her big red cape, a fresh stack she just acquired). She was wearing a nearly entirely black outfit from her top to her fancy boots. Her name was Ruby. The girl was just just trying to kill time before the next round in the tournament when she heard the sounds of metal striking metal, and not in a forge kinda way. No, it was the "duel at the crossroads" kinda way. This actually caused a bit of excitement in her boredom. So, naturally, she decided to see what all the commotion was about. She saw a crowd was gathering in front of one of the air docks. This only served to further her intrigue, and fueled the decision to get closer. As she neared the crowd, she spotted Weiss immediately and made her way to her partner. Hopefully the ice princess had some answers.
"Hey Weiss, what's going on? Why's everyone so excited?"
"Some random hooligan just showed and started attacking my sister out of nowhere!"
Okay, so the girl was livid, understandable reaction to the given situation. Although the explanation did raise another question in Ruby's mind. She crossed her arms and had a deadpan look on her face as she launched her query (anyone who saw it would definitely be reminded for a certain someone).
"What kinda stupid idiot would attack Atlesian military out in the o..."
When she decided to take a casual glance at the fight, Ruby saw something (or, rather, someone) she would've never guessed. That red cape and sword was unmistakable to her. The result of this discovery? The girl went from mildly annoyed to totally excited in no time flat.
"...oh my gods! That's my dad! KICK HER ASS DAD!"
Ruby quickly started cheering for her father. Weiss was momentarily taken aback by this surprising information, far too use to her partner's crassness at this point to care about it. She recovered fast enough to turn and give a little encouragement of her own.
"Put him in his place, sister!"
The speed of the two combatants was nearly imperceptible. Blocks, parries, counters, all at high speed. The students among the crowd were watching in amazement, this being a rare opportunity for them. This is what a fight between professionals looked like. Plus, it was awesome to see in and of itself.
Not to mention certain, other, bonuses it had. For the boys (and maybe a few girls), there was no denying that white colored opponent was (despite her seemingly abrasive and uptight personality) good looking. For the girls (and some boys), the caped one wasn't to bad on the eyes either. This was despite the fact he was certainly older than them. Of course this was totally irrelevant and entirely besides the point, but teens will be teens.
Of course none of this was going through either Ruby's or Weiss's heads. No, those two where just waiting for their pick to win over the other's. Kinda like gamblers betting on their favorite horses. Eventually Weiss's sister (her name being Winter) was put on her back foot and forced to give up ground. The moment she landed Ruby's father (Qrow was apparently his name) was pressing an attack in an instant. Soon Winter was forced into retreat again. Qrow, having way too much fun with this, decided to head in the opposite direction and fire a few rounds from the firearm attached to his weapon. None of the rounds connected, instead bouncing around the specialist.
Naturally, Ruby found her father's lack of accuracy very suspicious. The man was usually a crack-shot, it actually one of the reasons he even had a gun attachment on his weapon in the first place. If he wanted to hit something he could be trusted to just it. So why wasn't weren't any his rounds on target?
'This isn't right. She should be bleeding on the floor right now.. unless... Is he missing on purpose?'
A smirk slowly made it's way on to the girl's face as the evidence started making sense.
'He's toying with her.'
Just then a giant white cloud of smoke appeared where Winter was standing. Qrow tried to peer threw it, a few thoughts ringing through his head. Main one being of a certain angry Altesian mom coming after his head.
'Don't be dead, Willow will kill me if you're dead.'
Yeah sure, the military (and probably Jimmy personally for that matter) would have something to say. A dead specialist is a big deal over there after all (he honestly didn't see it). That was offset by how little he cared about that sorta thing. He would promptly do what he always did...tell them to go screw themselves. Willow Schnee however, totally ecplised their collective anger with her own. First, he actually cared about her opinion on things. Second, as a fellow parent himself he would ALWAYS shudder at the thought of pissing off another. Third, that woman could be damn scary when put up the effort. Plus, where else would he find a good drinking buddy (she always bought the good stuff). Luckily, the man was spared from wrath when his opponent suddenly attacked. Relaxing after knowing that he wouldn't have hide from his wife's best friend, he continued with his defense.
When Winter finally managed to force the annoying man away , she launched an attack with her semblance. While he was distracted, she prepared her final assault. Qrow wasn't scared.
'Aw, look, the little girl's finally going for the kill. I might have to get serious...'
He started transforming his sword into it's secondary configuration, only to notice something behind her and immediately stop. This appeared to anger his opponent further. Inches from the man's neck a very familiar voice called out, causing he to abruptly halt.
"Schnee! What are you doing?"
The woman straightened out her uniform and went to attention.
"Sir! He started this engagement."
Qrow, the sarcastic prick he was, just couldn't keep his mouth shut.
"Uh, she attacked first."
"Is this true?"
Winter look slight uncomfortable at the accusation. This was all General Ironwood needed. Then Ozpin arrived shortly after with his deputy, Glynda Goodwitch, in tow. His next action was to speak to his students.
Ignoring the headmaster (and "weird-name-lady") ran straight for her father. Something happened during this that actually managed to surprise the man. Naturally, his composure held (though inside he was freaking out).
"Qrow, why is there a bird on your head?"
Qrow was confused.
"Huh? I don't feel anythi... Wait, what type of bird is it?"
Ozpin was a bit curious.
"A crow."
It would have sounded like a lame joke (damn you Tai) but to the man in the red cape, it was everything he needed to know to tell the exact identity of the creature on his head. Also, why he hadn't felt it land in the first place (being far too use to it). With a sigh he plucked the bird from his hair and spoke.
"Ruby. What have I told you about using this in public?"
At first everyone in the vicinity (with one exception) thought the man had gone crazy. Then the small bird shocked them and turned into a girl with a red cloak being held up by it's hood. She was wearing a a black button up shirt with dress pants. She also looked kinda embarrassed.
"Uhh.. I ... Got excited?"
Qrow just quirked an eyebrow. The girl panicked and started flailing about.
"I'm sorry! You know I can't full control it yet!"
Before he could get a word in, Ozpin cleared his throat to get the man's attention.
"Qrow, a word."
The his voice sounded, no wasn't an option. Qrow put his daughter down before whispering to her.
"Looks like I'm in trouble."
"You blew up half the courtyard."
"And it was awesome."
"You know it!"
Finger guns and a wink, the father daughter's signature farewell (maybe a click of the tongue under certain circumstances.. mostly happy ones). Weiss decided that was the time to get her two cents in.
"Suddenly everything about you makes sense."
Despite trying to sound authoritative, the other girl just brushed her off as she walked away. Weiss wasn't even surprised anymore.
"Yeah yeah whatever, later white-witch."
