Chapter 1: When The Heavy Metal Stops
Flynn opened his eyes, the sudden red filled his vision as he did and he snapped his eyes back shut. After the pain faded to a dull ache, he slowly opened his eyes to be met with the mark of the Slayer over head.
What the fuck?
Where is he?
Everything's hella blurry...
He went to sit up, and was stopped... The familiar sound of metal on metal caught his hears, looking down he seen cuffs connected to chains on his wrist.
What the fuck?!
He needed up. Now.
He couldn't see anything, he could barely hear anything over the loud ringing in his ears. He pulled and thrashed as a figure approached him. Thrashing harder he broke free of his bond and smashed the head of the figure, which turned out to be a demon.
Ripping the other cuff off he jumped off the sarcophagus and grabbed the conveniently placed pistol off the ground. Killing the other demon in there swiftly he ran out of the room
Where was his armor? And... Why is he naked. He shuddered he was just going to put that aside now, he was awake, and theres demons.
Which means he has a mission at hand.
Currently, Slayer was walking through the halls on his way to Samuels office. The more he walked through the UAC building the more he questioned Samuels sanity.
At the moment he didnt care. As Long as the portals got closed, and Samuel didnt give him a reason to tear him apart when he saw him, then he was going to ignore red flags. For now that is.
He entered an area on lockdown, the room was red and the UAC facility began speaking: "Demonic presence as unsafe levels, area lockdown initiated."
"Nothing is ever easy huh." He mumbled to himself within the helmet. Heavy metal began to play softly as his adrenaline began to flood him. Cocking his shotgun he murdered the pinky's and walked into the red room. Spotting the gore nest he ran and ripped the heart out.
An ear piercing roar rang out and Flynn smiled.
Yes. Come and get it.
?:
She was scared and alone, the small woman curled up in a ball trying to stay as small and as still as possible. Her skin was a tawny brown and was covered in a thin sheen of sweat yet remained untouched. No bruises. No cuts. And surprisingly not much dirt. At the moment she was quite hungry but ultimately ignored it.
She was ran out of her little hiding place a day or two ago, and decided to stay here to die in peace. Since she literally picked the worst room in the building to hide in. There was a gore nest in the middle of the room and she couldn't be bothered even thinking to get rid of it.
If she was being honest, she didn't care as long as the demons didn't find her in the air vent.
She sighed softly, all was quiet except for the growls and gurgles of the possessed outside on the floor. She leaned her head against the wall of the vent, she decided if she was going to die here she'd be well rested while doing it.
She couldn't remember a time before the UAC which was rather alarming at first, but she grew used to it. Not really focusing on her past but rather her future. She shook her head, but the past is still important maybe its the reason why she only worked in the weapons or in the medbays. And maybe why Samuel rarely let her do these things.
Everytime she tried to remember... She couldn't.
So, with that she relaxed a bit and got comfy. Just on the brink of her sleep she was startled out of it by a shriek of agony, crashing... And was that music? Yes it was... Heavy metal to be exact. She perked up at the familiar tunes and looked through the grate.
Then she saw him.
The mighty Doom Slayer fighting lost souls and defeating them effortlessly. She'd hear Pierce's rants about bringing him here, what he was a danger to everything they were working on, but she never understood why she was so adamant about keeping him away. He was asleep afterall what harm could he do? She still didn't understand but she was okay with it, seeing as it was not something she should know at the moment.
She watched as he went to the middle of the room... Towards the gore nest.
"What are you doing? Are you mad?" She whispered to herself. And as if he heard her he plunged his hand into the heart of it and ripped it out, then threw on the floor to stomp on it. 'Yes... Yes he is.'
She leaned forward her key card tapping against the vent as three Revenants spawned. Then the grate gave way, sending her to the hard floor. Wheezing she stood and looked at Doomguy, he was fighting two of the Revenants and didnt seem to hear her little tumble there. She stood and looked around.
She could've swore there were-
"AAAAAAAAAAAAa!"
Yep! There it was. She dodged out of the way and ran. She knew she could take on smaller demons... But she needed a weapon... Anything.
A Hell Razor sent her flying onto the floor and she groaned, when she looked to her right she seen a pipe. "Perfect." She said grabbing it and standing. Smiling she proceeded to commit war crimes.
She sought out the imps and took them out first. As she pulled the pipe from ones skull, she could feel the presence of something big behind her. She turned around and found it was a hell knight.
