Izuku made his way to the UA entrance exam.
He was very excited!
Even if he didn't get in, his favorite hero ever worked there and he might actually meet him!
UA had the only non-human hero and Izuku wanted to meet him so much!
He had been pacing and bouncing a little when someone on the bus crouched down and got really close to him.
"Hey there buddy, are you lost? How did a bunny get on the bus?"
Someone else spoke up "He's so cute though, he's even got a little backpack, maybe he's on an adventure."
He tensed up and was ready to kick as they reached for him.
Then his human came and yelled at them before they tried to pick him up.
"Oi! Back the fuck up! Deku had better things to do than deal with your bullshit."
"Sorry dude, didn't realize that was your rabbit, you shouldn't just leave in on the ground"
A tiny explosion escaped his human's hands "He's not mine you idiots. But if you try to pick him up he'll probably knock you the fuck out."
This was true. Izuku didn't like being touched by strangers.
They got off the bus and walked up to the school.
Did he mention that he was excited? Because he is!
He ran ahead and jumped up onto the counter where he was supposed to register for the exam.
The loud man with blonde hair seemed surprised by Izuku. But it's not like he could have filled out the papers from the ground, so Izuku wasn't sure what was surprising.
He ducked his head down and wiggled so his backpack came off. Then he pulled the zipper open with his teeth and slid out his phone, which he mostly used for the text to speech option.
Everyone around him had mostly stopped what they were doing to watch him sign up for the exam. Izuku has just accepted that humans are very weird and like to watch him do mundane tasks and he doesn't really get why.
Maybe it was because he was green? There weren't a lot of green rabbits.
Then his phone started talking as he typed into it
"Hello! I'm Izuku Midoriya! I'm here to sign up for the exam!"
The loud man with blonde hair seemed unsure of what to do and asked him to wait.
Then a very tired man came over.
"Alright, apparently my coworker doesn't know how to do his job. What's your name, middle school, quirk and address?"
After some rapid typing the phone spoke up again.
"Hi! I'm Izuku Midoriya! I didn't go to middle school because I'm a rabbit! My quirk makes me super dense! That means I'm really strong and smarter than a lot of rabbits!" He smiled up at the tired man and typed in the address for Bakugou house over his burrow.
The tired man sighed, "Is there a reason you end every sentence in exclamation marks?"
More typing. "I'm very excited!" He bounced back and forth as if to prove his point (he was worried that the robotic voice from the phone didn't get his excitement across).
"Whatever, head over to the written portion of the exam. Here's a paper explaining everything you need to know about the exam and your examinee number"
He put his phone away and wriggled back into his backpack and grabbed the paper in his teeth before bounding down the hallway with the other students.
A lot of people stared at him.
He did not care, he was too excited!
He got to his seat and put his backpack on the desk. He pulled out a pencil and held it between his teeth.
He was ready!
Then he got the test and started to answer the questions.
He was not ready!
These questions were very hard and it took a long time for him to circle the right multiple choice answer.
He barely got to the last question before the time was up.
He was worried!
Then they announced it was time for the practical exam.
He was excited again!
The loud man was as the front of the big room
"EVERYBODY SAY HEY!"
The room was silent other than a very loud squeaking noise that came from Izuku.
His human in the seat next to him laughed a bit.
The practical was simple, they needed to break robots. He was good at breaking things!
Sometimes people got upset because he was too good at breaking things, but these people wanted him to break things and that was also very exciting!
He got bored of listening and started tapping his paws on Kachan's leg.
He got a grunt in response, but he kept it up until he was given a carrot stick.
Izuku liked his pet human, he was well trained.
Someone was saying something and was pointing at him, but he was very happy to ignore them and enjoy his snack.
He stood in the waiting area and was so ready!
He was gonna smash robots!
He was gonna meet Nezu!
He was gonna be the first rabbit hero-
Wait!
What's that shiny thing?! That seems important too.
There were shiny tubes in a man's legs. That's a weird place to keep shiny things. Maybe he just likes shiny things a lot and keeps them in his legs so he doesn't lose them? That makes sense, they must be very important to him.
Then, the shiny-leg-tube-man started talking at him.
"Why is there a rabbit in the exam area? That seems highly unprofessional"
He walked closer, then started to bend over like he was going to pick up Izuku.
He bared his teeth and growled at him, he did not say tube-leg-man could touch him!
