Marley's State of Affairs – June 874

Government

Marley Confederated Union was established 3 months after the cataclysmic event known as "The Rumbling", as a way for the survivors to reestablish a functioning society and a progressive return to normal life. It was initially formed from the prior Nation of Marley, the Mid-East Alliance nations and the annexed territories. Hizuru kept it's independence until 10 years ago, when annexation talks began, which ended a year ago with the former nation integration into the confederation.

There is no head of government in Marley, as a confederation, it's government is formed from a Council, whose members represent each of the nations that are part of the Union. The head of state is a rotative post that changes each year to a member of the Council.

Society

Marley is now a multi cultural nation, as the few remaining survivors of the Rumbling could not manage their original territories, most of them decided to settle on the most heavily populated locations, which were in Marley. 5 years algo the refugee camps were dissolved, as the population grew to acceptable levels for the original nations to welcome their citizens again, under the administration of the Union.

Access to education, social services, employment, housing and alimentation are general to all citizens of the union regardless of their origin. Society has formed a welcoming and tolerant spirit in the most part. The newly integrated Hizuru citizens are the most reserved and traditionalist, but have been welcomed. The official language of Marley is Eldian, but Hizuru and Aytish languages are also used in an official manner to respect and preserve the original cultures of their people.

There has been a rogue faction in society that has gone underground, the Sons of Helos, which maintain their xenophobic and racist view of society from the former Nation of Marley, particularly against the now eldian majority. They have been deemed as a terrorist organization by the Government. Their activities have been scarce during the past 10 years, due to their lack of funding and members, but have caused 3 deaths of eldians. Most of their leaders and activities have been successfully suppressed.

Religion

There is not a majority religion in Marley. Each group has different beliefs mostly regarding their own original culture, but most of the population does not have religious beliefs. This has brought concern to the council, due to the animic state of the population ibeing by the most part negative, most of them have no place to find solace so there has been an increasing number of suicides in the nation.

Territories

City State of Liberio: The capital of Marley. It's the largest city of the nation and the most densely populated. It's majority population consist of Eldians. All cultures of the Union have settled on the city and have been integrated. The main activities of the city is fishing, tourism, education and military training. The economic and business center of the nation are located in the city.

State of Marley: The majority of the continental territory of the Union is comprised of the State of Marley. It's scarcely populated but several former refugee settlements have started to develop as rural towns. Their main activity is agriculture and cattle.

Aydiari: Part of the former Middle-East Alliance. Their lands are dry and desertic. Their main activity is mining and industry. It's people are the most traditionalist and respectful, becoming a tourist attraction because of their hospitality.

Tongo: Part of the former Middle-East Alliance. The most culturally rich of the nations and the one with the least reconstruction progress. It's territory is mostly inhabited by industrialist who exploit it's great natural resources.

Hizuru: The newest member of the Union. It had an alliance with Paradis that was severed after a terrorist attack on the kingdom 16 years before. A once technologically and economic prosperous nation had been brought to ruin after being left for years in isolation. The annexation progress was difficult but integration was successful. It now houses the greatest industrial and technological complex in Marley, which has been reactivated after it's integration.

Colonies: The Nation of Marley as part of their expansionist policies began implementing colonies in the far East beyond the sea. Those were left abandoned after the Rumbling, but in the past 2 years efforts have begun to restart exploration on the new territories. They are inhabited exclusively by military personnel.

Military

Marley's massive military structure was completely destroyed during the Rumbling. In the last 16 years, as a collaboration between the different nations of the Union it has begun to be reestablished with a focus on assisting the population and securing it from the terrorist cells that appear at times. It has been helping in restoring and protecting the ruins of the former historical sites. The East Military Complex is the base of operations of the Military structure, as it has been given the task to protect the Crystal structure that suddenly appeared 16 years ago. The material has been mined to further technological advancement, allowing for electric energy to be introduced into almost the entirety of the Union.

Actuality

Presently, the Union has been in peace and developing successfully. Intelligence has informed that various Helos' terrorist cells have been activating in the State of Marley. There has not been information regarding it's possible infiltration on Paradis or the groups acquiring new weapons, so the level of threat they represent is minimal.

Present relations with Paradis

Relations between the nations are at an all time highest. Technological advancements are the primary mutual benefit from this successful diplomatic effort, as well as trade, economic development and tourism. The nations have established a single currency system. The council hopes this will continue for as long as possible.

Paradis' State of Affairs – June 874

Government

Paradis is an absolute monarchy, Her Majesty Queen Historia Reiss is responsible for the formation of the government. It is a unitary nation under direct rule of the Crown, with it's regional governors appointed by the Queen. The military held control of the government for 20 years, but in the last 4 years the Queen decided for the nobles to regain full control of the government.