It raised its fist to hit her but she dodged and ran from it, she knew how to take these on and as bad as it sounds she led it to slayer so he could deal with it.
She hid with her pipe to calm her racing heart... Only for a Cacodemon to wander to her and try to take a bite out of her. She drove the pipe into its eye and ran again only to realize she didnt have any weapons.
Now panicked she braced for hand to hand combat...
Only to realize the Demons were disinterested in her and only going for Doomguy.
Help! Help. She needed to help somehow. Looking around she spotted a dead demon guard thing and grabbed the gun.
She took out meatball bois and one tapped Revenants with a shot to the head. A hell knight caught sight of her and decided to kick her ass so that's what it did. It jumped at her and swatted the gun out of her hands before swatting at her. She dodged until it downed her with a quick swat to the legs. Colliding with the ground she let out a grunt...
She looked up and accepted her soon to be end. The Hell Knight raised its heavy foot and-
A flash of green and the hell night fell backwards screaming in agony as its chest cavity was ripped open and shot up. Rori rolled over and stood before running the opposite way. She hid behind a pillar of sorts before catching her breath. After a moment she decided to come back out only to smack into a metal abdomen and fall on her ass.
She groaned in pain before opening an eye to look at what she ran into. And when she did she gasped and backed up a bit.
The Slayer stood before her, bloodied and tall. So damned tall. At least 7 foot in that armor? And his Biceps- sis his biceps were huge.
But what was most scary of all was that his music no longer played... It was dead silent.
Scrambling to her feet and swallowing thickly, she looked up to him. He never moved it seemed, he just stood there. Staring.
"Um. Hello there... Uh... Slayer? Can I call you that?"
Still he stood silent.
"Greeeaaaatt... Uhm sorry about the whole running into you thing I uh didnt see you there... So.. yeah." She said nervously wringing her hands. He leaned forwards causing her to jump, he reached out to her.
'oh no no no no no I am NOT a demon!'
She froze and closed her eyes as he got closer to her. She felt a light tug on her neck and realized he was looking at her key card. It was a card he was looking for. She let out the breath she was holding as he took it from around her neck.
"Her name is Rori Alexandra Brown. She worked in the weapons and medical departments, but Hayden mostly kept her in or around his office." Vega explained. Doomguy looked back up to Rori as she stared on curiously. "You should bring her back to Hayden, he would be pleased she is alive." The brute grunted in displeasure before handing her back her key card and motioning her to follow.
"I-? I cant though."
"Unf?"
"If you go outside I wont be able to follow you."
"Unf!" Doomguy frowned taking a step closer to her. Trying to get close enough to where she could hear him through his helmet. She took a step back much to his dismay and caused him to lunge at her. She let out a small terrified noise as he gripped her shoulders.
The room flashed red once again before Doomguy could say anything.
"Demonic presence at unsafe levels lock down initiated."
Two Baron of Hells came out of nowhere.
"O-Okay I think I've reconsidered my last statement. I'm staying with you." She squeaked getting closer to huddle in his side. He picked her up quite roughly and walked to a blue portal. Rori eventually caught on to his intentions and spoke up "Wait- Don't you dare throw me-" He didnt give her time to finish as he tossed her through the portal carelessly. She came out the other side and landed with an 'oof'. Rori groaned in pain then shielded her eyes from the green light. Just as it faded it grew blinding and a loud explosion rocked the room.
Silence.
A sickening silence.
"Demonic presence eliminated. Lock down disengaged." Rori pushed herself into a standing position looking around at all the blood in the room... And on herself.
"Woah." She said blinking. As the ringing in her ears wore off she hearx teleporting noises from behind her. Turning to the potential threat she was quite relieved seeing the slayer weilding the BFG before her. "You really know how to use that thing huh?" She smiled at him and Doomguy nodded. He then walked away quickly leaving her but she followed him to the elevator.
They stood awkwardly in the cramped space, she was pressed into his abdomen... Slayer didn't mind all that much it was just a bit uncomfortable. He shifted a bit and put his arm around her, which made everything much more awkward... And the elevator music didnt help.
She was looking everywhere but him at the moment. His heavy arm draped over her gave her an idea of how heavy he waa in the armor. Doomguy visibly relaxed when the elevator stopped with no complications. He squeezed out of the space with her then stopped to check her over.
No scratches... No bruises... Nothing.
He squished her cheeks, in response she looked like she was smiling and squinting at him. Doomguy hummed in delight, enjoying the sight of innocence and let go of her before turning to the control pad on the door.