That made him back up for a second, which was good, then he hopped over towards a girl with brown hair.
She seemed nice!
"Hello there, are you taking the exam?"
He didn't have his phone with him for the practical so he just hopped up and down in excitement.
She laughed a little, "Well I'm sure you'll do great."
He thought she would do great too!
He made sure to run in a circle around her while squeaking to get this point across.
Then the loud man told them to start, so he started running into the test area.
There was a green robot coming right at him!
Amazing!
He jumped up and kicked it really hard, making it explode a little.
That's so exciting!
He ran around kicking and exploding the robots and it was very fun.
He had a friend who exploded too!
He jumped from one robot to the next as he kicked them super hard-
Wait!
Is that a flower!?
He came to a sudden stop and ate the flower growing on the training ground before continuing on his spree of robot destruction.
He bounced from robot to robot when he heard a really big sound.
That's a big robot!
He saw the nice girl with brown hair under some rocks. It seemed like a weird time to make a burrow, but who was he to judge?
Wait!
Mitsuki said humans are bad at burrowing and being under rocks is very bad for humans.
He ran over to help the stuck human.
Oh no!
The human is very stuck and hurt and the big robot might step on her!
So he did the thing he was the very best at.
He got real low to the ground, focused on the robot really hard, wiggled his butt for good measure, then jumped.
The teachers and students alike watched in awe as a rabbit sized hole appeared in the robot. Then another, and another.
Everytime he jumped through it it made a very loud noise and sometimes exploded a little like the tiny robots, and that seemed like a good sign.
When he was done jumping through it the robot fell down in a big heap of green metal.
Green was a good color.
It was the color of grass and trees and flower stems and him!
Now he smells like oil and gross, because robots smell bad and there was no grass to roll around in to get the smell off!
Loud man told everyone that the exam was done!
He went over to check on the human that got stuck. Maybe he could teach her how to burrow better so she didn't get stuck under rocks?
Then he saw she touched the rocks and made them float so she could get out.
Amazing!
He'd never seen floating rocks before!
So he did the reasonable thing and went over to smell them to see if floating rocks smelled the same as regular rocks.
They apparently smell the same.
Amazing! He'd need to write this down in his journal when he got home.
-floating rocks smell the same as regular rocks (do they taste the same?)
Unfortunately they stopped floating before he could find out.
Oh no, he had gotten very distracted by the floating rocks and didn't notice the lady talking to him.
The tiny and wrinkly human was asking a question.
"Hello there dearie, are you hurt at all?"
Was he? He kind of ached all over since he spent a lot of time throwing his body through robots.
He nodded to the old human.
"Ok, my quirk lets me heal by giving you a kiss, but it will make you tired, would that be ok?"
He liked this human already. She asked before trying to touch him unlike a lot of humans.
He nodded again and she bent down to give him a little kiss on the forehead.
Now he was very sleepy.
He looked around and saw that all the rubble made a lot of really good burrows.
So he wiggled his way under a big piece of broken building and curled up to take a nap.
The teachers in the observation room were conflicted over the applicant.
Personally, Nezu was thrilled.
He would absolutely fight to have a quirked animal like himself in their hero program.
Unfortunately, he couldn't just make that decision on his own, he would need to convince the other hero teachers as well.
Present Mic seemed to be more in the camp against the applicant.
"I don't have anything against the little guy, but he hasn't gone to school before so are we even able to accept him?"
Aizawa grunted in response "Technically it doesn't matter. We usually just assume that if you can pass the written exam you already passed middle school"
Midnight seemed to be somewhere in the middle "Well, the little cutie scored well enough to get in if he passed the written too. But I don't think I'm the only one worried that he stopped more than once because something distracted him. He probably would have the top score if he didn't stop fighting to eat some flowers"
Nedzu respected Aizawa for not caring about the species of the applicant. "So what? If he gets enough points he passes, if he doesn't get enough points he fails, I don't understand the need for debate on this. We haven't even decided rescue points and he's in the top five for the practical, so if he passed the written he'll be in my class"
They might have continued the discussion but Recovery Girl called him to notify them that the student in question was healed and promptly took a nap under a pile of rubble.
"Hmmm, that is an issue. And I'm assuming he won't come out when asked?"