Society

Paradis society has greatly developed in the last 20 years. Technological progress was brought forward by the former alliance between Paradis, Hizuru and Tongo. After the Rumbling, Paradis become for 5 years the only developing society, managing to produce great technological advancements of their own and military prowess.

Political factions had developed surrounding the implications of the Rumbling. The Yeagerist faction, which held control of the government for 15 years, is militarist and imperialistic in nature, it has the most appeal to the population but due to the success of the relations between Paradis and Marley, they have lost power and influence. The New Yeagerists are the political group pushing for peace and restoration of a unified society has gained control of the government, allowing for free travel between the nations and halting military expansionism.

Trade and business have become the main source of income of the nation, forming many industries and companies that provide the world with most of it's services and ownership of the agriculture and cattle lands in both nations.

Religion

The former Wallist religion has been replaced by the Church of the Redentor, based on the image of Eren Yeager and the Founder Ymir Fritz. The leaders of the church have been assisting the population in means of housing, alimentation and emotional support, which has made the religion take a firm grip on the majority of the citizens. They are politically associated with the Yeagerist and are critical of the present government. The church has been unsuccessfully trying for years to gain the favor of Lady Mikasa Yeager, Baroness Ackerman, as a way to enter the government.

Intelligence indicates that a cult has been developing for the past 15 years surrounding Lady Yeager's daughter Sasha. There have been several incidents surrounding Sasha Yeager that have turned violent in nature due to her figure being associated to both Eren Yeager and Ymir Fritz, regarding her as a divine figure due to her resemblance to Eren Yeager and unnatural physical characteristic, and the mystery behind her birth. Lady Yeager and her daughter have been in isolation for years with support from the Crown which has been radical in protecting the Yeager family's privacy even to the government cabinet and the military heads.

Military

The Military of Paradis is the most advanced and funded in the world. It has great influence in all aspects of Paradis' Society even after leaving the government. Queen Historia has been actively trying to change the leadership of the military represented entirely by Yeagerists, which has met with strong resistance.

Actuality

Paradis for the past 17 years has been in a state of political conflict without resorting to violence. Political confrontation has been constant especially after the terrorist attack perpetrated by Marley national Kaspar Ackerman. Queen Historia has been successful until now from the military's expansionist tendencies from developing thanks to the aid of Lady Mikasa Yeager, who has great influence in the Yeagerist faction.

There has been an increasing amount of reports of sightings of Sasha Yeager, causing an increasing amount of cultist activities and unrest in the population.

Princess Ymir Reiss has become a member of the council of government as a Minister without Portafolio. Lady Mikasa Yeager has become more active in the council after years of isolation.

Present relations with Marley

Relations between the nations have been positive and beneficial, particularly to the neighbor nation. Her majesty's government wishes to keep the diplomatic ties to maintain peace.

Society has begun to embrace the open policies between Marley and Paradis, as tourism has become a great attraction and source of income for both societies.

There has been great controversy over the growing technological industry of Paradis and it's recently signed deal with the Rohr Industries, owned by Kaspar Ackerman. The Marley government defended the deal, stating that Iro Aganyu has been in control of the company for more than a decade after Ackerman's imprisonment. Due to pressure, the Crown approved the deal. The companies involved are being investigated.

HER MAJESTY'S GOVERNMENT

Sasha is sitting in what seems to be a ruin… she doesn't know where she is. The ruins seem to be covered by plants… they look really old and completely destroyed… there is a pond in the middle of it. She approaches it… and it dries. There are bones underneath it.

Sasha jumps back frightened… the scenery changes. She is now in the desert she always sees in her dreams with the shining tree. The boy of her dreams is there too.

Sasha: I haven't seen you in a while… something is going to happen isn't it?

The boy suddenly is in front of her. She is now in the Memorial Park in front of Eren Yeager's statue. The boy is on top of the Attack Titan statue. It starts to cry blood. The entire floor is covered by it. The scenery changes again.

Sasha is now in front of her house. This surprises Sasha she has never seen it in her dreams before.

The boy gently grabs Sasha's hand and leads her inside the house.

Sasha: What are you doing? Wow… this is the first time you have touched me… can't you talk?

Both of them enter the house… it's a field of flowers. Sasha feels… at home.

Sasha wakes up with tears in her eyes and soaked in sweat.

Sasha: Damn… I thought those bizarre dreams were over now that I'm old… am I ever going to be able to sleep like a normal person?!

Sasha is deep in thought. Although she felt very anxious about what she dreamed… it also made her feel hopeful… like everything would be alright for some reason.

Mikasa enters her room: Sasha… get up already… we are meeting Ymir in an hour.