Rori rubbed her cheeks a small pout coming over her face. She stood next to him waiting for the door to open, when Doomguy started to grunt in pain she was instantly panicking.
"Are you okay?! What happened?!" She seen the blue electricity hopping over his suit. "Why the Tethering?" Doomguy was still grunting in pain and shaking violently as she tried to keep him steady. As the last painful shocks went through his body, Doomguy looked at Rori after a moment and she could see his confusion. But before he could ask the door opened.
A tall slender bot known as Samuel Hayden, he stood 9 feet in height nearly 10 from Roris stand point, stood looking down at them.
"Sorry for the jolt-"
"Samuel. I may be under you but I need you to explain what the actual hell is going on!"
"Slayer here is going to... Well hell. He needs to be able to get back. So I installed the tethering to his suit." He then turned to slayer, "Thank you for bringing her."
"Hey tall man shit head! Quit ignoring me! Thats not what I meant! You still have explaining to do!" Rori announced. Samuel looked at her.
"I suppose I do. Follow me to my office, I think both of you can help me." With that he turned and started walking and talking. Rori followed after Slayer clutching her stolen weapon as Samuel explained.
"And what did I tell you about Olivia?" She asked.
"I know, Rori."
"Then how come you didnt listen? Is it your little ego you have going on?"
"Little would be an understatement." Vega commented. Rori chuckled a bit as Slayer made a weird noise close to a snort.
Samuel did a head toss and ignored them continuing to walk. Slayer thought it was funny how the smaller woman and AI could grate on the robots nerves almost harder than he could.
"You two are handfuls." Samuel sighed going into his office. "There's an artifact we need, I need you two to get it."
"Unf-"
"Excuse me?"
"You heard me, Rori can get into hard to reach places. Even in armor. This could make your job a whole lot easier, Slayer." Samuel turned to the brutish man who stood rigid and tense as always.
"Okay sorry to rain on your parade but like, I've had little training in combat."
"You seemed just fine against those Demons earlier."
"That! Was only because The Slayer was there." Rori explained.
"What about the time Olivia tried to touch your ears?"
"That was self defense!"
"Rori. You're going with him. As much as I hate to say this..." He motioned to Doomguy. "He'll be able to protect you better than what I can." Rori looked to Doomguy who was already staring at her.
"Did you say that?" Rori asked putting a hand on her hip. Doomguy shook his head and let out a series of unfs. And pointed at Samuel in an accusing way before crossing his arms. "Thats what I thought! You're just trying to push me onto him to get out of your hair!"
"Unf!" Doomguy said agreeing.
"Ugh this is harder than I ever thought it would be." Sam said face palming. They were both pretty stubborn people you'd have to hit them over the head a few good times before you even got a sliver of consideration.
"Dr. Hayden only has your best interests in mind-"
"And I'm sure thats what he said when he colonized hell." Rori pointed out, "Now here we are."
"Rori. Unfortunately Samuel does not have good 'people skills' as you would call it. Despite his efforts to keep tabs on Olivia he made a mistake. You make mistakes. Slayer makes mistakes. They happen. But if I'm speculating correctly... Samuel is right. Slayer would be better to protect you than himself." Rori considered Vegas words and sighed.
"Fine. But if you're wrong Hayden I'm going to have a bone to pick with you." Rori threatened.
Samuel sighed out, and nodded. "Alright. Your suit is by the door."
He said as a wall opened up and a suit appeared. It was black and slender with pink stripes down it. She walked to it and stepped into it after discarding the rest of her skirt. Leaving her in a tight swim suit like material.
The armor closed around her and adjusted a bit before the pink lines began to glow faintly. She wriggled her hips a bit and the motion was fluid, no plates ground together, perfect. She grabbed up her helmet, forgetting that she was indeed a few noticable inches taller. Now standing around 5'9, she looked up to Slayer who still stood a good seven and a half feet.
"Well thats just not fair!" She said.
"Take what you need, Slayer." Sam said staring at the window. Rori hummed watching as Doomguy took all the ammo. He walked to her and instead of walking away he stood staring.
'I hope this isnt going to be the new normal...' Rori thought as she stared up at him. He seemed so familiar. Might just be because he has a name around here.
Doomguy grunted, seeming startled that he was caught, and started sprinting away. Rori was surprises to say the least but she ran after him.
"You son of a- Wait for me!" She called.
Thus began a long adventure, filled with blood, sweat, tears, and feels.
Hope you enjoyed! Next chapter will be out in a week or two!