"Yes, he is responsive, but unfortunately I don't speak rabbit"
"I'll head over there now. I'm not fluent in rabbit, but I know enough to get by"
As he approached the rubble he heard the quiet squeaking sound that translated roughly to 'I'm tired, go away'
He was rusty at best, but talking to rabbits was fairly similar to any other rodent language. He responded in a squeak that essentially meant that it wasn't a good place to sleep.
The moment the rabbit heard him speak he exploded out of his impromptu burrow and ran around Nedzu in clear excitement.
He calmed down enough to the point he was bouncing back and forth while rambling so fast Nezu was barely sure of what he was trying to say. But it seemed that the general idea of it was that he was absolutely thrilled to meet Nedzu and that he was the rabbit's favorite hero.
That made him smile. He remembered the frustration of looking at the ranks of heroes and not seeing anyone who was like himself, so he was glad he got to inspire the deceptively powerful bunny.
Then from behind he heard one of the other applicants shouting.
"Hey! Shitty Deku, you gonna make me wait all fucking day? You know mom is gonna be pissed if I leave you behind"
Nedzu turned and saw the applicant who got the most villain points by far. He was holding Midoriya's tiny backpack that had been left behind so it wasn't in the way during the practical.
"I can't believe you forgot your fucking backpack again. I don't speak your goddamn squeaky nonsense so you better not lose this shit"
Nedzu smiled and walked up to the explosive boy.
"Hello, my name is Nedzu. I take it you know Mirdoiya?"
"Unfortunately. The little shit set up his burrow bullshit around my house and my mom took a liking to the green idiot"
Nedzu nodded "I was wondering why his name could be read as useless green, I assume you had a hand in naming him?"
He smirked and seemed to hold pride in the name. "Well, I wanted to just have his name be green blockhead, but my mom made sure it read like an actual name, so she changed it from Deku Midori to Izuku Midoriya."
All he could think was that they were an odd family.
Izuku had pulled out his phone again and quickly went to work tapping out what he wanted to say.
"This is Kachan, my pet human"
"FUCK YOU, I'M NOT YOUR PET!"
"Would you be so kind as to explain why he believes you are his pet human?"
Bakugou groaned loudly "It started because whenever we were around each other people assumed he was my pet, but he didn't know what that was. So I explained it was an animal you trained and kept in your house, and since he burrow surrounds our house he's decided that we all live in his fucking home"
Izuku chirped and squeaked to Nedzu to explain that he trained him and let him stay in his burrow (which apparently included the Bakugou household).
As if to prove his own point Izuku stretched up and patted Bakugou on the leg, who gave him a carrot stick out of habit.
Then, immediately realizing what he'd done shouted at the rabbit in question "Fuck you! You are the most annoying rabbit I've ever met"
After explaining to the young rabbit that calling people your pet is rude he sent the two off back to their home and was already looking forward to the chaos those two would inevitably cause.
When the two boys got home he shot across the grassy yard to tell his mom about his day.
His mother was a green rabbit like him, except a bit more plump and she had a different quirk.
She could pull things to herself, and that was super cool!
He knew she wasn't as smart as him, since she could only speak rabbit and didn't understand a lot of things he did, but he still loved her a lot.
She sat quietly while he rambled about his day, and even if she got confused about a lot of things she still showered him in love.
Inko showed how much she cared by grooming him while he talked, and it definitely made him feel very cared for and happy.
It always confused him that humans didn't like getting groomed. Having family or friends help groom you is how you show love! Humans were dumb for thinking it was gross.
After being properly groomed and nuzzled by his mother, he bounced his way inside the big house.
After hopping around a little bit he went and found Kachan's mom Mitsuki. She was loud like her son, but she gave Izuku food like her son too, so she was ok.
"Hello there little Izuku, my brat says you both did well at the test today?"
He hopped up onto the counter and went through the process of wiggling out of his backpack, getting his phone, and typing out his response.
"Yes! We broke so many robots! I am worried about the paper test! But I'm still excited even if writing is hard and questions are confusing!"
She laughed as she listened to the phone reading out his words.
"I'm glad you're excited, but I don't think I've ever seen you not excited"
"Why would I ever want to be not-excited?!"
"That's an excellent point. Well, I left out a bunch of lettuce for you and your mother. Make sure you eat up, I'm sure you're hungry after today"
She was right! He was hungry!
I hope you all liked this new story, I thought that it would be a fun story to write with a rabbit as the narrator. Let me know if you'd like to see more of this.
